Cisco Wireless :: 2600 AP Throughput With Client Link 2.0
Nov 9, 2012
What is the maximum throughput of a 2600 AP when using CLient Link 2.0. I see that the datasheet states that it is 450mbps, however, from my understanding of transmit beamforming (client link 2.0), when traffic is "beamformed" to a client it cannot use spatial multiplexing on the same antenna as well. If this is the case, with the 2600 only having 3 transmit antennas, does this mean that the max throughput to a client when using clientlink is 300mb ?
If not, how the AP transmit at 450mbps and beamforms at the same time.

I have a strange issue with clients connected to a WiFi network.I have configured AP in FlexConnect mode and 2 SSID's. After a reboot of the AP the network is stable for almost 45 mins. Then each client will go UP and Down, mostly with a delay of 5 mins.
What could be the source of this. The clients are Windows CE handheld with fixed IP adres. I already configure persitent client and have play arround with APR timers as well. Thereby an Windows desktop or an iPad has less connectivity issues but even they expert pakcteloss once in severall minutes.
Session timer is turned off
The iPad for example can play music, but each 5 mins you hear a little hickup and 2 subsecond ping are loss.
Controller version is 7.3

My first wireless router, which I still have and works perfectly, was a DIR-601, A1, fw v1.00na. It has always been reliable and worked great, save for being a little weak on the signal range. Back when I got it I knew little about networking period, let alone wireless routers- so I never tweaked anything on it. Now it's almost 4 years later. Being a little more knowledgable, and my family creating A LOT more traffic on my network, I decided some upgrades were in order. First I called COX to upgrade my speed too, which led me to having to purchase a new Motorolla SB6121 modem- and everything was great. However, aside from the same old dead spots in my house, I was starting to realize the limitations of my 601 with regards to handling the traffic load. Since I never had an issue with my 601, I decided to stay loyal to D-Link. After, albeit, a small amount of research... I decided on the 655. It fit the budget, and I read some decent reviews on it regarding gaming. Plus, from what I've read, I didn't really see any benifit to justify a dual band router for what I do. Anyway, my new 655, B1, fw v2.05NA has solved all of my wireless issues and handles our traffic perfectly, except for one slight problem- my wired PS3. I have Cox ultimate, which here in Nevada is up to 150Mbps, and wired my laptop is getting 107Mbps download- pretty consistently with the 655, and around 100 with the 601. My PS3 on the other hand, went from 27 to 32Mbps wired with my 601, to only getting 8 to 15Mbps wired to the 655- and a lot of lag on certain online games. It seems that out of all of our devices, my PS3 is the only one that doesn't like the 655. I really hesitate to DMZ my PS because of the risks, but at this point I'm almost desperate enough to try anything. I hooked the 601 back up for now for the PS3 performance...but we are REALLY missing the wireless and traffic handling performance of the 655!!

I've setup my nano router in client mode and successfully connected it to my existing wireless network by manually setting it's IP address to 192.168.1.2. The existing router has the IP address 192.168.1.1.
I know this has worked as I'm able to access the web management page from any computer in the house by visiting the IP address 192.168.1.2. So far so good.
However, my problem is that the nano router cannot speak to the internet. If I login to the web management page and go to diagnostics, I can ping every other device on the network fine, but I can't ping anything outside the network (e.g. 8.8.8.8 or [URL].
I've tried in vain to get this setup correctly, all I can assume is that the nano router isn't correctly determining that the existing router (192.168.1.1) is where it should be routing all external requests and they're just getting lost, but there's no configuration for that on the web management pages.

