There was this router Cisco 815 that i consoled. I cannot go into its privilege mode. even typing enable still cant go to its # mode. whats the problem with this router? how am i able to fix it? its initial problem was it cannot carry more pc client anymore.. 815 series has a 4 switch port at its back and a wan port.the 4 switch port cannot access the internet if connected to 4 pc clients.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing a problem that when I telnet a router ip.It prompts for username and password.After entering username and password the router enter into exec mode with > prompt.But when trying to enter in privilege exec mode by typing en or enable it gives error:
"Translating "en" %unknown command or computer name.or unable to find computer address".
This problem started on removing easy vpn configuration which include aaa new model configurations. The router is in production environment and have remote and console access.
I have created users and given them telnet access to router 7200. They have full privilges(15) but everytime they login they login into user-exec mode instead of privilege mode. Is there a way to skip user-exec mode and allow the users to login directly into privilge mode so they dont have to enter password twice?

If I log in as the admin account it gets priv 15, if I log in as the other user it gets privilege 3 which is correct, by my commands dont work, this is what I have added and the strange thing is I've dont this many times before on our other switches

I tried to authenticate and authorized Nokia/checkpoint Nortel/AD3 and Nortel 5510 platform using an 4.1 for windows ACS. the ACCESS-REQUEST is well processed bi the radius server wich send ACCESS-ACCEPT to the AAA Client (ie NORTEL or NOKIA), but i'have got privilege access denied on the Client side. RADIUS IETF Dictionnary is used for every device. all others Cisco Devices authenticate and are well authorized.

Currently, we have 2 SUP 6-Es(Module 5 - Active and Module 6 - Stand-by) setup in a redundent mode. I am planning on changing the redundent mode to the shared backplane mode so I can use 2 TenGig converters to uplink 2 access-switches. We purchased 2 TenGig converters and here is how I am planning on using them:
1- One will be used to uplink to two 3750 switches(stacked)
2- One will be used to uplink to a 2960 using a Gig SFP
My questions are:
1- Do I have to install the 2 TenGig converters(4-Gig Uplinks) in the same Module? Or can I use one one in module 5 and the second one in module 6?
2- Will changing the redundant mode to the shared backplane mode require rebooting the switch or disrupt the funtionality of the other linecards?
I'm currently pursuing to take my CCNA and am currently studying for it, but have recently encountered a problem with one of my 1760 routers that I can not solve.Yesterday I went to boot up my router like normal, however when I went into hyperterminal I noticed the router was in Rommon mode. Thinking I could change the configuration registry, I tried to bypass the NVRAM by using confreg 0x2142. However this still causes the router to go into Rommon mode. I am getting an error that states that there is insufficient memory to load the IOS image. [code]
I have used the dir flash: command and can see the IOS image, and try to boot from it (boot flash:iosimagename) but it will still go back into rommon mode. I also just swapped the RAM from my other 1760 into this 1760 and it booted up and went into normal configuraiton mode without any issues. However, the other router now will not load it's IOS image and I get the exact same error.I'm at a loss here, and have searched to figure out where or how I can just wipe the router clean to try and start fresh, but cannot get out or Rommon mode. The only thing I can think of is that the RAM went bad since it wont boot up either machine.
I have a network with spanning-tree mode mst, but, we want change this for spanning-tree mode rstp. I have two cores(6500) and need know what is the better mode for change this with no impact in my network?
We dont have distributing layer, like a "topology" below.

i can't get inside the "Console Interface Main Menu" where the switching from L2 to L3 will be done.
I have done the ff:
1. Upgraded firmware to 1.1.2.0 (latest)
2. Reset the switch to factory defaults.
3. The guide stated that in order to perform telnet to the switch, you need to enable it. So I logged in first in to the web GUI and enable telnet service.
4. I can now start telnet on the switch but I can't see the "Switch main menu".
All I can see are these lines from telnet:

We have two 6500s. One is running in power redundant mode and the other is running in combined mode.We need to change the one running in combined mode to redundant mode to ensure it can run ok on one supply if needed but I have a couple of questions.
1. Assuming that we are not oversubscribed on the power allocated, does changing the mode cause any disruption?
2. The switch running in combined mode seems to have allocated some power for an "Inline Local-Pwr-Pool" which is not allocated on the switch running in redundant mode (see attached). Does this allocation will be needed if we change the power mode?
Why rpr is the only available redundancy mode option available to me. I'm running a 4507R+E with twin SUP7-E's.

I have a user who is a work at home. She has an 871 Cisco Router with is connected to an ISP modem. Lately she has been getting connectivity issues. And a tech from the ISP troubleshooted it and said that the Cisco Router was not pulling an IP address. He said he queried the modem and got a null response on the IP address of the router. He cleared the ARP cace and rebooted the ISP modem; still the Cisco Router would not get an IP address. However when I went into the router, I noticed that there were many log alerts. It seems that the router is in quiet mode.

The issue is when is shutdown eth0 on the server, the corresponding interface on the switch (gi1/0/1) does not go down, show up and running.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIm looking for some clarification regarding running a Cisco ASA in transparent mode with multiple contexts. To give you an insight into the network design we have the following -
Collapsed Core/Aggregation Layer running Cisco 3750s. The 2 Cisco 3750s are using SVIs with HSRP for default gateways per customer with a total of 8 customers. Each customer is segregated into seperate VLANs with Cisco 2960 switches used in the Access layer. Each customer has 2 Cisco 2960 switches with redundant uplinks to the Core/Aggregation layer. Customers are spanning tree loadbalanced between core/aggregation switches.
What i need to now do is add two transparent firewalls into the mix in either an active/active or active/standby setup. I need the firewalls to support all 8 customers, therefore I am guessing they need to run in multiple context mode. Having read into this it has left me somewhat confused as to how to integrate them into the above setup as a bump in the wire so to speak.
I'm not able to find power redundancy mode when i do show power on my Cisco 4510R+R with SUP7E.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a 6513 with about 8 switches in it. I installed a Intel Pro PT NIC in a Dell PE2850 and setup the Team setting which created a bridge in the network connections.
10 minutes later, every server connected on that 'blade' went down and rebooted.
This happened once before to another tech here (I didn't know at the time it would do this but after he saw it he pointed it out)
My engineer onsite can't get into enable mode on his 2911 router. I've seen this before but I can't find out how I fixed it.
He gets an error saying : no password set

I've previously used trunkports and vlans between my ASA and accesspoints, connected directly. Now I want to put a 2960S-24PS-L bewteen. Where should i define the vlans (in the switch or in th ASA?) and what ports to put in trunk mode? (the ones on the switch or the one between the switch and the ASA?)
