I have a customer who just bought a pair of N5K and wanted to replace his current HP E3800 as Core. He wants to use the 4 x stacked HP E3800 connect back to the N5K. Will I be able to utilize VPC through a bundled 2 or 4 x 10G (40G) connection (10 or 20G on 1 switch, and 10 or 20G on another switch) from the stacked HP E3800s to the N5548s? I know you can do that with Cisco 3750s.
View 1 RepliesIm trying to stack 2 3750E-24PD-S and 2 3750X-12S-S. The 2 3750E finds eachother and stacks with one master as they should. The problem is that and the 3750X does the exact same thing instead of joining the 3750E stack.Both runs the same IOS (c3750e-ipbasek9-mz.122-58.SE2).The stackingcables are connected like following atm (I tried booting up the switches one at a time and all at once, no difference in the result).

Also is the license associated with the MAC address of a specific switch? What i# am trying to know also, is if we have to install one license and it is associated# with one MAC and this switch failed.. will the Layer 3 be broken?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have a stack of 3750G switches with a cross stack etherchannel connected to a 3750E stack in the distribution layer.The 3750G stack is running 15.0-2SE IP Base. I began noticing the Mac flap issue when I was Re-enabling dot1x on the switchports. As first I thought dot1x maybe have contributed to this so I removed it from the stack temporarily.I am still seeing Mac flap logs usually when a machine reboots or re-connects back to the network. These are all wired desktops.I started looking at the etherchannel configuration which is using LACP. The 3750E stack looks fine with all ports in mode active. On the problematic 3750G stack I noticed 3 of the ports in the etherchannel set to mode active and 1 port set to mode passive. The port shows as bundled but I can't imagine this is ok.The only other difference on this one port is there is no mls qos commands like on the other 3 interfaces in the port channel.I mainly need to know what the Mac flapping is about. Whether it is a bug or related to the current etherchannel configuration.

I read some where that it is possible to install IP serivces license to only management switch and no need to purchase/install same license to other switches on the stack. But, I could not find/recall where I read it and as far as I know it was not official cisco documentation.

If yes then, is it mandatory to do the "Switch 4 to Switch 1" stack. why am I asking this is because this stack requires a long cable and the cable which comes with the Switch is only 0.5M.
My company is beginning to have a lot of sites were we are stacking 3 to 4 C2960S-48 switche.This is making "show running-config" very very long because of the 4 x 48 interfaces.I can’t find a CLI command that show me the running-config of a ranges of interfaces. If I for example would like to see running-config for switch 3 (interfaces 3/0/1-52)The Show Running-config will show all the interfaces (for the two first swtiche = 104 interfaces), which take a time before I reach to switch 3.I miss a CLI command like: show Running-config switch 3, or module 3, or show running-config interface range x/x/x-x ?I’m well aware of the CLI command show running-config interface x/x/x, but this will only show me one interface.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two 3750x stacked switches , both with the latest firmware on them. I enter the configuration onto one switch and it obviously copies over onto the other switch. Although in the configuration I have both a console username and password and an enable password, when I try to log onto the initial switch that I entered the configuration on, I am prompted for a username and password, which works fine, but when I try to enter enable mode i get an error stating that no password has been set. However when logging onto the other switch I am not prompted for a username or password but when I try to enter enable mode I am prompted for a password and can access it with no problems.

on 3560-1 switch, there isn't any ip-default gateway or ip route configured. It only have 1 interface vlan configured.
on 3560-2 switch, there is ip default gateway configured along with 1 interface vlan.
What i dont understand here is that, i can reach out to other subnets from 3560-1 switch in which the routing is not enabled?
Should I install any special license to enable vrf within Nexus 7000 VDC? I observed that vrf routing instance is not enabled in the VDC.

From my understanding these switches come with the ipbase license as default, and the other switch I received (3750X-24P-S) has this license loaded with no issues.

I had problem with IP conflit address from cisco router 2911 , all the time the router respond with ARP reply (duplicate use of IP : x.y.z.t with the same Mac Address ) and the IP subject of conflit dosen't appear in any router's interfaces configuration (basic configuration without dhcp) ,the problem was solved problem when I desactivete proxy arp but I can't understand this behavior , why arp proxy respond to all IP address with same Mac even the IP dosen't exist in router ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe are seeing output drops on a C3560 switchport, this port does not have QoS enabled -- application does not need special qos treatment, as long as packets are not droppd, so I suppose all traffic will share the same queue? then how should I read the output of "show platform port-asic stats drop" which indicates that it is queue 3 weight 2 drop? I am wondering what is the best way to fix this? enable mls QoS and increase queue 3 bandwidth share on this interface or just increase the output queue depth?

I have sent the port to TCP since that is what is configured on the SYSLOG server which is a CENTOS 5.8, running rsyslogd.I have tested the rsyslogd locally and it work.However i want to send any and all log messages in the buffer to my syslog server and it is not working.there is no firewall on the CENTOS and the ASA firewall filter is enabled for outgoing traffic.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to apply a policy-based route on one of our L3 switches (Cisco 3750) to change the next-hop of a couple of servers only. The VLAN where those servers reside got WCCP enabled on it. When I want to apply the route-policy to that VLAN interface it doesn't let me. When I try to apply the same policy to a VLAN interface without WCCP it does work. Is there any Cisco IOS limitations that would prevent me from doing that?

