Jan 15, 2012I have two switches that always are with yours CPU in 39 or 40 %. the switches are:
IOS (tm) C3500XL Software (C3500XL-C3H2S-M), Version 12.0(5)WC3b, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
I think it's very strange the CPU always in 39 or 40 %. neither all ports of the switches are busy there are 6 ports free in each switch. 40 % I think it is a high value for CPU maybe because my IOS version 12.0 ?

Nov 15, 2012I am confused about some things regarding the different IOS versions and their compatibility with certain switch hardware. I understand the differences between the IPBASE and IPSERVICES ios but am not quite clear as to how you can tell which ios images will work on which Cisco switch model platforms, other than the fact that some switches are designed only to run the IPBASE images and others have advanced hardware to run the advanced images. For instance, if I have a 3750-24TS-E with an IPBASE ios on it, can I load an IPSERVICES ios that came from say a 3750G-24TS-E1U? whether the ios on one platform can be transferred to another?

My problem is that after some days (e.g. 15-20 days), the routing table suddenly stops updating & then I have to enter the default route again to make it up. I am using Track 1 to track default route here. After primary link goes down, the Track is also going down but after coming the primary link up, the track is not coming up. So, I have to add the default route again to make it up.

They seems to be coming on regular basis, repeating every minute. I've tried Google and the most relevant info I can find is this {URL}. But it says "Upgrade software to IOS version 12.2(52)SG or later OR 12.2(50)SG4 or later. ". I'm already running 12.2(54), so why does this 3 line repeatedly show up in the log every minute.

I have searched for this error and beside a third-party module (this is a Cisco SFP) the reason could be that newer IOS version is required. Before I'll request an IOS update to the stack with our internal team, IOS version required for this module to run properly and maybe a link to an overview to lookup such requirements in the future.

Jan 14, 2013I have a customer with a stack of two switches C2960S-24TS-L that are running 12.2(58)SE2 universal K9, we see that the CPU load increase over time, to 95% and stays there reload solves the problem.the process that akes a lot of CPU is also the SNMP ENGINE, I see that it is running 30 minutes on 95% and then 10 minutes on 35%, this is the only stack were we see this problem. Is there also a SNMP bug in this version ?

Now I'm have IOS ver. 12.2(55)SE but from time to time I'm experiencing strange system freezing. It means that all systems connected to the stack are working very, very slow. It hapens ones, sometimes twice a month and takes 5 minutes. I didn't find anything strange in logs (neither on switch nor router). I would like to install other IOS version. Could you recomend me the most stable version for this stack (built from these different models) ?And the secound question: - Is it possible to copy SE1 manualy to every switch and reload one by one manualy. Will they join the stack and work fine after reload or maybe there will be a IOS mismatch ?

Jun 3, 2012I have several older 2950's running on my network. This one in particular became of interest to me because I couldn't set up SSH on it or enable any QoS features on it, so I did some research. What I found was there are basically 2 versions of the IOS, c2950-i6q4l2 or c2950-i6k2l2q4. I also read that the c2950-i6q4l2 IOS versions (like the one in the switch I am referring to) have both the SI and EI feature sets integrated, but the one that gets enabled is entirely dependent upon the switch model you are running it on. Did I understand this correctly? Does the IOS check the hardware on the switch and then decide with feature set to use? If so, what is prohibiting the EI feature set from being enabled on this switch? Is there a way to force the EI feature set to be enabled since it is integrated in this image?

Feb 18, 2013I'm able to upgrade the master of a 3750 stack, but the member fails to upgrade. [code] I couldn't do rmdir flash:update unless I reload chassis... but even after reloading still cannot make the 2nd member to load with the newer IOS.

The best solution for me would be if all the switches could be reloaded at the same time to shorten the maintenance-windows. So my question is: If I run the upgrade (archive down load -sw) before the maintenance-windows WITHOUT the reload-option, will then the switches continue to run without interruptions with the current IOS- version and config until I run reload manually?
