Jan 8, 2013everyone can connect to the 1040 ap except my laptop and another one. for some reason it stopped showing , it was working fine and out of the blue nothing.

Cisco Wireless :: Slow Connection With Aironet 1040?
Nov 15, 2012I have been racking my brain for a while and cannot figure out why I am not getting 144Mbps out of my Aironet 1040. I was reading a previous thread ([URL]) and set it up exactly like it said. I have set the encryption to Cipher AES CCMP and set the SSID to open authentication. I also set the SSID's key management to enable WPA (WPAv2).
I was reading that WMM has to be set. I have 3 options: Disabled, Legacy, and dot11d. If i chose dot11d I have to put in a coutry code. Problem is there are no options in the country code pull down. I cannot even manually type it in.
Another problem is that cell phones cannot connect. It keeps saying authentication fails in the log.

May 24, 2012I am attempting to configure two Aironet 1040 series wireless access points for the first time and am having some difficulty. This office does not have a RADIUS server so I would like to set them up to use WPA2 with a pre-shared key. However just how this is accomplished is not immediately apparent. I have attempted using both the command line interface and the web interface, but I get errors in both places. It doesn't seem like it is all that difficult, we're just talking about a few lines in the configuration file.
This is what I have so far:

On my Accespoint i have 2 vlans: 1 for my wifi phones and 1 for my network.Wifi Lan has the SSID LAN with WPA enterprise authentication to a radius server(ms server 2008).Wifi Phone has SSID PHONE and vlan 50 with local radius authentication.This Works all fine, Except when i enable AP for my wifi phones. When AP is enabled the authentication for my lan doesn’t go to my server but local.How do I configure my accesspoints so that the cisco phones use the local radius server with AP and my windows computers connect using the ms radius server?

Mar 13, 2013I'm working on setting up an Aironet 1040 Wireless Access Point for my company. It's my first time setting up something like this, and I've run into a bit of trouble.
I created my first SSID easily enough, following the manual and guides online. I set up VLAN 1 as my native VLAN and linked it to my SSID with the encryption and security that I was told to use and it works great. However, my boss asked me to set up a second connection as well for guests at the office, and this is where my trouble starts.
I created VLAN 2, and then another SSID which I linked here. I set up encryption and security the same way, and I can see the network when I open up my network and sharing manager. I can connect to the network as well, but I either get a spinning blue icon where my signal strength indicator is or a few bars with a yellow caution sign, and Windows says 'Identifying...'. I've compared the two SSIDs using the console and the GUI and I can't seem to spot any obvious differences between them.

Sep 24, 2011I have setup a Cisco Aironet 1040 to connect to our Radius server which I have also configured.
I can successfully connect up any Iphone or Ipad but I cannot get any laptop to connect.
I have attached the logs showing the Iphone Successfully logging in and the Laptop Failing. Every single failure in the Event log for NPS comes up with
Network Policy Server denied access to a user. Contact the Network Policy Server administrator for more information.

Oct 27, 2011I am trying to configure Aironet 1040 access point. After systems get connect they immediately get disconnected. The error observed on the device is as below

Dec 26, 2012Every device I've tried to connect to my WiFi network have no issues connecting at all, except for, as far as I can tell, Samsung Android phones. My sample set is very small, but both a Samsung Galaxy S3 (both before and after custom ROM install) and a stock Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
I've tried setting a vlan up with no encryption and open authentication, and the phones just halt on "connecting". This issue is both on the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Radios.
What is working is various computers with both intel and broadcom adapters, a Brother printer, and a Motorola Droid 3 and Motorola Photon Q. I'm starting to think that it's an issue with the radio in the Samsung phones, but the S3 is 5ghz compatible and the Nexus is only 2.4, so they must have different radios. I'm also pretty sure that it's not software on the phones since the S3 had the same problem with stock ROM and CM 10, and the Nexus is Vanilla Google ROM.
I'm waiting to get a chance to upgrade to the new FW for my aironet 1040, and I'm going to fire up an old 1130AG as well as test with an iphone or ipod when I get the chance; I'd just really like to find out what the heck is going on with these samsung phones.

