Dec 31, 2012I just received a new 4510R+E switch with CAT4500e SUP7e Universal Image cat4500e-universal.spa03.01.01.sg.150-1.x01.bin software imag with License Level ipbase. We specified in the order to receive CAT4500e Universal Crypto Image with License Level ipbase. I have since requested and received the latest CAT4500e Univeral Crypto Image cat4500e-universalk9-spa.03.04.00.sg.151-2.sg.bin. Is there anything other that just installing the new image that must be done to allow me to use the Crypto Image? Would this upgrade do anything to change my License Level ipbase?

I am running a Sup 720-3B.From what I understand, the boot image is a recovery image (mini IOS) - should the main IOS fail.Where should this be installed, sup-bootflash:/ or bootflash:/ ?,The file is “s72033-boot-mz.122-33.SXI11.bin.”The Boot Loader. My understanding is that Bootloaders are not used in these Sups with a MSFC3? I am not sure why TBH .. but would this be the case ?Rommon can be upgraded. I don’t quite understand if there are two ROMs (SP and RP).

My question is, which release that should i choose either the 15.0(1) SE3 or the latest 15.0(2)? Will it affect any of my configuration if i change to 15.0(2)?
Finally, what is the best practice to upgrade IOS in a stack whether to upgrade it 1 switch at a time or do it to all at once?

Jan 8, 2013I am trying to upgrade my cisco WS 2960 24 TC-L switch with the IOS image c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin and my existing IOS image is c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-50.SE5.bin. when i am copying it to flash, it is getting copied but when i tried to boot it after entering command boot system c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin , it gave me an error.
both flash dir and error are attahced herewith.

Mar 17, 2011I inadvertantly copy the wrong image on to a 35609-X switch and now it gets stuck in a particular mode.
The original image was: c3560e-universalk9-mz.122-53.SE2/c3560e-universalk9-mz.122-53.SE2.bin and I replaced it with: c3560e-universalk9npe-mz.122-55.SE1.bin ( this is what the download site identifies as the image for 3560X-24P-S)
It now sticks at: Front-end Microcode IMG MGR: Programming device 0...rrrrrrwssssssssssssssssssspssssssssssssssss
How can I get back on to delete this image? It ignores the break key.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: VG224 Quits After Upgrading IOS To 15 On 3560E Switch
May 15, 2013I recently upgraded a remote site of mine to IOS 15-2.SE ipbasek9 on 3 3560E series switches. On switch number 2 I have 5 VG224's running (vg224-i6k9s- m) 12.4(22)T3. After the switches reloaded the VG224's dropped their connection. After doing all basic troubleshooting I reloaded the 12.2 (58)SE2 ipbasek9 image back on to the 3560E's and the VG224's reconnected immediately after reload and all phones registered.
Is the problem a licensing issue with the 15.x IOS on the 3560's or do I need to upgrade the VG224's to IOS 15.x as well for them to connect and operate via the 3560e switch running 15-2?

Oct 31, 2011I've 3750X switch that isn't loading email. then I went to rommon mode and accidently for "format flash". after that I loaded 15.0 SE2 s/w on it using tftp server but it doesn't boot up with that image. flash had only .bin file after I loaded it from tftp server.
since it wasn't booting up, I did format flash again and thought to load image again from tftp server but now, it doesn't load image from tftp server.

Jan 23, 2012I was upgrading the newest software images on a c2950G switch. So i followed the step by step procedures from url...I removed the current flash that was on the switch and then for some reason typed reload. This started the switch up without the IOS. Make a long story short I am now stuck in switch: prompt mode and I am unable to use x-modem to transfer the newest IOS onto the switch. I am currently getting "no response remote system".

I have a cat 3560 to play with and I thought I would try and use the no switchport command test out routing with switch. I've got some type of route issue and I tried a few things which I thought would fix the issue but had no effect. I'll post the config and a few commands so you can see what the basic setup is.
Here we can see in the arp that it knows about both 10.7.1.2 (PC unable to ping 10.3.3.254) as well as 10.3.3.254 (ASA).I tried adding in a ip route of 10.7.0.0 255.255.0.0 10.3.3.110 as well as 10.3.3.254. Neither produced the results I wanted allowing 10.7.1.2 (PC) to ping the ASA (10.3.3.254). [code]

May 8, 2012I have an environment of 3 X 3560G of which I have 1st switch-CORE(f0/10) connecting to the VPN router(CE) interface-f0/0. Remaining 2 Cisco 3560's(Access) are connected to Gi0/1 and Gi0/2 on the 1st switch-CORE via gi0/1 . On all three switches I have created multiple VLANs and assigned ports to these VLAN. The switch to switch connection is trunk allowing all VLANs created on all these 3 switches. Now the issue is how I am going to have all these VLANs routed through single interface on the routeri-e f0/0, as all these subnets will communicating to remote site over VPN. What should be default gateway on the 2 Access switches and the CORE switch, also what static route should be on router to reach all subnets(VLANs) created on these 3 switches.
I have read inter-VLAN routing i-e creating sub interfaces on router but dont want to proceed with that and looking for any other way to have my VLANs talk on all three switches and then are accessible to remote site ove VPN?

Firstly, I understand that this config will add a tag of "precedence 5" to a packet if it matches the "ACL_QOS_GOLD_In" access list. Question is does the router see this "precedence 5" tag and then sets the priority, or am I missing something in my config where at present it just sees the "precedence 5" and doesn’t act on it ?
Secondly, Since the "precedence 5" tag has already been added to the packets, do downstream routers see this tag and act accordingly or so I need to configure those is well ? [code]

Currently all the cisco phones are connected to this switch and configuration with only one vlan that is voice vlan .
1) what is the outcome of this configuration , i mean, what will be the expected output ? end of the day we need to prioritize the voice traffic but why other commands including threshold and buffers are mentioned with respectives queues , if I need to explain that what am i expecting out of this configuration ?
2) this is LAN QoS which i understood but again , do i need to configure policy-map along with class-map which is MQC on this switch ?
3) i have edge router where i have MQC already configured but confusion with this switch which is working as a Access switch .
4) I referred the cisco QoS document for the respetive model whereas we have policy-map configured on the same switch with class-map .
My understanding is if we have configured the LAN QoS , and mapped the CoS value with DSCP , we need not to have MQC.

Nov 9, 2011I am configuring some quotes for a customer whom I will be building a wireless network for. The wireless network will support about 60 AP's, as well as some other wired drops. The customer is working with a wireless vendor for the AP's, but I will be able to sell the switches for the network.
I want to ensure that he is pushing Gig and POE on each copper port for the AP's, since they will be "N" capable. I have selected several 3560 models which are in 24 port models, and I also think i have a requirement which mandates a 48 port in another location. What I have not been able to find in the Enterprise switch line is an 8 port which supports IOS and POE.
That being said, and since I am also "Select" certified, I went out to the SMB site, and did find that there were two models in the Small Business 300 line (models SG300-10P and SG300-10MP) which seem to support Gig ports as well as POE. I looked over the specs for each one of the two respective models, and I was not able to find what the difference between each of these two are. In other words, the specs, line by line, were identical.
