View 3 RepliesI just upgraded to a E3000 from a WRT54G and I am having some issues with network speed.I have no special settings and have even tried restoring factory defaults and upgrading to the latest firmware to no avail.The time I notice the biggest hit is when transferring files locally on the network (WiFi and LAN).Let me note that I do know the difference between MB/s & Mb/s and the like.I have Comcast 20Mb/s Down, 1.5Mb/s Up (just a FYI, the main issue is local transfers)
With default settings my Laptop (ASUS N82JQ, Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter), connects to the router at only 65Mb/s (with full signal).Upload seems to be more decent ~600KB/s (Transferring files from wireless n laptop to the gigabit desktop).Download seems to be limited to ~150KB/s (Copying files from the wired gigabit desktop to the wireless n laptop).These speeds are horrible! ~5hrs to transfer 3GB of data!
One of my laptops had a card that was capable of both 2.4 & 5Ghz and I was previously getting ~2000-5000KB/s (2-5MB/s) transfers with this router (But I had to do a system restore on it and reset the router). My ASUS laptop seems to only work with 2.4Ghz though. If I change the 2.4Gh Wireless settings on the router to "Auto(20MHz or 40MHz)" the laptop will connect at 150Mb/s, but the speeds are the same slow speeds as above.
If someone has the original firmware for the EA3500 to copy. I need to downgrade my router after Cisco sabotaged it with their Cloud Connect. This will be the firmware you have right out of the box. Be sure you go into the Admin. section and Save a Copy before you ever connect to the Internet. Also Uncheck the Auto Updates box or you will be fed the Cloud Connect (and its amazing Terms Of Service).
View 6 Replies View RelatedIt appears that there is no firmware I can download for my WRT54GL Version 1.1. While it may never have been updated from what the router came with from the factory, it would still be useful to have it available. In my case, I would like to revert the router from the DD-WRT firmware to factory specs.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI purchased a WRT160N router last Friday. After setting it up, everything seemed to work fine, but after a couple of hours, the router stopped responding to any requests. The LEDs stayed on as if nothing had happened, but the router was dropping everything coming from both the WAN and a wired LAN interface. Since than, I had to restart it 3 times during the last 3 days.The firmware is 1.53.0, which seems to be the latest firmware for the European market - even when I try to get a newer firmware, this site only offers the US version 1.02.2.Should I update the firmware to the US version 1.02.2 ? Is there any difference between the 1.53.0 and the 1.02.2 version ? Is there a way to restore the original firmware in case the update fails ? I haven't found any link to 1.53.0 version..Also, does this firmware updating affect my warranty ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWill this router ever see a firmware update so that we can have some additional functionality? The version of Twonky Media server that was bundled with this router was old to begin with, and now we are stuck with it? I tried the E4200 but it just kept spinning my drive that's parked in a ThermalTake BlackX, at least the 3000 doesn't do that, but when can we expect some new firmware, it's been 8 months. I used to love Linksys, but with this kind of support I may have to move to a different brand, and I bet I am not alone. it doesn't break the E3000 like you broke the 4200.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop with an Intel Centrino 6300 Ultimate-N wireless card. With the previous firmware I was able to reach 300mbps while on the 5GHz band. Since I updated my E3000 to the latest firmware (1.0.04) I can only reach speeds of 144mbps. I have done a factory reset on the router and stll get the same result. Is there any way I can get it to reach 300mbps again with the current firmware?
Also, yes I have uninstalled / updated the driver software for my wireless card. I have also changed the appropriate settings for the 5GHz band. (40MHz channel width, using WPA2 encryption)

Went out of town 2 weeks in March, and all through April didn't have any disconnects. Have had this problem since I got it, it gets really bad from time to time (like now). Thought it was my provider for the longest time, but found out if I connect via wired, no disconnects! Is re-flash simply downloading and installing firmware?