When auto-QoS is enabled on the switch, priority queuing is not enabled. Instead, the switch uses shaped round robin (SRR) as the queuing mechanism. The auto-QoS feature is designed on each platform based on the feature set and hardware limitations, and the queuing mechanism supported on each platform might be different. There is no workaround. View 40 Replies View RelatedI have a customer that is seeing output drops on a 2960S with mls qos not enabled. It appears that they are getting bursts traffic on the switch that is filling up the buffers, hence causing the drops. I have a couple of questions:
1. What are the default queue/buffer settings when mls qos is NOT enabled on the switch.
2. Is there any good documentation out there regarding the buffer sizes of the different switch models
The customer is looking for an answer as to whether or not replacing the 2960S with a higher model would eliminate the output drops WITHOUT having to mess with QOS/buffer/drop threshold settings on the switch, and Cisco doesn't seem to make the buffer sizes readily available for the the smaller Catalyst switches.

I have a 2x Cisco 3750G switches (Stacked) that are part of an IP Video Surveillance System .All network is set to 1 VLAN (VLAN 1 default).The Cisco SWs ( Core ) are configured with IGMP Querier + Snooping .Connected to the Cisco SWs are 4 Fiber Rings(Loops) for redundancy . RSTP and IGMP Snooping are enabled on all the network SWs .Network Architecture Figure :
When all Fiber Rings (Loops ) are connected , the Cisco and Ring SWs spanning-tree tables show the blocked and forwarding ports properly .I am able to connect all my IP Cams + Encoders to the Ring SWs and connect my Servers + WorkStations to the Cisco SWs to record and view the multicast ip streams .All streams from Rings 1 ,3 and 4 are getting normally to the Servers + WorkStations through multicast ( IGMP Snooping are filled correctly on the Cisco and non-Cisco SWs ) . All multicast streams are joined normally except for Ring 2 .The Multicast streams passing through Ring 2 will operate normally for around 2 hours then after that the Fiber SWs begin to flood their multicast traffic causing the cams on the same switch to drop off the network .
I checked the Configuration of all the SWs on Ring 2 but all are are the same .
What is weird is that I have to set all the streams to unicast to stop the flooding just on Ring 2 (All other rings are not affected ) then after some time if I enabled a video multicast stream on one of the SWs of the Ring it will be streamed properly to the Servers + WorkStations ( All IGMP tables along the way will be filled properly ) then again after 2 hours or so , the flooding will start again suddenly and all IGMP table entries for the SW on Ring2 will be empty . No problem occurs on the other Rings which have more multicast streams .
My Toshiba laptop running Vista as an operating connects just fine to the wireless network at my house. However, I will soon be house-sitting at a house that also has security-enabled wireless available. I connect just fine at my house, but whenever I put in the password at their house it says that that it cannot connect because of a timeout. I can't figure out what the problem is, because I recently went to the public library that has wifi and got on just fine. why in the world it will not connect to this specific wireless router??

View 3 Replies View RelatedCiscoSwitch1(4506) has 3 VLANs(12,13,14) and Switch2(4948) has 3 different VLANs(22,23,24) and IP routing has been enabled in both switches with SVI interfaces for each vlan. intervlan routing is works fine.Now there is a requirement to connect these switches together. Vlan 12 on the Cisco switch 4506 has to be made available from vlan 22 from Switch2(4948). basically Vlan 12 is having a multicast source (225.0.0.0 & 226.0.0.0) which should be accessabile from vlan 22 of cisco switch 4948.I got 2 ideas
1) Create a trunk between these switches and configure L2 vlan(12) in cisco 4948...i know theoritically it should work but what my concern is Ip routing enabled in both switches will it create any issues? is it a gud solution to this requirement?
2) Create a separate IP network on the ports connecting to both switches and set up routes to the networks.ex- console(config)#ip route 192.168.10.10 255.255.255.0 192.168.20.1.
I have repaired tcp/ip stack and winsock by command prompt. When I check my ipconfig /all there are alot of things not enabled and default gateway with no address etc... I checked my advanced setting and dhcp auto obtain is enabled. When I try to release and renew ipconfig the addresses are missing and when I renew, it's completely missing.

I have two C2960 switches which have the management VLAN for other switches. These two switches are connected with each other via portchannel. Now the mgmt0 of few switches is connected to switch 1 and few other connect to switch 2.I have also connected the mgmt0 of switch 1 to an access port of switch 2 and vice versa.However in this set-up I am unable to reach switch1 via the mgmt0 IP address. However I can reach the mgmt0 Ip address of switch 2.I can also reach switch 1 and 2 via their int vlan IP.Has some one else experienced this and is their any specific reason why mgmt 0 IP address of switch 1 is not reachable.I have tried doing similar set-up on C3750, but have acheived same result i.e. I am unable to reach mgmt0 of switch 1.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have seen a similar post here from last year about a 10/half connection, but this is different. I have a provider using a 2950 switch (they left CDP on so we can see it). And we have to be set to 10/full to make this connection (as you know 10/half connected here would be or is horrible). I have had this connection running on my 2921 router w/o issue but when I connect it to my 3560X, then I get no link light (shows down/down, not connected).
What else to know about what has been tried: Connecting link to switch with switch set to auto/auto (sp/dup). Speed is 10 (as it should be) but of course w/o the other side pulsing the voltage to know what to auto to, it defaults to half so this is unacceptabel, but, I do get a link light and can pass traffic, it's just a horrible experience.
Also tried the same setting speed and duplex vs. auto disco speed and duplex on other ports of the switch, no difference, same results. Also different patch cables, same results.
My current work around is to connect the providers 2950 (10/full) to my 2921 router @ (10/full) with a BVI to another port on the router which continues on to my 3560X at 1G/full. And this works just fine. Here's more info from my 3560X and the providers 2950:
