Cisco Switching/Routing :: Internet Connection With Router 877?

Jan 29, 2012

We have a new internet connection from DSL cisco router 800 Series (877).

You has been delivered it to us with Cisco Router 800 series (Ver 877), when we connect it to the PC directly it’ll work fine with the static IP.

We configured the OSPF between the Switch and the Router. and we can reach to the DSL router IP from our LAN any where. but we can't exit from the router to the internet.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: RV180W Not Allowing Internet Connection?

Mar 4, 2013

I recently saw it for a good price online, and required a new router (had a netgear that died, and my backup was a really buggy Belkin which I'm currently using).I'm having an issue with the internet, in that when I connect my ADSL modem to the WAN port it seems to work fine, however the PC can't connect to the internet. When I go into the settings it says that the WAN connection is OK and even shows my external IP. I have it set via the stardard DHCP setup.Should I have done anything specific to my ADSL modem before plugging it into the RV180W? The Modem (D-Link 320B) also has a DHCP server on it, however I assume that this causes no issues when connected to the RV180W.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Internet Connection With Linksys SRW2048 Switch?

Jan 2, 2013

I have a problem with my switch. The model no. of the switch is as follows:

Linksys SRW2048 10/100/1000 48 Ports
Serial No: RJT00GC00395 GGR2906 MM

1. I am creating a home computer lab. I do have 3 servers HP ProLiant DL 385 G1. Two of them have 6 gigabit ports where as the third server has 2 gigabit ports.

2. Installed ESXi 5.1 on two servers where as installed FreeNAS on the third server and configured it as iSCSI storage and NFS storage.

Problem:

1. Every port works perfectly fine. However, when I keep connecting the ports of the switch to the ports of servers, internet gets disconnected.

2. Interestingly, my wireless internet also gets disconnected, the ports of the switch does not have any internet now.

3. This happens till I connect above 8-9 ports of the switch  to the servers.

3. However, when I remove the connection between the switch and the servers, internet comes, wireless internet starts working; and the port of the switch also gets internet connection when I check the internet connection of the individual ports one at a time.

Some more information:i do have internet service provided by Time Warner Cable. My internet speed is as follows:

Download Speed: Up to 15 Mbps
Upload Speed: Up to 1 Mbps

I do have a modem *** router by Motorola which has 4 gigabit ports.Model no: Motorola SURFboard SBG6580 i am assuming it is some thing related to bandwidth of the internet.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Configure 881 To Split Incoming Internet Connection Between Two ASAs?

Jan 15, 2013

is it possible to configure a Cisco 881 router to split the incoming internet connection between two ASA's? If one ASA fails then the router would switch traffic over to the second ASA. The 2nd ASA would takeover from the primary ASA through the active/standby failover configuration and crossover cable. I'm trying to avoid configuring the switch to control the traffic using VLANS if possible.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Shape 3560 For 10Meg Metro-E Internet Connection

Nov 12, 2012

I have been reading for awhile now on all the Cisco forums on the 3560 and shaping egress traffic but I wanted to verify my thoughts on this.  I have 3560 that connects to the ISP that is policing at 10Megs, I want to shape my egress traffic going to the ISP, I do not want to provided QOS to any specific traffic type but only shape all traffic outbound.  Will my config below shape "all" egress traffic going to the ISP on the 3560, on a port that is physically connect at 100Meg Full duplex?

int gi0/1
srr-queue bandwidth shape 40 40 40 40

I gathered these numbers using the formula of 100* 1/weight, which would equal 2.5 and if each queue has 2.5 meg that would = 10Meg.  However another concern is that I don't think I have the full 100Meg on the interface to use (correct?)

Cisco Switching/Routing :: C800 - Connection Using DSL To Router / Hub?

Apr 23, 2012

I am trying to connect a cisco 800 series router using adsl to a bt router/hub. This didn't work at all - so the cisco router is now connected to the bt router using a switch and the adsl cable. When I connect my pc to the cisco router, it doesn't go on the subnet it's supposed to be on. it's set to the gateway on the cisco router and the pc is set to 192.168.3.252. The bt router is on 192.168.1.x. When I connect a pc to the cisco router, and assign an ip address e.g. 192.168.3.123 it doesn't have any internet connectivity, but when I set it to get the ip automatically, it gets the ip address.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Catalyst 3650g And 2600 Router Connection

Jun 27, 2012

I recently lost my configuration when attempting to reset the password for our Cisco 3560g switch, the switch connects to a Cisco 4506 switch via fiber back to our main office.

I have the switch temporarily routing all traffic to our 4506 by using the default route of 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.10.254 but the same switch is connected to a cisco 2600 router that is on a 10.10.20.0 network and the 3560g is on a 10.0.0.0 network.

Host computers sit on the 10.0.0.0 network, but they need to go to the 10.10.10.0 network for internet, domain, etc the same computers need to go to the 10.10.10.20 for remote connections and other services.

