Cisco WAN :: QOS On Etherchannel In 3560?
Jan 25, 2012
I am trying to see how can configure MQC in Etherchannel. I know that i need to do this in the memeber physical interfaces of the etherchannel. The etherchannel is a trunk port allowing few VLANs. SVIs are created in the switch for this VLANs as well. tell me where i need to apply the QOS ? Is it under the member physical interfaces ?.
What will happen if QOS applied under the SVIs?

Is it possible to have ether-channel across 2 switches? As an example, having a server with 2 ports connect, 1 port to Switch-A and the other to Switch-B and then use those two links on the sepatate switches but to the same server to form an Etherchannel.
The Switch-A and Switch-B are 3560 series

I been practicing with the configuration of layer 3 etherchannel configuration and i am facing a problem here. I have two 3560 switches and i want a layr 3 ether channel configuration setup between the first 2 ports of bothe the switches. I assign IPs to the Port-channel 1 of both the switches "10.1.1.1 /24 and 10.1.1.2 /24" but i am unable to get a successful ping. what am i doing wrong. below are the configs for bothe of my switches.

I am using 3560.IP rouitng is being turned off on this.Curious to know if I will create etherchannel or port channel.I think etherchannel.Correct me if I am wrong. On connecting switches I have vlan10,20,30 to be allowed.I am sure I need to allow these all vlan in 10,20,30 which are on the trunk port on each side switch.Post that will add channel-port lacp and make it in active mode.Is that correct. This way traffic will be load-balanced/aggregated on minimum 2 ports who are the part of this.

I'm configuring two etherchannel groups (2 ports in each) on a 3560 switch. I need to trunk multiple vlans over each channel group.
I created the vlan trunks and allowed vlans on each physical interface. I notice that I can also configure the vlan trunks on the port-channel interfaces that were created. Should I configure them under those interfaces, or leave them on the physical interfaces? Relevant config is below:
interface Port-channel1
!
interface Port-channel2

i have made a topology in packet tracer related to etherchannel configuration.i am using 2 3560 switches and 1 2950 switch. Now what i want is to bundle up the redundant links between these 3 switches. The links fa0/1-3 between 2950_1 and 3560_1 switches have been bundled up but when i try to bundle the links fa0/4-6 of 3560_1 to fa0/4-6 of 3560_2 it wont work. i am using channel-group 1 mode desirable between the 3560 switches. secondly if i want to assign ip to port channels then it has to be of same subnet between 2 3560 switches right and it must be same between 2950_1 and 3560_1. But these 2 subnets should be different from one another.

I have a Cisco 4006 (old school) and I am trying to setup etherchannel over 4 port. The issue I am having is flapping, it see's two IP addres on the same MAC address. The reason for this is bonding, so all 4 ports are bonded, but I have two servers that need to send a heartbeat between the two server hence the second IP, and the other IP address to send/recieve.

I have a etherchannel defined between 2 L2 switches using LACP as shown below. The etherchannel works fine, however when I hard code speed/duplex on both ends the etherchannel fails. What is causing this behaviour?

We are implementing the network design between the two sites (OLD Data center and NEW Data Center), scheme in attachement.
We have chosen this scheme on the following criteria:
- A single IP network between the sites (for simplicity migration);
- Fault tolerance via different ISPs.
But the problem is L2 etherchannel doesn't work correctly: When one side port is shutting down, on the other side etherchannel will not rebuild and does not see that link down on the other end. We have tried to use LACP in etherchannel (mode active on ports), but result was the same. Is it on the ISPs side?
Should we use this design or we have to subneting the network and make connections between the data centers classically with L3 channels and OSPF?
The configures of Core ports listed below:
OLD data center core (Cat 6509):
interface GigabitEthernet2/6
description #### TO DATA-CENTER core 1#####
switchport
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan 5
switchport mode trunk
logging event link-status

On my study lab I have got 2 switches a c3560 running IOS and a c2948g-ge-tx running CatOS. Both switches has SFP ports, I would like to configure ether channel between them switches using 2 SFP ports on each switch.
My question is if such configuration is possible and how to configure ether channel so that VLANS can travel between both switches running different operating system. I have tried but it's no working,

Here's the proposed network I have to work with: LAN A >> ASA Cluster >> 2x3750G Stack >> Cross-stack L3 Etherchannel (2x100Mb Circuits) >> 2x3750G Stack >> ASA Cluster >> LAN B Company policy governs that traffic between LAN A and LAN B must now be encrypted. ASA Firewalls have been purchased in advance and will be place into the network as above. Src-dst-ip load-balancing is currently in place on the Layer-3 Eherchannel. How can I encrypt the traffic using the ASAs and still ensure proper load-balancing over the circuits? I was about to configure a IPSec/GRE Tunnel between the ASA Clusters but I'm concerned that the tunnel will not be load-balanced over the ether channel based on the single source and destination IPs I will need to configure.

