Jun 11, 2013We are planning to upgrade our controller 5508 from 7.0.116.0 to 7.1.91.0. Is this directly possible or i have to put some other image before directly upgrading it?

Cisco Wireless :: 4402 - Data Path Down Control Path Up
May 5, 2010have just set up a WLC 4402 as a Guest WLAN controller on the DMZ of our network. I have successfully managed to get our internal controllers to connect to it, with the exception of 1. it says the control path is up but the data path is down. the other 14 controllers worked fine, and in testing the last one was OK but it is now not working properly. the 2 controllers can ping each other but just won't create the data tunnel. there is a firewall in the middle but that has been set up to allow traffic between the 2 groups of controllers to be unrestricted.
the internal controllers are 4404's and all controllers are running the same version of code. 5.1.151.0.

(Ihave allowed port 97 and ports 16666-16667 both ways), should the ntp be sinked inline iwth other controllers ?,should the Mobility group need to match (already discussed this in another forum but experts suggested they never had to match the mobility group), should i first create the ssid and anchor - at the moment i havent created the ssid to anchor.

- We highly recommend that you back up your controller's configuration files prior to upgrading the controller software. Otherwise, you must manually reconfigure the controller.
- For busy networks, controllers on high utilization, or small controller platforms it is advisable to disable the 802.11a/b/g networks as a precautionary measure.

Aug 18, 2011I have an AIR-AP1242AG-E-K9 which had c1240-k9w8-mx.124-21a.JA loaded, I followed the link below and upgraded with Cisco’s upgrade tool to c1240-rcvk9w8-mx with no problems at all, after the upgrade I could then see the LWAP on the 4402 controller and had it working a treat.Now the problems begin, I brought it into the office where we have 5508 controllers, plug in the LWAP into our management switch and boot it up I get an IP assigned from the DHCP server and the AP goes into discovery mode but never finds the controller.I have logged the boot process but this does not give much away, our other 1100 series AP’s boot fine,

Apr 5, 2013I have a 5508 wireless controller running version 6.0.199.4 (the image installed when the device was shipped) and I am trying to install by tftp version 7.3.112.0
The issue is when using tftpd32 gets to 82% transfered then fails with the error "% Error: Code file transfer failed - Error while writing output file"

May 2, 2013One week ago I use a WLC 5508 to place and replace another WLC 5508 with version 6.0.199.4, when I conect the new WLC all AP´s works OK only 10 dont work and not are recognizes from the WLC with version 7.3.101.0. The fail is the radios stay disabled. All ap´s are AIR-AP1242G-AK9 . See the image below, the only difference this ten AP´s are conected in switches cisco all the rest are connected in switches of ohter vendor. Aug 7, 2012After upgrading my 5508s to 7.2.110.0, they are reporting mobility data path errors to one of my WiSMs running 7.0.235.0.
I get these messages on the 5508s reporting that it can't send a ping to the affected WiSM:

But maybe there is another clue because I also see in the same log these errors referencing the same WiSM:

Why is the controller trying to SSH to another controller? Was some SSH related feature added to 7.2 that has been accidentally enabled?

Apr 3, 2013I have a 5508 controller, just upgraded from 6.0.182 to 7.0.98.0. Also LAG was switched off directly after upgrade.
Since the upgrade none of the 1142 LAPs are associating with the controller. I can see they are being issued IPs by the internal DHCP but putting a console cable and watching I am getting:
Not in Bound state.

One Ap prior to the upgrade was on a static IP and that connected through without any problem, (it was an 1131 though, but I dont think that is the issue...)

Nov 10, 2011Just recently upgrade our 2 5508 controllers from 6.0.199.0 to 7.0.116.0. Since that upgrade, I have a handful (8 to 10) of wireless laptops that now refuse to associate to any access points. The thing these laptops all have in common is some variation of the Intel Wifi Link AGN cards. I have about 200 other clients out there working just fine.
I've tried everything under the sun that I can think of. Patches, drivers, the whole sh'bang.
Is there a known issue with 7.0.116.0 and these particular cards?

Aug 16, 2012We have a Cisco 4400 series wireless controller deployed as a Guest Anchor in a private DMZ. We have 13 foreign controllers anchored to this for Guest Wireless. We recently anchored 17 additional controllers to this Anchor controller. Since we have done that, periodically on just 3 of the foreign controllers, the control path shows down on the mobility peer, then comes back up. We have had this issue in the past, but it resolved itself. However, now we are seeing this issue again. Are we reaching a limit on EoIP tunnels? I have read that there is a max of 71, and that is per controller, not SSID. We do have a firewall in the middle but all necessary ports are open.
We have had this issue for quite sometime, it just does not happen frequently. Since we have added the additional controllers, it is now happpening very often, but only with 3 controllers. There is not much in common with these 3 controllers. 2 are 4400 series, and 1 is a 5508. All 3 are local on a campus LAN, different networks. Could it have anything to do with memory or utilization?

Jun 15, 2012I thought I would leave a message on a problem. I did two chats to the support desk and this was not brought up and it is obvious. I just installed the 4200v2 as a replacement for a NetGear. I bought for the n performance and the USB for a shared disk/media file server. I connected a640G Western Digital My Book to the USB. I was able to see the drive in the asp interface of the router, but I kept getting the "error code: 0x80070035 network path not found" message. My computer is a 6 month old HP with Windows 7 running Bitdefender Internet. I found I could get to the drive from my wife's Toshiba (only used for browsing, so minimal security), so I thought it was a firewall issue (also what Cisco said). After doing some Internet mining, I found that the issue is the Netbios setting in IPv4. My PC had the setting Default, which requires the DHCP server to provide the setting and apparently this was not set by the 4200. Without Netbios the disk cannot be mapped. Changing this to NetBios "enabled" solved the problem. This can be reached by going into the Control panel:Network and Sharing Center. Click on the connection (either local area or wireless), then open the properties, click on the TCPv4, Click properties, then advanced. Go to the Win tab and select Netbios enabled.

Sep 29, 2011I have two Windows 7 computers and neither one will successfully upgrade a 1242 AP to LWAP. However, I go to a coworker's XP machine and run the tool without issues. On Windows 7 I keep receiving the error message of ACL or Firewall is blocking. I have added rules and then even tried disabling the firewalls completely on both computers and still no success.
