I'm trying to sort out someone else's 800 series router config IOS 12.2 that was just added onto for years and never cleaned up. There are about 10 route map statements near the end. As far as I can tell, only two are being used. Doesn't a route map statment have to be called(referenced) in another statement in order to actually be used such as either under an interface or in a nat statement?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got an existing Cisco 1841 connecting to a 10Mbps Internet Leased line. With my current setup I've configured PAT for internet access for my users, and we also have some servers on site which are assigned public ip addresses, these can be accessed from the internet. Now we have procured a Cisco 1921 ISR to replace the old 1841, when I connect the 1921 with an identical configuration in place of the old router, 2 things happen.
1) The users accessing the net via the nat are able to work without any inconvenience (good)
2) My servers which have public IP addresses are unable to reach the internet and subsequently I am unable to reach them via the internet (very bad)
We have a Cisco 1841 router and checked something an unnusual (never seen before) routing table having L - local routes. if this an IOS bug or same as C - connected local routes.

VPN 1841, and static nat. I have to create VPN to connect to remote network, but problem is that they already use same subnet as mine. How to configure static nat on cisco 1841 so static nat will work and address will be translated in different IP when connection trough VPN.I have address 192.168.235.1 and I want to translate to 192.168.100.1,This 1841 is border router, and all VLNAs and VLANs routing is on 3650.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 1841 with a DSL and 3G HWIC interface. I would like to setup the DSL as the primary link and then use the 3G as a backup interface. I am trying to accomplish this using the Floating Static routes with SLA object tracking.
I have tried various options, like having two tracked routes, one tracked route, changing administrative distances, multiple SLA's, etc etc.
My problem basically is that when the DSL (Dialer0) goes down and the 3G (Cellular0/1/0) takes over, that the SLA never changes back when the DSL is available again, so that the DSL can take over as the primary link again. [code]
I used the GRE tunnel site to site VPN with 2 cisco 1841 routers. Behind one of the router R1, I used cisco ASA 5510, now my vpn is connect between two routers, but from R2 other site cannot access to LAN behind the firewall. From R1, also cannot route to local network, from local network can access to R1, I think cause of NAT . So how to configure to route internal network from R1 & R2 with VPN.

This two interfaces are in the global route table because there is no vrf indication. These are for internet access (a simple adsl connection) Then, I have this interface in VRF named "lan123"

Now the issue.If I write:
ip route vrf lan123 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Dialer0
this works and, with nat, internet works. The question is why this works without the "global" keyword? I'm going from the vrf named "lan123" routing table to global table without the using of "global" keyword.
If I try to use:
ip route vrf lan123 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Dialer0 global
there is an error indication.
Basically I have an internet router (1841ISR) with 1 internal (LAN) connection and 2 internet connections. What I want to do is route specific traffic for 3 of my internally hosted services (smtp, https, etc) through one internet connection (fa0/0) and then route all other traffic through the unmanaged/dynamic IP ADSL connection (Dialer 0).

I am trying to create a very basic template in compliance manager that checks for interfaces that aren't members of specific VLANs. VLAN 10 being one of them. I want to match interfaces assigned to VLAN 20. According to the documentation I have read, the following range statement should work because 10 falls between 3 and 19:
Submode: interface [#.*Ethernet.*#]
- switchport access vlan [#[3-19]#]
With the preceeding statement, however, interfaces assigned to both VLAN 10 and VLAN 20 are matching the rule. With this specific rule (not a range), only interfaces w/VLAN 20 are processed by the template, which is expected. We actually have numerous VLANs that we want to exclude/include. I only mentioned VLANs 10 and 20 for brevity.
how to debug an ACL I've created on a 4404 WLC, specifically I want to monitor what packets are being denied by the ACL as something that should be working isn't
I've created an explicit deny statement at the end of the ACL and verified that the counter increases each time I try the problem software update.
What I can't work out is how to get the WLC to tell me what packets are being denied by the explicit deny statement, all I can find are 'show acl' commands which just give me the counts.
The equivalent on a router would be debug ip packet acl and adding the log keyword onto an ACE. I suppose I could configure a SPAN session on the WLC uplink to the switch but that seems overkill?
I am having a problem w/ my PIX501 w/ "Cisco PIX Firewall Version 6.3(4)", upon issuing the command i get this WARNING, is this normal? because it works perfectly fine in version 7.2(2)..

