Cisco Wireless :: Make WAP4410 Fall Under Two Ip Address Ranges?

Apr 24, 2011

I am wondering if I can make our WAP4410 fall under two ip address ranges. I want to have a network for the office users and one for the guest users. We currently use a Safe@Office500WP Checkpoint router. It allows us to create multiple network ranges. We have the office users wireless under 192.168.0.1 ip range and the Guest Wireless is under the 192.168.200.1 range. Do I need two access points or can this be done with just the one?

Cisco Wireless :: WAP4410 Acting As Repeating - Missing Modes

Jan 22, 2012

Currently I have an almost pure N environment, with the exception of 1 printer. My primary router is a WRVS400N v2, and the WAP 4410N is acting as a repeater.  On the WRVS400N I have the option og g/n Mixed (which is what I use), but this option is not available to me with the WAP4410N.It seems like the WAP4410N is taking an all or nothing approach, as each speed is idividually available, or ALL speeds are available. What I would like to know is if this oversight will be resolved in a fufute firmware release so I can have both devices configured equally?

Cisco Wireless :: WAP4410 Doesn't Just Make A Universal Power Injector

Oct 10, 2011

Contrary to the information contained in the link above, these two parts do not play well together. I purchased both and plugged them in and no go. It doesn't even light anything on the WAP. It worked fine when it was on its own 12V DC adapter but not plugged into this injector. What I don't understand is why Cisco doesn't just make a Universal power injector that is essentially a 1 port switch and is 802.3af or 802.3at compatible. Its maddening. It looks like I'm going to have to get an SD208P and waste 6 ports just to get one with the correct POE for the WAP4410.

Cisco Routers :: WAP4410 Dropping Connections

Aug 10, 2011

Model: WAP4410N-A V02
Firmware version: 2.0.3.3

Deployed 3 of these as WAPs. No repeaters. They are spaced at least 50 feet apart over three offices, each in a server or switch room.

Across multiple laptops, and multiple WAPS, the wireless will function fine for a while with good bandwidth..then the connection will simply drop. By simply resetting the connection on the laptop or turning the wireless off then on, the connection typically returns, at least for a period of time before it drops again.

I’ve tried these configured as three separate SSIDs on identical channels, as well as one SSID for all three with different channels (preferred for a seamless wireless), and the behavior does not change either way.Based on some other threads, I tried forcing the LAN port speed to 100 mbps, but the problem persists.

Netgear WNDR4500 - Clients Not Showing Up In Clients List

Jul 6, 2012

I have a Netgear WNDR4500 running the stock firmware, acting as a router for my home. I also have 2 routers that are flashed with DD-WRT (Linksys WRT54G and Asus WL-520GU) running as client bridges. The Netgear is 192.168.1.1 and the other 2 client bridges are 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.10.3. The Netgear router is performing DHCP giving addresses from 192.168.10.100 to 192.168.10.254. I have numerous machines connected to the Netgear, wirelessly and wired, and numerous machines wired to each client bridge. All machines have IP addresses that are 192.168.10.100, 192.168.10.101, 192.168.10.102, etc... Everything is working fine, but I have one question: When I access the Netgear router, it shows the client bridges as clients, machines that are wired and wireless to the Netgear router are listed as clients, but the client list does not show any clients that are connected to the client bridges. I assumed that since the router is performing DHCP that all clients would show up.

I've looked at a lot of different guides, ran debugs etc.  When wifi clients make DHCP requests the server never gets them.  So there must be some IRB thing going on.

hp pavilion running fedora 15
hp touchpad (webos)
htc thunderbolt (android)
dell inspiron  (?  work computer..not here right now) running windows xp

I am running wpa 2 using AES encryption in wireless mixed b/g/n mode (I have tried all other permutations of BGN. On the devices that will let me see error logs, all i get is "authentication invalid" errors.) In a few rare cases, i am able to get a second device connected  by disabling the first device, connecting second, and reconnecting first.I am running the newest firmware 1.10NA.

