Cisco Switching/Routing :: Internet Connection With Linksys SRW2048 Switch?
Jan 2, 2013
I have a problem with my switch. The model no. of the switch is as follows:
Linksys SRW2048 10/100/1000 48 Ports
Serial No: RJT00GC00395 GGR2906 MM
1. I am creating a home computer lab. I do have 3 servers HP ProLiant DL 385 G1. Two of them have 6 gigabit ports where as the third server has 2 gigabit ports.
2. Installed ESXi 5.1 on two servers where as installed FreeNAS on the third server and configured it as iSCSI storage and NFS storage.
Problem:
1. Every port works perfectly fine. However, when I keep connecting the ports of the switch to the ports of servers, internet gets disconnected.
2. Interestingly, my wireless internet also gets disconnected, the ports of the switch does not have any internet now.
3. This happens till I connect above 8-9 ports of the switch to the servers.
3. However, when I remove the connection between the switch and the servers, internet comes, wireless internet starts working; and the port of the switch also gets internet connection when I check the internet connection of the individual ports one at a time.
Some more information:i do have internet service provided by Time Warner Cable. My internet speed is as follows:
Download Speed: Up to 15 Mbps
Upload Speed: Up to 1 Mbps
I do have a modem *** router by Motorola which has 4 gigabit ports.Model no: Motorola SURFboard SBG6580 i am assuming it is some thing related to bandwidth of the internet.
So I have read about proper procedure involving the connection between a console cable and Hyper-terminal. I have also tried plugging into a network port to obtain an IP Address but nothing seems to work. When powering on the switch I see that it lights up, hear fans spin and assume it has booted properly. I'm using Hyperterminal on Windows Xp Pro SP3 and I've also tried minicom in Fedora.
And just FYI Hyperterminal was set to the proper:
Bits per second: 38400 Data bits: 8 Parity: None Stop Bits: 1 Flow Control: None
we using Linksys router for Internet for different vlans now we take 3750 as core switch for another different vlans 10,20 we create v Lans 20,20 also create cpd servers and we need Internet for vlans 10,20 through linksys router how should we configure?
I want to connect two linksys SRW2048 through fiber optic.. it's located different rooms with fiber optic....Is it possible through VALN....This setup using for CCTV connectivity?
I have a Win 2003 server set up as my DHCP server. It is connected to port 13 of my SRW2048 switch.
Every port from 1-12 and from 25-36 get a "Limited or No Connectivity" error when I plug an ethernet cable in them from a computer (Win XP). However, all of the other ports receive an IP address and connect to our network just fine. I've noticed that they are all in the two right hand banks of ports, though, so I'm in need of assistance as to how I can get the first two banks of ports to behave the same way. In other words, I want all of the ports on the switch to be able to populate an IP address from the DHCP server attached to port 13.
i'm already has one internet connection is conecting directily to the Core Switch 6509, and the Switch is route any internet request with default route:
SW6509-conf)# ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.170.10.10
10.170.10.10 is --> Next hop for the DSL router internal IP, and it's working fine.
We have a new internet connection with another ISP/ with another DSL router, how to connect both of them to exit from the Core Switch 6509.
is it ok if i make another default route to the Next hop to the new DSL router as:
SW6509-conf)# ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.80.10.10
10.80.10.10 is --> Next hop for the new DSL router internal IP.
It baffles me because the admin console doesn't look like it will browse your computer for a firmware update. Rather, it prefers you to specify a tftp or http server. I don't know how I'd set up my computer to be the http or tftp server and it doesn't really go into detail on what configurations or commands that would need to be used. I've used a tftp client in the past to send a firmware to routers and whatnot but not serve one.
i have an OM1 MMF fiber run between two switches, the first being a 3750 and the second being a 3550.
The link currently exceeds the maximum distance for OM1 @ 1000Mb/s (220m) so i would like to downgrade the link to 100FX using the necessary SFP's/GBIC's to extend the maximum distance to 550m and run the link @ 100Mb/s.
I have the part code for the 100FX SFP to install in the 3750 (GLC-GE-100FX) but cant find a 100FX GBIC for the 3550, can I use a 1000SX GBIC (WS-G5484) for the 3550 at one end and the 100FX SFP at the other? Any success with this configuration over MMF?
