Cisco VPN :: Forward L2TP IPsec 5510 Requests To ForeFront TMG Server
Mar 3, 2012
I have added an ASA 5510 to my network between the Internet and a Windows 2008R2 server running ForeFront TMG. Before the ASA was added, vpn clients using Microsoft Windows 7 vpn client using L2TP/IPsec connected to our vpn. After ASA was added, clients can no longer connect. I would like to know how to configure the ASA to forward the vpn requests to the ForeFront TMG server for authentication and access to internal network resources. Mail is forwarded appropriately through the ASA to internal mail server and Internet access for LAN users works just fine.
Topology:
ASA 5510 (outside interface is ISP IP address, inside interface is 192.168.1.1)................Forefront TMG (outside nic 192.168.1.2, inside nic is LAN gateway IP address).
I have altered the registry key of the client vpn pc's per Microsoft Technet URL

I have a 5510 that i have configured for L2TP over IPSEC, not using AnyConnect. The first, and most prevelant being, VPN clients are unable to ping/access any of the hosts that are assigned a static NAT from the inside interface to the outside interface. I was able to circumvent this by adding another static NAT to the public interface for the incoming clients, but this caused intermittent connectivity issues with inside hosts. The second issue involves DNS. I have configured two DNS servers, both of which reside on the internal network and are in the split_tunnel ACL for VPN clients, but no clients are using this DNS. What is the workaround for using split tunneling AND internal DNS servers, if any?
i've had two different CCNA's look at this numerous times to no avail. A ping from a VPN client to any internal host works fine, unless it is one that is NAT'd. You can see in the config where i added the extra STATIC NAT to try and fix the issue. And this works perfectly across the tunnel but only intermittenly from the internal 10.1.4.x network. [code]

Co-worker just got a Blackberry Playbook tablet and, try as I might, we cannot get the darn thing to successfully set up a working IPSEC/L2TP vpn tunnel to our ASA 5510, which acts as a multi-purpose VPN concentrator. Any luck setting up L2TP/IPSEC VPN to ASA from Blackberry Playbook?

I'm opening a new topic related to my problem with the VPN connection, to avoid confusion, since there are many, in the old information, no longer required.
I would like to configure my ASA5510 L2PT/IpSec to accept connections from Windows clients. I happen to authenticate via AD credentials. When I try to connect is because the error 691. I enabled debugging on the machine the following:
debug crypto isakmp 3
debug crypto ipsec 3
debug ldap 255

i configurated ipsec vpn at cisco asa 5510. all them are working very well. now i want to change ipsec remote vpn to L2tp over ipsec.i have router, asa and 3750 switch. all nat translation are done at router , ipsec vpn configurate at asa.
this is my ipsec configuration. this is working config. as you see i do static nat asa outside ip for vpn at router. now i want l2tp over ipsec. before i do it i have some question
1. must i do static nat port udp 1701 for l2tp over ipsec vpn? can i write access list at asa to open port 1701?
2. can i remove this static nat or i can not be change anything.is this nat is true for l2tp over ipsec vpn?
3.as you see user authentication from radius server at ipsec vpn. i also want this is same as l2tp over ipsec vpn..
4. i think that i must be add this addtional config. is this true? tunnel-group DefaultRAGroup ppp-attributesno authentication chapauthentication ms-chap-v2
is this config enougth for l2tp over ipsec vpn?? what is addtional config i need?

If i try to connect with a Windows 7 Client (NOT behind NAT) I get the Error 691.
I see that Phase 1/2 are working with debug:

Dec 22 16:51:25 [IKEv1]: Group = DefaultRAGroup, IP = XXXXXX, PHASE 2 COMPLETED (msgid=00000001)
Then I see this "Error":
Dec 22 16:51:26 [IKEv1]: Group = DefaultRAGroup, IP = XXXXX, Session is being torn down. Reason: L2TP initiated
I don't understand why it doens't work....I tried many templates from the net but nothings works.

