Cisco WAN :: 1841 / 2950 / Unable To Connect To The Internet?
Feb 24, 2011
I'm unable to connect to the internet? My university gave us student permission toset up a cisco lab. I hve an 1841 router and a 2950 catalyst switch in a single room. Fa0/1 is conncted to the switch using a 192.168.3.0 /24 network. DHCP is correctly assaigning ip addresses to the switch.
I connected the Fa0/0 port to the wall and used the following command to obtain an ip on the Fa0/0 port: ip adress dhcp. I used the following route command: ip route dhcp. That didn't work so I used the ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Fa0/0.When I run the sh cdp neighbors command I see a multilayer switch that show me connected to the Ga2/26 port with ip:192.168.179.254.I also see that the default vlan is 200 and the voice vlan is 800.
A linksys router is about to let us access the internet. I am able to ping the 192.168.179.254 address from the 1841 router. What am I missing to connect to the internet.I forgot to mention that I successfully receive an ip from the wall. The latest ip I received was 192.168.179.100 /24.
I'm trying to resolve an issue I'm having with connecting a WLC to the access points. I've inherited a net gear WLC and access points. Having redesigned the network and moving the WLC into the data center I am unable to connect to the APs. The APs are on 192.168.0.x addresses and the WLC is on 10.2.0.x address. I am able to ping to the closest switch (the one the APs are actually attached to) but not the the APs themselves.
All other devices are Cisco devices 4006 to 2950. So it goes WLC (10.2.0.33) - 4006 (10.2.0.23, 192.168.0.99) - 2950 (192.168.0.100) - APs (192.168.0.10 - 35). I have OSPF enabled, I am able to ping from the WLC to the 2950. So from 10.2.0.33 to 192.168.0.100, no problem with that. I try and ping from 10.2.0.33 to any of the APs ie 192.168.0.15 and it cannot find it.
My lease router 1841 is not going behind the Juniper Firewall. i am able to ping and telnet my Juniper firewall, but when i try to ping dns server 4.2.2.2 or any other website it gives me no reply.
Below is the configuration of my Router.
212.50.100.16 ( Juniper Firewall IP)
Router-1841>enPassword:Router-1841#ping 212.50.100.16 Type escape sequence to abort.Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 212.50.100.16, timeout is 2 seconds:.!!!!Success rate is 80 percent (4/5), round-trip min/avg/max =
I'm trying to upgrade my 2950G-24-EI via tftp but it looks like the sw can't transfer any of the files completely or with errors. I downloaded the BIN+TAR files from Cisco (and from another site) matching my Catalyst and opened an TFTP server on my PC. The files are :
Few days ago I started to get the following error message while trying to connect to the internet using Chrome and IE:"Unable to connect to the proxy server..."I don't have a proxy server configured - nothing is checked in the LAN settings page.In Firefox I don't have that problem - it seems it gets the proxy configuration from elsewhere.
In my device I am able to browse through & connect to my HOME wifi network ; But after connecting it says 'No Internet Access'.I tried connecting with my SONY Bluray , iphone , ipad , laptops -- everywhere same story.I am able to plug in the ethernet cable directly from modem & able to connect to network.I am not able to open the http://192.168.0.1 -- ( When I am plugged in the modem directly)
Following are my router details
FCCID - KA2DIR601A1 IC : 4216A-IR601 H/W Ver:A1 F.W Ver:1.00 NA
Getting message, cannot open "flash:" on 1841 evdo router, how do I reinstall flash? I am currently consoled into the router, the prompt is coming up as rommon 1>
I've got an existing Cisco 1841 connecting to a 10Mbps Internet Leased line. With my current setup I've configured PAT for internet access for my users, and we also have some servers on site which are assigned public ip addresses, these can be accessed from the internet. Now we have procured a Cisco 1921 ISR to replace the old 1841, when I connect the 1921 with an identical configuration in place of the old router, 2 things happen.
