I've been implementing a setup where a remote office has a Cisco 1900 router. There are 2 GRE/ IP SEC tunnels to the headquarters, 1 over public internet, 1 over a private cloud. Because of some MTU issues we have to clear the DF bit for some of the traffic, but we also want to use PBR to send https traffic over the "public internet" tunnel and the rest of the traffic over the "private cloud" tunnel. I'm able to clear the DF bit and to do the PBR with route-maps, but I'm not able to implement both functionality at the same time.

I can see the console on the router. (Using the USB console connected to a Macintosh.) I was configuring the router though this console connection, and I created a new user (priv level 15) and removed the default 'cisco' user. So I'm stuck at the username/password login prompt now.
I decided to do the password recovery procedure (via the cisco doc I found etc), but I cannot break into ROMMON during the boot process. I'm not sure if that's because my Mac isn't sending the break, or what.
The pw recovery doc says you can "remove flash" if you can't break into the boot sequence. However, I cannot find any instructions on how to remove the flash. I've opened the router, and I see one very small daughter card on the main board that I think is the flash, but I'm not about to start arbitrarly prying parts off.

I am troubleshooting memory leaks and buffers issues on my 1900 and had some doubts regarding the problems that my router causes.Intermitently during the day for no reason the gig0/0 interface connected to ISP stops responding from our management network (log shows that the interface goes down). The ISPs modem responds fine from my management network. The issue goes away by itself in 20 minutes, sometimes more or after a hard reboot.Sometimes a router would increment a throttle value to 1. When running for 4 days without a reboot, the router raised 39 throttles and 57 input drops. [code] The router is running Version 15.1(2)T4 and I was not able to find any caveats on cisco web page (although I havent used the bug finder tool)Is this only leak I found a reason to start worrying or I can disregard it and continue basic troubleshooting (change cable and plug my ISP to another port)

I've got a problem with DHCP running on a cisco 1900 series router, 1921 to be precise. The Data VLAN works perfectly, i configured a ip helper address and its working. Problem tough is VLAN 20. This is the voice vlan. As u can see in the config below, this has been configured using VRRP and VRF for failover purposes. I did more of these configurations, and they all worked fine, just not with this particular router!
As u will notice i deleted all the not needed to know information or i X'ed it!

I have 5 SVIs configured for VLAN Interfaces 121-125 for my vSphere environment.
All VMs can ping IPs on all the VLANs (VMs on VLAN 124 can ping VMs on VLAN121)
All VMs, except those on VLAN 124, can access the Internet or even ping my router IP.
If I change one of the VLAN 124 VMs to use a different VLAN, and update the addressing appropriately, it can access the Internet.
The problem is exhibited with Windows and Linux VMs. So, I believe something in my switch setup is the problem with VLAN 124 in particular.
If i do a show vlan brief, VLAN 124 is listed.
If I do a show ip int brief, VLAN 124 is listed as upup. I also tried to shut o shut the VLAN 124 interface.
Only one specific VLAN has connectivity problems?
My topology is Catalyst 3560 to home router to Internet.

They have a locked Cisco Router which is from the ISP and its confed on a fa 0/0 interface to share Internet access on the network. The ip on that interface is 195.198.11.217 255.255.255.252 and i tried it with a PC (set my personal ip to .218 and entered their dns info (195.67.199.27) and it is working. The question is now. My friend found a 3550 laying around and since the ISP wont let them conf their router he wants to use the 3550 to create 2 vlans with internet access and without access to eachother. Vlan 10 for the desktops and Vlan 20 for the wireless (Moving on to some netgear wireless switches) How would you configure the 3550 for this to work?

i am trying to set up a cisco 2950 with a vlan to seperate all of the pos machines on the network (4 of them) from all other machnes in the building (3 hard wired and wi-fi). i was going to use vlan 1 as a trunk to allow internet access to go from fa0/1 to both vlans (vlan 10 and vlan 20). i have read things about the acl having an explicit deny at the end, so i'm thinking that is my problem. i am testing it at my house before deploying it to the network. i have 1 laptop setup with an ip of 192.168.0.50, and the other is .60. my router is 192.168.0.1. i have the ethernet from the router plugged into fa0/1, the 1st laptop on fa0/2 and the other at fa0/3. before i set the vlans up, i checked the communication by just plugging them in and trying to ping, they could both ping each other, the router and 8.8.8.8. when i finished setting up the test vlans, they could not ping each other(what i wanted) and laptop 1 can ping the router, and 8.8.8.8. laptop 2 cannot ping anything.
the only thing i did was create vlan 10 and 20, set port fa0/2 to vlan 10 and no sh, fa03 to vlan 20 and no sh, fa0/1 to vlan 1 and no sh. then i did switchport mode trunk on fa0/1, and switchport native vlan 1. this seems to be how i was supposed to do it, but it's been a while since i have worked with switches. i'm sure it's simple, but after searching the internet and poring over my cisco books for 5 hours, it is turning out not to be the case. here are some details:
greenhouse#sh int fa0/1 switchport
Name: Fa0/1
Switchport: Enabled
Administrative Mode: trunk
Operational Mode: trunk
Administrative Trunking Encapsulation: dot1q

My problem is that I have a Cisco 300 series small business switch with multiple VLANS each one with an IP address and two or three ports assigned to each VLAN. I have an E3200 wireless router that I want to use to use to share internet on the switch. All of the VLANs are reachable from the other VLANs and I've put a static route on the E3200 so that I can reach the VLANs from a machine connected only to the router. But I can't reach machines on the otherside of the router or get to the internet from the switch.

