We have 4x AP1142 standalone APs in WDS mode with roaming and RADIUS from Windows AD for auth.Everything works as expected apart from two APs that frequently reset Dot11Radio0 interface. The other two are fine.
The config on all APs is identical, version of IOS is the same accross all APs (12.4(23c)JA3). The only way to get reset inteface back up is to "reload". [code]
We have two autonomous access point 1142 series running 12.4(21a)JA1 and randomly the Dot11Radio0 interface goes into reset/down state. At first I thought it was something related to power consumption issue on the switch, but looking at the remaining (w) I have plenty.
I have deployed AIR AP1142 model access points in various locations and some of them get their Radio0 going down intermittenly and the only way is to do a reload. The log just shows that the radio0 went down.
I would like to know if it is feasible to put those Aironet AP with internet antenna like AP1142 / AP1042 in a enclosure box (Like IP66 grade) box. Will those enclosure box absorb the Radio signal from the AP? or the Radio signal can still survive after passing the box but the Signal Strength be degraded only?
Several 1130AG AP, auto IOS, are showing the same three errors;
1. 'Error' Interface BVI1 Changed to up 2. 'Error' Interface Fast Ethernet0 Changed to up 3. 'Error' Interface Dot11Radio0 Changed to up
ATTACHED image
Why these interfaces coming 'up' would be an 'error'? Seems almost like hardware failure/s. So we have been investigating on several 1130AGs bought from different places, with different configs and still get the errors. The APs appear to 'work' (i.e. basic config, wireless working, clients assoss., data flows to internet and back through APs) but the error causes the event log to show 'error' and for the status LED to turn 'yellow', instead of 'light green' (light green when working normally and no clients assos).
I have worked with many cisco APs and never ran across these two errors.
At first I thought it was a power issue, as the AP will boot up in low power if it doesnt think it's getting enough power, which could cause the IOS error possibly. But all of our APs are powered by wall plug cisco 48v OEM plugs, no POE injectors or switches. We even changed the settings in power of the IOS to 'pre-compatiable' POE and similar and still recieve the error and yellow LED status light. We looked into this power issue because we wanted to rule out if these was what was producing the errors that were reporting.
The second thing we did was setup the test APs with a very basic config, one ssid, no security, as to rule out a config error and also, no config will make the radios disabled, so without a basic config the APs cant be tested anyway (since the radios are now disabled from default). so we tested very basic configs and still getting the error and yellow LED (which all manuals say it should be light green normally working and no clients). all config changes brought wireless up and we can connect clients and data flows but still the errors stay and yellow LED once all clients disconnect. Note; when clients connect the yellow LED turns to light green, but thats not the colors the manual states they should be which is odd).
Third, a couple engineers suggested this error was from the AP scanning channels to choose the least congested (default config) and it will pick a channel but produce this error still and go yellow. We changed the configs to the least congested channels and it reboots and still gets these errors.
We have tried several IOS software packages, some newer, some older, all auto. though, no LAP.
We googled the errors but could only find ONE post with these errors. Some engineers said these errors are 'normal' and they have seen them before, but theres nothing on the web about the errors and we have owned 20-40 different cisco IOS APs and never seen this, and we have the same issues with 4 1130AGs, all in almost new condition, bought from different places.
Unless you have opened a 1130 many people dont know the status LED is actually 3 LEDs (one assembly with 3 micro LEDs, blue, green and red) that combine in color (the micro LEDs light up in different intensities causing many final color combintations), and the LEDs colors mix together via a plastic light guide on the top to show the status LED, and we believe the error is causing the status LED color to be off because the error is making the yellow light up and mix with the other colors causing all the other colors to be incorrect. we have researched trying to clear the error by 'clear logging' CLI command, hoping that may clear out the interface error and turn the yellow LED off because there would be no log of the error, but we have not succeded.
I have a 1142 that I purchased that needs to be set to factory defaults so that I can configure it. I do an escape at the boot sequence and I get to the
ap:
prompt, the reset instructions that Cisco provides says that I should rename the old config.txt and reboot and that I will then be able to start my reconfig. The problem is that I can't find a config.txt file in the flash space:
I have a (old) 1231 that I would like to reuse, but no one remembers the password. how to recover a password from this model AP or how to reset the device to factory default?
