Cisco Switching/Routing :: C800 - Connection Using DSL To Router / Hub?
Apr 23, 2012
I am trying to connect a cisco 800 series router using adsl to a bt router/hub. This didn't work at all - so the cisco router is now connected to the bt router using a switch and the adsl cable. When I connect my pc to the cisco router, it doesn't go on the subnet it's supposed to be on. it's set to the gateway on the cisco router and the pc is set to 192.168.3.252. The bt router is on 192.168.1.x. When I connect a pc to the cisco router, and assign an ip address e.g. 192.168.3.123 it doesn't have any internet connectivity, but when I set it to get the ip automatically, it gets the ip address.
Currently, I have in a number of remote sites (with dynamic public address) a C800.On this Cisco, I have a config for initiating an agressive-mode tunnel to a central ASA.relevant part of the config:
Now I need to replace these C800 by ASA5505. But I don't know how to replace the "crypto isakmp peer address" command in ASA.The C800 transmits both the password (abcdefg in my example) and the fqdn (remotesite1 in the example). how to configure the ASA to build the tunnel the way the C800 did?
We have a new internet connection from DSL cisco router 800 Series (877).
You has been delivered it to us with Cisco Router 800 series (Ver 877), when we connect it to the PC directly it’ll work fine with the static IP.
We configured the OSPF between the Switch and the Router. and we can reach to the DSL router IP from our LAN any where. but we can't exit from the router to the internet.

We are having problems with a two router 3945 in HSRP and a switch 2960.The two routers are connected to the switch 2960 through differentes ports. The problem is that we loose connection between the router and the switch. When we excute the command: show cdp neighbor at router, it shows nothing. If we try to make ping to the 2960 switch it is no reachable. If we make ping to the other router 3945 it is not reachable. All other function of the router are o.k.We are attaching the IOS of the routers and switch 2960 and a document in which make reference to a BUG in which mention about arp overwrite due arp attack which produce DoS.
I recently lost my configuration when attempting to reset the password for our Cisco 3560g switch, the switch connects to a Cisco 4506 switch via fiber back to our main office.
I have the switch temporarily routing all traffic to our 4506 by using the default route of 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.10.254 but the same switch is connected to a cisco 2600 router that is on a 10.10.20.0 network and the 3560g is on a 10.0.0.0 network.
Host computers sit on the 10.0.0.0 network, but they need to go to the 10.10.10.0 network for internet, domain, etc the same computers need to go to the 10.10.10.20 for remote connections and other services.
The address of the 3560g is: 10.0.0.254 The address of the 2600 is 10.10.20.2
When the default route is set to 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.10.254 (4560 switch) domain browsing works perfectly When the default route is set to 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.20.2 (3560G) switch I can ping any ip address in that range and the address on the other interface ip adresses on the 2600 (eg. 10.10.30.1 / eth2, 10.10.40.1/ eth3 etc.)
I have tried to weight the routes after adding them both to the configuration, but that doesn't seem to work at all.
The switch connects back to the office via vlan1 (10.10.10.253) The 2600 is connected to port 1, which belongs to Vlan2 (10.10.20.1) And client computers sit on ports 2-12 belonging to Vlan10 (10.0.0.240)
So in a nut shell, how would I go about setting it up so the machines on 10.0.0.0 can connect to 10.10.20.0 and 10.10.10.0 and vice versa at the same time? Everything was working fine until I rebooted the switch (3560g), which makes me think the person that configured this before me didn't save the running config to the start up config.
i have a cisco 1900 series router from the isp and we connect it the our router the rv042 small biz, and we have here a cisco catalyst 2950 switch with just default configuration connected to the hosts.
my problem is from time to time that the connection is lost there is no connection with the router and the only solution is to turn off and on the cisco 1900 router and the connection will be back.
do we need to configure the routers and switches? what do you need to configure?
I have two site that has a copper wire ( 2 wire) connection between each router ( No Telco in between ). Now I want to use 1921 router with HWIC-4SHDSL-E card to connect these two site together. Can I use attach configuration to make the connection reference from the diagram ?
