Windows Vista - Reset Router To Factory Settings Now Cannot Configure
Feb 6, 2012
I have windows vista, and forgot my network password. I reset my router to factory settings by pushing the reset button on the back.I tried reconfiguring the router from the network icon, but at the end of the process it says it cannot configure my router.I lost my internet service in the process
My computer is an XPS 360 with alot of upgrades. After looking at the specs of D-links routers I thought I give it a try. Hooked up, works like a dream. Couple months later my computer was saying I have "limited connectivity." All of the other computers have full access and works great. I tried going to my routers home page, but all I get is "The server at 192.168.0.1 is taking too long to respond." Ive tried renewing the ipconfig, restarting everything, new cables....everything I can imagine. I tried calling my ISP and they told me it wasnt there fault, that its pretty much on my end. I called Dell for support, said my warranty went out and they cant do a thing.
Iused my installation cd to re-setup my linksys. I moved and used a laptop previously. Now i am at a house that has a desktop. I want to keep the desktop wired and make my laptop wired. So, when i went to re-install it said i had to reset my linksys to factory settings.
I have a (Air Access) - ZG-5000-11g Wireless Outdoor Bridge , Ap Router, It has hanging problem, so I make it factory default. but now I have unable to configure it. find out default ip address.
I am locked out of my Arris wtm652 (unable to login with default password or the password that i set). I have tried every way I know of to reset the modem outer to its factory settings but to no avail. I know that it is not being reset because I still can not login to it and it is maintaining the wireless security settings that were set for it.
I was having some connectivity issues with my network of WAP54G's, so I had a technician come to have them looked at. The technician turned out to be completely clueless, and he messed up one of the APs in the process. He changed its IP address and apparently updated its firmware, but he didn't write the new address down, so now I can't access its administrator panel. I've tried to retrieve the IP address using the setup CD that came with the AP, but it doesn't even see the AP in my network. I've tried to factory reset the AP by holding the reset button for 10, 30 and 60 seconds and unplugging the power cord, but to no avail. It still doesn't bring up the admin panel when I enter the default IP in the browser. I think I've tried everything I could find on the Internet about this problem that didn't involve cracking the AP open, but none of it has worked.
I have completed my CCNA qualification and i am doing some volunteering for a none proffit eletronics recyciling company they receved some cisco pix 515e firewalls and i was aloud to keep one so i can learn how hardwaire firewalls work and how to set them up but i can not seem to connect to it is there a way to completely reset the device to factory settings without any ip address or passwords i do not have any cables for the device but i have made a straight and cross over cable and there is a box of cables at the recyciling company from diffrent places if i need a specialist cable i may be able to find one
Recently purchased a RVS4000 Router, which included v1.1.14 firmware. Is it necessary to reset the router to Factory Default settings, after upgrading to v1.2.11, as in most of the other previous upgrades?
A few hours ago, I just restored my laptop to factory settings. Once it was done, I tried connecting to the internet but the computer could not detect ANY wireless networks!I already know it is not the modem or router because I have a Macbook Pro and two HP laptops that connect perfectly fine to the modem. I also made sure the wireless is on. The laptop with the problem is a Toshiba Satellite l645. It's running on a 64-bit Windows 7. When I try to look up wireless networks, it only shows 'MOBILE BROADBAND CONNECTION".

So just recently my Internet has been running a lot slower than normal at different times of the day (completely random, could be fine for hours then just turns slow). I know it's not the Internet itself, since it's only happening on my computer, and none others in the house - and I'm far from capped. I've run AVG, Spybot & Malwarebytes' scans and have found no infections of any kind. I've run TCP Optimizer and used the "reset to windows default settings" feature, which also hasn't worked one bit. I've tried different Ethernet cables and different plugs in the modem and no improvement.
Got a Belkin wireless modem router some 18 monthes ago, and after a bit of a struggle managed to set it up. It worked fine, aside from the odd depower repower. For some reason, it just stopped working yesterday. I initially checked all my cabling etc and everything seems fine. I next tried resetting my modem/router to factory settings. When I tried to install the Belkin software I fell at the first hurdle with a message saying "The setup assistant is not able to connect to the router". After googling my issue, I followed others advice and running the cmd setting and typing in "ipconfig" only to find that my media state was disconnected.
We've recently changed data line providers and now have some Cisco 877 routers we'd like to reconfigure and use at other sites. Although we own these, they were configured by our old data line providers, I'm having a hard time of resetting them to factory defaults. The simple, hold down the reset button until it restarts does not work.If I press the reset button within 5 seconds of power up to load the default rom image, I get the below:
System Bootstrap, Version 12.3(8r)YI4, RELEASE SOFTWARE Technical Support: [URL] Copyright (c) 2006 by cisco Systems, Inc. C870 series (Board ID: 1-148) platform with 131072 Kbytes of main memory Booting flash:c870-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T.bin Error opening: flash:c870-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T.bin
[code]....
I assume from this the required bin has either been removed, renamed or overwritten. As soon as the router boots it requires a password and I dont have the password to be able ftp files in and out of it.
I have installed DD-WRT firmware onto my new D-Link DIR-615. It causes some problems and I'd like to re-flash router with orginal firmware. After turning router on with Emergency Room mode and choosing right (as for me) image file I'm getting "Unable to upload the image, please make sure the uploaded file is the correct image." Information.
Firmware downloaded from: [URL]
How can I fix my router? Which firmware file will be correct if not an original?
i have a wrt54gl version1.1 ok so let me start from the beginning.a few months ago i left the contry so a friend of mine asked me to lent him my router. a few day`s ago i got back and got my router back. it was working fine until i got it back. the rest button won`t work. i can`t reset the router to factory default. the user name was blank and the password was admin.now it won`t let my to do that.
