Dell :: Setting Up Port QoS On Powerconnect 2808
Nov 16, 2010
I managed on my own to figure out how to Telnet in, activate the web control panel, and then access that via the web. Now here is what I am trying to do, it is not that complicated. We have a FIOS connection with 5 IPS: FIOS comes in as Ethernet, without DHCP.
What I want to Assign to Ports on the Switch:
1) Uplink to FIOS
2) VOIP PBX
3) Point of Sale System
4) Internal Network
5) Public Wifi
6-8: Not in use
Each of the above 2-5 will have a router connected to the switch port, each is a separate segregated network, with its Own public IP.
I want to configure the switch to prioritize traffic in the following manner:
Port 2: VOIP: Always gets TOP priority, then Port 3: PoS (but not that important), then port 4: internal (less important), then port 5: public wifi (least important).

8 Port Gigabit Switch, HP 1810-8G, Netgear GS108Tv2 and Dell PowerConnect 2808, which one is better for LACP Link Aggregation?
The Netgear GS108Tv2 has more function than the other two, but I don't know the Netgear is stable or not?

I recently purchased a used 2716, and I just can't seem to access the web interface.i have a Cat5e cable running from my router to Port 1 of the switch. I have my laptop connected to Port 16 via a Cat6 cable.
I have internet access both on managed and unmanaged modes, so that's working just fine. I can't seem to access the web interface however. I've tried both IE9 and FF4.
I followed the instructions to hold down the "Managed Mode" button for 30 seconds, and then wait for the switch to reboot. I've done this a few times just to be sure. This should reset it, but when I try to access 192.168.2.1, it just tells me it cannot access this page.

I just purchased a SG300-10 switch and loaded the newest 1.27 firmware on it. Setup my VLANS and trunks but I have this weird issue. My setup:
I have the SG300-10 as my main switch and changed it over to L3 so it can be my main core in my small network. On port 1, vlan 200 is setup as my native PVID untagged and I have it set to trunk vlan's 210(LAN network), 220 (management vlan) tagged over to a Dell powerconnect 5224 24port switch. On port 1 of the Dell switch, I have it setup as a trunk there as well with the same setup (native PVID vlan set to 200 untagged, trunking 210 and 220 tagged).

I have no previous Cisco switch experience. I just received a brand new SG200-08 switch. It replaces a small blue Trendnet 5 port switch. I configured the SG200-08 with a static IP address which is on the same subnet as all our wired devices, then I installed it and connected a computer and printer and another switch to it. The other switch is a Dell PowerConnect 2716. I suddenly have no network connectivity with the router any longer. When I plug the network cable that runs from the PowerConnect 2716 into the SG200-08, the link status light will not go on for that port. I am going to be replacing the Dell PowerConnect with a Cisco switch as well, the SG300-10.

I have a RV082 router that is currently in prod. I have a Dell Powerconnect 5424 switch that I'd like to use in place of the unmanaged switches I am currently using.
I have the switch configured with it's IP, subnet, gateway, etc. I can plug devices into it and communicate with no problems. However, when I attempt to plug in the router, nothign will communicate to or from the switch. The devices I plugged in will not talk to each outer, ping the switch, or the router. Also cannot ping to the switch from a device plugged into the router. If I unplug the router, comm opens back up.

I have a Dell PowerConnect 5448 and i had a separate VLAN setup for my iSCSI traffic. Now yesterday I was going to add a few more ports to this VLAN but when i went into the switch the VLAN was gone. I know it was configured and saved because a few weeks ago when I set it up, I went into the switch several times to adjust stuff. For some reason when it lost power it may have reverted back to default settings.

I have a wireless router in my house and I have a Night Owl video surveillance system setup (hardwired) in my garage and a wireless pc. Is there a way or is there some kind of wireless port device I can get to plug into my Night Owl DVR, so I don’t have to run an RJ45 cable from the house to the garage? I was told by Night Owl tech support the DVR would have to be hardwired only. I would like to monitor the surveillance system from a distance or through a computer.

We are trying to setup our ASA 5505 to do port forwarding to multiple internal servers and have run into some issues. A little background on what we are trying to do.
We have 1 static external IP. Internally we have one exsisting server (10.1.1.184) that has port 80 forwarded to it and another exsisting server (10.1.1.185) that has port 443 forwarded to it. Both of these servers are serving seperate web apps to our employees who of course use them offsite. We have now added an additional server (10.1.1.186) that needs to use both ports 80 and 443. Is there any way to set it up so that these ports can be forwarded to all the servers that need them? Also, how would this work as far knowing what traffic will need to go to which server even though it is using the same port?
The equipment is: ASA 5505ASA Version 7.2(4)ASDM Version 5.2(4) I appologize in advance if what I'm trying to do is difficult/impossible. I inherted the ASA 5505 at this location and I was not here when it was initially installed. In fact no one on staff was here when it was initially installed. I did manage to find the passwords to it though. I'm not at all familiar with the ASA 5505 or Cisco secuirty appliances in general.

