Cisco WAN :: Compare WS-c2960s-24TS-s With PowerConnect 6224?
Feb 2, 2012I need to compare a cisco ws-c2960s-24TS-s with a PowerConnect 6224, the scenario is to interconnect SAN ISCSI to 1G in RJ45.

View 1 RepliesI have just purchased Dell PowerConnect 6224? how can i create two VLANs (vlan 10 - 192.168.10.x/24 & vlan 20 - 192.168.20.x/24) that can communicate with each other without setting servers/workstation network gateway point to the vlan ip address?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am facing the following issue. In our environment we have a couple of WS-C2960S-24TS-L configured as stack. These switches are configured as VTP mode transparent. We are running LMS 4.1 and although UserTracking Acquisition works fine for all other switches, it only runs on demand for the above. The user tracking report for these switches shows only the MAC of the connected end hosts, without the respective IP address. The vlan I am interested in is configured on both the gateway (cisco 6509) and the switches, and the subnet is routable.Show arp on the gateway does show the "mac-ip address" binding, so I would have thought that usertracking would have been able to report both IP and MAC.
Why does usertracking only run on demand for the above switches in vtp mode transparent? Why does the UserTracking report show only the MAC and not the IP?Are the above issues related to the vtp mode? I have ruled out any connection to the switch-model, because we have recently installed the same switches in VTP mode client and User Tracking Acquisition works fine for them.
We have two switches WS-C2960S-24TS-L running in stack with running IOS c2960s-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE3.We have connected two checkpoint devices on Gi1/0/24 and Gi2/0/24 with a simple configuration:
interface range GigabitEthernet1/0/24, gi2/0/24
switchport access vlan x
switchport mode access
spanning-tree portfast
On the devices log we get the following message:
%SW_MATM-4-MACFLAP_NOTIF: Host 0000.0000.fe21 in vlan x is flapping between port Gi2/0/24 and port Gi1/0/24
The mac-address 0000.0000.fe21 is not found on any checkpoint interface. "Show mac-address int gi1/0/24 or gi2/0/24" does not show the correct mac-address of the checkpoint interface connected to the port, but instead shows 0000.0000.fe21.Is there a bug in the IOS, something wrong with the switch config or does it have something to do with the checkpoint config?
I have a got a requirement where a 24 Port Switch should have 4 SFP's and all 4 should be used at a time, So I've chosen " WS-C2960S-24TS-L"
The transeiver should be GLC-LH-SM, so kindly let me no whether I would be able to use all 4 ports at a time or not.
I just received three WS-C2960S-24TS-Land three WS-C3560E-48TD-S switches that i entered the Express Setup on as usual. On two of each type of switch i found the default network that is used to facilitate the Express Setup was 10.0.1.1 and the others used an IP range of 10.0.2.1, i realized this is a small negligible at best difference though i need to provide management with an answer as to why there is a difference between the two and can’t find anything online as to why there is a difference or something that proves there should be a difference. All the documentation I find sounding Express Setup notes that the IP range will be 10.0.1.1 not 10.0.2.1