Upgraded my E3000 from 1.0.02 to 1.0.04 and now I cant get an ip from my arris modem. I did the 30/30/30 reset and everything but no luck. I've had to plug the modem directly into the computer for now. Where can I find the 1.0.02 download or how can I fix this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedTried up dd-wrt firmware few days back, I do really like it, but I do noticed my DIR-615 E4 Ethernet doesn't like my motherboard bundled Gbps Ethernet with dd-wrt firmware, and it's really un-stable, the link always up and down (Windows always report Ethernet link-disconnected!). So, I tried so hard to get into emergency page with IE8, Firefox with no success, the only browser can get into it is Google Chrome, but file-upload with Chrome always stuck!!! anyway, I found the SOLUTION!
**make sure you have the original firmware from DLink before you started the following procedure**
1. create a html file (dlink-recovery.html) with those following code (I got it dumped from Chrome! I've added "http://192.168.0.1" to form action)
<html>
<HEAD>
<META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type>
</head><body><form action="http://192.168.0.1/cgi/index" enctype="multipart/form-data" method=post>
<center><p><font color=blue face=Courier New, Courier, mono size=3><b> <font color="#FFFFFF" face="Courier New, Courier, mono">--
<font color="#0000FF">D-LINK</font></font><font face="Courier New, Courier, mono">Firmware Upgrade System </font></b></font></p><p><font color=blue face=Courier New, Courier, mono size=3><b>
[code]...
2. change your PC network adapter configuration "Media Type" to 10mbps full duplex in network adapter configuration->advance settings (hope you know where!)
3. change your PC network IP to 192.168.0.* (any number except 1!)
4. unplug the power from DIR-615, then press-and-hold the reset button while plugging the power back to DIR-615, hold the reset button until the power led-flashing!
5. use firefox to open the dlink-recovery.html which created from step-1, browse the original-firmware and submit. if success upload, you'll able to see the 'flashing' page with percentage counting up.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt160n router set up at a friends house that i would connect my windows xp laptor to when i would go there. it always worked fine. i recently got a new laptop with vista 64 bit OS. i went to my friends today and connected via wireless for the first time. i expected to get prompted for the security key. instead it asked for the pin #. the pin number was something new i noticed when i replaced an older linksys with the new wrt160n so i had it in my notes. i entered the pin number and connected to the wireless router. but then my friend laptop could not connect and said it couldnt find the network. when i viewed the available networks, i noticed that the original network SSID had been changed to my vista laptop's computer name. i had to physically connect my laptop to the router and reconfigure the settings of the wireless network. then my friend was able to see the available network and automatically connect..

View 2 Replies View RelatedDue to password loss, I get to reset the E4200 to factory default in order for router re-config.After pressing the reset buttom for 10sec, the router reset. After then, I could not access the router via browser with 192.168.1.1 at URL entry. My PC IPv4 setup: 192.168.1.11; subnet=255.255.255.0.But, ping 192.168.1.1 from PC was OK without packet loss. View 6 Replies View RelatedWe've lost our WRT120N's administrator password and are trying to reset it to factory defaults.One peculiar thing that we have noticed is that the router has an IP of 192.168.106.1 rather than the default of 192.168.1.1 (this is verified by the default gateway, as well as a login prompt when 192.168.106.1 is put into a browser).Things we've tried to do to reset the router:
1) Press and hold the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds
2) Press and hold the reset button at the back of the router for 60 seconds
Interestingly, doing either of these things seemed to have no effect on the status lights.
Ok, so I reset the router but i still can't login to the setup using the factory password (admin/admin) (blank/admin) (admin/blank). Now I have an unencrypted network and no access to the setup... I even tried using the setup CD but it doesn't recognize the router.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy EA6500 has been working fine for the last few months but a few days ago i upgraded to the latest firmware 1.1.28.147876 - this was done by an ethernet cable, not by wifi. However i've noticed the router reverts back to the previous fw 1.1.28.146856 when the router is rebooted or factory reset. I've repeated the fw upgrade process and also done a hard reset before upgrading the firmware but no avail. Normally after firmware is 'upgraded' the router reboots and i get the message "firmware successfully installed" but then on subsequent reboots the firmware reverts back. I'm using local router access but even using smartwifi gives the same issue. When upgrading fw, i've tried both options online & manual but again makes no difference.
Don't really fancy calling Linksys support and going through 4 hrs of basic trouble shooting. Or perhaps Cisco have introduced a new automatic firmware downgrade option in their routers?