I got 4 aironet 1310 Πbut i don't have password into Enable mode!. I follow this document "Password Recovery Procedure for the Cisco Aironet Equipment.pdf" to recovery password. It succeed reset password to default Πbut it also reset Previous setting to default.
Can I reset aironet 1310 password and keep Previous setting?
I have a Cisco 1142N configured in autonomous mode.I'm running on:Cisco IOS Software, C1140 Software (C1140-K9W7-M), Version 15.2(2)JA, RELEASE SO FTWARE (fc1)
I can loggon to the web interface but it won't show me th expected status information.
If I enable both radio interfaces on new 892W with integrated access-point 801 the radio interfaces are reseting every 30 seconds. I have already tried different IOS version 12.x and 15.x on the router and the integrated ap. Also tried a a configuration from another 892W, which is working fine on the other router. Still same issue. If I disable one of the interfaces, doesn't matter which, the access point ist working fine. With both enabled log of the ap shows:
Mar 8 19:09:26.403 MEZ: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to reset Mar 8 19:09:27.583 MEZ: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to down Mar 8 19:09:28.175 MEZ: %LINK-6-UPDOWN: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to up Mar 8 19:09:28.203 MEZ: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Dot11Radio1, changed state to reset
How can I enter into "interface configuration" on Aironet 1130AG, AIR-LAP1042N?When I put following commands in enable conf tinterface Dot11Radio1 but, it fails and I cannot enter into "interface configuration".How can I do this ?The reason why I enter into conf tinterface Dot11Radio1 because I want to disable cdp via CLI ( serial console).
I am facing a problem with my access point AIR-LAP1141N-E-K9, which was converted from LWAPP to autonomous, radio Interface Dot11Radio0 is going to reset down state very frequently.AP is connected to WS-C3560G-24PS (POE) switch. [code]
Our office has 4 Cisco Aironet 1140 access points mounted on the ceiling. They are all powered via PoE. Every few days 3 of the 4 access points hang and have to be rebooted. When they hang I am not able to connect to their web interface to check the logs. The fourth, for some reason, always seems to stay alive.
I checked the configuration for all AP's and "Hot Standby" is disabled They are all using static IP addresses. I've tried 2 different banks of static IP addresses and 3 of 4 still hange so I don't think this is an IP conflict. I have saved the configurations and compared them and they are all identical, where possible.
They all have software version: 12.4(21a)JA1
They all have bootloader version: 12.4(23c)JA1
I have tried to download the latest software/firmware, but unfortunately I do not have a valid service contract in place with Cisco and therefore can't download the latest version. All of our CISCO hardware was purchased from Amazon resellers but no luck. I have also tried to contact Cisco and they can't seem to assist either. How I can get a valid service contract that information would also be very useful!!!
why 3 of our 4 access points would hang? When they hang, I can't login to the web interface and the logs seem to reset when I reset each access point. I have also set up an rsyslog server and I don't see a log entry that would indicate a problem.
I have a cisco aironet 1300 series and i need to reset it back to factory default. the directions say push the mode button while the access point is off and then turn it on while the mode button is down.
This is regarding an issue with one of my access point. The access point 1252 is autonomous one running the IOS version C1250 Software (C1250-K9W7-M), Version 12.4(10b)JDA3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
The status of the dot11Radio 0 interface is showing as RESET. I have pasted the interface brief details below.
There are two access points of Cisco AIR-AP1142 (4dbi, 2.4GHz). Settle down at height of 12 meters and at distance of 36 meters from each other. Whether will cover access points a zone on the earth in between? And on what distance on the sides?
I bought cisco AP (air-ap1142-e-k9) and we know this ap works with 802.11a/g/n same the description note on the package cartoon but my problem is when i configure that ap its work only with 802.11a/g i tries to make it works with 802.11n but fail .
I have 2 1142 autonomous APs that I'm trying to set up for bridging. I have a building just across the street and these would work wonderfully to extend the LAN to that building for the few users that will be located there. The distance is only 200'. That's not my issue right now as I'm still in the lab trying to get these things to talk. I've been through the Cisco documentation on this and just can't seem to get them to work. Here are the requirements:
1. I'll have 2 or 3 vlans that will be used by clients
2. I'll have 1 VLAN for network management
3. I'm not using BSSIDs
4. Is it possible to utilize the 5ghz radio for bridging and still have your 2.4ghz clients be able to connect or am I required to set up bridging on both bands?
