Cisco Switching/Routing :: 877 - Directing Static Ip Traffic To Certain Machine

Dec 18, 2011

We have one machine running an application accessible remotely. We have cisco877 router, and static ip to access the application remotely. We recently done an update of out application software which has changed the access port/link to application.

since we update the software We can access the application internally through local ip but is not accessible through WAN with static ip, as the port no has changed.

I not having much knowledge of networking don't know what changes should be made in router so it direct the traffic of static ip to the machine running the web application, as before.

I tried looking for clue in router through its SDM Express interface, but no joy.

Cisco :: Directing Traffic Through Catalyst 2940

Aug 2, 2012

I have a Cisco Catalyst 2940 switch, eight ports. Ports 1-4 are connected to a media converter A. Ports 5-6 and 7-8 goes to two separate servers, B and C. Let's say I want traffic from B->5->1->A then through some equipment (which just pushes the data) and back through A->2->6->C without the data just recognizing a shorter path B->5->6->C and thereby skipping the equipment in between. Is this possible without a router? Ridiculous set-up? Yes, though the switch is the only means I have to connect to the media converter in this case.

Cisco WAN :: 3750 Routing Traffic Using A PBR Precedence Over Static Route?

Feb 16, 2012

I have a new MPLS circuit being stood up for my site; it’s going to replace a site to site VPN connection to our "Headquarters." I want to test this without affecting my production networks. Without getting into alot of details, the admin at the remote site is not very cooperative and basically doesn't want to set this up and I don't have access to his switching/routing. He is prepared to do minimal tasks if necessary. Ultimately, I am looking to test the new Vlan, once successful, route the traffic away from the Site to Site VPN connection to the MPLS circuit. Here is what I plan on doing, I need to determine if it is going to work.

LAN in my office uses EIGRP for routing. MPLS (10.1.1.253) uses OSPF (area 0) and BGP. Currently, traffic destined to headquarters (10.10.1.1/24) uses the default route on a CAT3750 pointing to the firewall (ASA5520) (10.1.1.254).Create new VLAN/DHCP scope to use as a test Vlan to test the new MPLS circuit. 10.1.199.0/24Create static routes on 3750 destined for headquarters for L2L VPN traffic pointing to firewall so traffic to headquarters remains on the L2L connection. ip route 10.10.1.1 255.255.255.0 10.1.1.254 (once I share routes with OSPF, routes to Headquarters will be advertised over the MPLS)Create OSPF instance on the 3750 advertising only the new subnet so that the MPLS network knows to route this traffic over the MPLS for return traffic from headquarters. (this is where it is grey as I don’t know OSPF at all) The switch has a L3 interface which the MPLS router uses as its gateway, so there is direct communication.router-ospf 0 network 10.1.199.0 0.0.0.255 area 0 4. On 3750 create a PBR for the new subnet so that it is routed over the MPLS, (imagine test PC is 10.1.199.100), the remaining production subnets will use the static routes and ignore the OSPF routes because of the shorter administrative distance. Will the PBR route win over the static route for that one subnet? Is that all I need in the OSPF configuration? I see some configs that have neighbor statements with costs, authentication types etc..

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3550 - Export Mac Address From Switch To Local Machine?

Jan 8, 2013

I am working on Cisco 3550 switch on a certain requirement. I have got an access point connected to the switch and few mobile phones connected to the access point. I get the list of mac addresses connected to the switch ( Both access point's mac address & the clients addresses) by "show mac-address table dynamic" command. However, i am unable/confused to get the output of the following scenarios:

1. I would require to export the mac address from the switch to the local machine in any format (May be by using an SNMP tool, if available) so that the same needs to be used in my C# for development. What would be the way for the same ?

2. The mac address in the mac address table doesn't get updated dynamically. (Eg Scenario: A wifi client gets connected to an access point which inturn is connected to the switch, the mac address of the client shows up in the switch table. However if the client is disconnected, the client's mac address would still be displayed in the switch table )

Cisco Routers :: RV220W Machine Can't Send Or Receive Any Traffic To WAN Side

Aug 22, 2011

I have a RV220W (running fw version 1.0.2.4) that i am trying to configure for a client.  They are set up on Comcast with 13 available IP's.  I should note that this netowrk is now currently running without issue using a Cisco Pix 506e.  Unfortunately, the Pix is almost impossible to configure using the GUI now as I have to load a 4-year old version of Java now just to get the PDM to load. But I digress.I've set up the RV using the identical settings as the Pix on bth the LAN and WAN side.  When I do, computers on the LAN side can all reach the Internet ok.  However, once I enable one-to-one NAT for an internal server, that machine can't send or receive ANY traffic to the WAN side.  I've even tried setting access rules enabling ANY traffic in both directions, and that has no effect.  Either I'm missing something, or this is just one more bug in this product.

Even though it was a bit of a step down going from the Pix to the RV220W, it was done for the ease of setting up VPN's as I was ready to purchase a second one for a new satellite office opening in a few weeks.  It looks like we will be switching vendors on the router side as my faith in Cisco is waning at this point.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750X Static Routing When Running LAN Base?

Dec 27, 2012

I have a stack of 2 x 3750X switches these are running 12.2(55)SE5. I needed to add some static IP routes and found that the ‘ip routing’ command is not supported. I came across a document that stated “On switches running the LAN base feature, static routing on VLANs is supported only with Cisco IOS Release 12.2(58)SE and later.” So I have upgraded to 12.2(58)SE2, but ‘ip routing’ is still not a valid command.