I need to forward traffic from an Amazon server to an internal server with a SQL database on it so need to forward TCP 1433 to an internal IP (192.168.252.43) I have created an access rule to allow the amazon IPP through on 1433 but I am unsure how to point the traffic to the SQL server on the LAN.
I expect I will need to create a NAT rule to do this but cannot see how to achieve it.
I have another problem concerning a site to site VPN which establishes OK but does not pass traffic, I will post that question separately.

We have an 1140N AP connected to a switch and our "network partner" controls the router and will hand out DHCP and do the NAT for this WLAN. How can I configure the AP to forward DCHP requests through.
I have WPA2 PSK (TKIP) setup and the client is able to authenticate however we fail to get an address. In this case the Ethernet interface was left alone so it has the default config and it gets a DHCP address fine. How can I configure this AP to enable the rest of the WiFI clients to get an IP?

Goal: To forward requests over port 80 from my LAN to an external server on a specific port, that is I would like to forward all requests over http to an external proxy.
I know that this can be done with IP-Tables, but I would like to do the same thing with my D-Link. I have looked at Advanced --> Routing, but that seems to be specifically for inbound requests. I want to do this for outbound requests. This can be achieved with the D-Link DIR-655?

We are in a planning phase of adding another service to our DMZ. The DMZ has a singe publicly accessible IP. We are running Citrix inside our network externally accessible via w121eb https (443). Another service will be added to the DMZ (Exchange/O365) requiring ADFS & and ADFS proxy also using port 443 as well. Both services (the Citrix secure gateway & ADFS) will have separate subdomains but directed to that same IP, each with its own cert.
Now, I guess the question is: How (if possible) can we forward the public requests to the two services that hit our network on the same port (can't change the port on either), to two separate appliances with their own internal IP's internally? Our current appliance on the DMZ is an ASA 5505. Also could use a PIX

I'm trying to setup a L2TP over IPSEC vpn connection on a PIX 501 that will use key sharing. In addition, I have a PPTP connection setup which allows connectivity. Two things, the L2TP vpn client I am using does not connect and times out. The second is that the PPTP client I use does connect, but cannot ping any resources on the network.
The config on the PIX is below:

I had my PPTP VPN working great at my old place, now that I moved I also upgraded my speed which means I got a different 2Wire. This 2Wire can only do DMZ mode and can't bridge. ( I tried everything, including the mdc page, no go). This works fine apart from blocking GRE somehow. I'm using a Mikrotik RB450G as my PPTP server. Does L2TP or IPSEC use the GRE protocol?

I have a Cisco 7200 and need to establish L2TP over IPSEC session with a Draytek Fly200. Draytek must use L2TP over IPSEC to provide LAN-to-LAN connectivity. IPSEC phase 1 and 2 is ok, L2TP tunnel is also established, but on cloned virtual-access IPCP negotiation is not completed:

I'm having problem establish l2tp/ipsec vpn connection from Windows vista/7 vpn client to cisco 1921 ( ios 15.2 )
C1 --------> (internet cloud) ---------> (cisco 1921)----->LAN
Error that I'm retrieving is always the same: Error 789: "The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during initial negotiations with the remote computer"
But I'm able to establish l2tp/ipsec vpn connection to the same vpn server with my iPhone 4.
Below is isakmp debug log from lns router(cisco 1921) when I've tried to establish vpn with windows client. Anything useful from these logs to point me on the right direction to finally solve this problem with windows clients.

We succeeded in making IPSEC tunnel (ending "Phase 2 completed"), but we cannot make L2TP tunnel working. We're using RADIUS for L2TP authentication, but ASA doesn't even try to check credentials entered by use. Branch1 10.47.x.x L2L VPN
Branch2 10.47.y.x L2L VPN

I can access my internal resources connected to the ASA but not the DMZ or branch offices. Do I need routing and reverse route injection?

