Cisco Switching/Routing :: Can LLDP Be Disabled On SGE2000 Switch
May 2, 2013
I just want the switch to be quiet so that I can perform some network testing with only the connected hosts showing up in my traffic analysis program. But every 30 seconds or so the switch sends out an LLDP packet. This switch is only used in the lab for running tests so I know I don't need the LLDP feature running.
This article explains how to disable LLDP globally on a Catalyst switch, but I can't find any option to disable LLDP in the SGE2000's configuration menus.

I have not been able to find the option to turn on LLDP for our Polycom (Lync) Phones. Is this not an option for this model router (C1861)?

I have recently purchased a a Cisco SGE2000 switch and when connected to it via console cable, I was introduced to "Switch main menu" which was kind of a GUI interface. I found a way of accessing what is called a lightweight CLI (lcli). After having a few searches on google it turns out that this switch doesn't have a proper CLI. Is this possible at all? I thought that all managed switches have CLI?

I'm having trouble getting a stack of three sge2000 switches to connect together and NOT reboot. Two of the switches are older Linksys sge2000s and they stack well together, but as soon as i connect the new Cisco sge2000, it will make them both reboot sequentially, even though it detects that it needs to be #3 in the stack.SW 1 port 24 is connected to SW 2 port 12 and they function correctly (both of the linksys switches). The documentation states they should be connected in a ring topology so I first tried completing the loop with SW3 (the newer cisco sge2000). When that had the aforementioned troubles I just connected SW2 port 24 to SW3 port 12. Still forcing the switches to reboot.I SUSPECT it may be a firmware/software issue, but I wanted to check if they'ed even work together.

I was handed two SGE2000 24-port 10/100/1000 switches. The default IP address does not work on either of them. Short of doing a hardware reset, is there an IP discovery utility that I can run.how I can find the IP?

I'm seeing several error messages like these in the logs of my Nexus 5548UP switches.
2012 Apr 24 16:39:41.470 SSV_5K_SW2 %LLDP-5-SERVER_ADDED: Server with Chassis ID aaaa.bbbb.cccc Port ID mgmt0 management address X.X.X.X discovered on local port mgmt0 in vlan 0 with enabled capability Bridge

2012 May 2 05:06:40.328 COR_CCO-NX-5548-UP_01 %LLDP-5-SERVER_ADDED: Server with Chassis ID aaaa.bbbb.cccd Port ID aaaa/bbbb.cccc management address NIL discovered on local port Eth1/1 in vlan 0 with enabled capability None
I will say that these 5548s are serving as the distribution layer for a UCS chassis (2x 6120 FIs) but didn't know what kind of visibility the Nexus would have into that - the chassis keyword is what's alluding to this in my mind, and I'm seeing these messages whenever interfaces that connect downstream to the fabric interconnects are brought up or down.

I'm trying to configure LLDP-MED between a Cat45010+E Sup7 (IOS 15.1) and Polycom CX600 Lync phones. I have created and applied the correct network policy for the interfaces.
From these sites, I need to send all the correct TLVs or the phones won't respond: {URL}.
When a scour the config of the switch, I can't find any related configuration commands relating to the specific LLDP-MED TLV components which are enabled/disabled. Where are they hiding? I would like to confirm which TLVs are being sent by my switch and if they are matched to the phone. I can always use the DHCP method, put this is not preferred.

DHCP Relay on a SGE2000 switch.I have configured two VLANs on the switch, VLAN2 (192.168.10.x/24) and VLAN3 (192.168.9.x/24). I have the switch in Layer 3 mode. I have configured the DHCP relay server of 192.168.10.4 and the DHCP Interfaces as VLAN3. All of the IP Static Routes were generated by the switch.
If I put a client computer on a port that is Untagged VLAN 3 and try to get a DHCP address from the server on an Untagged VLAN 2 port I never get a response back.I have done some packet captures and here is what I have found:
I see the DHCP broadcast on the client computerI see the DHCP Request on the DHCP server coming from the IP assiged to the switch on VLAN 3 (192.168.9.254)I see the DHCP server respond with a DHCP OfferThe DHCP offer never gets to the client computer I can't seem to get a DHCP address to any system not on the same VLAN as the DHCP server. Option 82 is disable and I did try enabling it, which made no difference.

