Cisco WAN :: Internet Connectivity On 2901 ISR
Jan 1, 2012
Physical devices are a Cisco 2901 (CISCO2901/K9) with GE0/0 configured as 192.168.1.1
Connected through a D-Link DGS-1210-24 configured as 192.168.1.202
Running on a domain with an HP domain server as 192.168.1.2
The 2901 was an EHWIC (VA-DSL-A oPoTS) on EHWIC 0/0/0
GE 0/0 on the 2901 is physically connected to the DGS-1210 which is physically connected to the server.
VDSL 0/0/0 is physically connected to the DSL jack.
So far the configuration reports all is connected, and I can ping the gateway of our ISP (using CLI or Cisco CP); however the server reports no internet connection and no workstations can access the 'net.
Once connected; I'd also like to allow ports through for use on the network (25, 80, 110, 443, 987, 1723) - but not sure on how to do that just yet!
Our IP is 202.27.19x.19x
Our Gateway is 202.27.217.5

Everything in my network works as a charm. Every host in my vlans can access and ping the internet with no problems. But, my main router does not ping the internet (Pinging either ip "173.194.71.104" or domain "www.google.com" do not work). I don't know how is that possible since my hosts can ping the internet. Below is my main router confiurations

I need another set of eyes on my config. I am trying to set up my router for a basic connection for the time being. I set my gig 0/0 port to dhcp I see traffic being sent and recieved but I can not ping 8.8.8.8. I am connected to a basic comcast modem from 0/0 I have also tried setting gig 0/0 to 100 full. I do have IP routing enabled. I believe I have my acl's configured correctly. I am wondering at this point if I need a static block of IP's from comcast.
hostname vpn-router-2901

I have a subnet for guest network access, both wired and wireless. We have a Netgear ProSafe that is trunked to a Cisco 2901 performing 'Router-on-a-Stick'. For most internal traffic, it all stays behind the ASA. But for guest traffic, I have a route-map that sets the next-hop address as the outside interface of the ASA. The question is, how can I still permit those users to access our internal DNS servers? Do I need any particular NAT translations, exemptions, DNS doctoring, hairpinning, etc.? I have an ACL on the inside interface that permits traffic from the guest networks to our internal DNS servers, and then the next ACL line denies any other traffic from the guest networks to any of our internal networks.

My laptop is not connecting to the internet, I know that it is not a router problem as my mine PC and Notebook are connecting with no issues.I have removed all router devices as had an new once once it was last working.I tried this morning to set it up again without success. I have compared to setting with my pc and have found the difference is with the IPV6 connectivity.

I am currently configuring an ISR 892 without wifi. I got the start-up config working and am now stuck with zone-based firewalling. I configured four zones: private, dmz and internet-static and internet-dial. The private zone is configured for Vlan1 witch covers one ethernet switch port connected to the LAN. The dmz zone is currently not configured. The internet-static zone is configured for GigabitEthernet0 which connects us to our ISP providing a static IP. Internet-dial is configured for FastEthernet8 and connects to another ISP using a dial-up ADSL line, which is currently not connected. So, in short: I try to connect the private zone to internet-static and get traffic flowing, but can't get this working. The private zone can talk to the router and the router can talk to the internet. I suppose I forgot some basic configuration for the router itself because the zone configuration was done with this config guide: [URL]
This is my current running config:
Current configuration : 6076 bytes

I've searched the forums and found similar problems that relate to mine but after trying done of their solutions with no success I decided to make a new thread. This problem started 2 days ago with the same network I've been using for about 2 months.I'm running vista sp 1. I use google chrome and when I try to open a page it says unable to connect to proxy server. I changed the lan setting s (unchecked the box for using a proxy server for my lan) and now the page says the dns lookup failed.

I currently have a 20MB down and 2MB internet. I have a Cisco Linksys E4200 with Firmware Version 1.0.05. We have a two bedroom apartment, one of the bedrooms is our office which is by the front door. We have the wireless router and our modem in the office. We have an apple TV in our living room that is connected to the wireless internet. Every time we get random times where the video output is very pixely and seems we are streaming shows/movies on a 56k modem.

I'm currently living in a shared house right now, and for our internet, the landlord has us on Virgin Media's basic package, which in theory should be netting us around 10mb (according to the lady that I spoke to on the phone from there anyway). It comes into the house via a cable, then goes into a modem, and then that modem is connected to a wireless router which pumps it out into the house for everyone (at least it tries to anyway - read on!). That's what I can make out from what I can see at least.
Now, when I connect my laptop to said router via a cable, the internet works fine, and doing speed tests, I get relatively consistent results around the 10mb mark that they should be. However, when I try to use the wireless with my laptop, even sat right next to the router, most of the time, the internet doesn't seem to work at all. Webpages just load indefinitely, or I get an error message saying that the connection was reset whilst the page was loading.
On rare ocassions where the wireless does work, and I run a speed test, then I'm lucky to see results close to 1mb, and in my wireless properties, the speed usually says something like 18mbps.