We have our Nexus as our default gateway (101.1) and the default VLAN1 is setup with two subnets 101.X and 102.X. The DHCP server is using a superscope setup to accomodate the overflow of devices requesting IPs on 101, so when 101 is consumed persons are able to obtain a 102.X IP address. The setup is basic on superscope. The issue is some times the routing to the firewall with a 102.X is not always 100%. Somedays all goes well and the 102 subnet is routed out to the firewall and its a good day. However, such as today a 102.X address is not routing as it did 24 hours ago. I am perplexed as to why this is behaving unpredicatable. Here is running-config for VLAN1 to show the 102 as secondary address to VLAN1.
I am working on a network which has two ISP connections (Active/Active) terminating on router (ASR1000). From the LAN side (6500 switch) all the traffic need to be route on ISP1 but some of the specific subnets like 10.250.0.0/16 need to be route on ISP2 connection.
I am planning to use PBR and NAT with route maps. any documents or refrences are provided.
I am having some difficulties to have a stable connection on a Cisco 881. I have a IP Sla running with an ICMP-ECHO towards the uplink router. Linked with this is a tracking on the IP SLA so I can shutdown an HRSP instance with the tracking. The desired result is with this that when the nexthop becomes unavailable HSRP switches to the second router with the backup connection.
Regardless whatever timeout or threshold, the tracking switches at a random point when the line is somewhat congested. Debugging it shows me only a time-out on the IP SLA.
Is there anything possible to get the icmp-echo to retry it 2-3 times or so before going it's status is set to failure? [code]
I currently have a network with (8) 2960 Cisco Switches. (6) of the 2960 switches are etherchanneled back to (2) 2960 switches in the computer room. I would like to setup QOS on the (8) switches, however the traffic is very differnt on each of the switches. I have video, ip phone, server, printer, PC traffic. I am not sure what the best method of separating this traffic into differnt QOS queues.
I have connected a Cisco switch ( SG 200-08) to a HP switch, everything works fine when have the HP port as untagged, but I can't get out when I tag the HP port. Maybe this is a HP problem but we can tag other ports on it to other switches.
Is it some setting on the Cisco switch i need to do? I have put 7 ports as access and one as trunk.
I've got my 881 3g connection working. It's not the fastest connection but, I think it will work fo people who have no DSL or no cable service or as a backup. Pings from the remote office to the remote user PC average around 180 ms. Does that seem right? I was able to make phone calls and video calls to the Main Branch with a little latency with the video. Also had a WebEx going at the sametime.
I', using a Cisco antenna but, Is there anything else I can do to optimize the connection?
I tried to connect a 1841 to a Linksys with a static route. I am able to ping from a computer in the 1841 to a computer in the linksys network, but I can't ping from a computer in the Linksys network to a computer in the 1841 network?
I've a problem with my 871W. I can connect to the router by inside interfaces (LAN & WLAN) but not on WAN (Fa4). My client on the WAN is on the same subnet and I can ping 871.
I have a 1721 router installed with both an adsl wic and a 4 port switch wic card. My setup is as follows:
pc connected to port 3 (mode access on vlan 20) on the 4 port switch wic (installed in 1721 router)port 4 is configured as trunk (encap dot1q) and connected to fasethernet 0 (inbuild of 1721)fastethernet 0 configured with no ip address?
created sub-interface fastethernet 0.20 with encapsulation dot1q on vlan 20?ip address of sub interface 0.20 is 192.168.20.240?pc nic ip address is 192.168.20.245 however cannot ping 20.240?I want to use only this router with its switch wic for vlans and internet?
We need to deploy a 3750X switch with 10 Gb module. The pb is what SFP to choose ? The 10 Gb ports will be attached to an ethernet 10 Gb RJ-45 Server port. The 10 Gb connection has to be copper (not fiber). Is this reference ok : SFP-H10GB-CU3M= (version 2) ? I mean is it a copper cable with an attached SFP.