I'm using Cisco VPN client 5.0.7 and Cisco ASA 5510 (7.4 and 8.4.2) VPN RAS solution. Clients are authenticated using certificates and AAA RADIUS (ACS 3.3) and AD.Each time, when client connects, ASA issues 2 RADIUS requests, first - correct one which is successfully authenticated by ACS and immediately - second which always fails. I couldn't find any information related to this strange behaivor. "Double authentication" feature (most likeable to its name) is accessible only to Anyconnect clients which we don't use. When I'm authenicated using group password, there is only one RADIUS request. What is the source of such behavior? The negative impact is that my logs are filled with spurious failed auth attempts, and users are incrementig failed attemps counter in AD.

I have a Linksys WAP200 Wireless-G Access Point problem. It is SW version 2.0.4.0. I have it configured for a small network and the problem seems to be that it is not forwarding DHCP requests onto my DHCP server. I know that it is not a SSID or Key issue as when I give my devices static IP addresses, they communicate fine within my system. The only issue seems to be when the devices make DHCP client requests. I also know that the problem is not my DHCP server as it has the device's IP / mac addresses in its configuration file and other wired devices are able to communicate with it to get their IP address through DHCP.
I have seen that there was talk in some blogs about WAP200 no forwarding DHCP requests and I was hoping that updating the device to the latest release would have resolved the problems.

I can communicate with the subnets on either site from the other and both are connected to the internet, however I need to ensure that all the traffic at my site B goes through this VPN to my site A.
I changed this access-list : access-list outside_2_cryptomap extended permit ip network_siteB network_siteA to access-list outside_2_cryptomap extended permit ip network_siteB any
But this does not work. If I do [URL], site B IP address is not same that site A.

I have several Cata 3500XL switches connected to one 1 HP L3 switch which is connected Sonicwall router. Vlan1 has subnet of 10.10.0.0/24 and Microsoft DCHP server lays inside VLAN1.
Now i want to add VLAN11 (192.168.10.0/24) as second data VLAN but DHCP requests should go to microsoft DCHP server.
This is what i did:
Configured VLAN11 IP on each cisco switch
IP default gateway with IP from other subnet (i guess this is bad since maybe it should be IP of VLAN11 on HP L3 switch?)
Trunk ports are configured to pass everything on cisco switches
On VLAN11 i configured IPhelper IP to be MS DHCP server on each Cisco switch
I haven't tested this yet but i have problem in process.I can't ping VLAN11 IPs between switches (i configured VLAN1 and VLAN11 with IP). When client plugs computer to a port that belongs to VLAN11 will i be sure that client will get IP from the 192.168 range or there is possiblity that he gets IP from the management VLAN range?

Setting up a stand-alone WDS/PXE server.Current we have helper addresses setup to forward the DHCP requests from the different VLAN's to the DHCP server. The WDS/PXE server we are setting up is on its server. How do we craft the helper addresses so DHCP requests go to the proper server hosting DHCP and PXE requests go the WDS server?
Everything I seen on Microsoft Technet, lists using Helper Address as the recommended way, but assume both services are on the same server. Our helper address is as follows on each VLAN interface in router: ip helper-address X.X.X..This is a Cisco 3750.

We have a Cisco ASA 5520
We are attempting to setup RRAS on Windows 2008R2 using L2TP. Server is on the inside of the network at 10.10.10.20 our ASA is 10.10.10.1 its outside interface is 68.0.0.0.3/28.
I set a static NAT rule to allow all traffic pointed at 68.0.0.4 to be directed to 10.10.10.20 and have ACLs allowing the following.
esp, ah, udp/500, udp/4500, udp/1701
Mac Clients have no issues with but windows clients seem to hang and never connect. I know the ASA configuration is somehow to blame, if I attempt to connect to LAN IP (10.10.10.20) from withn the same network every thing works fine (making sure all the Windows Issues are covered). We have 2 other IPSEC tunnels established to teh ASA from our COLO and a Satalite office, not sure if this makes it any harder.