Apr 16, 2013we have some (2) HP Notebooks with a Broadcon 4313 b/g/n WLAN Chip and use the latest drivers (2012). This Chip can provide up to 72 mbit/s with 2,4 ghz.
If we connect this notebooks to a Aironet 2600 AP (10 feet distance) the Windows 7 WLAN Dialog shows 72 Mbit/s for 3 seconds and than only 5.5 Mbit. Others (newer) Laptops show 450 Mbit. The WLAN works with WPA2/AES and PSK. The speed doesn't go up, if we copy a big file to the laptop.

Mar 9, 2012I am in the process of moving our office and part of the task involves relocating our existing wireless access points. They are all 1242AG's running the c1240-k9w7-mx.124-10b.JDA3 IOS. I would like to change the security on the access points to WPA 2 but that selection is not available. I think upgrading the IOS will solve this problem but I am not sure. So I guess I have two questions:
1) Does this Cisco model support WPA 2 ?
2) If so what IOS do I need to load to make WPA 2 available?

Dec 11, 2012I need to configure 3 Cisco Aironet 1131g for use. Normally we use the Cisco Aeronet 802 and once these are connected onto the switch, I can log on the WLC, find them and change the name and other settings. For some reason I cannot see the Cisco 113g on any of the WLC.

We even tried to CLI through the console port but we could not set any static IP on it!, after reading on Cisco site we discover that this type of AP is called "Lightweight Access Point" LAP which handles all the management tasks to the controller!
So what shall we do! is it impossible to operate them without the controller?
Cisco Wireless :: Aironet 1142 Keeps Rebooting
Jul 27, 2011About every 20 minutes 12 of 300 APs keep rebooting. I have tried moving them to different controllers. I have tried downgrading the code and then upgrading the code. I have tried replacing the AP. I have tried swamping out cables. They are all connected to a 3750 stack but plugged into different switches in the stack. Here is the result that I could capture when I saw it disconnect from the controller. This is the output from the AP:

Cisco Wireless :: Can't Turn Off LED On Aironet 1141
Sep 3, 2012I'm trying to turn off the LED on a Cisco Aironet 1141 p/n AIR-AP1141N-A-K9. This is a standalone AP and from the CLI I'm issuing this command:
ap(config)#led display off
The LED does not turn off after typing this command. If I do `show run' it shows up in the config so the command was accepted. Is there a different way to turn off the LED? I'm running IOS Version 12.4(21a)JA1.

Apr 16, 2013I just purchased an Aironet 1142n and need to configure/set it on one subnet in our WAN and ship it to another subnet on the WAN.
I have not been able to access the unit using a network cable from a pc direct connected to the Aironet. The pc's ip address is set to 10.0.0.2 I can not get to the access point thru the web interface using 10.0.0.1.
When I attempted to access it using a Hyper terminal connected to serial port and console port it loaded a list of software and updates and then reported that it shut down and I could not do any thing with it.
What must I do to be able to configuer a static IP and assign it an SSID and Security settings? How can I access the web interface? I have reset it by uplugging the power cord and holding down the Mode button while I plugged back in the power cord and holding it until the light turned amber/orange. Currently the light is solid green with the ethernet port direct connected to the nic card on a desktop.

My objective is to use some of these as wireless monitors to scan the vicinity and to report the SSIDs and RSSI values of all detected APs.
Basically something similar to the Linux command: "iwlist wlan0 scan".
Periodically, I would like to transmit the scanning results to a central server (e.g. via SNMP) for monitoring the whole network area.
Are there built-in commands in the IOS to do this? Or can I use Tcl scripts to perform this task?
I have worked with Cisco routers and switches before but I am new to wireless devices.