Due to password loss, I get to reset the E4200 to factory default in order for router re-config.After pressing the reset buttom for 10sec, the router reset. After then, I could not access the router via browser with 192.168.1.1 at URL entry. My PC IPv4 setup: 192.168.1.11; subnet=255.255.255.0.But, ping 192.168.1.1 from PC was OK without packet loss. So router was restored with 192.168.1.1 and cable connection was OK.
We've lost our WRT120N's administrator password and are trying to reset it to factory defaults. One peculiar thing that we have noticed is that the router has an IP of 192.168.106.1 rather than the default of 192.168.1.1 (this is verified by the default gateway, as well as a login prompt when 192.168.106.1 is put into a browser).Things we've tried to do to reset the router:
1) Press and hold the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds
2) Press and hold the reset button at the back of the router for 60 seconds
Interestingly, doing either of these things seemed to have no effect on the status lights.
My router wasn't giving out proper ip addresses so I went through the steps to reset the router to factory defaults. After I tried to run the setup off of the cd which came with the router and the program is saying it can't find my router
Ok, so I reset the router but i still can't login to the setup using the factory password (admin/admin) (blank/admin) (admin/blank). Now I have an unencrypted network and no access to the setup... I even tried using the setup CD but it doesn't recognize the router.
My EA6500 has been working fine for the last few months but a few days ago i upgraded to the latest firmware 1.1.28.147876 - this was done by an ethernet cable, not by wifi. However i've noticed the router reverts back to the previous fw 1.1.28.146856 when the router is rebooted or factory reset. I've repeated the fw upgrade process and also done a hard reset before upgrading the firmware but no avail. Normally after firmware is 'upgraded' the router reboots and i get the message "firmware successfully installed" but then on subsequent reboots the firmware reverts back. I'm using local router access but even using smartwifi gives the same issue. When upgrading fw, i've tried both options online & manual but again makes no difference.
Don't really fancy calling Linksys support and going through 4 hrs of basic trouble shooting. Or perhaps Cisco have introduced a new automatic firmware downgrade option in their routers?
I flashed the firmware and the ipv6 automatic is on disabled and I cannot set it to enabled.the 6rd tunnel option I can change but that has not effect- in fact from what I looked up it seems to be something used by some cable providers.hate to have to reset the router to factory defaults and then reset the network up - just to see if i can get the option to set IPV6 auto to enabled.
I have rebooted my netgear router to the factory settings and now the internet wont work , i have no idea how to get it to work again. On the box all the right lights are green exept the internet light which is red.
I forgot the user for management a IPS SSM-10, when i follow the procedure to reset the password for cisco user, i can get into the module, i change the password and every thing is OK, but when i tried to configure y don´t have rights to do anything.
if i see the privileges for the user cisco this is the result. [code]
I've inherited a IAD2430 router but I don't have the ena passwords nor am I able to do a break and do a password recovery. I'm familiar with the password recovery process and config reg settings but this one has me stumped.
The config register is set to 0x2102 so I see nothing at all when it boots until it's completed and I get the prompt to "Press RETURN to get started!" I get to non priv mode but without the password obviously I'm going nowhere at that point. All the docs I've come across so far assume you can break out of the boot process or are already in rommon. When I remove the flash: I get no output at all... The IAD has no "reset" button like the CAT switches either.. I don't need the current config, just a reset/format of the NVRAM.
Had to so a install back to factory settings now I have no access to Internet, says network controller is missing, have tried downloading drivers but obviously not downloading the right one.
I am the owner of an Asus N53SV series laptop running windows 7 home premium. I factory reset my PC in order to have a "fresh" new year, but now I can only connect to the wireless internet in my house using the ethernet cable. When the cable is unplugged, no networks show up for my laptop. I tried going to this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download N53SV I downloaded the first wireless driver listed...and it gave me an error that just said "error azureware wireless lan driver"....not a very informative error.
I need to reset my DLink wireless modem all over again, can't get it to recognise the router, so thought that it would need to reset to factory defaut, how can I do this. Tried just hitting reset on the router, but nothing is happening.
I have been using Linksys WAG200g as a modem&router at my home for few years already and it did a great job. Plugged it on 24hours non-stop. Default firmware.
However, in the past months WAG200g did the factory reset by itself. It happened once a month, 3 months in a row already. No body pressed the reset button nor use the web admin to reset it. It reset itself. All the SSID, IP Address, passwords, etc are reset to default.
I have a DIR-655 (HW rev A2) that has worked mostly fine for a long time. Today I decided to do a firmware upgrade, and in preparation I backed up my custom config settings and did a hard reset via the factory reset button on the back of the unit.
Since then, the unit itself has been inaccessible from my computer. If I connect the DIR-655 and a PC with a network cable, the appropriate light goes on on the front of the router, but the client does not lease an IP address from the router and I can't access the router home page at 192.168.0.1.
I have tried the reset button again and also power-cycled multiple times, and I have tried connecting from multiple computers, all with the same unsuccessful results. how to "un-brick" the device?
I had DAP-1522 setup for more than two years and working fine. I changed the default IP address from 192.168.0.50 to 10.0.0.50. Recently I replaced my older router with a new one, and now I want to reconfigure the DAP-1522 with the new router, but unable to login. I tried to factory reset but it doesn't seem to work. When I hold the reset button for 10-20 secs, I see the blue power light blinking, but it continues to blink forever. I left it for 4-5 hours and no difference yet. how to successfully reset to factory defaults so that I can access it using 192.168.0.50 IP address?