Today I was having a conversation with my Cisco Academy teacher from a few years back, and we couldn't figure this out.I am getting an internet connection via Verizon FiOS. Instead of giving me an ISR, they're going to just give me an ethernet cable. Here's what I want to do with it.
This cable is going to be plugged into a 1900 series router. Connect to that will be a 48 port switch. Connected to that will be multiple servers to be used for web hosting, email, databases, etc. My ISP is providing me with 13 public addresses, however, it is not my own unique subnet.
Here comes the question; how would I set this up? The way I was originally thinking was to assign one IP to fa0/0, a second to fa0/1, and then assign the fa0/1 address as the default gateways for all the hosts on the inside. But then I realized that it won't let me have the same network on 2 ports.

I have the network described below, on which I am running PIM.
(network) ---- Embedded Linux Router --(vlan 5)-- CAT 3560G --(vlan 5)-- Cisco 1811 Router ---- Multicast Listener
The Linux Router and the 1811 have formed a PIM neighbor relationship. The multicast listener sends an IGMP Join and I can see the PIM join leave the 1811 router (via "debug ip pim"). Using tcpdump on my linux router I never see the Join come in, but I can see the PIM Hellos (which is why the neighbor relationship formed).

I have a network with a Catalyst 3750 as the main switch and then some Catalyst 2960 switches that are plugged in to that. I have a server running windows server 2008 with a couple of virtual machines running in Hyper-V. I created 4 VLANS listed below and gave the 3750 the following IP Address.I would like the 3750 to only be configurable from VLAN 40 but currently every VLAN can connect to it, I noticed in the standard web page settings there was a setting for "Management VLAN" but it was set to 1 and would not let me change it, I kinda assumed that was for the management port in the back.-Now the tricky part, I was trying to set up routing between the VLANs and so far I have only been able to get a sort of "all or nothing" routing to work. I can turn IP routing on and add two or more VLANs to the routing and it works fine. But what I was hoping to do is create a couple of "junction vlans" that would only route to one or two other vlans. For instance, I wanted to create a VLAN 100 that routed to VLAN 20 and 30 but nothing else. I also want to route VLAN 1 just to VLAN 30, and so on. I am able to do each one of the cases but only one, it seems like the switch only supports one "routing table" am I missing something or is this just a limitation of the switch?

I have a network with several catalyst 2960 switches and one catalyst 3750. I have created two VLAN and set up the proper routing and everything is working fine there. I have a client/server application that used multicast in the initial start up for the client to determine available servers, the issue is one of my clients is on a different VLAN then the server. I am able to route the multicast using MVR as long as both the server and the client are plugged into the 3750 by creating a static route, making the server a source port and the client a receive port. Unfortunately I need the client and the server plugged in to different 2960s. My question is how do I establish multicast routing between the two and perferably do it dynamically (always route multicast traffic from one VLAN to another).

I have been looking into this for a while and I can't seem to figure out why my 2nd vlan is not able to connect properly to the net.
My switch has 12 ports where my devices connects directly, they are all on Vlan 1 and they all work perfectly. on Port 12 I have a dlink router that is connected to a cable modem. the dlink router has an Ip address of 192.168.0.20
I created a second vlan (vlan2) and enabled dhcp relay on it. then I assigned port 9 on the switch to (vlan2)my laptop which is connected to port 9 seems to get an ip address fine and able to ping only some devices on my network (vlan1) and is not able to go out to the internet. I think it has to do with the routes. [code]

I am implementing a guest wireless network to work alongside my internal network. The guest network will use the existing switching network and will be separated by VLANs. I have the ASA set so that traffic can get to it and out to the Internet. I can set up a workstation on the same VLAN as my guest network and can route inside my network (strictly doing this for testing purposes). Where I am having problems is with the Catalyst 4506 switches and the ip routing. I had two separate "ip route" statements defined on my switches.
ip route 10.200.2.0 255.255.255.0 10.200.2.254
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.100.100.254
I have discovered that the traffic is always following the default route despite the fact that my IP address on my test workstation falls in the 10.200.2.x network. I was looking at documentation and found that it is possible to set up policy-based routing on the core switches. Can you have two "ip route" statements defined like this to segreate traffic or do I have to use PBR for routing (or a combination) in this case? If I define PBR then how does that impact my existing routing? I need to make sure that I can still route the existing traffic while I'm configuring this change.

We have two catalyst 3560 switches running c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin They are connected using etherchannel using gi 0/21 - 24 interfaces.
on 3560-1 switch, there isn't any ip-default gateway or ip route configured. It only have 1 interface vlan configured.
on 3560-2 switch, there is ip default gateway configured along with 1 interface vlan.
What i dont understand here is that, i can reach out to other subnets from 3560-1 switch in which the routing is not enabled?

I have peculiar challenge ahead of me and would like to get new perspectives.
The objective is to route specific VLAN traffic and the caveat is that I have multiple VLANs with the same network address.
For example:
VLAN100 10.10.10.0/28 VLAN101 10.10.11.0/28 VLAN102 10.10.12.0/28
VLAN103 10.10.12.0/28
VLAN104 10.10.11.0/28
I need traffic going from VLAN100 with a destination of 10.10.11.0 forwarded to VLAN101 and NOT VLAN104.
This task is currently being completed by a multi context firewall and we're trying to decommission the asset.

From my 2800 series router I am able to ping out to the internet, also I am able to ping the vlan interfaces on the catalyst switch. Problem is from the catalyst switch I can ping the inside and outside address of the 2800 but I cannot get any further then that. I cannot ping the 2800 router gateway.
