I created a wlan just for our wireless IP phones.I assigned an interface I created which in turn was set to a specific port on company 2504 WLC. Connecting switchport is set to trunk. Right now I can't ping the voice wlan interface.

Is it possible to create an virtual interface on the WLC that points only on this port?
(we would like to have a physical separation for the Internet traffic only and encrypt the capwapp up to the WLC).
Firewall: ASA 5510

I've been tasked with breaking up a network that has run out of IP's, and have decided to use VLANs to accomplish this. I have to use an ASA5510 to accomplish all the routing between hosts in different VLANs.Port 48 is trunked to the ASA eth0/0 interface, with VLAN 99 and VLAN 20 tagging packets, VLAN 1 Untagged. Hosts hooked up to appropriate ports on Switch.
What the different between using hsrp on vlan interface and on physical port (routed port) on Cisco 3750 Switch? Wha the benefits?

- packet arrive from vlan ID x on the trunk (on only for this vlan ID)
- source MAC address = xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Thae aim is that the C6500 with never enter into its CAM table this MAC address.I looked at several methos like service policy or vlan filter, but no solution for the moment.
We are looking to possibly purchase 2 RV042G routers. The main goal is to tie 2 sites together (via the internet) utilizing the site-to-site VPN feature.
Here is where it gets a little tricky. Since this device has 2 WAN ports, is it possible to assign a seperate IP address for each from our ISP? Then, what we would like to do is assign a couple LAN ports to have the traffic flow through WAN1 and the other LAN ports to flow through WAN2. The LAN addressing can be on the same subnet or seperate.
I've been using a WRT120N on a local area connection.The WRT120N acts as a gateway and also to connect to the PPOE connection, via a bridged adsl modem.I've noticed that the LAN port 1 was flashing although the network cable was disconnected from the physical port. I've restarted a few times but to no avail as well. Ever since that, I've noticed that connection through cable are unstable and hard.Now, I'm not able to reset or upgrade the router's firmware.Is there any other way to be done so that I can get this router working as normal again.

Is there a way to configure our HP 5406 with an absolute rate limit on "WAN" port for that server's IP range? We are installing a 2504 with management on VLAN2. The management port is on interface 1 which is attached to a layer 3 3750. From other VLANs in the network we cannot manage the 2504 controller with the web manager. We are running the latest code, 7.2.103.0, since we are using 3600 APs. We have a TAC case open, but spent 3 hrs with them and they can't figure out the problem. TAC did some debugging and saw that the 2504 is ARPing for the address of the PC on the other VLAN instead of sending the packet to its default gateway. How to get success with the management interface on a VLAN and managing the controller from another VLAN?

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy problem, in a nutshell, is that clients do not get an IP from an external DHCP server when connected to a guest VLAN.
My current setup is:
Native VLAN 1 (192.168.2.x)
2008 DHCP Servers
2504 WLC

The guest WLAN just uses WPA and a PSK and is set to interface vlan101 There rest of the 2504 config is default.
The ports that the WLC and APs are connected to are tagged on the correct VLANs. (is that even necessary for the AP now?)
Ive changed the interface config around a hundred times now with no luck. No matter what a client will not get an IP.
Could this be due to the 2504 and ASA both acting as DHCP relays? Ive tried setting the IP of the DHCP on the dynamic interface to many different things with no luck.
vlan interface and physical interface (that is serving for this vlan ) have different input/output counters, there is only one physical interface in this vlan .

Exmaple: Port 1 is used as controller management interface (untagged) - AP's are connected to the same VLAN Port 1 is used for Guest Traffic (VLAN 3 tagged) Port 2 should be used to manage the WLAN Controller from the internal LAN. (tested with untagged, tagged, same issue)
with this Setup it is possible to ping the Port 2 IP-Address from the internal LAN but if you try to connect to the controller, the Browser shows "Site not reachable".
I also enabled "Management via Wireless" but without success. I also tried to add the "management" VLAN as tagged on the management Interface with the same effect, the controller is not manageable from the internal LAN. On 5508 WLAN Controller i have an similar setup, but with LAG Port enabled. There this works.
The only interface were i can manage the WLAN controller is from the management Interface.

I am creating trunk ports with limited access to VLAN 300, 600, and 700.
There is two interfaces connected from the 3750's(one on each physical stack member) to the 2960.I have the physical interfaces configured exactly the same.

