My current setup is an AP1262n located ~400 feet from my WAP321. I would like to take the wireless signal coming from the AP1262n and rebroadcast it using a WAP321. configuration setting on these two devices.
Recently installed a 1262N AP in autonomous mode. Have both 2.4 and 5Ghz radios running- Both on separate SSID and VLAN. I think I have 5Ghz channels using 40Mhz bands (bonded) but when I do iperf throughput test I only get about 25Mb throughput. I am sitting within 10 feet of the AP. When I switch to 2.4 I get around 60Mb and that's not bonded. I have tried multiple interfaces on my client side laptop I'm testing with since I thought maybe it was a quirky card or driver but I get same results. Am I doing something wrong here? My laptop shows a 300Mb connection to 5Ghz and 144Mb on 2.4Ghz but I know that's not true thorughput so that's why I was testing this to see what I was really getting and now I'm confused.
This is one of our first site where we are implementing Cisco wireless, and we bought some external Autonomous AP1262, when we should have bought Lightweight LAP1262 . We can get those replaced, but I am looking into migrating them in order to get them to register with our 5508 controllers.
There do not seem to be a migration tool to download for 1262. Must it be done via the WCS ?So far I have not managed to add these autonomous AP to the controllers. How to know if a migration toll exists for those !
we have a couple of AP1262N-E-K9 APs with firmware version 12.4(25d)JA1 operating in autonmous mode. One AP is setup as repeater while all others are in root mode.
The repeater has setup one parent MAC address so it associates every time to the same parent root AP. Given this setting, I am logging into the repeater via SSH and start the antenna-alignment scan: "dot11 dot11Radio 0 antenna-alignment timeout 4"
During this scan, the repeater disconnects from its parent to perform the scan so no output is visible at the SSH console. After the scan is finished, the repeater re-associates to its parent and some output appears on the SSH console.
8 of 10 times this procedure works fine: the scan is finished and I can continue entering commands on the SSH console. However, in some cases the repeater is not reachable any more for about 7 minutes. I.e. pings to the repeater's IP address are unsuccessful and the SSH connection hangs until it is automatically disconnected after a timeout. Also, the web configuration interface is not reachable. After about 7 minutes everything works fine.

"dot11 dot11Radio 0 antenna-alignment timeout 4"
However, the behavior of this command is inconsistent as the timeout value is ignored in 20% of the tests. I.e. in 80% of all tests, the scan really runs only 4 s as specified using the "timeout" parameter. In the other 20% of the tests, the "timeout" parameter seems to be ignored: Often the antenna-alignment scan runs for about 140 seconds and in some cases even for 420 seconds. This is problematic as the access point is completely unavailable during the test, i.e. the configuration ssh/web interfaces are not reachable and no clients can associate to the access point. [URL]

I attempted to measure the signal quality between the APs by setting one device to repeater mode while all others are in root mode. Then, I execute the following command: dot11 Dot11Radio 0 antenna-alignment
1. The output of "show dot11 antenna-alignment" is incorrect, the % value represents the signal strength in dBm without the - (minus). E.g. "-25 dBm" is displayed as "Signal 25% 0 dBm".Now, I know that is only a display error but still this is not clean. Is this a known issue?
2. Why are the measured signal strength values not displayed on the SSH console during the antenna-alignment test? Is it obligatory to use the console to see these values? Or is it also a known bug which might be fixed in later firmware versions?
is it possible to manage a air-ap1262n with a controller like wlc 5500 or wlc 2500? the official cisco support could not answer me this question for sure. i have found this old guide to upgrade ap´s to lap´s, but there is hothing about the 1260 in it. [URL]
i am a little bit confused!
the cisco documents tells: "at_a_glance_c45-636090.pdf"
A wireless network with standalone access points offers a low-cost, entry-level solution that does not require a controller. It is ideal for small-scale networks with less than 20 access points, and offers base-level wireless functionality with the flexibility to scale and add services over time by adding a controller.
What would be the best option to monitor the load on AP live? Is there a GUI tool for this or should I use command line interface? I was hoping that CNA would do this, but the AIR-SAP1602I.EK9 does not seem to be supported by the CNA. CCP seems to be another application, would this do what I want?
I have installed an SR520 with wireless for a client. They have asked if there is an easy way for them to monitor who is connected to the wireless at any given point in time. They are not capable of using the IOS command line.
