We succeeded in making IPSEC tunnel (ending "Phase 2 completed"), but we cannot make L2TP tunnel working.We're using RADIUS for L2TP authentication, but ASA doesn't even try to check credentials entered by use. The same set of credentials entered on Windows {XP, VISTA, 7, Mobile} works ok. Which debugging options should we turned on?

We are using SRP527 routers with PPPoE ADSL connections. From the SRP527 we create an IPSec tunnel to our core routers (Cisco ASR). We are wanting to change the IPSec tunnels to L2TP, and I need to know if this can be done from the SRP527. I cannot find any L2TP configuration options in the setup options.Can the SRP527W act as an L2TP tunnel initiator over the ADSL PPPoE interface?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got several issues with the E4200.First of all, my connection speed dropped from 2megs/sec to 100k/sec with that router. Flashing it with the lastest firmware worked but still, I don't get all my speed as I has with my WPG54GS (with DD-WRT).Second, speed is really unstable, like if it was working by burst of data.Third, I got a gigabit port on my computer, plugged in the router and still, I can't make more than 10megs/sec WIRED (!) between my computers. I desactivate the ipv6 from my network card but still, no luck.

My understanding is that VPN tunnels on my RV042 routers will send internet traffic out the local gateway, and only send traffic thru the VPN tunnel if it is destined for the remote subnet. That is my understanding of "split tunnel".
Is that not true with the RV016?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have setup an eBGP session to a Cisco 2801 CE router. The BGP session establish, however, the session keeps resetting after 90 sec which is the BGP keepalive holdtime value.
On the PE router I found that the OutQ doesn't clear = 22 when doing a "sh ip bgp x.x.x.x summary" - Session reset at 1:30.When I filter the amount of routes advertized to the CE neighbor with the "neighbor x.x.x.x prefix-list out" - I see the OutQ clear = 0 and the BGP session remains up.
-Number of NRLI advertized without prefix filter = 172
-Number of NLRI after filter = 52
why the OutQ doesn't clear.
I recently replaced an older linksys router with an EA4500. Everything is working fine except for a Lenovo Thinkpad we have. The Lenovo will drop the wireless connection and the only way to reconnect is to disconnect the wireless and reconnect on the Lenovo. With the previous router the Lenovo did not have this issue.There are a number of Apple devices also on the network that do not have this issue either. I've updated the wireless NIC drivers on the Lenovo to the latest and greatest, no changes. Again, problem started when the EA4500 was added.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere is so much mis-information on the Internet and Cisco's own support site has bits and pieces everywhere (I've found at least 5 support pages in Cisco that address this subject), none work or are directly targeted at what I would consider is a major use case for this product. I can see from the many posts everywhere that getting L2TP/IPSEC to work is a major problem, requiring many configuration steps that all have to be perfect and there seems to be some trick to get it to work that most people struggle with. Most of the advice out there is impertinent and highly technical but doesn't work.
I would like to know if there is any consolidated instructions that WORK to create a VPN server on the 5505 using the ASDM and also how to set your Windows 7 (or 2008) client to work with it.
Like I've said, I've spent hours and hours on this and have yet to get anything to work. I have a brand new 5505 connected directly to DSL (static IP) that I ran the wizard on and followed the best advice I could find (by the way there's TONS of information on getting XP to work but afaik, this does NOT work for windows 7). Now that I've tried various things without success, I believe I've gotten it so fouled up I need to reset to factory defaults and start over.
I also have another brand new 5505 connected to a different DSL line. Behind that firewall, I have both windows 7 clients and windows 2008 server. I've tried lots of different things to get these to work including the registry hacks (which, if indeed is required, I seriously can't believe that Cisco hasn't given us a tool for).
I have tried to use the ASDM to do all my programming as I find the CLI to be extremely error prone and virtually incomprehensible.So, what the world needs is one place that gives all the instructions on what to do, step-by-step that really work for this simple use case of windows connecting to the ASA.
I'm trying to setup a L2TP over IPSEC vpn connection on a PIX 501 that will use key sharing. In addition, I have a PPTP connection setup which allows connectivity. Two things, the L2TP vpn client I am using does not connect and times out. The second is that the PPTP client I use does connect, but cannot ping any resources on the network.
