Apr 9, 2013a switch port is shutdown, but when i use NO SHUTDOWN command it is working and shows administratively down. like this command does not affect on it. i should enable this port? what can i do btw, port is not in errdisable and portfast is enabled.

Jun 3, 2013I have configured a SVI in my 4500 ( Sup 7-E 10GE,,,,,,and,,,,,cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.02.00.SG.150-2.SG.bin) switch and it is showing Down Down, because there were no active switch port in the vlan, I added one switch port to this vlan but this port also in the down state, so i added the SWITCH PORT AUTO STATE EXCLUDE command under this port, even after this also the SVI never came up, So i added one systen to the port so both the switch port and the SVI came up...So why SWITCH PORT AUTO STATE EXCLUDE command have no effect in this model of the switch..

Dec 8, 2011The last few days I've been exploring options in getting rid of some old routers accross a wan connections. I have a cat 3560 to play with and I thought I would try and use the no switchport command test out routing with switch. I've got some type of route issue and I tried a few things which I thought would fix the issue but had no effect. I'll post the config and a few commands so you can see what the basic setup is.
Here we can see in the arp that it knows about both 10.7.1.2 (PC unable to ping 10.3.3.254) as well as 10.3.3.254 (ASA).I tried adding in a ip route of 10.7.0.0 255.255.0.0 10.3.3.110 as well as 10.3.3.254. Neither produced the results I wanted allowing 10.7.1.2 (PC) to ping the ASA (10.3.3.254). [code]

I can configure route-map commands on that. but i can not apply that into any vlan interface. while i try to apply the following command ( ip policy route-map PBR) on VLAN int i get an error msg saying that the command is not recognized.

Apr 3, 2012I need to enable vPC "peer-switch" command on a pair of Nexus 7018s which are currently vPC peers (primary and secondary). The STP root and Secondary root are currently configured across these switches.Can I enable the peer-switch command in this configuration without impacting services, and then modify both switches to have the same bridge priority without impacting services ? We have a few downstream 5ks which are not dual homed to both vPC peers (work in progress) so need to understand if the peer-switch command will in any way break this connectivity for now.

This means that i need to backup the cureent (old) ios to my tftp server but the command keeps failing. Dec 5, 2012I have been working on some Catalyst 3750's running 12.2(55)SE6 and hit an issue with CEF load-balancing over multiple equal-cost paths. Anyway this issue is now solved but it introduced me to the command 'show platform forward' - this shows you how the forwarding of a packet would be done via hardware cef (as opposed to the command 'sho ip cef exact-route' command that only shows the software cef path). Anyway I tried the command on a 3560G running 15.0(2)SE and it crashes the switch. I tried it a couple of times and verified that the MAC & IP addresses were exactly right in the command and each time the switch crashes. I have extracted the relevant bits from the crashinfo and attached them.

Jun 5, 2013I'm fairly new to Cisco products am in the process of developing my network knowledge on a deeper level. I have a 3825 with a HWIC-4ESW and I'm struggling to fully understand how the two "see" each other. I've setup a V LAN with a layer 3 address on the HWIC and added the switch ports to it. This seemed to allow devices connected to the switch ports to talk to the built-in router ports. I thought this was all making sense until i applied an access-list to the router port. It's a simple ACL i'm just using for testing and the only thing it does is blocks telnet from anywhere. I know the ACL is setup properly because if I connect a device directly to the router port i cannot telnet to the port. However, if i connect a device to one of the switch ports, i am able to telnet to the router port successfully.
It seems that I'm missing something with how traffic flows from the switch port to the router ports and how the two "see" each other.

Oct 19, 2012I have a small lab setup and I am trying to implement an IDS/IPS on the network. I have 3 VLANs setup (10, 20, and 30) with the switch and a router allowing for inter-vlan communication. Port FA 0/1 on the switch is setup as a trunk using 802.1Q connected to a single interface on the router.
I want to be able to monitor traffic on the trunk link on the switch and replicate that to the IDS/IPS host. Is there a way I can mirror traffic from FA 0/1 (the trunk link) to a regular access port on the switch which would connect to the IDS/IPS?
I have seen several articles on Cisco.com saying that you can have a source port as a multi-vlan link, but others say it is not possible. I did not have a chance to get into the lab to test this yet or else I would have.

We are getting link flaps and we suspect that it's a speed issue between the two. However, I cannot find how to set the speed on the old OS of the 3508 switch.

I have recently purchased a second hand 3512 XL which I have managed to connect to via PuTTY and the console cable. I am trying to connect the switch to Cisco Network Assistant however I am unable to connect to the switch over a cat5 on the first port (nothing else is on the network, just a server directly to the switch). I have tried pinging the switch from my server, and similarly I have tried pinging the server from the switch and each time there is 100% fail rate.

Is there any difference between these two switch modules? or are they the same and the more expensive "P" version is simply supplied with the ILPM-4 daughter card for POE?