5. There's also this option for "workgroup bridging". Am I getting confused on this. I've read through it. It doesn't look like the way I need to do things.
I'm attaching the root side configuration. Version is 124-25d.JA2. The non root side is version 124-21a.JA1.
On the non root side, I get error "dot11-4-no_valid_infra_ssid: No infrastructure SSID configured. Dot11Radio1 not started.
I have a Cisco AP1142 Standalone AP at two of my locations. However both of these are being rendered useless every night and require a reeboot to correct the issue, because of the high level of noise and vibrations coming from the extremly loud bands that play there, Someone sugested an enclosure stuffed with insulation but Im afriad of overheating the AP.
Two months ago I installed a WLC5508 with sw r7.0.116.0 and we installed 8 AP1142 as a start.
10 days the customer calls and says that the wlc logs error messages that says there is an IP-conflict with the management-interface. The conflict source is its own ip-adress!!! He reboots the WLC but the error message keeps coming. After a short while he notices that there are No APs on the WLC...!!!...
After some discussion I suggested that he should disconnect one of the two gig-ports of the WLC (LAG was enabled and in use). He did so and rebooted the WLC for good measure ... The IP-conflict disappeared but still no APs.....
In the DHCP-server (MS Win2003 server), in the AP-scope we also see that the "leased adresses" fills up with "BAD_IP_ADDRESS" (or the sort ... :-/ )
The setup is like this:
- WLC5508 running r7.0.116.0 - WLC has LAG activated and is connected to two different Cat3750G that are stacked - The management if of the WLC is on the same subnet as the AP1142s, no other hosts on this subnet - WLC management interface on own subnet as the only host (+ def gwy...) - APs on their own subnet, no other hosts - When the APs gets a IP-adress it is possible to ping them from the WLC! - All VLANs/interfaces on the WLC is tagged, ie a "pure" trunk between WLC and 3750-stack - Option 43 configured on the AP-scope - All APs is connected via Power-injector (PWR-INJ4)
WLC5508 => LAG => 2x Cat3750G => TRUNK => Cat2960 with 1x AP1142 => TRUNK => Cat2960 with 6x AP1142
What we have done so far: - Made sure the port-channel on the 3750-stack was configured: port-channel load-balance src-dest-ip - Physically disonnected on port of the WLC - Do "shutdown"on port gig-ports on the 3750-stack and "no shut" on only the one that is still physically connected to WLC - Do "shutdown" on all AP-ports in the 2960-switches. Clear the lease-pool of the DHCP-server, Deactivate scope, Reactivate Scope and finally "no shut" on all AP-ports
Nothing worked, still no APs on the WLC.
I the connected my PC to the consloe of an AP that was easily accessible and powercycled it. The output can be seen below, the most peculiar was the line : " *Mar 1 00:15:53.351: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Invalid event 38 & state 2 combination"
1. It worked initially but after the ip-address confilct and reboot of WLC no APs associate to the WLC. Why?? 2. The error message on the AP console: "*Mar 1 00:15:53.351: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Invalid event 38 & state 2 combination" What does this mean? 3. Since the AP gets an IP-address an it is possible to ping WLC -> AP, is there some freakish ogre in the Cat2960 that eats up the CAPWAP-packets??
I'm experimenting a strage issue with some AP1142 that prefer getting new IP from DHCP server rather than using the static ip already configured.
I've got more than a hundred of 1142 APs already conected to a 5508, all with static IP, all working fine for about a year.
As i installed 30 more AP, i enabled a dhcp scope on the controller to give IP to the new APs and when the new aps got registered i changed the configuration to static IP.
The problem comes when some of the older AP than have already static ip are gettig ip from dhcp scope.
If i look at my WCS, it reports that this APS are getting DHCP IP because they cannot reach the controller with their static ip. As this is impossible, because the static ip and the dhcp enable scope are in the same subnet in a layer 2 configuration and with the same gateway. (e.g: old AP 10.10.2.10/16; new AP(dhcp 10.10.3.10-50) 10.10.3.15/16; gw 10.10.254.1)
The problem comes when i disable the dhcp scope, all the older aps that got dchp ip from the wlc scope instead of using their staic configured ip are deregistered. If i reset every ap manually, from the swithc disabling PoE, they start to use the static ip and everything comes fine.
