Cisco WAN :: 3845 Won't Save Configuration?
Dec 13, 2011
I have a 3845 that I am trying to configure but it won't save. It doesn't matter what i do (write mem, copy run start). No matter what, if I reload it, it wipes the config. Am I missing something, or is it just a bad memory? I don't get any errors when I save, it looks like it takes, but no dice.

I have a 3750 stack of 4 switches that was installed about 2 years ago. Recently I was doing some work on the switch and realized that I am unable to save the config. I amobviously concerned that if the power fails or the switch reboots I will be reconfiguring it and that is not something I am interested in doing!
Here is the error that I am receiving:
switch#copy run startup-config
Destination filename [startup-config]?
Building configuration.

For some reasons, my internet connection keeps dropping more often recently. My laptop still says it is connected to my network but I can just not have internet connection. It was not like that before but it happened more frequently now. What I did was to power off then on the modem and the router and everything will work fine again. I want to upgrade my firmware but I just wonder if I need to save all the configuration before doing the upgrading? If so, then how can I set it back to the old configuration that was saved?

How do I save/copy all of the router configuration entries onto a memory/flash usb drive? I did not configure the router myself (out of town when purchased). I have already downloaded the manual for that router and I want to understand exactly what she (person who configured router) did and identify any mistakes she might have made. Once downloaded, I assume I can print out all configuration settings.

I have a 50 Mbps metro ethernet connection between our main office, and our collocation site, where we store web servers, DR equipment and VPN access gateways. I have two Cisco 3845 ISR's connected to the metro E circuit. The interfaces on each router are configured as 100/full as requested by my ISP. We are connected via ethernet to a fiber media converter.
As I understand, CBFWQ will not kick in until congestion occurs on an interface. I also understand that the bandwidth command on an interface is to provide bandwidth related information to upper level protocols (like EIGRP, etc).
My question is that since the interface where I have CBWFQ configured on is at 100 Mbps, but my circuit is at 50Mbps, how can I get my routers to kick CBWFQ in when traffic demand exceeds 50Mbps+? Does the bandwidth command on the interface control that as well?

Recently I came across a router (Cisco 3845, IOS 12.4) configured for TACACS, one local username and an enable password. Going through the configuration I noticed the router didn't have an enable secret password which I thought was strange. The TACACS config is below, comments regarding the TACACS config and the consequences of not having an enable secret or if there is a need for one.

Is there any physical or technical diferrences between PWR-3845 AC/2 and PWR-3845 AC? We are trying to order replacement parts and wondering if PWR-3845 AC is for one power supply and AC/2 means you get two with one order?

I have users that are unable to save their changes to topology maps - when devices are moved in a map and the map is exited, the next time the user goes into the map it is back at the default layout. The unusual part is that this does not affect all users - I have two users with the same CiscoWorks rights, but only one can save map changes. The admin user is one that can't save map changes. I'm running LMS 2.2 on Solaris 2.8. The problem existed before and after I upgraded to Campus Manager IDU 11, and stopping and starting services hasn't worked.

I have installed LMS 3.2 on a Win Server 2008, with 160 GB HDD. But it seems that it is running out of space after some times.So actually we managed to add another server, with a HDD of 500 GB capacity, and maped this HDD as a network drive.Now my question is: is it possible to enable LMS to automatically save all syslogs and collected data from the actual 160 GB HDD, to the new one 500 GB HDD?

Everytime I start one of my two Windows machines, I need to go to the control panel network adapter and enter the static IP address in the IPV4 properties. It is always blank after a shutdown.I have two machines that are networked for flight simming.One of the machines must have a static IP so I configured both static. Not sure if this has anything to do with my problem.