I have a big doubt. Can I connect a LAN switch (i.e. 2960, 3560 or 3750) to a couple of Nexus 2000 FEX (i.e 2232P or 2248TP) and have a Port-Channel or vPC with STP active and several VLANs through this Port-Channel? Or Can I only connect servers to these N2K FEX?
We are having problems with a two router 3945 in HSRP and a switch 2960.The two routers are connected to the switch 2960 through differentes ports. The problem is that we loose connection between the router and the switch. When we excute the command: show cdp neighbor at router, it shows nothing. If we try to make ping to the 2960 switch it is no reachable. If we make ping to the other router 3945 it is not reachable. All other function of the router are o.k.We are attaching the IOS of the routers and switch 2960 and a document in which make reference to a BUG in which mention about arp overwrite due arp attack which produce DoS.
My cisco 3550 EMI switch is not responding to power connection. I have checked and changed power cable. its still not working.fan is not running and no lights on front panel
I'm trying to get an IP_ADDR set on the management port in SWITCH: mode but for some reason the port seems disabled. PC shows connection unplugged. MGMT_INIT is not a valid command (not listed under '?' ). Bootloader version is 12.2(53R)SE2 FC1.
Having an issue with two Cat 2940, they have fiber 100Base-TX. Added a new Cat switch (the second on the VLAN), the existing Cat switch drops the fiber connection.
I have an issue with a Cisco 4900M switch with a WS-X4908-10G-RJ45 half card. The link connection between a 10Gbase-T server nic and the switch does not establish, i believe it is an auto negotiation problem. The link fluctuates constantly between connected and disconnected when set to auto negotiate. When the 10G half card port groups are configured for 1G connections it does the same. If i hard code the server nic to 1G the link remains up when the port group is at 1G. If i hard code the server nic to 10G the link stay down, i don't think the port speed and duplex can be hard coded on the switch end. I have tried updating the drivers on the server as well as diagnostic tests on the nic, which passed. The 4900M IOS code is version 15.0.2-SG2. If i plug a laptop into the 1G configured port the switch and the laptop negotiate at 1G. Also, i believe, if the 10G server nic is plugged into another 1G only switch the link auto negotiates to 1G as normal. The server nic is an INTEL Server Adapter AT 10G, which became end of life in 2009. I believe the half card came out in 2010.
Hard wired network (15 workstations.) I had a dsl modem connected to my network switch and linksys wrt54gs router connected to that modem. All hard wired workstations had internet access AND there was a wireless internet connection. With any wifi device I could access the internet.I switched from dsl to comcast. All hard wired work stations still have internet. but when I plug my wireless router into the modem (comcast business IP gateway) there is no wireless internet connection. The hard wired workstations can still get online and there IS a wireless network, but it does not allow internet access (page cannot be found etc.)
Comcast says it absolutely should work. Linksys says it requires simple reconfig of router settings (reset router, clone mac address.) I have read knowledge base articles from linksys and followed each step. The lan ports of the modem are all working if I connect to them directly with a laptop and cable. I have reset router multiple times, cloned mac address, dhcp release/renew.
My physical connections are correct. In the router set up utility, I can see the mac adrdress and ip address but can't tell if the IP is from the modem or the router. Default gateway is always 192.168.1.1 in the router AND in any workstation ipconfig screen. Ip addresses are 192.168.1.xx in ipconfig at any workstation AND in the router set up status.
I cannot access internet via router even if plugged directly into it. It is as if the router is not getting the correct information from the modem. However, it worked perfectly with the DSL modem the day before we changed. My workstations are all hard wired and work. I simply want to have Wi-Fi also... for phones and laptops w wireless etc.
I am trying to track down the SNMP MIBs for the Linksys by Cisco SRW2048. Please note that this is the model before the complete CISCO rebrand of the product. I have SNMP walked, browsed etc etc and I just can't pull CPU and RAM usage. Any working view of those two stats? I'm using OpManager by ManageEngine as my NPM platform.
I have lost the original console cable to the Cisco Linksys SRW2048 and was wondering if I can use the Cisco console cable or can a regular serial cable with female ends will work?
