May 29, 2013I have a stack of 8 3750x switches connected via Stackwise. In addition, I have these switches configured as two Powerstacks. When I look at the Powerstacks, they are showing as being in power-sharing mode. When I look at the individual switches, they show as standalone. Right now, I have 1 switch in each powerstack that has two power supplies, and then the other three have a single power supply. Below is the output for "Show stack-power detail" as well as the Powerstack configurations.

Dec 16, 2012I have a Cisco WS-C2960S-48TD-L with 12.2(55)SE2.This is a standalone switch, not in stack, and with no order it reboots itself looking for a new master election. On logging i have nothing, but connected with console cable i see the following after 2 minutes of not showing anything:

After searching online i have no seeing nothing about disable the feature of the stack so i configure the priority for the "switch 1" to 15 and configure it the switches 2, 3 and 4 to no provision, although this switches don´t exist:

Feb 3, 2013The field engineer has a stand alone 24 port 2900 series switch that he has different equipment connected to and are segmented using VLANs. So for example, he's got ports 1-4 assigned to VLAN 10, 5-12 assigned to VLAN 20, 13-19 assigned to VLAN 30 and 20-24 assigned to VLAN 40. He would like all the gear on VLAN 30 to have the ablity to talk to all of the other VLANS, but VLAN 40 should not be allowed to talk with any other VLAN. Trunking would do no good here since the switch isn't connected to anything and you can only assign one VLAN per port.
Is there a way to do this within the stand alone switch? The only possible way I could think of would be to ensure that each VLAN has an assigned IP number (subnet) and doing this through access lists.

In a redundant Sup-6E setup, the following configuration is supported :
- 1 TenGig uplink on Active Sup and 1 TenGig uplink on Standby Sup
- 1 TenGig uplink on Active Sup and 2 Gig uplinks on Standby Sup
- 2 Gig uplinks on Active Sup and 1 TenGig uplink on Standby Sup
- 2 Gig uplink on Active Sup and 2 Gig uplinks on Standby Sup
If you invoke shared backplane mode, the following configuration can also be supported:
- 2 TenGig uplinks(blocking) on Active Sup and 2 TenGig uplinks on Standby Sup
- 2 TenGig uplink(blocking) on Active Sup and 4 Gig uplinks on Standby Sup
- 4 Gig uplinks on Active Sup and 2 TenGig uplinks(blocking) on Standby Sup

Currently, we have 2 SUP 6-Es(Module 5 - Active and Module 6 - Stand-by) setup in a redundent mode. I am planning on changing the redundent mode to the shared backplane mode so I can use 2 TenGig converters to uplink 2 access-switches. We purchased 2 TenGig converters and here is how I am planning on using them:
1- One will be used to uplink to two 3750 switches(stacked)
2- One will be used to uplink to a 2960 using a Gig SFP
My questions are:
1- Do I have to install the 2 TenGig converters(4-Gig Uplinks) in the same Module? Or can I use one one in module 5 and the second one in module 6?
2- Will changing the redundant mode to the shared backplane mode require rebooting the switch or disrupt the funtionality of the other linecards?

I cannot go into its privilege mode. even typing enable still cant go to its # mode. whats the problem with this router? how am i able to fix it? its initial problem was it cannot carry more pc client anymore.. 815 series has a 4 switch port at its back and a wan port.the 4 switch port cannot access the internet if connected to 4 pc clients.

Dec 10, 2011I'm currently pursuing to take my CCNA and am currently studying for it, but have recently encountered a problem with one of my 1760 routers that I can not solve.Yesterday I went to boot up my router like normal, however when I went into hyperterminal I noticed the router was in Rommon mode. Thinking I could change the configuration registry, I tried to bypass the NVRAM by using confreg 0x2142. However this still causes the router to go into Rommon mode. I am getting an error that states that there is insufficient memory to load the IOS image. [code]
I have used the dir flash: command and can see the IOS image, and try to boot from it (boot flash:iosimagename) but it will still go back into rommon mode. I also just swapped the RAM from my other 1760 into this 1760 and it booted up and went into normal configuraiton mode without any issues. However, the other router now will not load it's IOS image and I get the exact same error.I'm at a loss here, and have searched to figure out where or how I can just wipe the router clean to try and start fresh, but cannot get out or Rommon mode. The only thing I can think of is that the RAM went bad since it wont boot up either machine.

2. Reset the switch to factory defaults.
3. The guide stated that in order to perform telnet to the switch, you need to enable it. So I logged in first in to the web GUI and enable telnet service.
4. I can now start telnet on the switch but I can't see the "Switch main menu".
All I can see are these lines from telnet:

Oct 2, 2012We have two 6500s. One is running in power redundant mode and the other is running in combined mode.We need to change the one running in combined mode to redundant mode to ensure it can run ok on one supply if needed but I have a couple of questions.
1. Assuming that we are not oversubscribed on the power allocated, does changing the mode cause any disruption?
2. The switch running in combined mode seems to have allocated some power for an "Inline Local-Pwr-Pool" which is not allocated on the switch running in redundant mode (see attached). Does this allocation will be needed if we change the power mode?

Apr 23, 2012I have a user who is a work at home. She has an 871 Cisco Router with is connected to an ISP modem. Lately she has been getting connectivity issues. And a tech from the ISP troubleshooted it and said that the Cisco Router was not pulling an IP address. He said he queried the modem and got a null response on the IP address of the router. He cleared the ARP cace and rebooted the ISP modem; still the Cisco Router would not get an IP address. However when I went into the router, I noticed that there were many log alerts. It seems that the router is in quiet mode.

Nov 16, 2011Im looking for some clarification regarding running a Cisco ASA in transparent mode with multiple contexts. To give you an insight into the network design we have the following -
Collapsed Core/Aggregation Layer running Cisco 3750s. The 2 Cisco 3750s are using SVIs with HSRP for default gateways per customer with a total of 8 customers. Each customer is segregated into seperate VLANs with Cisco 2960 switches used in the Access layer. Each customer has 2 Cisco 2960 switches with redundant uplinks to the Core/Aggregation layer. Customers are spanning tree loadbalanced between core/aggregation switches.
What i need to now do is add two transparent firewalls into the mix in either an active/active or active/standby setup. I need the firewalls to support all 8 customers, therefore I am guessing they need to run in multiple context mode. Having read into this it has left me somewhat confused as to how to integrate them into the above setup as a bump in the wire so to speak.