The address of the 3560g is: 10.0.0.254
The address of the 2600 is 10.10.20.2

When the default route is set to 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.10.254 (4560 switch) domain browsing works perfectly
When the default route is set to 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.20.2 (3560G) switch I can ping any ip address in that range and the address on the other
interface ip adresses on the 2600 (eg. 10.10.30.1 / eth2, 10.10.40.1/ eth3 etc.)

I have tried to weight the routes after adding them both to the configuration, but that doesn't seem to work at all.

The switch connects back to the office via vlan1 (10.10.10.253)
The 2600 is connected to port 1, which belongs to Vlan2 (10.10.20.1)
And client computers sit on ports 2-12 belonging to Vlan10 (10.0.0.240)

So in a nut shell, how would I go about setting it up so the machines on 10.0.0.0 can connect to 10.10.20.0 and 10.10.10.0 and vice versa at the same time? Everything was working fine until I rebooted the switch (3560g), which makes me think the person that configured this before me didn't save the running config to the start up config.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Internet Access To Users Using 871 Router

Jan 21, 2013

I'm currently undergoing CCNa academy so I got a "job" from  my boss to configure Cisco 871 router.  Unfortunately we just finished  first semester at academy so there are some things that I'm still having  hard time to understand. I managed to configure router so it connect to internet or to be  exact it has internet access through  another adsl modem that is in  bridge mode. url...The problem is that users are not able to use internet when connected  to this router.  I'm able to access router through telnet  ( ip  192.168.13.10)  but that's it.192.168.13.0 255.255.255.128 is network that we use at work.   192.168.13.5 is IP address that is assigned to zyxel adsl modem ( If I'm  correct, we could have used any address here since we are connecting  this directly to router ? ) Zyxel adsl modem  is connected to FA4 port on Cisco router.   LAN  cable is connected to FA0 port and from there it goes to switch ( it's  some  asus switch with 50 ports). [code]

If I ping google dns from router e.g. ping 8.8.8.8 it works.  If I ping url... it doesn't work. Also I'm able to access router via 192.168.13.10 but if I use router as  default gateway then I'm not able to access the internet.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 861 Router - Slow Internet Performance

Jul 21, 2012

I have a new 861 router which I have connected to my home broadband cable modem. Got it all working okay and I have access to the Internet but its not as fast as it is if I connect my laptop to the modem.

My Internet is 60mb (was 100 but I downgraded). When I cannot my laptop directly to the cable modem, I get 60mb download speed on speedtest.net If I connect the router's WAN port back to the modem then I roughly get about 40mb, sometimes even 50.

I do not have any IOS firewall configured on the router, just basic ACLs to stop SSH and TELNET from public networks. If I do enable firewall then my Internet connection halves itself. I have read around that this is the case with ios firewalls on these small routers so I've disabled the firewall but I still don't know why I cannot get full Internet speed.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Checking Internet Speed Directly In The 1841 Router?

Nov 2, 2011

I want to know is it possible to check Internet speed directly in the cisco router thru any command or activating any service in the cisco router?.As it is seen most of the times internet speed offer by ISP is different as compared to clients.and Clients most oftenly not satisfied with internet speed The problem is that our ISP has given us 100MB leaased line. But when we deployed in production network the speed is same as DSL.We have reported this issue to ISP they then carried out Iperf test by connecting laptop directly with the ISP router. They have tested the speed and it shows  about 94-96 Mbps and argu that it is up to the mark and there is problem at your side(i.e our internal network). Now our internal network has cisco 1841 router connected directly to ISP 3825 cisco router. Our router has minimum configuration as required to pass traffic out and in.Our internal 1841 router is connected to switch to which different clients are connected. We have performed some online tests using different speed checking websites and also perform real time tests by uploading and downloading files. The speed is much low as compared to 100Mbps and it is nearly or slightly higher then as DSL connection. how can we check internet speed in the specified scenario? Is there any command or service available in cisco router to check internet speed as we want to check ISP connection speed directly thru 1841 router?what about authenticity of online speed checking websites?Any specialize software/tool you recommend to check Internet speed in specified scenario?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Using 2611 Router To Connect To Internet Via Cable Modem

Sep 8, 2012

I am with Virgin media and have a home lab (2611 routers, 3550 switches, 2950s etc) which i usually just use for testing things on and practicing.

Now I tried to connect it to the internet and got some weird things happening.

I got NAT and DHCP client all setup correctly on the router (or so  I think!) along with DNS settings but I still can't get Internet access.

My network is all setup right so that through using OSPF the router is the gateway (0.0.0.0 route) for all devices. Doing a traceroute confirms this.

Yet I never get any further than the router?  I see IP nat translations ticking up as I send more requests but never get a webpage or a reply from any of the machines in my network.

