I have lost the original console cable to the Cisco Linksys SRW2048 and was wondering if I can use the Cisco console cable or can a regular serial cable with female ends will work?
View 2 RepliesSo I have read about proper procedure involving the connection between a console cable and Hyper-terminal. I have also tried plugging into a network port to obtain an IP Address but nothing seems to work. When powering on the switch I see that it lights up, hear fans spin and assume it has booted properly. I'm using Hyperterminal on Windows Xp Pro SP3 and I've also tried minicom in Fedora.
And just FYI Hyperterminal was set to the proper:
Bits per second: 38400
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: None
What kind of cable is required to connect to the Console on a Linksys SRW2024 switch ? What I type on one computer appears on the other computer's screen.However, I can't get anything out of the switch. I've tried pressing Enter repeatedly, resetting the switch with the Console cable on, etc.

I have SNMP walked, browsed etc etc and I just can't pull CPU and RAM usage. Any working view of those two stats? I'm using OpManager by ManageEngine as my NPM platform.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't access the WEBGUI on any of them. they are very busy, the network is working fine, but I can't connect to the webgui on them. I've even had problems with a few connecting to them via HyprTerm. I bought 7 of the 12 just last May. If I'd known they were end of life I wouldnt have purchased these, although they are an awesome 48 gig switch for the price.
I need to be able to VLAN these. How can I get back in? Power cycle?
Trying to replace 3Com Superstack II Switches (3C16980) with 100Base-FX Modules (3C16970) with a Cisco solution. Existing Fiber connector in Network closet on both ends is an SC connector (picture attached). What Modules, adapter cables do I need to connect to an SRW2048 switch at one end an SRW2024 switch at the other? Will this solution provide a Gigabit connection over the Fiber ?
I am looking at using SRW2048-K9-NA with MGBSX1 module at one closet and SRW2024-K9-NA with MGBSX1 module in the other closet at the other end of the Fiber cable.

The SG300 firmware is much more usable. Also I'd rather have consistency as we have the older SRW2024/48 and the newer SG300 switches.
I have had the switch for about 2 years and recently moved. The manual specifies:
38400 bps and 8-n-1 serial port settings using DB9F to DB9F cable.
I have done this and tried using multiple machines/ports/cables as well as several peices of software (minicom, PuTTy, hyperterminal) and none give me any output from the switch at all.
The trouble is that in its original config, it had 1 port locked into its own VLAN for management with port security and an obscure RFC1918 IP address which I cannot recall for the life of me.
At this point, I have no access to TCP/IP management so serial console is my last hope and is not working.
I have been using a WAG320N since January. Around a week ago I came home to find the unit attempting to reconnect every few minutes - the DSL light flashing but nothing happening.
I replaced with an old Belkin unit which worked fine straight away.
i have upgraded the firmware, which made no difference, and secondly, tried a brand new unit, which strangly had the same problem even though the ancient belkin unit works first time and my original cisco unit worked for a couple of months before failing.
Are there any settings that relate to the DSL connection that may have been reset on the original unit? Could this be an issue related to signal quality or anything similar?
I lost the disc to my X2000 gateway. Is there a download site for the software?