I currently am using the SGE2000 switches for our datacentre and they have run great. We are looking at replacing them as part of our normal equipment refresh and have questions about what is the best switch for us. We are looking at upgrading to at least 48 port switches which isn't a huge issue. The main purposes of the switches will be for iSCSI traffic between Starwind SANs and Vsphere 5.1 hosts. We had some latency issues with one of the SGE2000s but otherwise they've been great.
We also will use these switches to handle our feeds from our ISP and our normal interserver communications. We have had DDoS attacks in the past of 40k packets per second and 600mbps and the SGE2000 never even flinched. We don't need it for any layer3 routing (which we use virtualized PFsense for). Looking at the Miercom report the SG200 series looks like it would be fine for us but I'm just worried around the part which mentions it becoame unresponsive in a DoS attack and also whther it may be slower for iSCSI. Both series seem to support flow control and jumbo frames.

We have a standalone Cisco SGE 2000.
We lost connectivity to the web user interface - it no longer responds on the configured IP address. From the manual we see that by default the switch get its IP address via DHCP - but we find no record of any ip address assigned to this switch. Is there a IP address that this unit defaults to when DHCP is not available? Also - what is the best way to connect to the console using Windows 7?

I have a major problem with our core 2801 router. In summary it appears that a staff member disabled password recovery, deleted the IOS and rebooted. Net result is no Rommon and no IOS on the flash. I've read that the Conf-Reg will be reset if I remove the NVRAM but I cannot identify it on the board. If I can get to Rommon I can recover. Currently I don't have Flash reader to restore to flash.

I just purchased a used Catalyst 2900 XL switch and have not been succesful in connecting to the console via minicom 2.5 running on Ubuntu 12.04 or 11.10, I don’t even get junk charecters in the terminal or echo on input. The switch passes POST according to the LEDs on the front and the network ports are fucntional for switching purpouses.
I’m using a Prolific PL2303 USB-Serial adapter, which works with minicom to console into another device. I’ve tried every baud rate available and tried combonations of hardware flow control, software flow control, and niether.I’ve tested the pinout of the console cable and all pins map correctly according to Cisco spec.I’ve also tried Cutecom, putty, and screen. I have not tried HyperTerminal because I do not use windows. Is it possible that the previous owner disabled console access? Do I need to reboot the switch each time I test a different baud rate?

I've got a pair of N7010's in a vPC domain with some FEX's attach running NX-OS 6.0.2. I am experiencing port failures on my N7K-M132XP-12L module the port got shut down due to internal errors with Error Disabled status and I am not able to bring the port back up. I am getting the following errors when I try to reset it. I am hoping is not hardware related as my vPC peer-link is on this module and I only have a single N7K-M1 32 XP-12L in each N7010. Replacing the module will be painful. [code]

I have a Cisco Catalyst 2960 series switch. When I connect another switch or a VMWare Esx server on one of the ports, the port blinks for few seconds and then goes off. When I connect a desktop or laptop or a windows server the ports stay led and I can access resources on the network. However, when connect another switch or a vmware esx server, the port is disabled.
What config in the switch can I check to make sure the ports stay on regardless when I connect a desktop / laptop, switch or vmware server?

I'm using 4 wap200 cisco AP, 1 wap200e linksys AP and 1 cisco sf300-24p switch. Every AP has 2 SSIDs,one is for clients and one for mobile devices.I have updated the equipment to the latest firmware but I still encounter the same issue. The mobile devices go through APs and once every 2 days, my wap200e blocks its lan interface. I suspected a stp issue, because the switch was seeing MAC addresses coming from different ports. So I disabled STP on the switch and on the AP. The annoying thing thing is that none of my other antennas get cut off.I tried replacing it with a cisco wap200e,same issue.
