Recently purchased a RVS4000 Router, which included v1.1.14 firmware. Is it necessary to reset the router to Factory Default settings, after upgrading to v1.2.11, as in most of the other previous upgrades?
View 37 RepliesI have a WRV210-A V01 (Software: 2.0.1.5) router that when originally purchased I upgraded the firmware to the newest 2.0.1.5. However after the firmware upgrade the router has not worked right since. [I thought maybe the upgrade did not take, and successfully pushed the firmware 3x times]
Everytime you login to the webpage the right-side pane you have to scroll down 3x pages until you can see the settings options. It does that for everypage you visit you have to scroll down 3x pages until you can see the settings.
The wireless is sporadic and dropping connections, and now certain options like changing the "Basic Rate:" from "All' to "Default" does nothing and wont let you change it.
The main issue I have is that certain wireless settings like changing the "AP Isolation:" cause the router to reset back to factory defaults. and even trying to configure the LAN setup also randomly makes the router reset to factory default.
I had something strange happen to my WRVS440N router yesterday. Our network had crashed for some reason. So I attempted to log into the device to see what was wrong and I was surprised to discover that all of the settings including user name and password had reverted back to factory default.
1. What are all of the possible scenarios that would cause this to happen?
2.Would disconnecting power in the middle of a boot up sequence cause the router to revert to factory settings?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy computer is an XPS 360 with alot of upgrades. After looking at the specs of D-links routers I thought I give it a try. Hooked up, works like a dream. Couple months later my computer was saying I have "limited connectivity." All of the other computers have full access and works great. I tried going to my routers home page, but all I get is "The server at 192.168.0.1 is taking too long to respond." Ive tried renewing the ipconfig, restarting everything, new cables....everything I can imagine. I tried calling my ISP and they told me it wasnt there fault, that its pretty much on my end. I called Dell for support, said my warranty went out and they cant do a thing.

Since the verizon modem, which is also router has been set into bridge mode and the d-link came into play its been extremely slow, and dropping connection. The router is in a separate IP class, and has no conflict with the modem. My question is, if I upgrade this firmware from 1.0 to 1.02 will it default to factory settings? I know it says only some will. I do have the backup config file, but i would be doing this remotely, and would not be able to get to this router if it goes down. Has anyone gone from 1.0 to 1.2 and saw a difference and speed, and are you able to do this without losing settings.

The technician turned out to be completely clueless, and he messed up one of the APs in the process. He changed its IP address and apparently updated its firmware, but he didn't write the new address down, so now I can't access its administrator panel. I've tried to retrieve the IP address using the setup CD that came with the AP, but it doesn't even see the AP in my network. I've tried to factory reset the AP by holding the reset button for 10, 30 and 60 seconds and unplugging the power cord, but to no avail. It still doesn't bring up the admin panel when I enter the default IP in the browser. I think I've tried everything I could find on the Internet about this problem that didn't involve cracking the AP open, but none of it has worked.

After then, I could not access the router via browser with 192.168.1.1 at URL entry. My PC IPv4 setup: 192.168.1.11; subnet=255.255.255.0.But, ping 192.168.1.1 from PC was OK without packet loss. Its autonomous so there is no controller. I renamed the config.txt file I am unable to rename or delete the private-config file. I get the message that file or directory cannot be found when i try to rename and permission denied when I try to delete it.
When I ran a reset to factory settings of my acer aspire one netbooks which runs windows 7 I no longer have a wireless connection option at all. I have done this before and never lost my ability to connect wirelessly. I tried to look for driver downloads but I'm not even sure what it is I need to do to recover the missing program as it was a original factory program.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have an AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 deployed in a H-REAP setup.This AP already got the configuration from the WLC when it was deployed at a remote site.Now we moved it to another site, but it doesn't appear in the WCS and i don't see any CAPWAP debug messages on the WLC.The routing work fine between the AP and the WLC, the AP also gets an IP address from DHCP and also received Option 43 information.
Now my guess was that the AP doesn't associate with the WLC because it has the old config file and it runs in local mode(without trying to connect to the WLC).We want to reset to factory defaults because we want to delete the configuration and force the AP to get a new config from the WCS.I don't know the enable password so i had to use other methods for reseting to factory defaults.

I know it's not the Internet itself, since it's only happening on my computer, and none others in the house - and I'm far from capped. I've run AVG, Spybot & Malwarebytes' scans and have found no infections of any kind. I've run TCP Optimizer and used the "reset to windows default settings" feature, which also hasn't worked one bit. I've tried different Ethernet cables and different plugs in the modem and no improvement.
