Dec 15, 2009I have couple of Linksys SRW 224G4 and SRW 2024 connected together with Cisco C3650 switches. For my part of network VLAN100 is used as administrative vlan and VLAN1 as defult (on trunks or unused ports).Altrough most of switches work fine, on all older models of SRW224G4 (hw 1.0, various firmware versions) there is no connectivity to management utilities (also ping won't work) via trunk (where of course VLAN100 is present). At the same time there is no problem with access from "local" ports (assigned to VLAN100) and there are no problems with traffic on VLAN 100 along the network.
For example:Two computers (A and B), two switches (sw1 - old SRW224G4 and sw2 - Cisco switch), are connected as follow:
A--VLAN100--sw1--TRUNK--sw2--VLAN100--B
Swicthes have VLAN100 as management VLAN, computers are connected to access ports (untagged).A has access to management on sw1 and sw2 and connectivity with B?B has access to management on sw2 and connectivity with B but has no access to management on sw1...If sw1 and sw2 are same, old SRW224G4 - everything works fine.Newer versions of SRW224G4, SRW2024 and SLM2024 works OK.Why it doesn't work?

Jun 2, 2013I want to configure my SRW248G4 switch thru console port. Unfortunately in this switch there is no RJ45 console port input, I can only see cosole port that is look like RS232 input. I bought two standard cisco console cables that have one end with db9 and one with RJ45.
Now I have and idea to put one end of one cable (db9) to switch, and one end (db9) of second cable in my computer (COM input/output)
I need to connect two RJ45 together - this is not a problem, I know how to do this. Here is the question :I know how pinout in my computer look like but i can't find pinout of console port in my SRW248G4. There is many pictures in Internet, for many Cisco devices but this isn't working. Maybe in LINKSYS pinout look different ?

Jan 5, 2011I have had the switch for about 2 years and recently moved. The manual specifies:
38400 bps and 8-n-1 serial port settings using DB9F to DB9F cable.
I have done this and tried using multiple machines/ports/cables as well as several peices of software (minicom, PuTTy, hyperterminal) and none give me any output from the switch at all.
The trouble is that in its original config, it had 1 port locked into its own VLAN for management with port security and an obscure RFC1918 IP address which I cannot recall for the life of me.
At this point, I have no access to TCP/IP management so serial console is my last hope and is not working.

Jan 10, 2012My company just bought a SF300-24P, got it configured without much issue. Today I try to get into it and I can't. Tried via HTTP and console and nothing happens. Decided to try to reset it using the button on the front. Using the documentation, I held down the button for over 10 seconds. Didn't reset to factory defaults, tried again and rebooted it, still nothing. What I am I doing wrong. Also nothing comes up on console window and I'm using the setting for Hyper Terminal that the documentation says I should use.

How can I get back into the switch to manage it or reset it back to factory settings? I kept the default IP address and I enabled HTTPS to login by gui, well I got in by HTTPS so I went in to turn that setting off and hit apply and now I can't log into it at all.

Much to my dismay, I have been able to get http and https enabled, and then authenticating locally for the HTTP access. I then come to the screen once authenticated which is shown below:
The issue is that when I select "Web Console", it gives me a "Web Page Cannot be found".

Apr 15, 2011I went out and bought a linksys 5 port workgroup switch. I tried to hook my internet into it and my other computers into it , THINKING, I would be able to get internet on all. No go. I can get inter net on one, as you can tell. but all others nothing. and to make matters worse i got win 2000, win xp pro, and linux that I like to get online.. I have : renewed IP's assin Ip's refresh, purge dns. rebooted. all and rebooted in diferent orders. double checked connections, tested all lines. The network is on a rj45 ethernet .

This is the "story" :
I bought two switches as described above and actually I have to create 2 VLANS as described below :
VLAN id 2 name "Service_A" ports 1-4
VLAN id 3 name "Service_B" ports 7-9
all other ports can stay in default VLAN1.
my network infrastructure have some other very simple swtiches connected and 1 soho router (static ip 192.168.1.1) with dhcp active and ip pool address released from 192.168.1.100 to 200.
the SG200-26 have static ip 192.168.1.254 and 192.168.1.253
MY NEEDS:
I need VLAN for privacy matter so all computer connected to ports in VLAN2 cannot see nor enumerate PCs and resources on other VLANs, but I also absolutely NEED that all computer in every ports (and every VLAN even default VLAN1) can access the internet.