I am facing with Cisco 3560CG Switch. We have a Cisco WS-C3560CG-8PC-S (Cisco Catalyst 3560-C Switch, 8 GE PoE, 2 dual-purpose uplinks, IP Base image) switch which will be a core switch and the internet link from the ISP is terminated on a Modem. The ISP configured the internet modem and provided the details such as Gateway IP, Subnet Mask, DNS IP address, Usable IP Address Block, to configure the switch, where ew have connacted the Modem. When, I verified the details, there were only 4 IP addresses available under Usable IP address block. Spoke with the ISP and they confirmed that they cannot increase the IP Addresses (some limitation on the Modem) in the pool and we have to do NATing at the switching (Which we can't do, because of IP Base image limitation). About the network, it will be a flat network with only one VLAN which is used for Wireless Guest Access.
I have a small cisco switch cluster (seven different 2924, 3524cisco switches) with 3550 as a cluster control which does all the inter vlan routing that works fine.
This cluster is in semi production PBX interop testing lab. This is a closed network without internet access and not connected to our corporate network. However now I have to add this capability so some equipment in the lab can get Microsoft updates over the internet.
I've created a port on a 3550 (fa0/19) and connected it to another network that has internet access. It picked an ip address and when I'm logged in to the 3550 I can ping hosts on the outside network. However I can't ping any hosts on that network from any hosts that are connected to my vlans.I've tried a few different things, but still can't make it to work.
Here is a short version of my 3550 configuration:
! version 12.2 no service pad service timestamps debug uptime service timestamps log datetime no service password-encryption
I have router connected to 2 3550 switches directly. 3550A and B switches are running HSRP. OSPF is running between Router and 2 switches.
From Switch B i can ping the Router Wan interface but not the internet sites. from Switch A i can ping any sites?
Switch B 3550SMIB# sh ip routeCodes: C - connected, S - static, R - RIP, M - mobile, B - BGP D - EIGRP, EX - EIGRP external, O - OSPF, IA - OSPF inter area N1
My problem is that I have a Cisco 300 series small business switch with multiple VLANS each one with an IP address and two or three ports assigned to each VLAN. I have an E3200 wireless router that I want to use to use to share internet on the switch. All of the VLANs are reachable from the other VLANs and I've put a static route on the E3200 so that I can reach the VLANs from a machine connected only to the router. But I can't reach machines on the otherside of the router or get to the internet from the switch.
We have a new internet connection from DSL cisco router 800 Series (877).
You has been delivered it to us with Cisco Router 800 series (Ver 877), when we connect it to the PC directly it’ll work fine with the static IP.
We configured the OSPF between the Switch and the Router. and we can reach to the DSL router IP from our LAN any where. but we can't exit from the router to the internet.
DSL router 877 ---------------> Core Switch 6509 ----> PC
Router 877 (DSL): ----------------- version 12.4 no service pad service timestamps debug datetime msec service timestamps log datetime msec service password-encryption
I recently saw it for a good price online, and required a new router (had a netgear that died, and my backup was a really buggy Belkin which I'm currently using).I'm having an issue with the internet, in that when I connect my ADSL modem to the WAN port it seems to work fine, however the PC can't connect to the internet. When I go into the settings it says that the WAN connection is OK and even shows my external IP. I have it set via the stardard DHCP setup.Should I have done anything specific to my ADSL modem before plugging it into the RV180W? The Modem (D-Link 320B) also has a DHCP server on it, however I assume that this causes no issues when connected to the RV180W.
I need 10gigbit uplink for this switch. What are the other devices that i need order along with this device. And what is the diff between X2-10GB-LR= and CVR-X2-SFP.if i take CVR-X2-SFP, in future how can i upgrade from one gig to 10 gig?for current use i need 10gig support required. so what are all the other devices that i need to order.Fiber multimode and distance 15Mt only.
i have an issue to connect a trunk between cisco switch and extreme switch i have many vlans that i want to cross via a link between cisco 3750 switch and a Extreme Alpine 3800 switch
I tried to connect a 1841 to a Linksys with a static route. I am able to ping from a computer in the 1841 to a computer in the linksys network, but I can't ping from a computer in the Linksys network to a computer in the 1841 network?
I have two 3750-X configured to be a stack and I am planning to re-rack these somewhere else. What I would like to know is what are the effects of having the master switch itself lose power? Does it immediately just make the member take over master (there should be no election since there are only 2 switches??) and there would be no loss of connectivity?
is it possible to configure a Cisco 881 router to split the incoming internet connection between two ASA's? If one ASA fails then the router would switch traffic over to the second ASA. The 2nd ASA would takeover from the primary ASA through the active/standby failover configuration and crossover cable. I'm trying to avoid configuring the switch to control the traffic using VLANS if possible.