The release notes state:“On the Cisco Catalyst 3560-X and 3750-X Series, it adds support for 16 static IPv4 routes in the LAN Base image.”

I have read other posts that talk about running the ‘sdm prefer routing’ command which I have done, but I am still unable to add any routes or run the ‘ip routing’ command.

I have a Cisco 1841 router at home with version 12.4(13r)T advanced ip services. The setup is extremely simple:

1) PPPOE dialer to my service provider over ADSL
2) Nat overload on the dialer interface.
3) 2 V LAN s one for home network (wired) and one for wireless both v LAN's are connected through interface v LAN s respectively.

My problem is when I configure static NAT to map RDP or any other protocol to inside hosts this does n`t work.
 "
ip nat source static tcp 192.168.20.3 2222 interface Dialer1 2222
ip nat source static tcp 192.168.20.3 3389 xx.xx.xx.xx 3389 extendable
ip nat inside source list 20 interface Dialer1 overload

When I open wire shark and sniff the traffic on home computer which is the one I`m trying to reach I can't see any traffic. And While performing Nat debugging I am also not able to see traffic going to that port (for example 3389).

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 871 Creating Multiple Static NAT

Mar 11, 2012

I am trying to configure a Cisco 871 router.I have 3 servers on my network that need static public IPs but also still need to communicate on the local network.

I have given my WAN interface the first IP in the block and set up PAT for the rest of the computers on the network which is working fine. Next I set up static NAT rules for the servers translating 3 of the remaining public IPs to the internal addresses of the servers.

I can access those servers internally using the public IPs but not from outside the network. A tracroute from outside the network gets dropped when it gets to my ISP.

I've never configured more than one static ip for a network before and i know i've just missed a step here. Do I also need to set up static routes? Will that update the next hop's routing table?

We need to make sure traffic can hit the ASA @ site A on the  inside interface and trafiic will forward to the MPLS VPN router which  then handles the traffic. Too, will it cause any problems in  bi-directional flow between the two sites?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2911 Static / Reserved IP Based Off Of MAC

Feb 12, 2013

I have a Cisco 2911 router and a Cisco 2960 switch at a remote location.I have a user who will work out of this office a few days out of the week and will need to obtain the same IP address everytime the user visits this office. This office has no file server, no dhcp server. I have the user's MAC address and for now, the user is getting an IP address that is leased for 30 days. I'm trying to find the best way to configure either the router or switch or both so that each time this user connects to this office, that user device will always pull the same IP address and of course no other device will use that IP.

I've did some research in creating a small vlan possibly, and assigning it specifically to the port# that the user's desk is at, but not sure if that's the best way or exactly sure how it'll work. I'm currently studying for my CCNA so this is all new to me and I'm trying to do research and test without obviously causing production issues especially given this is a remote site and I access these devices via putty.  I can however drive to the site if needed for testing, but I'd like to have a good grasp on what method I'll be using that will work before I actually make the trip.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 861 Need DHCP Server With Static IP Addresses

Feb 2, 2013

I used to use a CentOS self-made server for intranet for my little office, but I bouth few days ago a Cisco 861 router to replace the linux box.

1. I have 2 public IP classes from my ISP. 1 class is limitted to 80mbit upload, the other to 30mbit upload. So I need some sort of DNAT to be able to know exactly which intranet computer uses big internet and which one limitted internet.
2. I need DHCP server and with static IP addresses (one computer must always have the same IP address, etc).. i have my needs for this.
3. Also I need external access to some servers inside (web, ftp, etc) [code]

So far so good, all looks simple and I can achieve this in 2 hours on a centos linux box (correct routes, ip forwarding enabled and few iptables rules for NAT/SNAT/DNAT).

But on this brand new Centos router well, i'm not even successful in pinging the outside world, nor the inside world I'm tired of reading the forums, the documentation..i want (at first) a simple scenario: vlan+dhcp, fa4 with 1 public ip address and ACCESS to the real world. I wasn't able to achieve not even that much. [code]

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Routing Traffic In ASA5520 Failover Scenario

Apr 2, 2012

We're in the process of swapping in a new pair of ASA5520s and Catalyst 3750s to support two separate business units. We want Firewall A and Switch A to handle traffic for Org A (VLAN 100). Similarly, firewall B and Switch B should handle traffic for Org B (VLAN200). But we want to be able to fail traffic over in case of firewall or switch failure. Traffic between the two Orgs is being routed at the switch level. [code]

The uplink interface on each switch is currently a routed port with a static address on the uplink subnet.  This works fine in a normal state.  However, when we fail over one of the firewall contexts to the other chassis, this results in the inability to route internal traffic because the internal interface is now physically connected to a different switch with a different IP port address (obvious in hindsight).  The question is, rather than a routed port, what would be the proper way to handle traffic between the switches and firewalls in a failover scenario? If I make the uplink ports into trunks, won't this cause all packets destined for either firewall to hit both both?  Seems like that's not the way to go either? [code]

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Internet Traffic Not Routing Through VPN 891w?

Feb 21, 2013

I have an 891w as my edge device for my home office. I have a VLAN for family use (wired and wireless) that routes out to the internet just fine. I have a second VLAN assigned to a VPN tunnel that backhauls traffic to my corporate network (wired and wireless) and all of the traffic gets to the corporate network fine when I am on that VLAN.

However, while I am on the VPN VLAN, no traffic gets to the internet. I believe it is because I have the gateway of last resort (0.0.0.0) set to the WAN IP address provided by my ISP, so DNS is resolving against corporate, but because there is no specific route, it is trying to dump the traffic back out the WAN without traversing the VPN tunnel.