192.168.1.1 is a Linksys WRT610N acting as a router and DHCP server for addresses .100 to .150
192.168.1.2 is TEW-639 with DHCP turned off and connected to the Lynksys via one of the LAN ports.
I then have a FosCam camera with IP 192.168.1.010, connected either wirelessly or via a wire on a LAN port to the TEW-639W.
Here is my problem: If the FosCam is connected wirelessly to the TEW-639W I am unable to see it from any device connected to the Linksys. If I connect the FosCam via a wire to a LAN port on the TEW-639W then I can see it from a device connected to the Linksys device.If a device is connected to the network via the TEW-639, I can see the FosCam whether it is hardwired or wirelessly connected to the TEW-639. What am I doing wrong?Why can I not see the wireless connections on the TEW-639 from a Linksys connected device?,The setup is that the internet comes in and is connected to the Linksys, which then via LAN cable and LAN ports on both devices is connected to the TEW-639, which is then connected to the camera.

Dec 11, 2011I have 2 Catalyst 2924 switch in a home lab. Both of them have developed the same problem at the same time (strange). I have tried all that I can think of. I can telnet to them but cannot access via the console port. On a telnet session I execueted a "write erase, reload" on one of them. As I anticipated this threw me out of the telnet session and I presently have no access to that switch.
The console cable is fine, works for all other devices.

Feb 20, 2013I want to configure my switch via console cable, the switch boots up normally, and there are no configurations present on the switch. However, anything I type does not appear on the terminal client. I used several terminal clients (TeraTerm, PuTTY, HyperTerminal), all latest versions as well as different PCs. I even forced the switch to rommon mode, still, anything I type does not appear on the terminal client.

May 12, 2012I've been assinged a task to connect our branch office with the head office, so that the IP Phones in the branch office can be connected to Cisco Call Manager at head office. To accomplish this they have given a Cisco 877 Adsl router a 10 Port 3-COM POE Switch and 3 Cisco 7911 IP Phones. Currently the there are 7 PC's Connected to 3 COM Switch which indeed is connected to a Internet router(Speedtouch). First I thought of connectiong the IP Phones to the Ethernet Port on Cisco 877 router but had to change my mind as the ports are non POE ports and I do not have adapters for IP phones. So I've decided to connect the Phones to 3 COM Switch and create VLAN's (DATA & VOICE) and pass the DATA traffic through Speed Touch and Voice traffic through the Cisco 877 router, but when I tried accessing the 3-COM Switch via Console I am getting Junk language( See the attachment for reference).

As you can see, the default group configuration ACS5-1 for authenticatoin has applied to both defaults and console. But the command authorization does not appear to be applied to the console. As a result, when i login from the console and get authenticated, the command authorization does not trigger and i can run commands I'm not supposed to. In the configuration, I do not see "aaa authorization console" option unlike we have in IOS.

Jan 3, 2011We forgot the IP address of this WAP, and resetting the router doesn't take it to the default IP, no matter how I try to reset it. The SSID (and WEP key) stays the same too, which makes me wonder if the reset button is even working. We can still connect computers wirelessly through it and have them access the internet. Our issue is we need to change the SSID. Right now it just connects people invisibly - it gives them IPs from the subnet it's attached to, and yet the various DHCP servers I've connected to never show it as having its own DHCP address.

When i connect this Router through one of its Ethernet Port to one of the Network Point(which is DHCP enabled)is working fine. I get the IP 192.168.3.x from my existing DHCP not from the ADSL Router which is enabled.Secondly, Although i can Ping the Router IP 192.168.1.1 from Wifi client 192.168.3.X, But when i try to open the Router Console a Login window open and is says " your are trying to access the Router in an insecure ways and it doesnt not authenticate ID and PWD.When i directly connect Router to my Laptop then am able to do so.
