I successfully installed the AirLink101 AWLL6075 Adapter, however it cannot find networks because the Wireless Monitor section is always checked as being "Disabled". When I uncheck the box, a few seconds later it comes right back to Disabled with the check mark again.

On my Toshiba A105, the wireless adapter (Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG) is disabled. When I ask it to be Enabled, it goes through the motions but then immediately disables it again.

Weirdest part is that I am connecting via WiFi.I've had this problem since college freshman year (I am a college junior). It only occurs at school, but the school tried fixing it and "everything" works fine. The internet basically shuts off every hour or so. It's tedious to sign back on and starting this year, I am starting to use a program that requires online internet connectivity for the program to function.

I am running Windows 7 on an HP laptop, and when I troubleshoot the problem all it pops up with is "Local Area Connection 4 adapter is disabled". When I try repairs as an administrator it just repeats the fact that the adapter is disabled, but does not provide a way for me to fix this. I have also tried going through Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Troubleshooting > Network and Internet and selecting the network adapter option, selecting the Local Area Connection 4 to diagnose. It then said troubleshooting couldn't identify a problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem getting serial interfaces to show up with a NM4A/S card in a 3745 router. It worked at first but now the serial interfaces don't show up in running-config but show diag shows the card is present but says "Port adapter is disabled deactivated". I have tried the card in 3 different slots and of course turned off power when moving card around (left power cord in for grounding). Again, it was once working (serial interfaces were showing up in running-config) so if I damaged the slot somehow, however I was very careful when seating card. Have been searching the learning network and google for days now to no avail. Have tried to find something similar to the card type command thinking the port adapter needs to be activated but have not found any documentation about that. Hope card isn't bad all of a sudden but really don't think it is since it worked before and it seems to be recognized just not showing serial interfaces in running-config/sh ip int b (on ios/cli). Really think it's something along the lines of activating card, but not sure.

The settings show on the screen temporarily but do not save.When I try to save the settings I get the message nothing is changed save anyway? If I press save I get a window that says the setting is saved wait seconds. When I hit continue, and check my settings nothing was saved.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe modem Time Warner gave me several years ago was dying, I took it in, they gave me a Cisco modem, I plugged it into the computer, works fine, so then I plugged it into my airlink 101 wireless router, the computer recognizes the router but says there is no internet access, i.e. the modem and router are not communicating. Why would change of modem cause lack of communication with the router, is there something different about modems now compared with roughly 5 years ago? And what can i do to fix it so i can have wireless access again? If it matters, I have no protection on my wireless (because I never figured out how).
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy parents house is basically an old ranch style home that was added on to with a 2 story + basement. So I can only guess at the materials between where the signal is weak and where I have installed a DGL-4300 (Dlink Wired and Wireless gigabit router). It resides in the basement which is directly under the 2 story part of the house and everything on any floor of that section seems to get a good signal.
Admittedly I haven't done a lot of extensive testing since I really don't have much stuff that has wireless connectivity, and the one laptop they have is fairly stationary sitting right on top of the wireless router 2 floors up.....signal strength is always good to it.
However the older section of the house gets a pretty weak wireless signal and now with everything being wifi ready I am going to see about solving it. For instance, I've had a hell of a time connecting an older Zune 2.0 8gb version to the wireless network anywhere in the house, I just assumed it was broken or puking on the wireless security which is some version of WPA I can't recall atm if it's one in particular or set to both. But I temporarily disabled all security to see if it would connect and the router saw the device connect with a 20% signal strength for a bit, then the Zune started puking on connecting ..again.
I figured small device, it might even be broken. But I know the signal strength to the older section is not going to be very stellar anyway because the signal on a direct path has to pass through concrete walls and then a concrete foundation......plus it has cordless phone systems to compete against in that same space is has to travel. And anything the kitchen appliances and such might be interfering with it since it's potentially in the way as well.
So, any low cost solution (less than $50 dollars) I can hook into the existing wired network and will play nice with the existing Dlink router as it's going to remain the boss since it was fairly costly and works fine. To work as an extension of the same wireless network.....
I really don't have a problem with updating firmware, connecting into the device to configure it...or even putting new software on it if the directions are decent. The only thing I really care about is that it is cheap, has the capability to fit my bill. I'd guess it'd need to cover a 50 foot circular span with a strong signal and maybe 75 feet out with a medium strength to make sure there's no too weak spots or close up any potential dead spots due to materials used in construction. Oh and it has to be very stable or be pretty stable and have a remote reboot that'll clear up issues, I used to have a linksys router I had to reboot probably once a week to keep it working but it had to be power cycled. It was in the basement, near the patch panel the house has and it got old enough that I got the Dlink to replace it even though it was still functioned besides the freezing/sluggish performance issues requiring power cycles.
Not sure if it's new in WLC 7.4 code, but I now see "Dual-band radio" section everywhere in addition to "802.11a/n" and "802.11b/g/n". My dual band APs (for example 2600's) show up under both 802.11a/n and 802.11b/g/n as in the past. So what is this new category "dual-band radio" for then?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe had an existing installation of LMS 4.1 which seemed to have worked fine with the exception that it was giving problems with logging Syslog events. We tried everything to resolve it and then we found a link on this very site that explained that there was a bug in displaying Syslog events on LMS 4.1. It is important to state that we would get a few Syslog events but the rest were either filtered or discarded.As per the bug toolkit, we realized that we had to upgrade to LMS 4.2 to have the bug resolved. This was not a problem and we installed LMS 4.2 as a direct upgrade to LMS 4.1. We backed up our existing data and the installation process migrated everythin automatically.Now, LMS 4.2 is installed and our objective of having Syslog messages are being received regularly as we wanted.unfortunately, when we try to generate a report such as "Detailed Device" report and try to select All Devices from the Device Selector menu, we do not see any of our devices. However, we do find our devices listed under User-Defined Groups -> (Our DCR). Based on this, we can generate reports and everything is fine.Yet, we are doing this for a client of ours and they expect to see these devices listed in the "All Devices" section of the device selector. Apart from that, everything seems to be working fine.