Device in question: siemans C610 IP voip phone
Configuration:
* The C610 is directly connected to TD W8968 via the ethernet port number 3 >> ethernet port number 1 is connected to the devolo homeplug 200AVPLUS . The PC is at the other end of the homeplug network
* The DHCP address starts at 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.199.
Symptom:
1. It takes a long time (about 2-3 minutes) for the C610IP to obtain the IP address of 192.168.1.100 after the synchronisation of the ADSL line is finished 2. In the DHCP client list, I could only see the IP address of the PC (192.168.1.101) but not the C610 IP. However, if I type 192.168.1.100, I could access to the configuration page of the C610 IP. - I only managed to see the C610IP once in the DHCP client list.
I tried to unplug -> replug the router but to no avail.

So I've been checking my router DHCP list and I usually use the WPS feature to add devices. I know how many devices I have and which ones are wireless etc. I've made address reservations on all the devices that I have and know of. One feature that really frustrates me (which is missing) is no way to rename a device. My iPhone is named: Reggie's iPhone yet the 4300 picks it up as Unknown... I dont understand why. I've renamed it on the iPhone to different things and restarted it but still it comes up as that. I have 2 Nexus 7s and both come up with wierd names, one is for my wife and one is for me and I wish there was a way to name it proper.
Question is: Will the name edit feature ever get added to it? I dont get why it's not there now, it's not really something major (I have a 5 year old router that even has that... and it cant even support N). It's really frustrating to have to guess and check the devices on my network because most of them come up as unknowns.
Right now I'm trying to located another device that's coming up as unknown and now matter how much I try, since the router lacks any feature to assist finding it, it's really frustrating.
something else i noticed: my DHCP List shows all the devices connected with their IP addresses, yet I went into CMD and was doing a random ping command. I'm able to ping 192.168.0.114 with perfect stats back yet on my DHCP List it shows the highest IP is at 192.168.0.112.... Is something wrong here? Is it supposed to not pick up the IPs it gives out? And of course since there isnt a way to tell if that IP is for a WIFI or ethernet device, I have no idea what that device is...
yet i found another ip address on my network by using the ping command. actually I went ahead and did arp -a to find out all the ips with mac addresses. this is a serious flaw with the security of this router!!

Am trying to use a TP-Link TL-WR702N to connect my Samsung SmartTV to a wireless network, using "client mode".For some reason, the TV refuses to accept it is connected, or even connected to a router. Enabling DHCP on the TP-Link does seem to convince the TV that it is connected to a router, but still not to the internet. Strangely though, I can control the TV via the Android app operating on the local network, so clearly it is connected. I assume the SmartTV is trying to get a response on the local network that the TP-Link is filtering out for some reason, but no idea why.

I'm doing some throughput calculation test between a wireless client and a wired desktop computer, and I'm a bit confused about the result i've got. According to the client's card and the WLC, the client is connected to 802.11g, at a speed of 54Mbps. To perform my test, i'm using IPERF (available here [URL) The result is as follow:
C:iperf>iperf -c ....... -i 1 -t 120
------------------------------------------------------------
Client connecting to ........, TCP port 5001
TCP window size: 64.0 KByte (default)
------------------------------------------------------------
[ 3] local.......port 1266 connected with .......port 5001
[ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
[ 3] 0.0- 1.0 sec 640 KBytes 5.24 Mbits/sec
[ 3] 1.0- 2.0 sec 256 KBytes 2.10 Mbits/sec(code)
As you can see, i'm far away the maximum theorical speed of 802.11g. Any software wich is able to test the throughput of a connection? The client wireless card is a Dlink DWA-652 and the wlc is running code 7.0.116, the AP is a cisco LAP1042N.

we have some (2) HP Notebooks with a Broadcon 4313 b/g/n WLAN Chip and use the latest drivers (2012). This Chip can provide up to 72 mbit/s with 2,4 ghz.
If we connect this notebooks to a Aironet 2600 AP (10 feet distance) the Windows 7 WLAN Dialog shows 72 Mbit/s for 3 seconds and than only 5.5 Mbit. Others (newer) Laptops show 450 Mbit. The WLAN works with WPA2/AES and PSK. The speed doesn't go up, if we copy a big file to the laptop.
Here is the Linktest from the AP to Client (from the WLC 2504 Webinterface):

We have recently deployed Cisco APs (2600 series) in our org. but we are facing alot of bandwidth/speed issues. when a single user is copying or pasting any data into the network, the speed seems ok, but when multiple-users start copying data , so the data-rate speed gets slower and slower as the users are increasing.
Can any one tell me what is the issue? Why the internal data rate speed gets shared between users? i think each user should bydefault get any specific data rate speed, but that is what not happening on our end.

