Cisco Switching/Routing :: Can Ping From R1 To R3 SVI4 Gateway But Cannot Ping Host

Dec 12, 2011

I set this up and I can ping all the gateways but never the hosts.  I was hoping I could make these links between 6500's a mix of L2 and L3.  Check it out.  They are connected in a linear fashion R1--->R2--->R3.  I can ping from R1 to R3's SVI4 gateway but I can never ping a host on that SVI4.  I was hoping that I could use the port-channels between 6500's as routed links or as trunk links depending on the type of traffic....thought it would ease the migration.  I suppose I could always get rid of the port-channels and just make separate L2 and L3 links between the 6500's.

Cisco WAN :: ASR 1002 - OER PfR Limitation On Number Of Interface

Mar 6, 2011

We have a deployment of 400 store. Each of those have 2 GRE tunnels running over MPLS & 2 GRE Tunnels running over Internet leading to our 2 data-centers. At each Data-Center, we have 1 ASR-1002 connecting both MPLS & Internet MPLS tunnels (800 total per router).

I saw in the documentation that OER & PfR cannot support more than 20 external interface (in our case GRE tunnels) per MC. Does it means that we need to have 20 routers acting as MC to be able to use PfR for our Internet GRE tunnels ?

Is there any more scalable solution for this ? How big company address this issue when they have a lot of interface to run PfR ?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560G Can Ping Devices In Enterprise LAN But Cannot Ping Interface

Mar 31, 2012

I have a new 3560G to set up a small network for a remote site. I configured the vlan and an SVI as the gateway. The switch is also the DHCP server for the LAN. I configured Gi0/2 as L3 port, connecting to the nearest neighbor. My network runs EIGRP so i advertised the routes into the EIGRP process. The switch forms EIGRP neighbors and learns all routes in the enterprise network. The problems I'm having now are: 1. The switch learns all routes in my enterprise LAN and can ping devices in the enterprise LAN, but I can’t ping any interface on the switch from the enterprise LAN. 2.

Ping Could Not Find Host / DNS And Key-port / Server Not Found

Apr 30, 2011

recently I had some malware on my Windows XP Professional (version 2002), so I followed a guide at Bleeping Computer [URL] to get rid of it. Problem is, for some reason, after I finished, I could no longer access the internet! When I try, FIrefox gives me their "could not connect" message: "Server not found. Firefox can't find the server at [site]." Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of [URL]"When I try to log into MSN, the troubleshoot says I have a problem with my DNS and Key Ports.I'm not good with computers so I Google'd and found some ping-ing instructions. When I tried to ping [site], I get: "Ping request could not find host [site]. check the name and try again." This happens regardless of the site I use.Lastly, I tried "ping 127.0.0.1" from a troubleshooting site. It gives me: "Pinging 127.0.0.1 with 32 bytes of data:

Cisco Firewall :: ASA5510 Doesn't Shun Host From Outside Interface

Sep 13, 2011

I've been trying to configure the threat-detection scanning-threat shun feature on my ASA5510 running 8.4(2) for some days now. From searching the support community I can see that I'm not the only one having a problem with this feature. The problem I'm having is that after configuring scanning-threat shun, no outside attacking hosts are being shunned. I'm using nmap to simulate a scanning attack. [code]

Is this the expected behavior of scanning-threat shun? If so this feature is of very little use to me as blocking my inside LAN is not my goal. I'm trying to protect my LAN from Internet attack. I can add the except command and exempt my LAN, but this still doesn't fix the problem of outside hosts not being shunned.

I can connect from the VPN Client, but no traffic going through. The problem to me is isakmp with DPD. But why it is dead? Why no response from the server? Cisco VPN :: 857 / EzVPN Sometimes Ping Only In One Direction Or Interface

Jan 14, 2013

I have lots of 857's routers in the field with mostly the latest OS - 12.4(15)T17 making ezVPN connections to a 2951 with 15.1(4)M5.All the 857's have lookback and vlan interfaces similar to :

interface Loopback0
ip address 50.43.8.1 255.255.255.255
ip tcp adjust-mss 1452
end

[code]....

Now lately for some or other reason we have instances where I can ping either the VLAN or the LOOPBACK interface, but not both. Or I have instances where the 2951 can ping all the interfaces on the 857, but the 857 can not ping the 2951. Or I have instances where the 2951 can not ping the 857, but the 857 can ping the 2951.The way I have been fixing this is either to add crypto ipsec client ezvpn SMS_VPN inside to the loopback interface, or if it is there already to remove it. This usually works for a few days, but then suddenly I have to reverse this again. If that does not work then I usually do lots of clear crypt sess and/or clear crypt ipsec client ezvpn on the 857, or clear crypt sess remote 857_ip_address from the 2951 and then suddenly it starts working again.