1) The users accessing the net via the nat are able to work without any inconvenience (good)
2) My servers which have public IP addresses are unable to reach the internet and subsequently I am unable to reach them via the internet (very bad)
My company is using catalyst 3650G which we configured to route between vlans.ports 1-12 on the switch are configured to be in vlan 50 which serves as our servers vlan, port 13-20 are configured to be in vlan 100 in which the CE500 switch connected to (end users are connected here). we have two CE500 swithces and they linked each other via the gigabit uplink port.port 24 is configured as a routed port and connects to a 2811 router. We want to change the Internet connection from Leased Line to Broad Band.Currently we are using the(Leased Line) primary network.Whenever we are try to change the (Broad Band)secondary network,It's not happening the internet[CODE]
I come here today with a problem that has been plaguing this laptop forever and a day. You see, about two or so years ago on this very laptop, it was just another day where I booted up my laptop and was going to get a good day of wasting time on the internet underway. I tried to open Firefox, and I got prompted to download an apparent update for the browser. Obviously I went along with it because it seemed pretty routine and identical to how Firefox had updated in the past.
After the update was all done and dusted, I found myself unable to connect to the internet through Firefox. I would just get a constant stream of "Unable to connect" messages. I thought it might have been a problem on my end since back then I had rather wishy washy internet. So I let it settle for a while. Later on that day I talked to a few of my buddies over Xbox Live and asked if they'd had any similar issues with the new Firefox update because at the time, we all used it and hadn't quite jumped ship to Chrome just yet. But no matter who I asked, I always got the same response "I didn't get any update." Which as you can imagine, confused me quite thoroughly.
Simply what happens when I attempt to connect to the wireless network (Home network). I'll click 'Connect', it will start attempting to connect, it will keep attempting to connect for a good few minutes and then just stop, no error message, no 'unable to connect', it will just stop and I'll be back to square one, the home wireless connection will still be there but not connected.
The connection displays as full signal all the time, but will not connect. In the house we have also got 3 other laptops running from the same connection from time to time, these all connect fine without any hassle.
We have a core switch Catalyst 3550-24-PWR Connected are 2 Catalyst 2960 PoE-24 and one Catalyst 2950-24
3550 together 2960 works well 2960 together 2950 works well 3550 connected with 2950 refuse to establish connection. Port goes down immediately.
Example 3550 Fe0/19+Fe0/20 -> 2960 G0/1+G0/2 status OK 3550 Fe0/21+Fe0/22 -> 2960 G0/1+G0/2 status OK 2960 Fe0/12 -> 2950 Fe0/24 status OK 3550 Fe0/8 -> 2950 Fe0/24 status down
However I cannot connect to the internet, the following message appears. The system cannot up date the telephone book file error 624. I am not connected to a telephone line for my system, as I use a modem USB, which is working ok.
I'm having problems connecting to certain sites on the internet through one computer. I can connect ok on other computers going through the same home network. On the one computer that is having problems I can connect to the site but then when I click on a link I get unable to connect then I can reload the page and some times it connects to the page. So as I am browsing through the site almost every time I click on a link I get unable to connect and have to keep reloading the page.
So my fiance picked up a netbook and we can't get it to connect to my wireless network. It is an XP computer with Service Pack 3. It sees the wireless network, which other devices can connect to with no problem but when I try to connect it I get a limited or no connectivity error. I get the same thing when I try to plug the computer directly into the router. Occasionally it will just connect to the wireless, but it still won't connect to the router, let alone the the internet. Currently it is not connected to anything.
Basically my desktop computer no longer connects to the internet, and I'll try to describe the problem to you all to the best of my ability.I ran ipconfig /all and it is attached. The problem first started a few weeks back and I haven't been able to get around to it due to school. When trying to connect to my router it will connect with limited connectivity (in other words, at the bottom right of the screen when you check the SSID you're connected to, it will show the signal strength, but it also has a yellow exclamation mark indicating it has no connectivity. When I ran the built-in troubleshooter on it, I received multiple things:
- sometimes: "windows could not automatically detect this network proxy settings"
- sometimes: "no errors detected"
Of course I would've done a system restore long ago, however initially I thought the problem was the adapter so I kept re-installing the drivers, I even went to buy other network adapters to make sure my adapter wasn't the one that was defective (I have an ASUS adapter, the other adapters I've tried were D-Link, and Netgear which is also the brand of my router which is very old). Because of all these installs/uninstalls, the old system restores I had were gone. I have Windows 7 64 bit, I'm using wireless connectivity and cannot try ethernet cable due to the immobility of my desktop and problems it would generate around the house. I've attempted to change the IP address of my network properties of ivp4 to defaults, change the DNS server, check my DHCP, check my services, check my registry, and many other things found on the internet (including resetting with netsh)
I've been having connecting my other desktop pc (with windows vista) to the internet. I am connecting it via ethernet/cat 5 and every time I continue to get a message that says unidentified network and it wont connect me to the net. From a previous post, I tryed going in and working with the tcp/ip stacks thru the command prompt and had no luck. So what I did was copy all the information from the command ipconfig.