I have a couple of 2600 APs (external antenna) which are getting PoE from my switch but no ethernet. This is happening on both APs. If I connect a laptop to the (cat5e) cable I get ethernet. If i move the AP to another patch lead adjacent to my switch I get ethernet connectivity too. So, change the cable is the answer I thought, however I have exactly the same issue on both APs and each ethernet cable has been reterminated a number of times (straight through). I wonder is the 2600 AP less tolerant to the actual ethernet cable ?
I just swap the cable, however the patch leads have been run (only 15m or so) and have been replaced once - relaying again is not an easy job. It's more a case of reterminating the cable that is already there and as I've already done this a few times on each patch lead and the results are the same each time I'm thinking I'm missing something obvious.

If I do a speed test (bandwidthplace.com) while connected to a remote locations 1140 standalone access point, the download/upload speeds are roughly 100kbps. There are no other devices connected to the access point at the time. Wired PCs on the LAN that the access point is connected to are not having a problem.Pings from the laptop, through the access point, to our central WAN router are at <10ms.The WAN circuit (remote location to headquarters) is 5Mbps. No congestion.Circuit out from headquarters to I'net is 50Mbps. No congestion.Access point and router interfaces show no errors or collisions, etc. The configuration is the same as 28 other standalone access points in 28 different LANs on the WAN. They have no problems.

I have two WLC5508 controllers running 7.0.230.0, which having the two of them probably is inconsequential because all the APs are added to only one controller. The problem I'm facing is that I have several LAP1552E's deployed throughout my facility, and I have several that are doing Ethernet bridging to some Cisco switches using G0. In this, I have a PC at the end of one of these switches, and using Iperf and PingPlotter to get some metrics, and what I'm seeing is >400ms latency with <3 Mbit throughput to the PC. On the 802.11a radios I have 18 Mbit set as mandatory, with everything below disabled and everything above Supported, with all MCS indexes under 802.11n enabled.
My channel is set to 161 with a 40 MHz channel-width, and a power of 3 configured. After many days of trying different power settings, channel settings, and such, I can't get better results than above and my channel utilization stays > 75% at all times. I do have video cameras attached to the other bridges switches, and have video QoS set to Bronze and the cameras configured to ~ 1 Mbit bandwidth maximum. Also, average RAP-MAP distance is ~ 1100 ft and average MAP-MAP distance is 400 ft, with the longest RAP-MAP being 1400 ft and MAP-MAP distance being 875 ft.

I recently bought a WRT160NL router. I have a 10/10 Mbps internet connection, but when I am connected via the router it only gives me ~2.5/1 Mbps speeds. Connecting my computer directly to the "wall" results in 10/10 Mbps speeds. I have tried connecting to the router both wireless and by wire, it makes no difference. The internal wired and wireless speeds are fine, as I have copied files over the internal switch and via the wireless network at relatively high speeds. I have not fiddled with any connection settings except creating a few permanent DHCP leases.

My question relates to how many clients can be connected to a 2600 series AP. The documentation states 200 clients per radio and the AP has three radios. However when my AP gets to 200 it rejects further clients with the following log: [code] I see this exact message many times and each time the radio mac address is the same and the number of clients connected is 199. The same mac address is used for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz so does this AP have a single logical radio covering both 2.4 and 5ghz frequency ranges and is the limit for all connected clients 200?When viewing the AP details under the Wireless tab it only lists one mac address for each AP for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequencies.