3 Portable PC (2 with dhcp and N band, 1 with assigned ip with G band)
Router is not too far from wifi equipment
the wifi is protected with WPA-PSK
Often during day, on pc and iphone we have lost connection, we can see in settting the SSID of my wifi lan, but if we try to connect recive message:Unable to connect to casa(casa is my ssid), on router the wifi led is green fix (not blinking) and only after a few minutes or many try wifi return aviable (for all equipments at the same time and the wifi led blinking)If I want quick connection, without attempt, i simply power off router and after power on, the wifi connection begin aviable!
1. changed SSID, very different from other SSID of my neighbors;
2. changed class of ip address (from 192.168.x.x. to 10.16.x.x);
3. wifi with no protection;
4. tried with & without mac address filter;
5. tried with only 1 wifi connection.
I bought a WRT54GP2 independently of my ISP/VOIP provider so I could have an all-in-one router. As my provider would not provision the VOIP side I disabled provisioning and set up the voice settings myself and it works perfectly.I was reviewing the VOICE settings side and under the SYSTEM tab there were settings for Administrator Password and User Password. Researching on the Net it seems these should be set to strong passwords which I did but then found trouble moving from the main part of the router configuration to the VOICE tab as I would get a message about a non-admin account not being able to administer the voice side. Via clearing the cache on my browser and restarting the router/browser I managed to get back into the VOICE config tab and immediately removed those two passwords. Seeing the settings under the SYSTEM tab it looked to me that the router was open on the WAN side on port 1880 so I disabled the web server and web server admin options thinking these were only related to the WAN side not the LAN side.
I now find out that I can no longer access the VOICE tab as the router immediately disconnects from the browser.I've tried contacting my ISP/VOIP provider but they seem to be unable to assist and have had no luck with Linksys support either as all they want to do is pass it back to my ISP/VOIP provider saying they are the one to reconfigure it but I'm the person who did the config (and also shot myself in the foot incidentally). If I could only reset the voice side of the router back to factory defaults I would be fine but, unlike the WAG310G, there is no option to do this, just the option to reset the WAN/LAN/Wireless side to factory defaults. I've tried pressing the reset button for 30s and reset via the menu option but neither reset the voice side. Surely there must be some way to do this even if it involves opening the box up and connecting a jumper or something.
I would like to know if the Console cable that comes with a Cisco 877 wireless router will work on a PIX 501 firewall? If NOT then where can one buy a PIX 501 console cable?

Linksys SRW2048 10/100/1000 48 Ports
Serial No: RJT00GC00395 GGR2906 MM
1. I am creating a home computer lab. I do have 3 servers HP ProLiant DL 385 G1. Two of them have 6 gigabit ports where as the third server has 2 gigabit ports.
2. Installed ESXi 5.1 on two servers where as installed FreeNAS on the third server and configured it as iSCSI storage and NFS storage.
Problem:
1. Every port works perfectly fine. However, when I keep connecting the ports of the switch to the ports of servers, internet gets disconnected.
2. Interestingly, my wireless internet also gets disconnected, the ports of the switch does not have any internet now.
3. This happens till I connect above 8-9 ports of the switch to the servers.
3. However, when I remove the connection between the switch and the servers, internet comes, wireless internet starts working; and the port of the switch also gets internet connection when I check the internet connection of the individual ports one at a time.
Some more information:i do have internet service provided by Time Warner Cable. My internet speed is as follows:
Download Speed: Up to 15 Mbps
Upload Speed: Up to 1 Mbps
I do have a modem *** router by Motorola which has 4 gigabit ports.Model no: Motorola SURFboard SBG6580 i am assuming it is some thing related to bandwidth of the internet.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my vpn concentrator. I cannot access it through console, I have tried every baud rate that is available on my SecureCrt but it won't display anything. At first, I thought that my console cable is defective but I was able to access a WLC via console cable together with the rj45 to db9 converter. I also tried connecting the vpn concentrator to a switch and enable the cdp in the switch but the "show cdp neighbor" can't detect or display the vpn concentrator even if the interface status is "up up". Is it safe to say that the VPN concentrator is already broken?

However when I open my terminal application (tera term) After I select the right com port (3) and make sure the connection settings are right. It will just sit idle and not show any data from the device. Was I sold a faulty device? It lights up and has three lights on.
Everytime I look at a manual or cisco video I am given the impression the terminal application will just automatically connect. But whenever I try I get nothing.

This will be the firmware you have right out of the box. Be sure you go into the Admin. section and Save a Copy before you ever connect to the Internet. Also Uncheck the Auto Updates box or you will be fed the Cloud Connect (and its amazing Terms Of Service).