I'm trying to get IPSec VPN working onto a new Cisco ASA5505. Pretty standard configuration.Setup:
* Cisco VPN client on Windows 7 (v5.0.07.0290 x64 on Laptop1 and v5.0.07.0440 x64 on Laptop2)
* PPPoE/NAT and internal DHCP on the ASA were configured with the Startup Wizard in ASDM
NATting is working fine - internal PCs get an IP address in the 192.168.2.0/24 range and can all access the Internet.I wanted to be able to connect from anywhere to the ASA in order to reach one of the internal servers. Should be pretty basic.First I tried with the built-in ASDM IPSec Wizard, instructions found here.VPN clients can connect to the ASA, are connected (until they're manually disconnected), but cannot reach the internal network nor the Internet. Note VPN client can connect fine to a different VPN site (not administered by myself). [code]
Unfortunately I'm getting the same "AddRoute failed to add a route with metric of 0: code 160" error message.I'm very confused as this should be a pretty standard setup. I tried to follow the instructions on the Cisco site to the letter...The only "differences" in my setup are an internal network of 192.168.2.0 (with ASA IP address 192.168.2.254) and PPPoE with DHCP instead of no PPPoE at all.

I'm unable to connect to the internet?My university gave us student permission toset up a cisco lab. I hve an 1841 router and a 2950 catalyst switch in a single room. Fa0/1 is conncted to the switch using a 192.168.3.0 /24 network. DHCP is correctly assaigning ip addresses to the switch.
I connected the Fa0/0 port to the wall and used the following command to obtain an ip on the Fa0/0 port: ip adress dhcp. I used the following route command: ip route dhcp. That didn't work so I used the ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Fa0/0.When I run the sh cdp neighbors command I see a multilayer switch that show me connected to the Ga2/26 port with ip:192.168.179.254.I also see that the default vlan is 200 and the voice vlan is 800.
A linksys router is about to let us access the internet. I am able to ping the 192.168.179.254 address from the 1841 router.What am I missing to connect to the internet.I forgot to mention that I successfully receive an ip from the wall. The latest ip I received was 192.168.179.100 /24.
i have a Layer3 Switch Cisco WS-c3750G -24T , initially i have a IOS version c3750-Ipbase , recentely i have upgraded my IOS to c3750-Ipservices-M to enable to PBR for my network , i have created all the acl and tried to give the route-map with PBR , the command was initiallying but i am not able to see the applied route-map in my policy route , i have gone through the blog and enabled SDM prefer routing , but no luck .

I have an issue where I can get traffic to pass from HDQ to two branch offices over our ipsec/gre tunnels even though the tunnels appear to be UP. The HDQ is a 2811, branch is a home office using an 871W and branch runs a 2801 router. I initially had HDQ working fine with the 871W but when I configured branch2 (2801), they both broke. The tunnels appear to be up but traffic is not routing across them. The two 2801 routers run 12.4 (c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T2.bin). These are gre over ipsec tunnels. Currently traffic flows over an exsting MPLS network that we are getting away from due to cost. As soon as I change the routes to point to the Tunnels, it breaks. Traffic doesn't appear to pass through the tunnel. I have attached my sanitized configs.

When the ADSL goes down the route via the IPSec tunnel remains and i am unable to route the traffic via the APN backup without disabling the VPN tunnel .

We an 887m router in our office with an unmanaged switch. We have two networks, 192.168.0.x and 192.168.11.x connected to router on the same interface (192.168.11.253 is a secondary ip) but I can seem to be able to route packets from one network to the other. Internet traffic is fine from both networks. I can't see what I'm doing wrong here. I can ping the 192.168.11.253 (router) from the 192.168.0 network but nothing beyond that.
I tried this at home with no other config and its the same. Is this by design?
I am using Solawinds syslog and trying to get our Cisco routers send syslogs to our syslog server. I followed the procedure on Configuring Cisco Devices to Use a Syslog Server from [URL] Our Cisco swtches are all sending syslog messages but not the routers. I compared the config with our access switches but can't seem to find the problem:

is there a command that prevents the router from sending the syslog to the server?
I am just setting up a simple scenario with a 1841. Server @ 172.31.1.1 cannot ping 172.31.0.254 or 172.31.0.105. It can ping 172.31.1.250. The router can, on the other hand, ping devices on both networks. This is just for testing routing theory so I don't know why hosts on either side of the network cannot ping each other.
I am only using the FastEthernet interfaces on Router 1841.
I'm trying to configure my BRI interface in "network protocol-emulate network" and "layer1-emulate network" but i don't have this second command.Is someone have allready to that with this type of interface ?I've to configure this because the ISDN line of my telco is in user mode only.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've enabled antispoof on all interfaces on asa 5510.If you start a traceroute to a network on the default route, everything works, since replies comes to an interface with route 0.0.0.0/0 defined.If you start a tracer route to a network that is NOT on the default route (let's assume coporate MPLS), you only get response from first carrier router, the other are discarded because of anti spoof violation.
I have ICMP inspection and icmp-error inspection enabled.
