I have already downloaded the manual for that router and I want to understand exactly what she (person who configured router) did and identify any mistakes she might have made. With IOS, I would normally use a pipe command to redirect to tftp, but the ASA doesn't support this as far as I can tell. As a work around I was thinking I could save the output to flash and then tftp that file off the ASA.
I deleted the flash from an ASA5510. I was able to tftp a version back into the device, but cannot seem to correctly have the box boot from this flash. I get the following error:

I have tried every save syntax i can think of to save this flash, but have yet to have it boot with an image ( I keep booting into ROMMON and have to tftp the image back in)
I have this 2801 in a critical environment. We had a brief power blip, and even though the router is on UPS, something happened. Anyway, after working with TAC, they determined the flash card had gone corrupt. Lucky for me I had a spare 2801 in my office, I grabbed that flash card and plugged it in and we're back up and going.
TAC sent me a new flash card. No matter what I do, I cannot get IOS to load on this thing! I am stuck in rommon. Here's what I've tried:
tftpdnld in rommon, times out. using another 2801 as a tftp-server. doesn't complete. using xmodem. ugh. never seems to get started. booting the router with a known good flash card, so I can get to ena, and "copy tftp flash".
have used tftpd32, Solar Winds TFTP server, What's Up Gold TFTP server, and open source tftp from sourceforge. With the tftp32, it always gets to exactly 73% download and then times out (it says, I have a feeling it's noty really a timeout). I have tried having the router and tftp server the only devices on a switch, i have tried the router plugged directly into the tftp server with a cross connect cable. No happiness. The open source tftp server reported (and I have to paraphrase, I am not near the router) "client does not support block number recount" or something like that. The client being the 2801.
The iOS file is about 45M. Someone asked me if the flash card was formatted...would that matter? would the tftp even start if it wasn't?
OK, I've gone on long enough. TAC is dispatching a new card AND 2801!
Recently purchased an EA4500 router and it is connected to the Internet. One of the reasons we purchased this router was to take advantage of the usb port (only 2.0 unfortunately) to be able to share media across the network. I spent over two hours on the phone (4/16/2012) with Linksys Tech support trying to get this feature to work. When using a little flashdrive I can easily find the connected usb device. However, when trying to connect to an external hard drive, it will not connect. I tried three different external hard drives, a Western Digital 500 GB Elements drive, a Western Digital 2 TB My Book Elements drive and even a portable 1.5 TB Seagate FreeAgent drive. Every drive had the same result. In fact after plugging each one into the EA4500 and then selecting Safely Eject and then plugging them into my computer, each one had to go through the Fix process in order to work again. I tried this several times. Linksys Tech Support could not get it to work either, and they even used remote access. When going into the web interface of the EA4500, the router sees the external drives attached to it. However, only the little 16GB flash drive can be seen by the computer. I know there is a list for approved devices that work with a different device, the E4200 [URL]
It looks like my devices are there but nonetheless its not working. Really not sure why the router can see all of the devices but only the computer can see the flash drive.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to enter a name that included an illegal character (in this case, a single quote), and it gave me the popup box that said I had done so. When the popup closed, my DHCP reservation table was emptied out (I had maybe 5-6 reserved clients). In fact, I can't add new reservations anymore at all from this screen as it lists nothing in the DHCP clients table at the top. (Note, there are plenty of things in the DHCP Clients table over on the Status->Local Network tab). At this point, I think that my pre-existing reservations are still being held, but I'm not sure as it's only been about an hour so nothing has renewed.
I had firmware 1.0.05 when I encountered this problem. I upgraded to 1.0.07 as a means of trying to kick it into action, but the problem still exists.
I just got an EA3500 and I guess I don't understand what "Refresh" does when viewing the DHCP client table under the "Status", "Local Network" tab of the web interface, either that or it's not working. If I have active wired and wireless clients and I power off the EA3500, wait a few minutes, then power it back on, the table is blank. If I hit "Refresh" I would expect it to re-populate the table with the connected clients. For whatever reason, it doesn't. I have to physically disconnect and reconnect the E-net cable, or power cycle the wireless client to get them to reappear in the table. Is something wrong with the router or its s/w

If I can't access the internet I will check the DHCP client table under Status -> Local Network -> DHCP Client Table and it is always empty.After I select Setup -> Reboot it will work again - when I look at the DHCP client table it is now populated with all my devices. I am on firmware version 2.0.37.

