Is it a bug?I need novell IPX in this case, I find supervisor 6E & 7E are already not support, so I have no choice to choose V-10GE.

Cisco Firewall :: Upload New Image To Standby ASA5520?

Nov 30, 2011

I have a pair of asa5520's in active/standby configuration.  I plan on ugrading the asa/asdm images to 8.4 shortly (currently on 8.0) and would like to do this with zero downtime.  Specifically, I would like to upload the new software to the standby unit, upgrade it, swap standby/active units and then upgrade what will become the standby after the swap. The problem I'm having is getting the new images uploaded onto the standby unit.  I've read that the routing table is not shared from the primary and the USB ports are "for future use".  I have no problem uploading the new images to the active unit via tftp...but can't do the same to the standby.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Stacking 3750-X With Universal Image With 3750-G Running BIN Image?

Oct 10, 2011

I'm looking at adding a Cisco 3750-X switch running c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE1 (IP base license) into a stack of 3750-G switches running c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE1.bin Given that the version and feature sets are the same I don't forsee any compatibility issues. Would there be any reason why a universal image wouldn't stack correctly with other switches running the single .bin file?

Cisco Firewall :: ASA5520 Running 8.3.1 Reboots When Try To Upload New Image

Mar 27, 2011

I'm running a couple of 5520 (with failover configuration) and fw 8.3.1. Everything worked fine until I try to upgrade firewall to new fw version: 8.4.1. [code]

When I try to upload new firrmware or asdm image, ASA,  the appliance reboots during tftp session. I've already tried to upload new images on both appliance, or use CLI either ASDM, but the result is always the same: ASA reboots.

From my point of view, the problem isn't the image but could be the firmware I'm running, becouse using fw. 8.0.1 I was able to upalod asdm 8.3.1, but using fw 8.3.1 I can't upload the same image.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Changing 4510-SUP-6E Redundant Mode To Share-Backplane Mode

Mar 12, 2013

I received the following info from Cisco's TAC and wanted to inquire further before I start reconfiguring the switch:

In a redundant Sup-6E setup, the following configuration is supported :

- 1 TenGig uplink on Active Sup and 1 TenGig uplink on Standby Sup
- 1 TenGig uplink on Active Sup and 2 Gig uplinks on Standby Sup
- 2 Gig uplinks on Active Sup and 1 TenGig uplink on Standby Sup
- 2 Gig uplink on Active Sup and 2 Gig uplinks on Standby Sup

If you invoke shared backplane mode, the following configuration can also be supported:

- 2 TenGig uplinks(blocking) on Active Sup and 2 TenGig uplinks on Standby Sup
- 2 TenGig uplink(blocking) on Active Sup and 4 Gig uplinks on Standby Sup
- 4 Gig uplinks on Active Sup and 2 TenGig uplinks(blocking) on Standby Sup
- 4 Gig uplink on Active Sup and 4 Gig uplinks on Standby Sup

Here's the command and information about the "shared-backplane" mode :- [URL]

Currently, we have 2  SUP 6-Es(Module 5 - Active and Module 6 - Stand-by) setup in a redundent mode. I am planning on changing the redundent mode to the shared backplane mode so I can use 2 TenGig converters to uplink 2 access-switches. We purchased 2 TenGig converters and here is how I am planning on using them:

1- One will be used  to uplink to two 3750 switches(stacked)
2- One will be used to uplink to a 2960 using a Gig SFP

My questions are:

1- Do I have to install the 2 TenGig converters(4-Gig Uplinks) in the same Module? Or can I use one one in module 5 and the second one in module 6?
2- Will changing the redundant mode to the shared backplane mode require rebooting the switch or disrupt the funtionality of the other linecards?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 1921 Limiting Upload To 1.5mbit?

Nov 28, 2012

We recently got a 1921 for our main office and we have a dedicated 15/15 connection. We're running on an 1871 right now that is not under my control so I can't even see it's running config. OK! So when I set my gateway to be the 1871, we can get our upload to over 6mbit (we have 8 branches, so won't ever get full 15 since they're using it too). With the gateway set as the 1921, it seems like we're stuck at 1.5. I haven't seen it go higher than that. I've looked over the config but can't see anything that would imply some kind of bandwidth limit but I have copied the config here.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Upload Large ACLs To NX-OS Nexus 7009?

Feb 3, 2013

We are migrating from Catalyst 6509 IOS platforms to Nexus 7009. There's the normal differences in commands which is well doucumented. We do have some quite large files containing ACLs varying from 10's of lines to several 1000's of lines. Our normal upload would be done using tftp and then issuing the command 'conf net' on the the 6509. This is no longer the way to do this on NX-OS. I've tried copy ftp: running-config which works fine for small files but for big ones it takes a long time, in some cases I've see it takes 20-30 minutes. The initilal tftp uplaod to the 7009 seems OK but the copy into the running-config is the bit that takes time and initially I thought I'd killed the 7009!! It did finally come back to the prompt. Are the 7009's simply not designed for large ACLs? I did try the configure session (Session Manager) but I couldn't see a way of uploading a file. I tried creating a new session and then exiting it, copying in a file of the same format and then commiting it but it didn't seem to acknowledge the file (checksum?).