HOWEVER... The router itself does get some replies from Google.co.uk and bbc.co.uk but doesn't seem to want to give anything else on the "inside" a response?

Here is a dump of config:

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Internet Dropping With 861 Router And DPC3010 Cable Modem

Oct 1, 2012

I am having an issue with my network that has me perplexed. I have a DPC3010 cable modem (Charter internet). I previously had it connected to a Linksys WRT54GL with DD-WRT installed and that was working OK except that I had to reboot it 2-3 times per week. I replaced it with a Cisco 861 (non-wireless) router and it worked OK for a few hours then it started dropping the internet connection (it goes up and down constantly). If I switch back to the Linksys everything works fine again. I am using the same cables in either case so I know it's not a cabling issue. I upgraded the firmware to c860-universalk9-mz.151-4.M3.bin, but it made no difference. I was starting to suspect a problem with the physical ports on the router, but I decided to try connecting the 861 behind the Linksys and turns out it works fine in that setup.

So to recap...
If I connect the 861 directly to the modem my internet connection bounces up and down
If I connect the Linksys directly to the modem my internet connection is fine
If I connect the Linksys directly to the modem and the 861 to the Linksys everything works fine (my PC is connected to the fe0 port of the 861)

Are the 861 and the modem simply incompatible or is it a configuration issue? I have attached my 861 config to this thread.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Nexus 5000 LAN Routing Connection Deployment

May 16, 2013

We have our Nexus as our default gateway (101.1) and the default VLAN1 is setup with two subnets 101.X and 102.X. The DHCP server is using a superscope setup to accomodate the overflow of devices requesting IPs on 101, so when 101 is consumed persons are able to obtain a 102.X IP address. The setup is basic on superscope. The issue is some times the routing to the firewall with a 102.X is not always 100%. Somedays all goes well and the 102 subnet is routed out to the firewall and its a good day. However, such as today a 102.X address is not routing as it did 24 hours ago. I am perplexed as to why this is behaving unpredicatable. Here is running-config for VLAN1 to show the 102 as secondary address to VLAN1.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Internet Traffic Not Routing Through VPN 891w?

Feb 21, 2013

I have an 891w as my edge device for my home office. I have a VLAN for family use (wired and wireless) that routes out to the internet just fine. I have a second VLAN assigned to a VPN tunnel that backhauls traffic to my corporate network (wired and wireless) and all of the traffic gets to the corporate network fine when I am on that VLAN.

However, while I am on the VPN VLAN, no traffic gets to the internet. I believe it is because I have the gateway of last resort (0.0.0.0) set to the WAN IP address provided by my ISP, so DNS is resolving against corporate, but because there is no specific route, it is trying to dump the traffic back out the WAN without traversing the VPN tunnel.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2970 / Routing To Internet Through Different VLan?

Apr 2, 2012

We have 2 internet connections- one for production and one as a backup.  The backup connection will be used for allowing guest visitors on a wireless network that is on a seperate VLAN.

We have the following networks:

VLAN 1 production, 192.168.1.0
VLAN 10 backup internet connection, 192.168.100.0, Interface 100.2
VLAN 41 wireless guests, 192.168.41.0, interface 41.1

VLAN routing provided by Dell 6224 switch and other switching is Cisco 2970 (L2) switches.Backup Internet router is SMC (Comcast)

I would like to allow clients on VLAN 41 access the internet connection in VLAN 10 at 192.168.100.1.  Clients on VLAN 41 can PING and trace to the default gateway 100.1.  VLAN 41 clients are also able to get DHCP info from VLAN 1.  NSlookup fails when using the ISP DNS servers.  NSlookup is suscessful when using our internal DNS servers, but web pages are not returned.  It eventually fails. We've tried to set the DFGW on the clients to both 41.1 and 100.1 with no success.

100.2 know where to find 41.1 interface for the 41.0 network. The router/gateway can PING the clients on VLAN 41, 192.168.41.0 network and visa-vera.

It seems like the clients are not able to get through 100.1 to the internet or the gateway/router doesn't know how to get packets back to the clients.A static entry was made on the router that mapped back to the next hop at 100.2.  1 Someone alluded to a NAT issue, where the returning packets have information for the 100.0 network only and the internet router doesn't know to send the packets through to the 41.1 interface to the clients.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 881 - How To Get Stable Connection

I am having some difficulties to have a stable connection on a Cisco 881. I have a IP Sla running with an ICMP-ECHO towards the uplink router. Linked with this is a tracking on the IP SLA so I can shutdown an HRSP instance with the tracking. The desired result is with this that when the nexthop becomes unavailable HSRP switches to the second router with the backup connection.

Regardless whatever timeout or threshold, the tracking switches at a random point when the line is somewhat congested. Debugging it shows me only a time-out on the IP SLA.

Is there anything possible to get the icmp-echo to retry it 2-3 times or so before going it's status is set to failure? [code]