I was wondering if I can change the mac addresses of the standby unit's interfaces to be exactly the same as the primary unit. I see an active/standby mac address section in ADSM, but I think that is used in the automatic failover function.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a westell DSL modem/router supplied by Frontier. It connects only to the telephone line and via cat5 to my main router, a cisco EA6500. Everything seems to be working fine, I just would like to understand a few things.I disabled wireless radio on the westell, enabled it on the cisco, so I have just one WIFI network active.I know I am not supposed to have two DHCP servers active, but I did not know how else to be sure the CISCO would get a good address, so I left DHCP active on the WESTELL, and also enabled it on the CISCO to provide service for the rest of the net.The WESTELL admin interface is at 192.168.1.1, and assigns addresses in this range.According to the WESTELL, the CISCO is at 192.168.1.27, which I assume was assigned by DHCP.The CISCO has an admin interface at 10.144.224.224, and assigns addresses in this range to all the other devices on my net.As I say, everything works.I can access both router admin pages with a browser on my main 10.144.224 network, and can ping both.But I don't understand why it works.What rules allow me to talk to the WESTELL admin page from the CISCO private network, but do NOT propagate the DHCP access which is at the exact same IP address.
It is great that it works. But should I really have disabled DHCP on the WESTELL and assigned a static address to the CISCO? Or is this situation actually provided for in the rules, not just a lucky accident that it works?Why does the scanner say that the CISCO DHCP is "Unknown" rather than Authorized or Unauthorized? Is there something I can or should do to get it to be "Authorized"? I can ping 192.168.1.1, but not the 192.168.1.27 (times out), and yet when I ping a non-existent 192.169.1.3 I get "Reply from 192.168.1.27: Destination host unreachable".
my laptop can't connect to a wireless network, so I have to keep it in one room connected to the modem. When I unplug it, even with the wireless switch on, it loses the connection. When I use ConfigFree, it says the wireless network device is disabled. I went to device manager and updated the driver for the network adapter, and it still said it was disabled. What should I do now?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS G71gx laptop with Windows Vista 64 bit. I noticed upon start up my wireless connection would not automatically connect. I hit diagnose and repair, and it stated that I did not have wireless connectivity turned on. I tried flipping the wireless switch on and off a few times to no avail. When I would turn it on and off, the blue LED light was OFF. Also, each time I switched it on and off, it said on the screen that the wireless LAN adapter was OFF (even if the switch was turned on). Then, I restarted the windows explorer bar a few times as well as flip the switch again. This time, the blue LED turned ON. However, the internet was still turned off. I hit diagnose and repair again and it said the same thing as previously stated. It gave me the option to repair it by turning on wireless compatibility/connectivity, so I hit that. After that it turned on and I could use it with no problem.

Although i cannot remember if i caused it to start working again. My laptop wireless hardware has disabled itself. I've tried enabling/disabling and troubleshooting from what i know how to do but its still not working. This problem started yesterday.