ISP : ShawPC >> SMC Modem/Router >> Netgear Router >> PS3 and Denon Stereo Receiver ( Both hardwired to Netgear Router), 2 Laptops and 2 Phones connected wireless- The reason I do not use the SMC as a router is because I was getting terrible wireless signal- When everything is working properly I am getting great speedsroblem : I keep losing internet connectivity. On the wireless devices I still have have great signal strength but no connectivity. I need to run netgear genie oripconfig/release/renew to get it back. It always comes back but this is annoying. It also does this on the PS3 and Denon which are hardwired to the router..as with the other ones if I reset the router or do a connection test on the PS3 it will fix it. Finds IP but no internet connectivity. My PC has also started to lose connectivity and I need to do a ip release/renew and it comes back fine. The fact that this is happeneing on my PC would lead me to believe that it may be an issue with the Modem/router. Are there some settings I need to change on it since I am only using it for modem purposes? I have disabled the wireless on it but I don't think that would be the issue anyways

I have basically started fresh, from a clean image. We bought these with the expectation that we would be able to configure them using the GUI for what we need, which up till this point doesn’t seem to be the case.I will tell you how I have this setup, I have our ADSL going to a modem acting as a bridge with a static IP supplied by the ISP. If i connect a laptop to that modem and set the static ip on the laptop, I get internet access fine.So I then connect the modem to ethernet0/0 and the laptop to ethernet 0/1 I connect to the ASDM and run the startup wizard with the following:
· Outside ip : 87.87.87.87 255.255.252.0 (this works on the lappy straight to the modem)
· Inside ip : 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.0
· No dmz

I recently bought an ASA on eBay the plan was to try and learn how to configure them and get more familar with Cisco's ASA hardware etc.
I want it to do the routing for my home network. The way things are setup at the moment is pretty standard. I have an ADSL modem which is also a router which was provided by my ISP (Orange).
The first thing I did was change the router to be in "modem only" mode which seems to have worked. I then got the ASA to use PPPOE by following this guide [URL] I assume that worked as it is authenticating with the ISP and I'm getting a puplic IP address assigned to the outside interface. The default gateway is being set by the "ip address pppoe set route" command which I have verified with the "show route" command. The problem I'm having is that even though I'm getting a public IP I can't ping any thing from the ASA I've pinged 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.4.2 using the outside interface as the source but I'm not getting any responce. I have tried changing the MTU a few times to different amounts on the outside interface with no luck.

I have an older PC using cable internet to connect. It works fine. There is no router, no other PCs, no network.I built a new PC. I installed WinXP Pro SP2 from a USB drive. I also installed the latest version of the mobo drivers including those for the Realtek NIC. When I swap the cat5 cable from that goes between the cable modem and my old PC to the new PC, the new PC does not connect to the internet. After a reboot the IP address is a 169.254.x.y address. Here's what I have tried so far to fix the problem.

I got this message on my laptop, complete with the little yellow triangle hovering over my little internet icon at the bottom of my screen. The weird part is that my desktop computer and my mom's laptop (both of which are using wireless from the same router) can both successfully connect.I'm using my mom's laptop to type this. I tried unplugging the router and plugging it back in and it didn't work my laptop still won't connect. Here's a few of the facts:
- coincides with a recent installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2, which I have not done.
- I'm using Windows 7, just FYI
- My big desktop computer already has an Ethernet cable connecting its built-in modem directly to the router. Someone on another site suggested using an Ethernet cable to connect my laptop directly to the router, but my laptop is a little bit of a junkpile and doesn't have anywhere to plug one in.
- When running Windows Network Diagnostic it tells me that there's a "problem with the wireless adapter or access point" which would be the router. I've tried resetting the router, but it didn't work.
when I was running a virus scan on my laptop. About halfway through the scan it had picked up 3 infected objects. I was using a different computer while I waited for the scan to finish and when I came back in my laptop had mysteriously shut itself down. I rebooted it and got the whole "Windows was not properly shut down" thing with the options to restart in Safe Mode and such. I just restarted it regularly and when I got back on that's when I noticed that I had no internet. I re-ran the virus scan and got rid of all of them. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with my lack of internet, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

I did some checking around and look at my modem and the DSL light refuses to light up.I disconnect the phone and modem separator and plug the modem in directly to the phone line. Still no DSL connection. When i connect the phone directly to the phone line (and when it goes through the seperator) it still works, but i hear strong grainy static through the phone.