We have configuration of Etherchannel in Cisco 6509 connecting to Cisco 6513 switch, both running on CatOS. This is a group of 8 ports in 6509, due to some reasons one port in Etherchannel group went bad. I have disabled that bad port now. Now I have to delete that bad port from etherchannel group (First task) and add a new port to the group ( 2nd task). I have tried many cisco documents to completely delete the etherchannel port, but no use.

The channel consist of two port on both side and is in trunk mode, encapsulation dot1q.Now i have the necessity to connect the 2950 to the other catalyst, 4506B. So, i copy the same configuration on the 4506B, but when I unplug the two rj45 cables from the catalyst 4506A to plug them in the 4506B the etherchannel doesn't go up in any way.

Is there any limitations associated with such a cross-stack etherchannel configuration. Any particular sequence of configuration involved.

i was just asking if it is possible to create a L3 etherchannel between 2 single 3750 switches that act as our core, (running HSRP for the vlan and with a port-channel between the two) and a new switch stack of 3750s that will be routed to and managed by another party. Only i'd like to have the redundancy of 2 links connecting the new stack. If it is possible are there any best practices or preference in using PAgP or LACP or just going for ON.

I am about to configure 4 Gig ports for EtherChannel. I've been reading about EtherChannel and it seems easy enough to configure. I have a host (server)which I am going to connect to these 4 - gig ports. This is new for me and would like some feedback for those that have used EtherChannel on their layer 2 switches. The gig ports will be an access port with VLAN XX.

I would like to deploy this kind of configuration (See attached network plan). My questions are:
1) is possible to enable etherchannel links between different switches, without stacking links?
2) how is the expected bandwith consumption when I enable etherchannel PAgP or LACP protocol?

We have two 6k5 configured as vss and it is working fine. For each floor we have a 3750 stack. In each 3750 stack we have 4 switches. From the first 3750 we have a fiber link to the first 6k5 and from the fourth switch we have another fiber link to the other 6k5 switch, for each floor/3750 stack, both configured as etherchannel. We installled each 3750 stack/floor in different maintenance windows; in all these installations we have problems configuring the etherchannel. After we configure the etherchannel on 3750 stack and in the vss, the etherchannel does not go up/up. We see the etherchannel up/down; after a lot off work, try and error, configuring shut/ no shut, adding and excluding links from the etherchannel; in any aleatory moment the etherchannel goes up/up and works fine. Is there any bug related with these IOS versions, or is there any right procedure to configure etherchannel from vss to 3750 stack?

I am trying to review the port-channel configuration on a 6500 series. I am issuing the "show etherchannel summary" command and the out put shows the Group, Port-Channel, and Ports. It does not show me the protocol that is in use such as PAgP or LACP. Does this have to do with the Etherchannel in the "On" mode rather than "active", or "Auto"?

We have a problem with the throughput over etherchannel in LACP with 2 or 4 ports. It is iSCSI traffic (vmware esxi 4.1 U3) is going from 2 separate NICs (ports) to the etherchannel (with 2 or 4 ports) that has a SAN connected (Nexenta).
The SAN is configured in passive LACP and the switch is in active LACP. Actually it does not matter if we do LACP or just MODE ON, still same result: ~1GBit/s throughtput in either direction. Like already mentioned, 2 or 4 ports in the etherchannel make no difference, or the configuration of the etherchannel.
I will post some config data below, but here is the question: Why can't we see traffic beyond 1GBit/s? Source and destination are capable of doing much more than that (vmware esxi RAID 5 of 1TB SATA; SAN 16 x 1TB NL-SAS). If we look with CNA, we can see that the traffic is balanced equally over the etherchannel ports. With or without QOS or flowcontrol, no difference. This whole traffic happenes on this switch.

When you aggregate multiple fiber GBICs together on the 3508G, do you configure it as an etherchannel, or as fibre-channel? I've looked around online for hours, but can't find it mentioned anywhere.
