I have some issues with router configuration. I cannot open any external web pages, but ping or telnet is just fine. Im using router-on-a-stick scenario. Router connected to LAN trough EtherSwitch module. Config attached.
View 8 RepliesI'll be downloading off of newsgroups and be pulling 3-4 MB/sec, no problems. My downloads are charted so I can see my speed never drops at all.but my web browsing will just STOP, for ~30 seconds. I'll have multiple tabs just STOP and crap out, while my downloads run fine. This also happens when I'm not downloading, so I know it's not a bandwidth issue,i assumed it was a router issue until I replaced my router and am getting the same issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedApplications such as skype, teamviewer, etc, are all working fine, however, when I try to load certain webpages, such as Facebook and forum boards, they don't load, just stay white screen.
Youtube, google, both load, I imagine this is because they're both on the Google servers, apart from any Google related sites, I can't find any that will load for me.
I think this is a problem wth my DNS addresses, I've tried a range of solutions, clearing my DNS, changing my IPv4 address, restarting the router, PC, but I can't seem to find a fix.

NOTE: I had the Metropolitan police virus yesterday, I did a system restore to remove it, my internet worked fine after, it's only since I've moved from the router at my other house, to the one here that I'm having problems.
I have a problem with another computer in the household. To get to this forum, I tried to use my son's computer (he is at college and has not used it in a while) and it shows the wireless is connected, if I click on his weatherbug, it comes up with the current temps, time, etc, but if I try to open any browser (ie, ff, or chrome) it will not connect.

Core is cat 6500
Anyconnect client version: 3.1.00495
Configured vpn with a tunneled default route to 172.19.16.1 (Core - cat6500) No split tunnel is configured, everything has to be tunneled and monitored by WCCP in Firewall. Authorization is by Certificate Only.
I can reach inside servers (for example 172.18.254.37) i can reach DMZ server (for example 192.168.138.36) i can surf the internet on regular HTTP (port 80)
but, i cannot surf the internet or DMZ servers using HTTPS (port 443) also, ftp does not work. i have tried to reach external ftp servers who are open to all.
both https and ftp works from the INSIDE network.
I have tried to change the port for Anyconnect, to 444 (for dtls as well) and i can see that all the vpn traffic is going over 444, so 443 should be undisturbed.
but this is not working.. could it be a certificate problem, or am i missing something? NAT/PAT?

I have moved into an apartment with 4 friends of mine. We all own HP 6515b Laptop running Windows 7. We connect to the internet through a wireless router. Our connection's name is LINKSYS and is WEP.Once i have connected to the internet, it will continue to work fine for a while. After some random time, it will disconnect.(The computer stays connected to the wireless modem, but computer shows NO INTERNET CONNECTIVITY (in bottom-right taskbar))Then in 5-6 seconds, it will start working again... The only change that is visible is that the exclamation mark on network disappears. The computer remains connected to router for this whole time. Initially we thought it was a problem of our ISP. But later we found out that at a time not all users face disconnection.So at a particular time, it is possible that only I cannot open webpages.

Now, I do get a dhcp ip on the G0/0 interface and I can ping it from my remote network and the local router as well as the local lan. The hands and eye guy is able to telnet from the local lan but I am unable to telnet from either my remote lan or the local router.The only error I receive is "connection refused by remote host". All lines are clear so I have no conflicts with multiple telnet sessions.
Its been a long road but this is where Im at right now. I have a complete fresh install of XP SP3 on a dell inspiron 9300. I was having this issue and with all the troubleshooting steps taken that did not work, I decided to re-install windowsTurns out the internal NIC does not work (at all it seems), so I have a USB NIC. Itinstalled correctly and detects the network. I can log into our Domain, ping seveal websites (yahoo, assassinarcade.com (my personal website), blogger.com) but IE8/FF will not load the web pages. The NIC has a valid IP address with correct DNS and DHCP IP addresses to their respective servers[CODE]

The computer I have set up as my media server (Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit) is randomly losing network/internet communication. Now, I say communication and not connectivity, because I can still ping it from other computers on my network and I can still ping websites from it (via IP address or name so it doesn't appear to be a DNS problem). But I can't pull up any actual webpages when this problem is going on and none of my media services will connect to the PC. I can't even pull up my routers admin page from the PC while this problem is going on (but I CAN ping the router).

I have small business server 2003 setup as a DC and did not install exchange, i use hosted exchange. i am trying to setup vpn and have opened port 1723 on both of my router. my network routes through a wireless router(192.168.1.1) (port 1723 forwarded to .1.104) to a second wireless router (192.168.2.1) to my server with two nic cards (.2.2 - external and .2.103 - internal) (port 1723 forwarded to .2.2) i can telnet 192.168.2.2 1723, .2.103, .1.104 - my ip of my second router handed by the first router. my server in handling dhcp and it is disabled on my .2 router. I CAN NOT telnet my public ip handed to 1.1 from the ISP(my internet IP). it tries for about 30 secs and dies.

I can only ping and telnet to the active ASA from subnet 172.18.0.0./24 but not the standby But i can ping and telnet to both the active and standby ASAs within the 4500 switches.
I have a Cisco 2960-S Switch, It is connected to a jack in the building to check the settings, Interface VLAN 1 has an ip, there is a default gateway, Any host connected to switch can access the network resources. But the problem is that I have to use Serial Cable to configure it. I cant ping or telnet into it from any other device. PC's are on different subnets/VLANS.
Basically this switch is connected to a port in a different switch, Do i have to make a trunk?
I've been developing Node.js apps on my localhost on port 1337 for last two years with no problem as shown below.