This is happening with about ten of fifteen APs from the 100 installed, that is the strange thing because this seem to be very random as the failing APs are installed in different building and connected to different switches.
As now i have disabled dhcp scope and all APs (old and new) have static ip everything is ok, but i will have to add some more APs shortly and every time i enable the dhcp scope on the wlc
On an AIRONET 600 AP (officeExtend) with the remote LAN interface is configured to use 802.1x authentication:If a Cisco IP Phone is connected, 801.x authentication challenges for credentials. The AP does not seem to have a way to detect that this is an IP Phone and to skip the challenge (as Cisco switches/routers would do) Is there any way around this? Can the remote LAN interface be configured to skip authentication for IP Phone and only authenticate PCs etc..?
Info Of a EEM configuration that would reset an interface on the router and force a re-dhcp when connectivity is lost to an upstream router? I would like the applet to run every 15 minutes. I am thinking of an event that is triggered to do a shut/no shut on the interface when 5 pings are lost.
We have a Cisco 886G router connected to the internet. The router receives an ip address. We experience however a problem when the lease time expires. The router does not send a DHCP request to renew it's ip address in time. This causes an interface reset, and connectivity loss, after the lease time of 8 hours.
We are running IOS 880data-universalk9-mz.151-3.T.bin. Config on DHCP receiving interface is:
interface VlanX description To Internet MODEM ip address dhcp ip access-group TEST in!
I would like to know if I can reset the TTL value for all IP packets to 64 as they exit my network through an ASA5505 to the outside network. Can this be done on a 5505?
I started having connectivity issues between my core 4506E (Sup7E) and Cisco 2960S. There were input and CRC errors on Te int (SFP 10Gb - LRM) on 2960S, which cause the interface to reset and drop connections. While troubleshooting this issue, I have replaced patch cords and also had the tech checking the fiber. He said that there was some residue on one of the connectors, so the light levels fluctuated in 1300nm, but worked fine in 850. Well LRMs are using 1300, so he re-polished the tips, which worked to stabilize the light levels. After all that, I was still receiving the input/CRC errors, but the connection was NOT dropping. As my last resort I swapped the SFPs between the core and 2960, thinking I should start having issues on the core end. Well, here's what happened: I stopped receiving input/CRC errors on 2960 (also no errors on the core), but 2960s started generating Rx power high alarms: [code]
I have an issue with input errors, overruns, and input reset drops on the inside interface of an 5580-40 (v8.2.5: Transparent mode) The box is not stressed at all according to the 'show' commands in the Cisco troubleshooting performance document for PIX/ASA v8.2.5. Nothing stands out because is pretty much normal, nothing (processes, RAM, blocks, IO...) really being highly utilized. I have replaced the 10Gig card and that seemed to work because the rate of errors has gone down tremedously. The next step is to RMA the whole box.My question is what would be the cause of the inside interface to stop processing traffic (I say that because the syslog server stops receiving messages) for some periods of 30 seconds periodically throughout the day and clients lose their connections (ie Outlook, IBM Sametime, Oracle, MSSQL..etc). Can the issue be somewhere related to the overruns and input errors?
i want to Use Cisco AP 1142 in my network. Also new to the enterprise edition AP.I have configured AP WEB mode the SSID and able to connect without the Security Key. Also want to enable MAC Address filter on the AP. Any configuration details on web and CLI Mode.
Prior to upgrade AIR AP1142-N (Version 12.4(25d)JA1) everything worked fine! After upgrade IOS (to new Version 15.2(2)JA) without any config modification, management interface (encapsulation dot1q 33) or any IP interface with encapsulation dot1q became unreachable... If set IP on SVI (or BVI) with native VLAN (encapsulation dot1q 4094 native), this IP is reachable. Probably, there are bug in new IOS and Dot1q encapsulation? (see 'tech-support' in attached files)
everyone can connect to the 1040 ap except my laptop and another one. for some reason it stopped showing , it was working fine and out of the blue nothing.
