Cisco WAN :: Config On 2950 Dual Internet Connections Without BGP Enabled ISP

Feb 11, 2012

i have come across this solution to dual internet connections, c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA14.bin is the IOS and the router is a 2950 Dual Wan model. I don't know alot about this stuff I'll admit, but it is on the default configuration with IP 192.168.27.7 255.255.255.0, gateway at 192.168.27.8.  The hostname below is something I don't know exactly what it means but my guess is its the line at the command prompt with the name.

It has VLAN1 with fa0/1-24, gi0/1 - 2.

This is the script but I don't know why its not taking the commands as at ip sla monitor 1 I get invalid command error. What do the ! mean are they comments and not entered?

Can't Use Internet Even If 2 Other Wireless Connections Are Enabled

Jan 24, 2012

I have windows 7 PC. On the normal bases it has 3 internet connections 2 wireless and 1 hardwired. The 2 wireless are used for internet access and the hardwired is for my LAN through my router. The wireless connections are throught ATT mobile devices. I use my lan to share files through PC in my household and it has no internet access. The problem is that whenever I have all 3 of these connections connected windows always sees the hardwire connection as internet access so I can't use the internet even if my 2 other wireless connections are enabled. However, If I disable the Local area network connections and the leave 2 wireless connections enabled I have internet again.is there a way to just make windows use the hardwired connection as local and use the wireless connections for internet?

Now, I'd like to replace my old 2950s by 2960 switches, which have the same number of ports.

Will there be any issue if I copy the exact same config from 2950 to 2960 ? Will some features not work or is everything interoperable ? Here's an extract of the config :

Cisco Routers :: RV-042G With Dual WAN Connections - No Internet After An Hour?

Dec 25, 2012

I just upgraded from RV-042 to RV-042G on 24.Dec.

My previous connections are : (1st) 100Mbps ISP connection, (2nd) 200Mbps ISP connection (fibre to home)

Before upgrade, my RV-042 worked very stable.

After using Migration Tools by exporting RV-042 current config and converted to V3 configuration, the converted configuration was imported to RV-042G.

In beginning, RV-042G woks fine after imported converted configuration file. Unfortunately, after around 1 hour of use, my iPad (through an Apple Airport Extreme Station) and wired PC could not browse internet.

But, port-forward to 3 IP-cam still be able to access by my iPhon4 through Carrier 3G connections.

After a reboot of RV-042G, internet connection comes back.  But, after an hour of use, the same issue happened again.

RV-042G makes me fluctuated.  I will fallback to RV-042 from now on and wait for any further firmware improvement from Cisco/Linksys.

My previous RV-042 and current RV-042G config:-

* WAN1 : 100Mbps ISP connection
* WAN2 : 1Gbips ISP connection ( 200Mbps max throughput)
* LAN1 : connected to Apple Airport Extreme
* LAN2 : connected to Linksys 16-port FastEthernet switch
* LAN3 : idle
* LAN4 : connected to an Intel i7 PC
* Dual WAN link mode with bandwidth management, all internet connection from PC will stick on WAN2

Cisco WAN :: ASA5505 / Setting Access Policies Dual Internet Connections

Jun 7, 2011

I'm trying to set up a S2S VPN between two ASA5505 SP units running ASA Version 8.2(1). I've ordered additional ADSL2 lines to handle this traffic and I'm having troubles with the configuration for the additional PPPoE connection. Here is are extracts from my current config; First the interface vlans

!
interface Vlan1
nameif inside
security-level 100
ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0

[code]....

