I only have access to 1 pc and 1 router/switch.I know how to make the pc a tftp server with a tftp server program, which i can then upload my router config to.I now do not have access to that tftp program anymore and am trying to find another way to save the router config(not to nvram on the actual router but to my local pc).I have heard of peopel doing it with putty saving the log onto a file but how would you load that log??

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 3750 stack of 4 switches that was installed about 2 years ago. Recently I was doing some work on the switch and realized that I am unable to save the config. I amobviously concerned that if the power fails or the switch reboots I will be reconfiguring it and that is not something I am interested in doing!
Here is the error that I am receiving:

Right now I have it connected like this: Internet-> SURFboard SB6120 Modem -> DGL-4100 Router (modem in the WAN port, 3 internet connections plus the switch in the LAN ports) -> DGS-1008G Switch (2 other internet connections connected to this, as well as an Xbox 360).The problem is that everything connecting to the router works, and nothing works on the switch even though the power light is on (however, the port on the router that is receiving the switch is not lit up). I'm guessing this is because the router only assigns as many IP addresses as it has ports or something.

I've had a Linksys WRT54GS running DD-WRT (build 14929) for a while. I recently bought another Linksys (Cisco) router (WRT160NL) and installed DD-WRT on it (build 16785).
I'd like to keep the WRT54GS as my main router since it is very stable and use the WRT160NL as a network switch, NAS device, and asterisk server. I already have samba installed, configured, and running fine on the 160. However, the 160 is running as a router so only devices connected to it can access network shares.
How can I configure the 160 so that all devices in my network can access its network shares?

why I can't save any router settings? I get a momentary disconnect followed by a brief redirect message and then I get kicked back to the router log on page.

I have successfully connected to my ISP with the 3G USB dongle.But it seems like the PIN code is not saved. I have to enter it after a reboot of the router.
I have a new wireless router which I have hooked up successfully to 3 computers , a playstation, and a WII on a secure network. My fourth computer refuses to save the new key. Ii keeps defaulting to an 8 digit number. It shows the secure network on availiable networks but won't accept the WPA key.

It was not like that before but it happened more frequently now. What I did was to power off then on the modem and the router and everything will work fine again. I want to upgrade my firmware but I just wonder if I need to save all the configuration before doing the upgrading? If so, then how can I set it back to the old configuration that was saved?

But the it goes back to the port forwarding page and all the stuff is at default again as if I didn't make any changes. What the hell is this?
I'm sure it's just a little something I don't know about that's making it not save any changes to port forwarding.
I have a problem when trying to configure my wrt320n , I put in the exact same config. as I had with my wrt54g, and I do mean the exact same, even the name and all, but when I try to save the config on Advance Routing I get the message "Invalid static route", I think it's a bug

My router is actually communicating with my computer (physically plugged in), since I can save all other settings EXCEPT the port-fowarding ones.I am trying to save settings for a gaming application in the Single Port Forwarding section of my router settings. After clicking both ''save settings'' and ''continue'', it simply returns to the Single Port Forwarding section, except everything is blank, as though nothing was saved.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a BEFSR41 ver 4.3 and I upgraded my firmware to 2.00.4.8 from within the router. Had a problem with the flashing power light. Resolved the issue after reading another post on this forum using the TFTP utility. Now, however, if I go into either Port Forwarding or Port Triggering and change anything, there is no Save Changes button to click on in either page. They are missing. If I click away, or close the browser and come back, all changes I made are lost. I have tried reloading the firmware at least four times. I've powered off, pressed the reset button and any combination of these that you can reasonably think of. The buttons are gone! I have tried accessing the router from both IE and Firefox, accessing the router from all the machines on my network, to no avail. Everything was working fine before the upgrade, of course. The router does not have the option to save the old firmware before any upgrades are made. The original firmware has been overwritten so I can't go back to it.

I'm trying to configure a 2940 switch to trunk. I just can't get it to work.On the interface I have added: switchport mode trunk The default is encap for this switch is dot1q, so there is no need, or ability to add/change the encap mode. Also all vlans are being allowed by default. I still can't get any port to trunk. Need to get G0/1 to trunk, have also tried to trunk f0/6 to the switch in my office. Also can't find the command to change the management VLAN. I do not use vlan 1 for management. Can I change the Mang VLAN on this switch?
