I have a Cisco C3560G-24TS Switch that has twice now just shut down and the only way to get it back to life is to pull the power and let it boot back up again.
Are there any logs I can check for poss clues as to why this is happening or any other things I can try?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a WS-C3560G-24PS service as a distribution switch with six (6) WS-C2950T-24 connected to it. In looking at the utilization on the inter connect links no one is running close to a gig speed and this includes the link between this switch and the core. The CPU load (6%) and memory utilization (30%) on the switch do not seem bad so what else does one watch to see if it needs an upgrade?
We are starting tohave discussions about any needed upgrades on the network. I have an ocassional user that complaines about low performance but looking through the network I can find nothing glaring on a consistent basis that says an upgrade is warranted. I am however looking at things such as the above. Utilization on links, CPU, memory, etc.

I have a got a requirement where a 24 Port Switch should have 4 SFP's and all 4 should be used at a time, So I've chosen " WS-C2960S-24TS-L"
The transeiver should be GLC-LH-SM, so kindly let me no whether I would be able to use all 4 ports at a time or not.
Is there a way I can downgrade the firmware on a C3750 v2 switch 24TS-S v07 to 12.2(35) SE5. I have added this new switch to an existing stack but the FW is not compatable. I believe the answer is to upgrade the rest but I cannot afford any down time as they are used to run a CCTV securiy network 24/7. I have included details below to assist with my problem. Switch 4 is the one with a version miss match.

I am confused about some things regarding the different IOS versions and their compatibility with certain switch hardware. I understand the differences between the IPBASE and IPSERVICES ios but am not quite clear as to how you can tell which ios images will work on which Cisco switch model platforms, other than the fact that some switches are designed only to run the IPBASE images and others have advanced hardware to run the advanced images. For instance, if I have a 3750-24TS-E with an IPBASE ios on it, can I load an IPSERVICES ios that came from say a 3750G-24TS-E1U? whether the ios on one platform can be transferred to another?

WAN link plugs into a 2821 Router with an switch module in it. About 8 clients are plugged in to the 2821.2821 connects to super cheap netgear switch (I'm 99% sure it's stripping dot1q headers) via one of the ports in the switch module. About 4 people are connected to the netgear.Now, I sent a catalyst 3560g to the branch because they wanted to extend into a new building. Someone decided to run a single cable from the netgear to the 3560. On the 3560, I have about 5 clients and a couple of APs.
So it goes 2821 -> Netgear -> 3560. All of these are single connections.When the 3560 gets plugged in, all clients on the netgear lose their connection, and nothing on the 3560 works. It happens almost instantly. I can't figure out why connections are dropping. The APs have about 4 VLANs onn them, and the PCs are on their own VLAN (the native VLAN).

View 0 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco Calayst C3560G core switch with 4 x SGE2010P Switches which are invidually linked/trunked via 2x CAT6 Cables for each SGE switch so im not stacking them. First problem is i cant seem to trunk/bond the 2 cables to the SGE LAGs i created, I can only use 1 cable per SGE switch. Yes the Core switch is configured correctly and have the proper Port Channel config (below is an example of a config) how do i get this working!?
I run POE Voip phones and PC's of 1 cable that is vlan'd on the phones, so each port on the SGE's are trunk'd

The other issue and more troublesome is that I have random reboots on all of the SGE's the LOGs tell me nothing! I cant seem to figure it out even had the units swapped out! Jumbo Frames are enabled but still happens even if disabled. Got some STP/RSTP settings but nothing works.

The command "track number rtr" is missing. There are just three options there:

I recently removed a catalyst 2950 switch code version: c2950-i6q4l2-mz.121-13.EA1 ?I had an ASA 5505 connected as a switchport access to the 2950 on port 44. We will call the VLAN that the ASA sits on: VLAN 404. The 2950 had a trunk to our catalyst 6509 distribution switch carrying that VLAN 404. We also have a another VLAN for computers that sits on: VLAN 129, this is a standard DHCP vlan and it accounted for the rest of the switchports. The 2950 also has this trunked to our 6509 distribution switch.
Everything was working fine with that setup.After replacing the 2950 with a 3560 we started running into problems. The 3560 was configured the same exact way as the 2950. What was happening is that computers that sat on VLAN 129 started experiencing packet loss and were unable to work. It's as though the ASA was taking over the switch.
Is there a protocol that is enabled by defult on the 3560 that would do this?
I tried to configure policy-map under Cisco Catalyst WS-C3560V2-24TS(c3560-ipservicesk9-mz.122-50.SE5.bin).
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy customer uses WS-C3560G-48TS-E switches in air traffic control systems. A requirement for one project is that the entire system be up and running in under five minutes. The WS-C3560G-48TS-E and its replacement - WS-C3560X-48T-E with C3KX-NM-1G - take about four minutes to start up. With other devices added in they exceed their required startup time.They also use WS-C3560V2-48TS-E switches which take about two minutes to start up but they want they GE.
1) Is there way to improve the start up time in the WS-C3560G-48TS-E and WS-C3560X-48T-E switches?
2) Is there another Catalyst switch with similar specifications to WS-C3560G-48TS-E and WS-C3560X-48T-E that has a quicker start up time.
I've got two two 3560s switchs, (WS-C3560G-48TS-S) that I'm trying to connect to each other using the GB ports over Fibre. We purchased the following GBICs, SFP 1000SX Transceiver and when we put them in the port it shows (err-disabled). Below is some information I pulled from one of the ports, but doesn't matter what port I use they all say the same thing.