The result being that I can ping the OUTSIDE interface, but get no reply from the VPN interface. I've checked ADSL lines, they are up. The two PPPoE sessions are logged in and active. I can even see the ICMP packets hit the VPN interface, but there is no reply.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5510 - Dual Internet Connections / Routing DMZ Traffic

May 29, 2012

I am having an issue when implementing an additional internet connection on our ASA 5510. The new connection is "TWCOutside".  I was my understanding that static NAT would force our externally hosted servers (Email, PPTP VPN, and FTP) to continue to utilize the "ATTOutside" connection.  Our remote site-to-site VPN traffic has two static routes configured to force it to continue to use the ATTOutside connection.When I switch the metric on the 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 98.103.148.145 route to 1, and change out default dynamic xlate to use "TWCOutside", it "mostly" works as expected.  Email, the PPTP VPN server, and our remote site-to-site VPN server continue to use the ATTOutside connection as designed.  Our end users begin using the new connection for thier internet browsing.

However, our FTP server, in the DMZ, completley loses outside access.  It cannot ping to 8.8.8.8, or resolve DNS queries.  The is a static NAT statement for this server, as it is using one of our dedicated public IP addresses.  I need it to continue to do so for the next few weeks.Effectivley, we just want to give our end users internet browsing on the new TWC link, but leave everything else on the old ATT link for the time being.  The only problem I am having is the DMZ connection.  I am currently "rolled back", so no one is using the new connection until I figure this out.  I can easily switch the metric and dynamic PAT back to using the TWC connection, but I need to have some things to try with the DMZ before doing so. No Connections Available - What Settings In Administrative Tools / Services Should Be Enabled

Now it says no connections are available (there are, and other devices are fine). I tried all the simple solutions and have made any programs automatic that even vaguely look internet related and I still can't connect. The wireless adapter is enabled. I need to know what settings in the administrative tools/services should be enabled. The laptop is running Win 7 pro.

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5510 - Dual WAN Connections

Nov 29, 2011

Context:1- My company has one ASA 5510 configured with Site-to-site VPN, Ip sec Cisco VPN and Any Connect VPN.2- We use ASA to connect to the single ISP (ISP 1) for internet access. ASA does all the Na Ting for internal users to go out.3- A second link is coming in and we will be using ISP 2 to load balance traffic to internet (i.e. business traffic will go via ISP1 and “other” traffic will go via ISP2).4- A router will be deployed in front of the ASA to terminate internet links.5- No BGP should be used to implement policy (traffic X goes via ISP1, traffic Y goes via ISP2). Questions:How do I get this done, particularly, how do I tell the router, for traffic X use ISP1 and for traffic Y use ISP2? PBR is my friend?Since I will be having 2 public Ip Addresses from the 2 ISPs, how do I NAT internal users to the 2 public Ip addresses ?. Finally, which device should be doing the Na Ting? The ASA just like now or move Na Ting to the Router?

Cisco Routers :: RV042G Dual WAN Connections?

Jun 5, 2013

We are connecting to a Cisco DPC3825 cable modem supplied by our ISP.  It has been configured to act as a switch only.  They have supplied us with 2 static IP addresses.

When each WAN port is connected individually, everything is fine.  I see the IP addresses on the respective WAN port, and it is working fine.

When I connect both WAN ports to the modem at the same time, I see a large amount of traffic between the WAN ports, as indicated by the port LEDs, and the RV042G becomes completely non-responsive through its web interface.

How do I get the RV042G working with both WAN ports connected?

Cisco Firewall :: 5505 High Availability Over Dual WAN Connections

Mar 20, 2011

One of my remote sites acquires Internet connectivity via a cable  modem service.  This goes down intermittently, of course.  I would like  to purchase DSL service from the local telco and configure the edge ASA  (currently a 5505) to use the cable modem path normally ... and fall  back to the DSL path if necessary.

These seems hard to  do.  The edge box would need to evaluate the viability of a WAN path  using some set of tests ... perhaps pings to a handful of major Internet  sites.  If all those pings start failing, it would stall for a minute,  to give the WAN service provider time to recover ... then cut over to  the second path.  Cutting to the second path might mean pushing new DNS  server addresses to clients (or perhaps the edge box would hand out both  sets of DNS servers all the time and rely on the clients to try them  all.)  Once the cable modem provider restored service, the edge box  would stall for a while (ten minutes?  an hour?) and then cut back.