I have a Dell PowerConnect 5448 and i had a separate VLAN setup for my iSCSI traffic. Now yesterday I was going to add a few more ports to this VLAN but when i went into the switch the VLAN was gone. I know it was configured and saved because a few weeks ago when I set it up, I went into the switch several times to adjust stuff. For some reason when it lost power it may have reverted back to default settings.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI managed on my own to figure out how to Telnet in, activate the web control panel, and then access that via the web. Now here is what I am trying to do, it is not that complicated. We have a FIOS connection with 5 IPS: FIOS comes in as Ethernet, without DHCP.
What I want to Assign to Ports on the Switch:
1) Uplink to FIOS
2) VOIP PBX
3) Point of Sale System
4) Internal Network
5) Public Wifi
6-8: Not in use
Each of the above 2-5 will have a router connected to the switch port, each is a separate segregated network, with its Own public IP.
I want to configure the switch to prioritize traffic in the following manner:
Port 2: VOIP: Always gets TOP priority, then Port 3: PoS (but not that important), then port 4: internal (less important), then port 5: public wifi (least important).
I recently purchased a used 2716, and I just can't seem to access the web interface.i have a Cat5e cable running from my router to Port 1 of the switch. I have my laptop connected to Port 16 via a Cat6 cable.
I have internet access both on managed and unmanaged modes, so that's working just fine. I can't seem to access the web interface however. I've tried both IE9 and FF4.
I followed the instructions to hold down the "Managed Mode" button for 30 seconds, and then wait for the switch to reboot. I've done this a few times just to be sure. This should reset it, but when I try to access 192.168.2.1, it just tells me it cannot access this page.
I just purchased a SG300-10 switch and loaded the newest 1.27 firmware on it. Setup my VLANS and trunks but I have this weird issue. My setup:
I have the SG300-10 as my main switch and changed it over to L3 so it can be my main core in my small network. On port 1, vlan 200 is setup as my native PVID untagged and I have it set to trunk vlan's 210(LAN network), 220 (management vlan) tagged over to a Dell powerconnect 5224 24port switch. On port 1 of the Dell switch, I have it setup as a trunk there as well with the same setup (native PVID vlan set to 200 untagged, trunking 210 and 220 tagged).
I have a power conncet 6224 with routing enabled with several VLANs setup.VLAN Database: 6,8,10,90-254VLAN 6 is our management vlan10 is for our core network services (DNS, Domain, Exchange etc)90-254 are isolated vlans. What I need to accomplish is to prevent vlans 90-254 from communicating with each other and only allow communication to VLAN 10 and the internet. All internet firewall work will be handled by our Sonicwall. [code]
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have no previous Cisco switch experience. I just received a brand new SG200-08 switch. It replaces a small blue Trendnet 5 port switch. I configured the SG200-08 with a static IP address which is on the same subnet as all our wired devices, then I installed it and connected a computer and printer and another switch to it. The other switch is a Dell PowerConnect 2716. I suddenly have no network connectivity with the router any longer. When I plug the network cable that runs from the PowerConnect 2716 into the SG200-08, the link status light will not go on for that port. I am going to be replacing the Dell PowerConnect with a Cisco switch as well, the SG300-10.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a RV082 router that is currently in prod. I have a Dell Powerconnect 5424 switch that I'd like to use in place of the unmanaged switches I am currently using.
I have the switch configured with it's IP, subnet, gateway, etc. I can plug devices into it and communicate with no problems. However, when I attempt to plug in the router, nothign will communicate to or from the switch. The devices I plugged in will not talk to each outer, ping the switch, or the router. Also cannot ping to the switch from a device plugged into the router. If I unplug the router, comm opens back up.
I'm configuring a 2 PowerConnect in stack mode. I can't seem to resolve this error - Recieved Frame Check Sequence Errors. Both stacks are in the lastest firmware version 3.3.4.1. Physical connections are tight.

My Draytek 2710 just dies after 2 years so I was looking for something a little more reliable and noticed the spec of the SRP527W-U.I take it with only one antenna and reading a couple of past discussions, the wireless will only manage n-lite as some people call it i.e. 150Mbps, and not the full 300? Oh, and are the ports still only 100M and not Gig?I know the 547 would tick both these boxes but we are talking twice the price. How does the quality and logevity of the SRP500 series compare to the RV series (which would need an adsl modem) or the Linksys boxes?

I have downloaded c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.150-1.SE2.bin and I want to upgrade iOS to this image.
I have a few questions related to this:
1. Is my switch model compatible with this iOS version?
2. Do you recommend the upgrade? Does it bring some notable features?
3. Can I upgrade for free or do I need to buy some license?
4. I also want to upgrade/add the crypto image, can I add crypto for free or some license is required?
5. I have remote access to my switch via the console cable which plugged into machine1. But machine1 is connected to network via the same switch. I am accessing machine1 via SSH, and then the switch via console cable (minicom on CentOS). Is there an upgrade procedure for this kind of situation that also has some fall back (like reboot in X minutes and load the previous image) if the upgrade goes wrong?