Today I wanted to test how things go with default port 80, so I did:

But after that my network went crazy. Now I can't access any local address including localhost. When I ping to localhost it points to some weird public IP address (218.38.137.125) instead of 127.0.0.1.

I have trunk on both ports of the switch. there are couple of vlans and ports are assigned to those vlans. examples are management, voice and data. int vlan 1 has ip there is default gateway the hosts are able to connect to the internet when connected to the switch.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe got a switch issue here for 4507R-E with two sup6l-e supervisor running sso redudant. and we found that sometimes client can't ping through the local vlan ip add on the switch , can't logon the cli by telnet too. In the direct connected network device such as access switch and ASA , can't ping or telnet the 4507R too. when we made a forceswitch to sso standby supervisor from console , the problem solve and everything get fine . after that, we switch angin back to the origin supervisor , fine too.
before we made the supervisor forceswitch , we had check the system cpu usage is 15 - 20 % from console . also we had creat a new vlan 200, attach the notebook to 4507's vlan 200 port , the notebook can't ping or telnet the vlan 200 ip interface too.
I have a Cisco 800 series ?I need to allow access to our local server from a specific range of external ip addresses.I can open port for all external ip using this command:

But this is not secure as is..Do I then restrict and permit access using access-list? Or is there another way altogether?
The network is set up like this.
Host -----> 3750 (classic) running IPSERVICES stack ----> 3550 router -----> VPN 3005 Concentrator.
IP routing is disabled on the 3750 (it's acting solely as a switch) IP routing is enabled with an EIGRP process running on the 3550 router that has the network for the 3005 broadcasting.
I can ping the vpn 3005 concentrator from a telnet session in the 3550 but not from the 3750.I can ping between the 3750 and the 3550 vlan management interfaces. Visually speaking it's like this
3750 ------> 3550 [Success!!!!]
3550 ------> VPN 3005 Concentrator [Success!!!!]
3750 ------> 3550 --xxxx--> VPN 3005 Concentrator [Timeout....]
I know this because I tracerout to the 3005 from the 3750 and it resolved the default gateway configured for the 3550 properly but then started timing out.
The 3750 is trunked to the 3550.
3750 is vtp client mode
3550 is vtp server mode
I'm wondering if there's a layer 2 issue involved here as it is a VTP domain and maybe it's not returning properly.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a a firewall policy on a Cisco 2911 - the zone policy from OutZone>InZone basically drops everything apart from inspected traffic on the opposite direction and a few essential traffic generated externally (such as Outlook web access and E-mail exchanging). However, I seem to be getting a lot of firewall drops coming from the immediate gateway of the ADSL WAN address to the internal IP range on port 3. I get about 10 hits every 5 seconds.

I cannot ping and end node on my system from my Cisco 2911. I've tried to configure my computer to ping the device and I am able to. It seems the difference between using my computer and the 2911 is that with my computer I am able to set the default gateway as the end node's ip.

I've had some issues with my 892 router. [code] When match address is set to acl-net12, I can't ping my router on external interface and tunnel is working very bad (15%-20% packet loss).If I change match address from acl-net12 to acl-net12-new then I can ping my router on external interface and vpn si working fine.
I have also an acl (set on external interface) which allow ping but it seems that is not working when acl-net12 is used on crypto map. [code]
I have setup a new RV180 and it appears to be connected to the WAN, however, I cannot ping the external IP. In some of the documentation, there are references to default access rules, however, there does not appear to be any rules setup. What other settings need to be made to allow the firewall to be pinged on the WAN interface?
View 1 Replies View Relatedlast week I installed a new router (2911) in my network.We had to create two different VLANs for the new setup to work as wanted.I have a Windows 2008 R2 which is a Domain Controller for Active Directory on the ip address 192.168.0.195.That server (HP DL180 G6) has two NICs. One has the above IP address and the other one has 192.168.0.199.
On the other VLAN, I have a server, running the same OS, that I want to re-join, as it formerly was, the AD on the first server (192.168.0.195). This server has the new IP address 192.168.10.194.All these are connected to a Cisco switch SG 200-50 Gigabit Smart Switch. That one is connected to a Cisco 2911 router.
The problem is that, once the old 192.168.0.194 got to be 192.168.10.194, the 192.168.0.195 can't ping it anymore... At least not all the time... Sometime it works, sometimes not... Neither can't the 10.194 ping the 0.195 all the time. When one way works the other one doesn't... When one pings the other one successfully, the other one can't...
I have spent two days on the phone with virgin mobile broadband where I bought the device and they do not know what I am talking about.First of all the mifi is working fine on the one and only computer I have set up so for..it is Vista operating system..I am trying to set up my vista computer as an FTP server on the mifi or wifi or whatever you call it.when I disable the DHCP service on this virgin mobile mifi device so that I can generate my own internal ip for this particular computer..It is not functioning that is I cannot connect to the internet..I tried to get from Virginmobile the DNS server address but they were confused...When I log into the device itself under advanced options it does allow for me to disable DHCP..but my problem is what IP do I use when setting up the wireless connections, I disengaged the automatic, but I am having a heck of a time trying to use the right IP then the gateway address and the DNS.

I have my Cisco router's fast Ethernet port connected to a small net gear router which then connects to my cable modem. The Cisco router is able to ping local address fine, but when I try to ping an outside address or domain name it times out. However, when I am at the CLI and type something like Ping { URL}, it resolves Google's IP address but it will not ping it. I have IP DEFAULT-GATEWAY and IP NAME-SERVER both pointing to my net gear router and pointing to my ISP's DNS server.