In Room 1 Computer 1 and computer 2 are connected to the Verizon box via ethernet cables using port LAN 1 & LAN 2.In Room 2 I have Computer 3 connected to the Verizon box using Wireless I then added a ethernet cable into Computer 3 that goes into a Netgear box the ethernet cable goes into the Internet port I then run a ethernet cable into port 1 in the netgear box into the Xbox 360 and on computer 3 I bridge the wireless and LAN connection this then lights up the netgear box showing Internet and Gives the Xbox internet connection but Computer 3 shows and will not connection to the internet just that it is on the LAN network.
My laptop is unable to connect to the internet, all I keep getting is that the network cable is unplugged. I have checked all but cannot find the problem, my grandkids want to use the dreaded laptop.
After recently having a new BT home hub 3.0 installed in our house my computer is unable to connect to the internet. Everything else connects laptops, PlayStation, iPod's just this one computer doesn't.
When the computer is turned on the wireless connection manager says that it is connected and then very quickly loses it again. After reconnecting the computer and trying to go on the internet, explorer says that it is not connected and i can not go to any websites.
Leaving the computer running, the wireless network establishes a link, with full signal strength and then loses it again just as quick. This will just continue for as long as the computer is on.
Computers is not a strength of mine but when trying to repair the connection the computer stops at 'renewing IP address' and does nothing. The only other message i have seen is- 'status: acquiring network address' this never completes and the link is quickly lost.
I have an HP notebook and it says I am connected with my wireless, but I have no internet access. I have tried to do the CMD CONFIG ALL, but it comes up with a black box so there is nothing for me to cut and paste. This happens on my daughter's wireless connection as well as at our public library.
I recently tried to play this game called fiesta which screwed up my system. It couldn't connect to the internet so I uninstalled it, Now a lot of my previous programs are not able to connect to the internet anymore. [code] I am running AVG free as my anti virus and Ad-Aware.I have disabled both but nothing changed.I have turned off my firewall and checked all of the allow a program through windows firewall.
Earlier today I re installed windows XP. Before reinstall my net was working fine. And now it won't connect.I tried to use the installation disc that came with the modem, and partway through the install/set up it says that it cannot find my Gateway.
ipconfig shows " windows up configuration"
And when search the dev managers, network addapters is not in the list.
For the past month or two I have been having some problems connecting to the internet on my computer of 6 years everything works fine its running windows 7 and I have no problems but now every time I turn my computer on the first application to connect to the internet is the only one that can connect. If I open a browser it connects but nothing else will and if I close it I have to restart in order to get a connection again.
My modem seems to be bad (my thoughts) the twc says it is working perfectly however i do not think so. about 2 weeks ago it stopped working with our router. i have since tried 2 other different routers on it linksys g (the original) linksys b and, Netgear g (brand new never been out of the box) none of these routers would connect to the internet however if i hook directly to the modem internet works fine. Is there a way to tell if this is a problem with the router or the modem.
-Tried to connect to internet, got message "unable to connect to proxy server"
-Decided this proxy stuff isn't worth it, deleted the proxy extension
-Reset router
-Now wireless isn't working on ANY laptop- it shows a connection available but cannot connect to it, however wired connection works (and is how I'm on here right now)Is this as simple as setting up a new wireless connection?
-went under "proxy server" under "LAN settings" in ctrl panel
-The box which stated "use a proxy for LAN" was checked, and the address and port I obtained from hidemyass were underneath
-I unchecked the box, applied the new settings, and reset my router