I'm looking for a way to monitor client authentication failures with our 3 standalone 1142N APs. I know that I can see failures under the log viewer of each AP
I recently received an email from my internet provider showing illegal movie downloads through my modem. I have a wireless router hooked up (with password security) for my roommates to use and would like to monitor their internet activities to know who is downloading these movies.
we have a high speed internet and my modem is capable of wireless what I want to know, is there a way that I can monitor how much my daughter is on her computer and what websites she is visiting without having to install a program on her notebook or having to check her history etc? I would like to be able to do it all from my computer
I've been having some problems with the Monitor Clients menu on a WCS 7.0 server, for instance if I go there and display the detected clients on the last 24 hours I get a different set of clients than if I go and generate a report of unique clients for the last day on the report menu. Is this normal?, shouldn't both reports get the data from the same place and give the same result?.
I have a cable modem with a wireless router attached. There are 2 laptops that connect to the internet via the router. I've never been able to get the hard wired desktop to connect to the internet via the router, so, when the desktop is used, the router is disconnected from the modem and the desktop is connected.I do not have free access to the modem, router or desktop devices, but I do have free access to the 2 laptops.I would like to be able to install on one of the laptops, something that would keep track of the internet connectivity.
I know that even when the router is disconnected from the modem, it is still sending it's wireless signal (most likely) but it's not connected to the internet anymore. So, I would like to be able to know the date and time the router looses internet connectivity and the date and time it gets the connectivity back every time this happens.I would love to be able to monitor the activity that takes place on the internet during that time frame, but know it's not possible when all I have access to is a wirelessly connected laptop that would lose the internet connectivity. So, it would be good just to be able to know when the router is disconnected and how long it is disconnected.
Have a PC set up with a LINKSYS N2500 router. this is password protected for access to network I would like to monitor what one of my children is doing on the net - but they surf the net using an iPad
My Belkin N150 wireless router monitor has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you us a solution is available.I can not figure out why my wireless router doesn't work sometimes.I need to be able to access this to get to the router settings. I don't know if my wireless is being highjacked or what.
I've got the E3000 set up and working. What I'd like to do now is monitor all the devices' connectivity to it. The bandwidth it consumes and stuff. Is there a way to do that on my router?
All my previous routers have allowed me to monitor my connection speeds however I can't find this in this router. I found the client table under "status" but I have not been able to find the connection speeds anywhere. I like to make sure that my devices are running at close to 300Mbps and not 54Mbps in case I have a connection setup wrong. I have searched in the forums without much luck.
I just got optical fiber installed in my place which gives me great download speeds. Now my ISP has a monthly download limit of 120GB, after that I gotta pay overages. Now my setup is like this: Fiber modem (1 port) -> Linksys E3000 router (4 ports + wifi). All my gear is hooked up to the Linksys router (xbox, ps3, media center, office pc & 2 laptops).I would like to keep track of the total "internet" bandwidth use of all devices, but exclude the normal network traffic, as that of course I don't pay for.Is there something that I can install on the Linksys router that can keep track of that kinda of information? router (4 ports + wifi).
I successfully installed the AirLink101 AWLL6075 Adapter, however it cannot find networks because the Wireless Monitor section is always checked as being "Disabled". When I uncheck the box, a few seconds later it comes right back to Disabled with the check mark again.
I use a WPC54G wireless adaptor to connect a laptop to my home network. I just replaced a WRT54G2 router with a Cisco Valet router. When I start up the laptop, the wireless adaptor's Monitor configuration takes priority over Windows XP wireless configuration, but the Cisco Valet does not recognize the Monitor. If I disable the Monitor, everything is fine until I reboot, and then the Monitor again prevents connecting to the router.
How do I permanently disable the Monitor software so that the laptop will default to the Windows XP wireless configuration settings?
The "Wireless Network Monitor" for my Linksys Dual-Band Wireless A+G Notebook Adapter Model No WPC55AG has been unable to run after I last updated my Windows XP machine using Windows Update. The problem presents itself immediately upon login (because the monitor is set to run on startup) with an error window that says "Abnormal program termination" and "WPC55AGV2.exe" in the title bar. I suspect the problem occurred because one of the new updates included an upgrade to the Microsoft .NET Framework Services 3.0.
I am sharign my bandwidth with my neighbour and would like to keep a tab on what he is downloading, and then limit the speeds he gets while using my 4Mbps line. He's accessign using a WIFI L:AN card. Can I do this usign WRT160Nv2? Maybe any third-party.
everyone can connect to the 1040 ap except my laptop and another one. for some reason it stopped showing , it was working fine and out of the blue nothing.
