Cisco Switching/Routing :: Finding Specification For 3750x PoE Power Supply?

Jul 11, 2012

Looking at the specs for the 3750 power supply - is the WS-C3750X-48P-S model with the 715W power supply referring to the amount for both power supplies per switch or just one power supply per switch? Meaning, is the 715 a accumulative number or, just the watts of one power supply. I would like to purchase a 3750x PoE switch with redundant power supplies. If this model is not the correct one?give me the model that offers 48 port PoE with redundant power supplies?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: C3750X Stack Power Cables End Colors

Oct 26, 2011

Does the color strips on C3750X stack power cables mean anything, I mean the green and yellow ones. On all Cisco pictures the green one seems to be plugged in the upper ports. I asked local Cisco representative, but he seems not to be sure. We tried to try different scenarios, and it looks like it does not matter what cable end we use. We do not have any external power supply, only interconnecting C3750Xs.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Power Stacking For 3750x - Both Cables Needed?

Jun 7, 2012

Suppose I have a 3 member stack of 3750x switches.  Members a, b and c.I have all 3 members stacked with all 3 *data* stacking cables in a daisy-chain topology.  The 50 cm data stacking cable from switch a (on the very top) to switch c (on the very bottom) just barely reached.Of course, that means the 30 cm *power* stacking cable didn't reach between a & c.  Right now, the power stacking cable goes from a to b, and then another cable from b to c.  Leaving me with a useless extra 30 cm power stacking cable.

My question is, can switch "a" receive power from switch "c" through switch "b"?  Is this just a big electrical "bus"?  What if the power supply in switch "b" is removed?Just wondering if there is a need for me to get a longer power stacking cable (one of the 150 cm power stacking cables).

Can you install the powerstack cables with the switches powered up? I would assume you can, but wanted to verify before doing so.

Cisco Firewall :: 871 / 2811 / 1841 - ZBFW Default Inspection Specification

May 6, 2011

I can't find any specific information on the implementation of packet inspection in a zone based policy firewall.  In other words, is there a specification or even just a set of values that define the default inspection parameters for all protocols?  With DPI I can manage 'some' of the inspection capabilities but I have some fairly rigorous and specific requirements to meet and I need to validate that the IOS ZBFW will meet those requirements.  Specifically, I'm interested in HTTP, DNS, and ICMP but all other protocols would be useful as well.I'm working with basic routers; 871's, 2811's, 1841's, etc.  The IOS in use in most cases is adventerprisek9-mz.151-3.T.

Cisco Wireless :: 1252 - WCS Reports AP Draws Low Power - With Correct Power Injector

Jul 21, 2011

I keep getting alerts from our WCS stating that our 1252s are drawing low power. Now I am aware that they require enhanced PoE (up to 20W) but as we only have standard PoE in that building we purchased the 1252 series power injectors to go with them.

However, even with the correct power injectors the WCS still reports the draws low power error.

Is this a bug? Running WCS 7.0.172 at the moment.

Forgot to say we are using the PWR-INJ4 and the injector status is enabled and you see the injector MAC address when you drill in to the AP status.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6500 - Power-Redundancy Mode Combined And Power Fail

Feb 28, 2011

I have a 6500 chassis with 2 power supplies. At the moment  I am using the default configuration:

power-redudancy mode redundant

The problem is that an inserted module is in "power deny" state due too insufficient power.

I know, that It's not a good idea to change into combined mode (loss of redundancy), but my customers requested this anyway.

So I will change to combined mode. So here's the 1 million dollar question: "Which modules will go into power deny, if one of my power supplies fails?"

The 6500 config guide states:

"Power supply is removed withredundancy disabled
• System log and syslog messages are generated.
• System power is decreased to the power capability of one supply.
• If there is not enough power for all previously powered-up modules, some modulesare powered down and marked as power-deny in the show power oper state field."

Well, do you know if there's any way to configure some kind of priority? E.g. I definetly don't want by 10Gig Module or WiSM module to be in power deny. Can i statically make sure, those module will be powered on for sure? Like: "power enable module slot_number" How is this calculated? Or is random?