I just purchased an E4200 router. I have four clients on my network and they are all set up for DHCP. I renewed their IPs and they all are connected. "Cisco Connect" reports that I have four clients connected. When I access the router and bring up the DHCP Client Table, there are no entries. There should be four entries. Aftern I enable the logging function, none of the logs have any data in them even after I wait for 45 minutes and use the internet and renew IPs. I am using Firmware Version: 1.0.03. I have the same results for both Chrome and Firefox. I want to be able to set Static IPs but I am hampered by the not having any clients in the DHCP client table.

When a device does not pass a client name garbage is entered as the name of the client name.The first is that when you use the Web Admin pages, and select Status/Local Network/DHCP Clients, the table will not display any clients because there is an error on the page. If you right click and View Source from the browser, you will see all the client entries are there and one of them will have garbage (unprintable characters) for the client name.The second and more serious issue is that the internal DHCP table once corrupt is unstable. I've had my BEFSR41 reboot because of the corruption and then I get IP conflicts on my LAN because the DHCP starts handing out in-use IPs.I'm on hardware version 4.3 and the latest firmware Ver.2.00.4 Build 8 (which is very difficult to install without bricking the router). BTW, when I use a WRT54GL router with the smartphone, it is properly handled by the DHCP and shows a blank client name, not garbage.

In the DHCP table for my E4200 I don't see those. I have no problem accessing them typing in those IP addresses but wondering why they don't show up in the table.Actually looking at it more closely, the devices hooked up that are active seem to show up.So I see the following below. I have enabled DHCP but want to set static table IP's for my security camera DVR and one computer, the others can remain dynamic. I know in other routers I can attach a LAN IP to a mac address to keep it static but I can't see where I can do that with this router.

I upgraded to firmware version 1.0.03 I started to have this weird issue: I have four PCs connected to this wireless router via wireless G. They all run Windows 7 Home Premium. After a few hours I started to notice that the DHCP client table is empty even if all four PCs are connected to the internet. This causes a networking problem because one of the PC serves as a file server and it grants access by IP addresses. Not being able to "see" those computers, my access is denied.

I have a 2801 with dual ISP connections, and I have configured route-maps to direct voice traffic over ISP1 (working just fine), and I'm attempting send all other traffic over ISP2 (traffic is load-balancing instead). My BEFSR81 is my primary router and has DHCP turned on. The router's DHCP range is set to accommodate 12 devices. I have three computers wired to it and their Host names (as specified in the set-up of each computer) show up in the router's DHCP device table. I also have two printers (one old Brother HL5250DN laser printer and one new HP Photosmart Premier C410a inkjet printer) connected and there are blanks where the Host name should go. I would like to be able to tell which printer is which when I am looking at the DHCP device table. How can I get a names associated with each printer's IP address in the router's DHCP device table? (The real problem is that the router seems to have both printers at the same IP address (192.168.1.100) and if I can get one of them to change I'd like to know which one it was!)

3. Go to "Multiple VLAN subnets", select the VLAN, click edit
4. Enter following info:

Expected result: RV220W shall save the setting and make use of 172.16.0.0 subnet in IP pool. By the way, the error message "IP Address Range -" seems incompleteI tried same setting on netgear FVS318N (very similar settings to RV220W), it accepts 172.16.0.0/16 as DHCP IP pool and works.RV220W has great feature set meets my needs. I am desperate to make some kind of translation which convert an outside IP Address of our web server to its inside ip address so that requests can be routed internally to the server.
This is what we have: A wireless network with an SSID to serve visitors. We also have an in-house web server which can be accessed internally and externally. We have a ASA 5520 that protects the internal network, including the Web server, and also routes all traffic from the all visitors connected to the public SSID to the outside. The DHCP server for the wireless network for visitors is configured to give the 8.8.8.8 as dns server. The problem with that is that the www.ourwebserver.com is resolved by Google's dns server to the public IP Address of our web server! The traffic then is sent to the outside interface of the ASA 5520. The visitor who wants to access our web server cannot connect!
How can I configure the ASA to route that traffic to our web server with the public ip address to the inside ip address of the web server?
