Routers / Switches :: Airlink101 Not Working With New Cisco Modem?

The modem Time Warner gave me several years ago was dying, I took it in, they gave me a Cisco modem, I plugged it into the computer, works fine, so then I plugged it into my airlink 101 wireless router, the computer recognizes the router but says there is no internet access, i.e. the modem and router are not communicating. Why would change of modem cause lack of communication with the router, is there something different about modems now compared with roughly 5 years ago? And what can i do to fix it so i can have wireless access again? If it matters, I have no protection on my wireless (because I never figured out how).

My Motorola SBG901 Modem/Router combo has stopped connecting to the internet. I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there anyway to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901? Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection.

everything was all good, my brother went crazy and unplugged everything.it effects our house phone too, that could be the problem.i just dont know what wires went where. all the wires are the same color.but i know which is which. just again, dont know where.i would like to get it done before he gets home later on.

In my office we have concrete walls and very limited wiring. The way it is set up is we have a Verizon DSL Modem that comes in then I have a router with it that splits the signal to 4 other routers that each split the signal 2 to 3 more times. I have to use routers so that it assigns IP addresses.I bought a new D-Line N300 Wireless router with USB imput. I want to attach my Home Media Network Hard Drive Cloud edition to the 1st router (attached to the modem) and then share the data off that hard drive with everyone connected to the sub routers.

Currently I have 2 different modem running in my working area which is modem A and modem B. Whenever user from Modem A(192.168.0.1) or Modem B(192.168.0.10) would like to print or scan something using the shared printer, I need to manually plug the cable into either Modem A or Modem B depends on the network the user are currently using.How I do previously is only set DHCP on Modem A and disable DHCP for modem B so that Modem B will share DHCP assigned by Modem A. Both modems connect to the same Switch with the printer cable so both network user can use it together.But the problem now is I have to enable DHCP for both modems and causing the previously method can't be use anymore. So is there any other way that I can link both Modem A and Modem B with each assign different DHCP to link with 1

I connect to the internet through a Thomson TG585 v8 modem. When I log in to the modem's IP (192.168.1.254?) through a browser, I only get one task available, that is "Check connectivity for this internet service". As far as I know, I should have some management options, like for example to block websites, to limit internet service for certain devices etc... Does anybody knows why I don't have these options? Could it be a restriction from the Internet Service Provider?

I am trying to connect a Netgear wirless router to my cable modem. I have followed the instructions on the set up wizard but it fails to get a connection with the IP and DNS info I provide.I got the IP address info by connecting intially direct from the modem to the PC and then went to Run CMD and type ipconfig /all. I then started the set up wizard and followed the instructions, turning things on in specific order etc. After input the IP and DNS info it reports an error and tells me to check the address information is correct.My internet is a static IP connection (so it tells me and the IP information doesn't change).

Adding ports to my Fairpoint provided Westell 7500 Rev D DLS modem router which has only 4 RJ45 ports. Bought a Linksys SE2500 gigabit smart switch but it doesn't assign IP or pass on router assigned IPs. Can't get ASSISTANCE from Fairpoint [successor to Verizon] configuring router or any advice on other ways to get more wired devices on LAN.For speed in backups I'd like 3 devices to be able to communicate at giabit speed Want to have an NAS and 2 Win7 Ultimate computers on smart switch, 3 other wired devices [WinXP, AT&T Cell tower, & DirectTV whole house SWM interface] and wireless on the router. 1. Are Fairpoint specs for DSL published so I could get another DSL modem router instead of the Westell or is it better to configure Westell as a router only and use a new to be acquired router with or without the existing or a new gigabit switch. I have a DI-624 from the pre-DSL Hughesnet satellite days.2. Are there less smart switches which would work better and let router assign the IPs?3. If this is too complex for me, can you recommend a remote access consultant to walk me through this for a fee?4. access-list <#> permit/deny <protocol> <sourceAddress> <sourceMask> <destinationAdd> <destinationMask>Say I applied an ACL inbound on Fa0/0, would the source address be the outside the LAN?So if took the same ACL and applied it as outbound, would the source need to be change to an IP inside the LAN?I am a bit confused by the data flow I'm seeing in packet tracer simulation mode to. I set up an ACL for testing purposes "access-list 199 permit ip 193.20.30.0 0.0.0.63 any" set as inbound, the idea being it permits any traffic from the .0 subnet.When I watch the packet in the simulation, it makes it to the destination address then is dropped by the router on it's way back out to the sender.

I'm trying to set up 2 separate networks in my home, both of which have access to the internet through a single ISP.I have set up my networks using 2 routers as described in the "Version 2" scenario found here: url...The problem is, a computer connected to the LAN side of Router 2 is able to ping and map shared folders on computers connected to the LAN side of Router 1. According to the writeup (last paragraph), this should not be the case.I have been over the setup multiple times to ensure it is per the writeup but each time, I am able to ping and map.Is there some additional router/computer settings that I may be missing?FWIW, here's my take on what is happening (with the ping): When a computer on the LAN side of Router 2 (submet 192.168.1.x) does a ping to a computer on the LAN side of Router 1 (subnet 192.168.0.x), Router 2 sends the request to its Default Gateway (since it's a different subnet).Router 1 however, recognizes this as its LAN side subnet and forwards the request to that computer. The ping response is then routed back from Router 1 to Router 2.

My office pc internet ADSL router is connected on USB port and office intranet router is connected to LAN post throuh a CAT-5 cable.Both have different gateways.I have manually configured both USB and LAN but internet and intranet does nt work together.I am required to disable one connection to connect the othet one.I want to remotely connect to my office pc and work on intranet( oracle database) .i connect through team viewer but as internet is on,intranet does nt open.i tried to add intranet gateway throuh command line also but it did nt work.office pc is xp ..home pc is vista..

ive been having some issues with my internet, i had an attack on my pc recently by some american orginization, ive reinstalled new windows on my pc, reset my modem, and nothign seems to work, i have too many tunnel adapters in cmd ip config i think, bell canada hooked up my internet lines and they actually joined two or more wires together and strung them up on the neighbours fence and mine and even wrapped it around a tree branch, god knows why they would even do that, maybe they think when the tree grows it will cost me money to fix it and theyll earn from thier mistakes instead of learn from them... anyway this is my ipconfig test results as explained in previous post from someone.Windows IP Configuration[CODE]

I have Windows 7 x64 and I'm using ICS to share my internet connection (cable-modem router from Comcast) with another 4 computers in my LAN.Today I decided to install a VPN free program called HOTSPOT SHIELD, and after installing it I can browse fine the Internet with this main computer, but the others in the LAN lost internet connection, although File-sharing still works fine and I can see the Networked computer in Windows Explorer or access them remotely with Remote Desktop Connection.I noticed that the Hotspot Shield program added several routes to my routing table, most of them in the IP-Range 10.31.X.X with a Mask of 255.255.248.0so this virtual Network-card that is created has a VARIABLE IP address 10.31.X.X, the first time I monitored it was 10.31.40.20.

Ok, my roomate is hogging the bandwidth on our shared router downloading junk. I'm not sure if he's using a torrent, but just in case he is here is my question:How do I turn off the ports for torrenting on my qwest pk5000 modem? Is there anything else I can do that would work as well?My friend reccommended I turn off every port after 9000 or something.