I'm willing to replace the edge box with something  fancier (a bigger ASA or something sold as a router or whatever),  although I'd like to stay under 10K (list) for such a replacement.

Cisco WAN :: 1841 / 2950 / Unable To Connect To The Internet?

Feb 24, 2011

I'm unable to connect to the internet?My university gave us student permission toset up a cisco lab. I hve an 1841 router and a 2950 catalyst switch in a single room. Fa0/1 is conncted to the switch using a 192.168.3.0 /24 network. DHCP is correctly assaigning ip addresses to the switch.

I connected the Fa0/0 port to the wall and used the following command to obtain an ip on the Fa0/0 port: ip adress dhcp. I used the following route command: ip route dhcp. That didn't work so I used the ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Fa0/0.When I run the sh cdp neighbors command I see a multilayer switch that show me connected to the Ga2/26 port with ip:192.168.179.254.I also see that the default vlan is 200 and the voice vlan is 800.

A linksys router is about to let us access the internet. I am able to ping the 192.168.179.254 address from the 1841 router.What am I missing to connect to the internet.I forgot to mention that I successfully receive an ip from the wall.  The latest ip I received was 192.168.179.100 /24.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2950 / Vlans And Internet Access Sharing?

Apr 5, 2013

i am trying to set up a cisco 2950 with a vlan to seperate all of the pos machines on the network (4 of them) from all other machnes in the building (3 hard wired and wi-fi).  i was going to use vlan 1 as a trunk to allow internet access to go from fa0/1 to both vlans (vlan 10 and vlan 20).  i have read things about the acl having an explicit deny at the end, so i'm thinking that is my  problem.  i am testing it at my house before deploying it to the network.  i have 1 laptop setup with an ip of 192.168.0.50, and the other is .60.  my router is 192.168.0.1.  i have the ethernet from the router plugged into fa0/1, the 1st laptop on fa0/2 and the other at fa0/3. before i set the vlans up, i checked the communication by just plugging them in and trying to ping, they could both ping each other, the router and 8.8.8.8.  when i finished setting up the test vlans, they could not ping each other(what i wanted) and laptop 1 can ping the router, and 8.8.8.8.  laptop 2 cannot ping anything.
the only thing i did was create vlan 10 and 20, set port fa0/2 to vlan 10 and no sh, fa03 to vlan 20 and no sh, fa0/1 to vlan 1 and no sh.  then i did switchport mode trunk on fa0/1, and switchport native vlan 1.  this seems to be how i was supposed to do it, but it's been a while since i have worked with switches.  i'm sure it's simple, but after searching the internet and poring over my cisco books for 5 hours, it is turning out not to be the case. here are some details:

greenhouse#sh int fa0/1 switchport
Name: Fa0/1
Switchport: Enabled
Administrative Mode: trunk
Operational Mode: trunk
Administrative Trunking Encapsulation: dot1q

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3200 QoS And WMM Settings Slow Internet Down When Enabled

Feb 13, 2012

Ok, so I recently upgraded to a Linksys E3200. I am trying to get the QoS to work properly. I know that it is supposed to prioritize network traffic, so that if I have busy traffic but I am playing an online game, it should keep my gaming from stuttering while slowing other traffic down.

The problem is that every time I enable QoS everything slows down dramatically. I had a 200MB download that was going to take 5hrs with QoS enabled, that took 10min with QoS disabled. And with QoS enabled I can't even watch a youtube video without it pausing to buffer every 10 seconds. And that was the only PC/device using the network at the time. Again turning off the QoS WMM option solved  the problem. I have noticed this problem with multiple routers and brands and usually just disable QoS as soon as I set up a router, however I heard that I won't get the full benefit of 300Mbps without QoS enabled.