I was wondering how does failover works on Cisco Small Business RV016. Specifically, I am interested when one WAN line stop working, and all the computers in the LAN start using another line. Does it means that IP addresses of the computers in the LAN will change, or they stay the same? If they change can I set it up that they always stay the same no matter which input WAN they are using?

I recently purchased a Slingbox PRO-HD and the iPad software to view HD on my iPad when I'm away from home. When I setup the Slingbox using their web-based configuration program, it reports that I do not have my network configured for the best performance for internet viewing, which is what I need for the iPad. I suspect that I don't have port forwarding for port 5001 correctly setup on my system. I can successfully connect to my Slingbox away from home on my iPad and my laptop, but the performance is indeed poor.
I have a cable modem and two E2000 routers. The first E2000 is connected to my cable modem in my home office and the second E2000 is in my home theater. I used Cisco Connect on separate PCs to setup the two routers. Here are the details:Cable modem:Scientific AtlantaModel DPX2203 SeriesPart number 4006351'Ethernet' connected to Router 1 'Internet' connection.
Router 1:Cisco LinksysModel E2000IP address 192.168.1.1Wireless enabled.'Internet' connected to Cable modem.'Ethernet' connections:1. Seagate network storage drive2. Desktop PC3. Desktop PC4. Router 2

How do I setup port forwarding for the Slingbox PRO-HD on port 5001? Also, what is the best way to setup two E2000 routers so that I can use both as wireless access points?

how to go about setting up the ASA to block any SMTP traffic outbound except for our Exchange Server. This is in relationship to a SpamBot issue that blacklisted us. I have an ASA 5510 running version 6.2(5) / 8.2(2) with three ports. DMZ, Inside and the Outside interface. Up till today, I only needed to block outside traffic to our internal network which I used the ASDM to configure a rule on the outside interface for an incoming rule. I am assuming I need to create an outgoing rule on the outside interface; however, just to make sure I understand the terminology/traffic flow, I created the rule with my computer as the source (192.168.0.131) with ALL destination and the service as HTTP. My logic, which seems to fail here, is that any traffic from my computer going outbound would be blocked; however I am still able to browse... That said, if I were to change the source as the Exchange server and the Service Type to SMTP, it would not actually block traffic and therefore not solve our problem. I even gone as far as permitting traffic from my computer, expanding the hit counter and I see no hits. So I am no doubt doing this wrong. What I do know, is when I first created the rule, a second rule was automatically created (Implicit rule) that deny all sources and blocked all HTTP traffic until I changed it to Permit?

Management purchased a HA package from Cisco consisting of 2 5508's with pre installed 500 users license on the Primary WLC and none on the secondary WLC. We have 5508's already so I am familiar with setting them up and so forth. What I am not familiar with is setting them up using HA for failover and license sharing. I've looked and looked and can't find documentation online showing how to set this up. I have found some but nothing that is complete. I have spent 2 days spinning my wheels.

What is the best way to set up a network. Is the network wizard the way to go? Some of that terminology I dont get relative to hardware in the checklist section. I have a dell Inspiron 530, windows XP pro Sp 3 I have broadband with a westell 7500 router. I have a filtered system on all phone jacks for the signal and plugged in to the router with the phone line to the modem to the dell as primary.Peripherals are epson scanner, HP Officejet pro 8000 wireless ( i have it wired for now. thru the modem. My other PC a HP Model Pavilion d4650e with same OS. It has a linxs wireless usb adapter for Internet supply. I think I have everything I need hardware wise to proceed with the wizard.

I currently have cable internet connected to one router (Linksys E2000 w/ firmware v1.0.03). That router is connected to another router, a Linksys E3200 w/ firmware v1.0.02. In order to properly forward ports through the E3200, I understand that I need to set up a static IP on that router.I've basically followed the steps outlined in this video, but when I enter all the IP addresses for Static IP settings, it won't allow me to access the router's setup page. I try entering the new IP that I've given it (which it tries to direct itself to automatically after I save the settings) and the connection times out. I am able to access the internet otherwise, however. From here I'm forced to do a factory reset on the router and start from square one.

The update fixed the connection problem and I no longer have dropped connections and wifi connection back to normal. HOWEVER it has left my auto connect nonfunctional.

I have 2 sub nets within my office: 172.16.1.0/24 and 172.16.2.0/24. All devices on each subnet are wired independently from each other into the server closet. Previously each sub net had it's own switch in the closet to connect to that sub nets servers. We are replacing the 2 switches with a single Dell 2816 managed switch.
Is there a benefit to setting up the switch with 2 VLANs over just letting everything pass through the switch in un managed mode?
My only security concern is this: 1 sub net has access to the internet while the other does not. Does setting up 2 VLANs provide additional security by preventing 1 subnet from accessing the other? In other words, if a computer with internet access gets hacked will it being on one side of a VLAN prevent the hacker from accessing the other subnet?