Just spoke to the TAC and didn't get the information needed. When configuring ip dhcp snooping database I am adding this to my configuration:ip dhcp snooping database scp://dhcpsec@192.168.1.50/home/dhcpsec/switch1.dhcp.database.txt..I assumed that to do this I would either specify the password on the command line, similar to the way its done when using ftp/http, or that I would need to create a public/private key.I have enabled scp and can manually copy a file from the switch to the linux server. Whenever raw power supply gets fluctuates few of the IP phones (Alcatel) gets reset although switch is remain up and running. View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have 2 x C6506E and 2 x C3560-48's, they are all interconnected via port channels at 2Gb per channel. The 6506's are running CEF but the 3560's are not (The 3560's carry all our server traffic).When I do a show CEF on the 3560's it says %IPv4 CEF not running. There does not appear to be a global command to enable CEF on these switches.Is this an IOS version option or is not supported on the hardware platform?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have several remotes sites connected to "home" with Cisco 891 routers at each remote site."Home" actually consites of two different data center sites, each with a Cisco 3845 router terminating the IPSec tunnels there. One home site provides VOIP phone service, the 2nd home site provides PC Data.Each 891 router has two IPSec over GRE tunnels configured, one tunnel goes to the VOIP home site's 3845 router, the 2nd tunnel goes to the DATA home site's 3945 router.All of my pre-existing 891 routers are still running IOS 12.4(22)YB5, and are working fine.My newest 891 router, purchased recently for a new remote site, shipped with IOS ver 15.0(1)M4, and when I have both tunnels configured similarly to the others, both tunnels come up and everything seems to work fine, but if I disable the VOIP tunnel with the "shutdown" command on the tunnel interface for VOIP, then the data tunnel will not come up at all, with full verbose crypto logging turned on, I never even see an attempt to bring the data tunnel up, and when I issue a "no shut" on the VOIP tunnel, both tunnels come right up. This behavior is not seen on the original 891 routers still running 12.4. I can shutdown the VOIP tunnel and the DATA tunnel will come up, stay up just fine.I really do not need the VOIP tunnel at this new remote site for the immediate future, but would like to keep the configs in place for the future, and also to keep all my 891s configured identically (different ip numbers of course) for consistancy's sake and easy of management.Do I need to install 12.4 on this 891? I'd rather keep the IOS on it that it shipped with.

I have downloaded c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.150-1.SE2.bin and I want to upgrade iOS to this image.
I have a few questions related to this:
1. Is my switch model compatible with this iOS version?
2. Do you recommend the upgrade? Does it bring some notable features?
3. Can I upgrade for free or do I need to buy some license?
4. I also want to upgrade/add the crypto image, can I add crypto for free or some license is required?
5. I have remote access to my switch via the console cable which plugged into machine1. But machine1 is connected to network via the same switch. I am accessing machine1 via SSH, and then the switch via console cable (minicom on CentOS). Is there an upgrade procedure for this kind of situation that also has some fall back (like reboot in X minutes and load the previous image) if the upgrade goes wrong?
This has been going on for a few months now, but I'm just finally getting around to finding out the issue. So basically, this is what's happening; I'm randomly browsing some pages just fine, then I try to go to another page, and I can't load the page. I try to open a new page after that, it won't load. My internet still says it's at full bar internet access. I can somehow still use pages that are open (Such as a chat program, I can still chat in there, but I can't load any pages) for as long as a few hours after the internet supposedly shuts off. Everybody else in my household doesn't, and hasn't ever had this problem before, so I seriously doubt it's the modem. I've tried moving my laptop into those places to see if it's a problem with reception in the area I'm at, though it doesn't. The only thing that will turn the internet back on again, is a computer restart. After a fresh restart, the internet will last anywhere between 4 hours to a couple of days before doing that.?

My only problem is that it suddenly shuts down whenever my internet disconnects at random. i am totally clueless of what's happening with my machine. it worries me a lot for I think improper pc shut downs may cause damage to the hard drive. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been experimenting with the 'vlan dot1q tag native' command on a switch and it seems as though tagging the native vlan breaks vty access to my access point.With the 'vlan dot1q tag native' commnand applied, I lose management connectivity to the AP with 'no vlan dot1q tag native' applied, connectivity is restored. Why is this? Is it safe to say that one can access the AP via vty lines using ONLY untagged packets?

I converted a Cisco Aironet 1142 Lightweight access point to Autonomous and at first it works properly but every some days the dot11Radio0 interface is down (similar case than the cisco support community case "Autonomous 1142 AP shuts down 2.4 radio interface" The 802.11g radio shows as “Dot11Radio0 is reset, line protocol is down” while the 802.11a radio appears to be up and running, I have to reload the device so that the Dot11Radio0 is up again.