I don't have any special Voice over IP needs, or video streaming etc. and I rarely am using multiple network devices at the same time. Is there really any reason I should enable QoS? Also I never really play with the settings for QoS, I just figure that since it comes enabled by default it should work for the average consumer.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54g - Internet Speeds Slowing Down When Wifi Enabled

Jun 27, 2011

I have both the WRT54G and a E1000 wireless routers and this problem is occurring for both of them.I use AT&T DSL and the speeds are fine when it is :

1. Not plugged into router

2. Wireless Network Mode is disabled through the router configuration page, having all devices wired.

However when wireless network mode is enabled, speeds drop significantly, 15~17 ms ping goes to 250~800 ping, and download speeds are way lower also. When the router is reset, the regular speeds will return for maybe 30 seconds to 1 minute, then it'll drop back down. I'm positive there's no outsiders connected to my network and this problem still occurs, only when the router is giving out wireless signals. Sometimes the problem randomly goes away for a while but it will always come back. I've tried many things, firmware upgrades, factory restore, none of them seem to work, the only solution so far has been to disabling it, but I need it to be on as there are other devices in other rooms of the house that need WiFi to connect to the internet.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3200 - QoS Enabled / Routing Stops From LAN To Internet Side

Dec 10, 2011

E3200 works great until I enable QoS.  The device uses QoS and works find until reboot.  If QoS is enabled and the device is rebooted, its stops routing from LAN side to Internet side.  Administration-->Diagnostics allow me to ping/trace route to Internet sites and local LAN clients but cannot reach Internet from local LAN.

Windows networking icon indicates "No Internet access".  I can ping other devices on local LAN.

Disabling QoS restores routing and you can re-enable QoS after that and all is well.  Unfortunately, if there is a power failure when I', not there to disable/re-enable QoS afterward, other household members can't use the Internet till I get home.

Wondering if any other QoS users have observed the same problem.

What I was thinking is to run vpc between the 2 Nexus in the aggregation layer and between the 2 Nexus in the core layer. Than I was thinking of connecting each Nexus in the aggragtion layer to both Nexus in the core layer using port-channel and vice-versa.

Cisco :: Dual SSID (with Dual VLAN) On AiroNet 1130?

Dec 17, 2012

how to change our wireless setup. Currently, we have 2 Cisco AiroNet 1130 WAP's in the office that go directly into the 2 POE ports on our Cisco ASA 5500. These WAP's have 1 SSID and are using WEP for security. After demonstrating the flaws of WEP to my boss, he has agreed that we should use something more secure and I've suggested WPA. We want visitors to our office to be able to hop on our wireless but on a separate guest SSID with WEP.

I'd like the internal SSID to route to the ASA and take the default route to the internet (it will be our new fiber connection once it's installed in a couple weeks). The default route is whichever connection is working since our ASA 5500 will fail over when it detects an outage.

I'd like the guest SSID to route to the ASA and then go over our existing cable connection. This connection will be our backup once the fiber connection is installed. Since we won't be using it very often, but will be paying for it, I advised that we send all guest wireless traffic over this connection since 50/5 is plenty for guests.

The current SSID (which will be the internal SSID) has no VLAN. We do currently have a few VLANS on our network, one for voice (.42) and one for data (.100) and the default (.0). What device to I create the VLAN on (Cisco 5500?) and how to I setup the WAP? I need very basic instructions to start and I'm also trying to do this without causing downtime if possible.

I've attached a diagram of what it should look like. Red indicates our internal network and Blue indicates the guest network. I can send screenshots as well.

Cisco WAN :: Dual MPLS Routers Connected To Dual N5K Core

I wanted to ask a question about the diagram I have included.  We are bringing up 2 MPLS WAN connections and would like some specifics on the best design.  We are using BGP to the providers.  From there we have big questions.  We can run BGP internal and are licensed to do so on the N5K's.  The N5Ks are currently using HSRP for inside LAN clients as default gateway.  We want to load balance and provide redundant routes using a dynamic approach.  Should we use BGP internal utilizing the connections between the routers?  Should we use HSRP on the routers?  How best to get the routes to the N5K and should we be considering this?