Should I keep the configuration on the physical ports and not configure the Port-Channel Interfaces? Do I need to configure port-channel load balancing? Is the channel-group mode sufficient? Goal is to basically create 2 links to the 2960 to double the bandwidth and provide redundancy.
My customer wants each ACE4710 (of a highly available cluster) to have its own, dedicated port for management purposes.
According to documentation, IP addressing can be applied to VLAN interfaces, so in order to satisfy the requirement, I should make one port belong to an "access VLAN X", and then apply IP addressing to the corresponding "interface VLAN X". This should satisfy my customer´s requirement in an indirect way.
But... ¿ Can´t I just configure IP address on one of the 4 ethernet ports in order to save the work of building the aforementioned VLAN? I am asking this since I do not have access to a real box in order to verify.
Can a 2504 wlc use a vlan ids of 190X? I have found that it supports 512 vlans but I have not found any restrictions in the id used.Vlan id 190X is distributed by the isp (they have the ASAs in their central site) so if it is not supported I must prepare a vlan transfer between switches.

I have this Cisco Switch: SRW2048-K9-NA. When I log into the Web GUI, I am provided the two options mentioned above for VLAN Management. I have fiddled with the two options and they seem identical to me. Is there really a difference, maybe better flexibility?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHave a quick question regarding inter-vlan routing on a 3750. Overview of network is ISP --> ASA --> 3750 (acting as my core and default gw). I have 5 vlan interfaces on my 3750, all w/ 192.192.x.x subnets, a 6th w/ 192.168.100.x, and a 7th w/ 192.168.200.x. I have enabled "ip routing" on the switch and can successfully ping from subnet A to subnet B as long as both devices are using the correct DG for their vlan, which is the switch. I have a few ports that are trunked as well that go to ESX hosts which break out the vlans according to the subnet the vm should be attached to. The ASA is set to nat internal traffic for all the vlans.
Now my question: short of applying an ACL to each vlan interface to block traffic from other 192.192.x.x subnets is there a better way to accomplish this? I want my 192.168.10.x subnet to be able to reach all the subnets, but don't want 192.192.10.x to be able to talk to 192.192.20.x for example. I was thinking to create an acl like this:
access-list 120 permit ip 192.192.10.0 0.0.0.255 access-list 120 deny ip 192.192.0.0 0.0.255.255 192.192.10.0 0.0.0.255access-list 120 permit ip any 192.168.100.0 0.0.0.255 192.192.10.0 0.0.0.255
and then applying this to the interface for the appropriate vlan.
Need to limit the amount of bandwidth a specific VLAN can use on a 802.1q trunk port. Situation is that we have a pair of Catalyst 4506 switches which have 802.1q trunk ports into a Checkpoint Firewall, this in turn is connected to a managed WAN router (to which I can't apply a QoS policy).If the 4506 was routing the traffic it would be easy to setup a class-map to match the IP traffic and then QoS the traffic, but the VLAN in question is trunked directly into the firewall (no L3/IP presence on the 4506 next hop for all clients on this VLAN is the firewall).What I need to do is restrict any traffic from this specific VLAN to 10Mbps on the uplink to the Checkpoint Firewall so it cannot impact the onward WAN.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI have set up 2 DHCP pools and 2 VLANs (1 *the native* for data / 1 VLAN for voice). When I use the command "switchport voice vlan 20" the port disapear from the show vlan brief list. When I use the "switchport access vlan 20" it shows up in the show vlan brief in the correct VLAN and gives the phone an IP. I assume that using the access instead of the voice is wrong and the phones would not configure correctly. But when I use the access the phone goes to the next step and tells me the TFTP files are not found. Why does the port disapear from the VLAN list?

I've read some conflicting things on the new 2504 WLC's. Some things indicate all 4 ports are fully useable, while others indicate perhaps only 1 or 2. I think I've read in product documentation that it support a max of two ap-manager interfaces. Does, for sure, all 4 ports are useable? I'm thinking of the following configuration:
Port 1: management interface and first ap-manager interface
Port 2: second ap-manager interface
Port 3: first dynamic/client interface
Port 4: second dynamic/client interface
I'm planning on deploying my ap's in h-reap mode with a max of 25 ap's per 2504. Since I'm using h-reap, bandwidth shouldn't be much of an issue so I'm also considering trimming it down to using just two physical ports as follows so I can take up fewer gig switchports which are scarce at many of my locations:
Port 1: management interface and first ap-manager interface
Port 2: first and second dynamic/client interface
I've always deployed 4400's and 5508's with LAG so I haven't had to think about this much until now.
I have a question about 2504 deployment.Two WLC's , one will be acting as primary controller, second as secondary controller.
There will be two firewalls with High Availability between them. Ok, if primary controller will go down, we would need to wait about 2minutes, and AP's would join secondary controller.
But if there is a problem with firewall? Etc. FW 1 goes down. Is it possible with WLC 2504 to use it's second port as backup port ? And use the same IP address between them?
Because if we configure the second port with different IP address, we would need to wait about 2minutes, because AP's is in "rejoining" mode )(To use second port as backup, but have the same IP address on it ( like put these two interfaces into the same "vlan") , because this would be really great, if one Firewall goes down, we would still will be using the same wireless controller.)
I want DMZ1 talk to VLAN99 with port 1433.