Had a virus that I cleaned on my laptop. After virus removal I can connect to my FIOS router both wired and wireless but cant get to the internet. Can ping laptop and laptop can ping desktop. I have no issue on my desktop machine getting to the internet only issue is with laptop. I have disabled/removed all apparent firewalls/antivirus. Using Windows XP SP3 and both Firefox and IE. Proxy is off in Firefox and IE. . Have reset network adapters. Network adapters are set to get DNS and IP automatically. IP Config shows IP address and the DHCP and DNS Server addresses are correct (FIOS Router). Windows Firewall is disabled. Something is stopping me from going outside the local network.

I've been happily using my DIR-655 for over 6 months now without any problems. Last night, wireless internet was working great but today it has stopped working. I plugged my modem directly into my computer and the internet worked fine, so it does not appear to be the modem. I also tried hard connecting my computer to the router (modem connected to router) but that didn't work. One sign of trouble is that the "globe" LED on the front of the router is slowly blinking orange (it had been blinking blue since I got it). I CAN access my WAN and I CAN access the router wireless but I CANNOT access the internet wireless. Here is what I tried, all without any success:
-Rebooting the router
-Turned off wireless encryption
-Checked firmware (current)
-Ensured my PPPoE IP address was correct
-Reset router to factory settings and recreated my WAN

I can not connect to the internet either by WiFi or ethernet connection on my XPS L501X 64bit running Windows 7. This problem suddenly occurred after a failed microsoft update. The Action Centre lists a number of problems including;
Host Process for Windows Services........................................Windows Update installation problem
Microsoft Malware Protection Command Line Utility (3).......Mp Telemetry
Microsoft Management Console...............................................Stopped working
Network Diagnostics Framework (4).......................................Unable to diagnose/repair problems
Windows Wireless Lan 802.11 Extensibility Framework....Stopped working
I can copy the technical details to Notepad and send them if this would be useful in determining the problem and finding a solution.
Of course, with no internet connection, I have been unable to report the problems, check for solutions or run any online diagnostics and am using another laptop to communicate.
I have downloaded and installed the latest WiFi adaptor (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000) and driver to no avail. I used the Intel updater wizard thingy which uninstalled the old adaptor and installed the new one. I have not updated the Realtec PCIe GBE Family Controller driver, but when I click on update driver, it indicates the the latest driver is installed. All devices are listed as working properly.

I have configured ASA 5505 for remote access VPN to allow remote user to connect to the officce LAN from remote locations. VPN working fine, users can access offce LAN and sahred resource etc but once they connected to VPN, they can not browse the internet ? Internet browsing stop working as soon as their VPN client connnect with ASA 5505 t, once they are disconnected from the VPN , again they can browse the internet.
Does ASA 5505 blocks the internet browsing for VPN users ? Is there anything else I need to congfure to make sure VPN users can browse internet? Do I need to configure Split Tunnleing , NATing or routing for the VPN users?

ATTACHED: My current running config with sensitive info taken out.
I have a Cisco 881 Router connected to cable modem. The router is running IOS 15.1.
I have it configured exactly the same way as an 877 router running IOS 12.1 which does not exhibit the problem. Just a standard LAN/WAN config with basic routing/firewall.
When the internet connection is lost for any reason and then re-established the router will no longer pass internet traffic unless I reboot the router.
I used Cisco Configuration Professional to configure the router. The key setting seems to be the Router Static Route. We have a static IP and I set static route with the "make this the default route" checked. Then I set forward (next hop) to the IP my ISP gave me as their gateway.
This is exactly the same way I set the 877 router using the same ISP but in a different office.
Every so often the internet is lost due to power outage or the ISP doing something on their end and every time that happens we have to reboot the router which is quite annoying.
I did not have the "permanent route" check mark checked but I do not have it checked on the router that does not have the problem either so I don't think that's it.
When I set the static route to "interface" then added the static IP of the next hop it will continue to work for incoming connections but not outgoing.

The computer has a strange habit of dropping my internet connection after it's been turned on for a while. I've already checked to make sure that the setting which allows windows to turn the wireless adapter off to save power is disabled, and I've set my laptop up to use a static IP address which no other device should be using. I'm connecting via wifi. The only way I know to fix the problem is to restart the computer whenever the problem presents itself.I have a motorola surfboard modem and a linksys e1000 router. The computer always says that I am connected and that I have full signal, but it displays an exclamation point over the internet icon saying 'no network access'

When attmpting to Repair connection, Windows is then unable to fix the problem. All other devices work normally on the home network (Laptop, Xbox360).
I have also tried 3 different Restore points, but Windows states it is unable to restore to this point and to select another Restore point on each attempt.
I am running Windows XP SP3 on a Dell XPS
