I have a deployment of AIR-CAP35021 APs. They are in 2 buildings with multiple floors. They are installed in a row down the hallways. I want to increase the power levels by using the controller and not configuring the APs individually. I have set the TPC value to -50 but I still do not reach the outer walls of the floors in some areas. I need to know what to set the Max Power Level Assignment or Min Power Level Assignment to to get the APs to power up some more. If the MAX value is 30 and the default is 30 then how to adjust that value?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a question about sitesurveying with ap3500's, I'm going to deploy a wireless network in a new building, i have a company that normaly does my site surveys.
I normally provide them with some AP's configured with a designated ssid and local power modes set to 50%, however this does not seem possible with the new 3500i's i'm willing to use, for there is no IOS image available for it. I dont have any network connectivity yet in this new building, so i cannot f.i place them in a separate ap-group and assign a dedicated wlan to them.
Is there any detailed documentation on the Site Survey Client mode on the AP 1200?When using this mode I cannot see any indication that it has associated withthe root AP. I would like to be able to pass traffic from the ethernet port to the root AP VIA the AP in client mode. The Ap in client mode shows the radio in blocking when in client mode, is this normal? Is there a way to manually change this to forwarding mode?

I am wanting to use a Cisco Aironet 1552EU to use on a site survey for a future deployment and I need to know if it is possible to configure the AP to broadcast an SSID so that my team can search for that SSID and view the signal strength throughout the site. Is a WLC required to set the SSID or is there an SSID that will be broadcast by default that we can try to connect to?

As the the 3600 is the higher specification model, is it safe to assume the reverse? I.e. a site survey carried out using 2600 access points is valid for a 3600 deployment, or is this too simplistic?

Upon reviewing the site survey software, it seems you need to use an Aironet adapter. However from what i can tell, all the Aironet adapters are PCMICA cards, which most modern laptops do not have, and the PCMICA cards that do exist don't have drivers for windows 7.
Are there USB adapters w/ Windows 7 drivers that can be used to perform a site survey?
We have two L3 3750 switches running HSRP and routing for various Vlans on our corporate network. Rapid PVST is running across our entire WAN. We are introducing a third party solution for remote communications over MPLS. When interconnecting this equipment to our core network, we have experienced less than desirable failover times of 32 seconds and recovery times of 60 seconds. The vendors engineers are telling is that the interoperability between IEEE spanning tree and Rapid PVST is the culprit.
They are suggesting two scenarios - either converting our corporate network to MST (which I prefer not to do but provides us the fastest fail/recovery times) or adjust the timers on our Rapid PVST forwarding timer to 4 seconds. What would the implications be to change these timers on our network, and if I choose to do this, do I only do it at the core (on the two devices that would become root bridge)? I have been doing some reading that says to not mess with the timers, but nowhere do I see reasons why.
Just discovered I can change the focus on a DCS-920 by adjusting the black ring around the lens. It can be focused from very close, just inches, to infinity. I don't see this in any of the DLink documentation.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to connect two DCS-942L to some netgear WNHD3004 (wireless access points a/n WPA2 personal) that I use as access point but I can't find them in the site survey (advanced settings then wireless setup in the camera page).I think I could set manually the network name, security mode and key but since I'm working remotly on these camera, I'm pretty sure it won't work and I'll loose connection (actually they are connected to other access points and work ok).An ipad and macbook pro is able to see and connect to these access points so I don't think they are the problem.I've updated the camera to the latest firmware (1.12 build 1608 agent version : 2.0.15-b11)

I also have Qos Engine on for allowing me to have 2 xboxes on Open NAT.problem is my wireless signal for some wired reason is VERY weak. A while ago it used to work really far way outside. It was around 150ft distance at 4 bars. Now for some reason I can't even go upstairs without getting a 1 or 2 bar signal.

I just installed a brand new AP541N-A-K9 (running AP541N-K9-2.0(1) software) and cannot seem to add a SSID. I've tried both from CCA and directly from the Web interface (Wireless:Wireless Network Setup menu). The Add Another button doesn't seem to do anything. I've even tried multiple browser versions.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 AP541N access points. Have been working well for a couple of years. Later last year they just dissapeard from CCA one day. COundt access them but they were still delivering 'wireless' so to speak I have recently put them back to defaults to try and get them back in to CCA. i had one, but not the other. They would work fine via GUI/web access.Then i updated them to 2.0.4 (both images) and since doing that i have no access to either of them via any form.

I set this to "Enabled", the problem is I only entered 1 IP address, and that IP address is the SAME IP as the AP's own internal interface. I was not thinking and entered that IP out of habit when I meant to enter my workstation's IP. The FW does not have a safeguard against this.
So, as you can see, this is a big problem, because now I have completely cut off all access (That I can think of) to the router. I can never access the AP as that IP because if I set my workstation to that IP, 1) There will be an address conflict, 2) My computer won't route traffic to the AP out its NIC because it recognizes that IP as itself.
As I posted about in the other AP541N thread about degraded performance, mine did a strange client disconnect last week. It dropped all authenticated clients, but they all thought they were still connected. A quick disable/enable of the wireless card on the laptop would get the computer back on the AP.
This same thing happened again today.

we have two AP541n APs that were clustered togehter. They are powered using PoE. The other day I discovered one of them wasn't working properly. I couldn't log into it from the web interface so I unplugged it and plugged it back in from the PoE switch. That didn't work. Since then I have taken it off the network and have tried to reset it and I still can't access it. I've tried connecting to it from the default IP, which according to the admin guide is 192.168.10.10, and that doesn't work. I have tried using Telnet and SSH to connect to it using the default IP and the static IP we had set for it. I have set up a little linksys router and plugged the AP and a laptop into it in hopes it might get DHCP, but that hasn't worked either. I have also noticed the WLAN 2.4G and WLAN 5G lights are not coming on. The PWR, SPEED, and LAN lights all come on. The DIAG light comes on when it's furst plugged in and then turns off. Right now it is not plugged into PoE so that light is off too. We had both APs plugged into an ESW-520 that was plugged into a UC560 which had recently been updated to the latest firmware: 8.6.1. The short story is I don't have any connectivity to my AP541n, even after being reset. No wireless, no Web GUI, no ping, nothing. Has this thing become a large paperweight?
