i bought new RF Cisco 7204VXR NPE-G1. As soon i enable OC3 module ( PA-POS-OC3SMI) CPU of the router shoot to 100%, and if i reboot the router, it wont comeback not even on Console. I had to remove the POS card and then boot router and then hot insert the module.
so i put the command
int pos 4/0
loopback internal
as soon igave this command, CPU dropped down to normal. Whats the deal here? now i need to activate the circuit on this POS interface, but as soon i remove loopback internal command , CPU shoots to 100% Although CPU sorted dont show any process causing it.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm running (C7200P-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T4, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2) on a Cisco 7204VXR (NPE-G2). Currently, the router has about 200 VLANs configured on dot1q subinterfaces.
Now, the router hangs everytime we try to add a new Vlan.
Is there a well-known bug with the IOS version?
Why my OC3 interface is showing increasing output drops its starts happening as soon traffic exceed 60Mbps ( FYI my traffic never exceeded 75Mbps MAX, and circuit is 150Mbps from carrier , full OC3)

what I have are 2 x 7204VXR (Gateways), 1 x 4507R-E (Coreswitch), and our ISP have 7609.Got some issues with redundancy with our ISP.

Both outside interfaces of 7204 gateways are connecting to 7609 with different public ip block.I used VRRP for my internal nework and failover have been tested working.Even tried to remove link of 7204-A and 7609, the failover works perfect.But somehow we're facing a problem:
- If I shutdown/ remove the link between my 4507R-E and 7204-A (primary gw_higher vrrp priority), vrrp redundancy/failover still works but internal network's internet connection goes down.
I asked our ISP and the route commands they put in their 7609 are as of follows:
ip route 3.8.8.0 255.255.255.0 3.4.4.4 name TO CUSTOMER LINK 1
ip route 3.8.8.0 255.255.255.0 3.3.3.3 2 name TO CUSTOMER LINK 2
And if they're trying to use Reliable Static Routing Backup Using Object Tracking, the internal network's internet connections is intermittent....alternate 4 ping reply and 4 timeout.
Note: IP used are sample only
When the router boots up, the boot loader keeps telling me it does not recognize the card and wait until it fully boots to see the revision on the card, but I can not see the revision on the card because it is unrecognized.
What boot loader I need to get the 7204 to recognize the card?

I am seeing packets being ignored on GigabitEthernet0/0, but can't find any reason what the reason can be for that. So far calculated that about 3% of the traffic is being ignored. If it was caused by shortage of input buffers, I would expect to see increasing counters somewhere at no_buffer, but that is not the case. The average txload and rxload on the router is low all times.

In my bedroom I have my modem, wireless router (Netgear WGR614 v9), and my desktop computer which has a large HDD with all my movies, TV shows, and music. In my living room, I have my Xbox and new device I just recently installed, PBO (Patriot Box Office Core Media Player). The media player has ports for USB and ethernet hard drive connections.Basically what I'm looking for is a way to convert the wireless signal in my living room into a physical connection (ethernet cable) which I can plug into my PBO and watch high def (720p+ resolution) videos from my desktop.
I know that a USB wifi adapter would be simpler, but there's one thing I'm trying to determine before I buy: bottlenecking. I crunched the numbers (not quite sure how accurately mind you haha), and here's what I saw - a recent bandwidth test (using my desktop) reported my upload speed around 3000kpbs (375KB/s), whereas the sustained speed of USB 2.0 is reportedly anywhere from 5MB/s to 15MB/s (way higher).

i have a wireless deplyoment with WLC 5508, ACS 5.2 and several AD connected by LDAP. It is required that users are authenticated by certificates additional the user should only get access to the wireless environment when the user is found in a certain security group in the Microsoft AD forrest. give me the run down on the features removed from the 4400 series in the 2500 series? Obviously 4400 is now EOL, and so i cannot purchase new. Therefore I was looking at the 2500 for my implementation to save costs also.I would like to have two SSID's, running seperate VLAN's, one voice, one guest, trunk the link to the AP's, which will be 1131AG or newer, N possibly. Voice needs to be encrypted with WPA or WPA2, guest needs to be open using the guest access feature. Here's a sample but with EAP:

Is this supported to have WPA on one SSID and Guest access on the other? i did spot a paragraph in the 4400 manual stating that certain restrictions apply regarding one SSID having encryption and the other being guest mode?I notice also in the WCS documentation, it doesn't explicitly state it supports the 2500 series under the managed devices section?

Does WS-C2960S-48FPS-L model support all 48 ports POE+ (30Watts)? Does that mean each port will get 30 Watts on this switch?
Does model WS-C2960S-48LPS-L support 24 ports with POE and 24 ports with POE+?.
I am currently using catalyst 4506 L3 switch and 2950 L2 switches for pc's which are EOL. I am replacing L3 with 3750X, two switches in a stack. L2 is 2960S all with gbps ports. I have to have a baseline (performance comparison with the current setup and new setup) and I am using the following methods
1. Iperf throughput comparison among local vlans
2. Iperf throughput comparison with remote data centers servers.
3. Ping/ftp upload/download comparison with remote DC's. FTP file is around 3GB.
Today I have tested the above with the new setup and compared it with the old setup. For the tasks 1 & 3 I found better performance with the new setup. However the task 2 did not show any performance increase infact the throughput was much lower comparing to the old setup.
I have a NAT setup. Some of my udp packets are dropping. How to find more about the NAT to find whether it missed anything or not. the router is 3945e. [code]

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have inherited a 3945E router with an NM-8CE1T1-PRI card installed in slot 2 using the SM-NM adapter card. The command 'card type E1 2' has been issued but I only see interfaces Serial2/0:0 to Serial2/0:30.
Since it as 8 port card I was also expecting there to be
Serial2/1:0 to Serial2/1:30
Serial2/2:0 to Serial2/2:30
etc etc.......
Serial2/7:0 to Serial2/7:30
The router will not allow me to issue a sub slot number with the card type command.
Am I missing something in the configuration or is there an issue with this card and router combination? The show inventory has the following:

The 3945E has had good reviews as a high throughput router but the datasheets suggests performance of 350Mbps. It also states that additional performance can be ensured by adding SPE modules. Whether the 3945E could achieve up to 1Gbps with SPE modules?
If the 3945E can't achieve such performance, The key features I am after are:
IPV4 and IPV6 support
L2tpV3 support
BGP
IP SLA
1Gb Copper Connections on-board with capability of at least 4 Ports
