Ok, so I reset the router but i still can't login to the setup using the factory password (admin/admin) (blank/admin) (admin/blank). Now I have an unencrypted network and no access to the setup... I even tried using the setup CD but it doesn't recognize the router.

My EA6500 has been working fine for the last few months but a few days ago i upgraded to the latest firmware 1.1.28.147876 - this was done by an ethernet cable, not by wifi. However i've noticed the router reverts back to the previous fw 1.1.28.146856 when the router is rebooted or factory reset. I've repeated the fw upgrade process and also done a hard reset before upgrading the firmware but no avail. Normally after firmware is 'upgraded' the router reboots and i get the message "firmware successfully installed" but then on subsequent reboots the firmware reverts back. I'm using local router access but even using smartwifi gives the same issue. When upgrading fw, i've tried both options online & manual but again makes no difference.
Don't really fancy calling Linksys support and going through 4 hrs of basic trouble shooting. Or perhaps Cisco have introduced a new automatic firmware downgrade option in their routers?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe've lost our WRT120N's administrator password and are trying to reset it to factory defaults.One peculiar thing that we have noticed is that the router has an IP of 192.168.106.1 rather than the default of 192.168.1.1 (this is verified by the default gateway, as well as a login prompt when 192.168.106.1 is put into a browser).Things we've tried to do to reset the router:
1) Press and hold the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds
2) Press and hold the reset button at the back of the router for 60 seconds
Interestingly, doing either of these things seemed to have no effect on the status lights.

I tried with another router dlink 614i and the same problem, after resetting it it's not accepting admin admin log/pass.

I have my network security set to WPA2 with an AES encryption, like people keep saying so I know that is not the problem. I'm having problems with the access restrictions feature on the WRT600N. I do have the latest firmware upgrade, which was released in 2008 I believe. Anyways whenever I totally block a PC from the internet either by MAC or by IP, it affects the internet on the rest of the house. Logins to sites do not work right. Logouts from do not work right. Different features of different sites will not work properly. There also will be a lag sometimes when entering the url for a new site. But as soon as I turn the access restriction off, everything goes immediately back to how it should be working.

I also have an iPad (3rd generation) that is connected to the router via a wireless connection. On my PC, I went to speedtest.net and determined that I am receiving like 20MB downloads via the wired connection. However, my iPad only gets approximately less than 2 MB download speeds. I have tried reseting the router and I do have what I believe to be the latest firmware update (Firmware Version: 1.01.36 build 4). I also receive the slow download speeds when I try connecting the other wireless devices. I assume my problem has to do with some sort of configuration setting found in the router configuration page (http://192.168.1.1/). The router is only a few feet away from my iPad so the signal strength is strong. I just don't understand why I'm receiving such slow wireless download speeds.

I assume from this the required bin has either been removed, renamed or overwritten.As soon as the router boots it requires a password and I dont have the password to be able ftp files in and out of it.
I have installed DD-WRT firmware onto my new D-Link DIR-615. It causes some problems and I'd like to re-flash router with orginal firmware. After turning router on with Emergency Room mode and choosing right (as for me) image file I'm getting "Unable to upload the image, please make sure the uploaded file is the correct image." I cannot upload files through http (e-mail attachments, send images to Facebook, send file to virustotal.com) with Linksys WRT600N router. When I remove connection cable from router and place directly in a computer, everything works just fine. I am using last firmware upgrade.

Finally gave up and put a new Engenius EVR100 behind the 7500 bridge and it came up fine in 10 mins. Now I would like to use my old WRT600N downstairs as a second router and run it in the range of the Engenius DHCP, with DHCP turned off in the WRT600N.
My question is this ... Do I set the WRT600N as a static IP address and use an address in the range issued by the EVR100?And, if so, what would the sub-net mask, default gateway and DNS numbers be? Also would the router address itself (lets say I use 192.168.0.120 from the EVR100 range) be different then the static IP address?

Couple months later my computer was saying I have "limited connectivity." All of the other computers have full access and works great. I tried going to my routers home page, but all I get is "The server at 192.168.0.1 is taking too long to respond." Ive tried renewing the ipconfig, restarting everything, new cables....everything I can imagine. I tried calling my ISP and they told me it wasnt there fault, that its pretty much on my end. Basically I have a Wireless N 150 Home Router (DIR-600 B2). I managed to reset and login to the router at http://192.168.0.1. I tried to made some configuration (disabling DHCP, some stuff, basically I was trying to configure this router as Wireless Repeater to connect to another room downstairs).
So it didn't connect so I do a reset (hold a pen for 20+ seconds at the reset button) and now I cant login to the router at http://192.168.0.1..
I have been using Linksys WAG200g as a modem&router at my home for few years already and it did a great job. Plugged it on 24hours non-stop. Default firmware.
However, in the past months WAG200g did the factory reset by itself. It happened once a month, 3 months in a row already. No body pressed the reset button nor use the web admin to reset it. It reset itself. All the SSID, IP Address, passwords, etc are reset to default.
If I use the reset on the back of the WCG200 and reset it to the original factory settings, does the firmware version revert to the original version?