I need to know about situation that i need connection between SFP+ with X2. i have 4849 E-F and it just support SFP+ and in other side i have 6509E and i can no find any Line Card with SFP+ Support and i should use 10G connection between them .
I am installing a connection between Brocade MLX and Cisco 4503 using SE and SVI's. Below is the config for each. Am I missing anything like MTU Ignore or something along that nature?
*** Cisco 4503 (v15.01) Config *** VLAN 35 name EOC_Gi1/2
I recently saw it for a good price online, and required a new router (had a netgear that died, and my backup was a really buggy Belkin which I'm currently using).I'm having an issue with the internet, in that when I connect my ADSL modem to the WAN port it seems to work fine, however the PC can't connect to the internet. When I go into the settings it says that the WAN connection is OK and even shows my external IP. I have it set via the stardard DHCP setup.Should I have done anything specific to my ADSL modem before plugging it into the RV180W? The Modem (D-Link 320B) also has a DHCP server on it, however I assume that this causes no issues when connected to the RV180W.
I have a SR520W-ADSL-K9, I´m trying to setup it trough CCA, but I have some troubles. At the internet connection I mark PPoE option, enter the vci=0, vpi=35, the username, the password (like the ISP TELMEX suggest), and mark the IP Negotiated option, but I have not find the ISP service give me an IP Address and establish the connection.
I have two 3560s that i would like to upgrade. But first i would like to make -absolutely- sure i dont wind up in a situation where i have to roll back over a console connection.to the day i still cant understand why oh why someone removed (or chose not to implement it everywhere) tftpdnld from rommon ;)
We have a new building where we added 3 network closets with 3750x stacks. We have 2 fiber gig ports connected to 2 microwave units and etherchanneled the to ports
We have the same setup at the corporate office except the connection is 2 fiber gig ports on a 6509. The 6509 is doing the routing
Now the problem is that we lost the connection to the management interface on only one of the three closets after a few days running. But some workstations at the corp office could reach it... others could not. The workstation were on the same VLAN. We solved the problem for a few days by shutting on of the fiber ports on the etherchannel. But is started happening again... now with PCs being installed at the new location.
The PC that was not working on the 3750x side could ping across to the 6509 but no further then that. It seems like an arp issue not routing because some devices are reachable and fully operational throughout the network.
Here is the configuration:
3750x:Cisco IOS Software, Version 12.2(55)SE1 Current configuration : 118 bytes!interface Port-channel1switchport trunk encapsulation dot1qswitchport mode trunkno snmp trap link-statusend !interface GigabitEthernet1/1/1description 2gig to STB-6509switchport trunk
I have two WS-C2960-24TC-L Switch with Software Ver 12.2(25r)SEE6 with image c2960-lanbase-mz.122-35.SE5.bin and 12.2(25r)SEE1 with image c2960-lanbase-mz.122-25.SEE2.bin currently on it.
I want to enable SSH connections on the switches and believe I need to import the cryto image onto the switch. I would like to upgrade it to new version that can also support ssh connection but not sure which image to download from cisco. The switches are now live.
System image file is "flash:c2960-lanbase-mz.122-35.SE5/c2960-lanbase-mz.122-35.SE5.bin" cisco WS-C2960-24TC-L (PowerPC405) processor (revision H0) with 61440K/4088K
Company I work for just moved into a new location. We have two data closets which are patched as independent entities, with no Ethernet tie connection. These closets are roughly 100 feet apart.
There is a fiber connection that runs between both closets, that the previous tenant used to connect the switches. I have placed a Cisco 2960 switch in each location, and added one mini SFP gbic's to each switch. After attaching both sides, neither light up. I do a sh inter gig1/0/49 on each and shows 'down down' (not admin down).
What is the trick on getting these to communciate, do I need to configure these ports, and are they supposed to light up?
What I am trying to accomplish is to get the one closet that is completely cut off, communicating by logically stacking, or 'daisy chaining' via fiber.
I turned off the lights and popped the fiber out, and I do see a faint red light (I did not look straight into it), so I think the fiber is active.