Cisco Wireless :: How To Associate WLAN Clients With 802.1x

Sep 17, 2012

we have the following situation:

- 2 x WLC 5508 with about 80 - 120 access points (Aironet 3500) each
- 7 x WLAN's with different security settings
- 2 x ACS 5.3

On one WLAN we have the problem, that the students with their own laptops have to enter their AD username about 4-5 time, until they get a successfull 802.1x authentication. The WLAN has the following configuration:

- Hidden SSID
- Only 802.11b/g
- Interface assigned via AP Groups
- WPA2 / AES with 802.1x or CCKM (here I could only allow 802.1x, the clients do not need fast secure roaming)
- Authentication via ACS 5.3 and PEAP
- for more details see screenshots below

Most of the time I can't see any 802.1x authentication attemps on the ACS View, but when there are entries, they are successfull. So in my opinion I think there has to be a problem on WLC side, but I don't know where to search further. We already deactivated the client load balancing in the WLAN, because at the beginning the customer wanted to activate that - but it was clear that there are a lot of clients which had to authenticate multiple times.I know there were some bugs in the 7.0 train, so I upgraded finaly to 7.0.235.0 to overcome this bug here: CSCty07036.To fix the other bug (CSCtt70290) I just disabled all the session timeouts on the different WLAN's.

Cisco Wireless :: AP1130AG - Unable To See Other Clients On Same AP

Jun 25, 2012

We have 3 AP1130AG installed on our network with 2 VLANs. The APs are set up with two SSID, one for each VLAN. If two devices are connected to the same SSID on the same AP, they are UNABLE to ping/communicate with each other. If two wireless devices are on the same SSID and different APs, they are able to ping/communicate with each other. When the two devices are connected to the same AP/SSID, I can ping both devices from a server that is wired connected. I need to figure out why I can't ping/communicate between two devices that are connected to the same AP and are on the same SSID/VLAN. Below is the current configuration of the wireless AP.

Problem Users running various tpyes of wireless cards on windows XP SP3 get disconnected periodically throughout the day whether they roam or not. This disconnect problem started happening after we replaced older 1200 series units running wpa and tkip and replaced with 1141n running wpa2 with aes. Users running windows 7 do not get disconnected. However there are very few W7 users on campus as this point in time.

Cisco Wireless :: Why AP 500 Doesn't Assign IP To Clients

Mar 13, 2012

We have cisco ap 500 series, it was lightweight, but we migrate it to standalone, now, the scheme is simple. We have a router 2811 and dhcp created on it, also we have f0/0.30 virtual interface with ip of 10.10.30.1.On switch one interface (trunk) goes to router f0/0 interface, and one interface (access) goes to ap.On AP we have BVI interface with 10.10.30.10, and default route to 10.10.30.1.So when we connecting to our SSID, it connect but doestn receive DHCP, and takes APIPA address, why ap doesnt assign ip to clients.

Cisco Wireless :: 3310MSE That Does Not Track Clients

Oct 17, 2012

We got a 3310MSE that does not track clients.,rogues etc for some reason.

- there are no firewalls between PNCS and MSE
- clocks are synced up with NTP
- CAS is running on the MSE
- I have added controllers and a test site with clients and is synced up with the MSE.
- Have enabled tracking under tracking doe clients and rogues excluding adhoc rogue APs -we only have 100 element license.

The only other thing worth mentioning is that MSE is running  version 6 firmware and the controllers are 7.0.220 but I do not think this should prevent  MSE from tracking devices. [code]

Cisco Wireless :: AP541N - Dropping Clients

Cisco Wireless :: 877W LAN Viewable By Some Clients But Not Others

Jul 6, 2012

I have a Cisco 877W router that has been running flawlessly for nearly 2 years. During that time I've never had to manually reset the router, it has been more reliable than my ISP.However one month ago I left my business for a week and came back to find that the WLAN was no longer visible from my laptop. I searched google, tech forums, and these forums for conclusive explanations as to what is happening but found nothing. The main issue is an inability to see the network, old wireless devices that have been using the WLAN for a while have no trouble viewing the network or connecting to it.How ever, any time a new device is brought in (Samsung Galaxy Tab, new Laptops, and new Desktops) the WLAN is not available.I was able to make the device visible to my laptop by changing the country code on my network device to Region 1, but this is not an option for all devices or configurations.

I have changed the broadcast channels, shutting down the WLAN, configuring WLAN differently (through several different Security methods). My separate access points are usually visible by all clients, (I use D-LINK wifi routers configured to AP mode throughout my facility) however the Cisco just doesn't like to be seen?

Cisco Wireless :: 2500 / 5500 - Wireless Access Point Identification By Clients

Apr 30, 2012

We have recently been given this unusual task.  The setup is a series of CAP3502P access points, and a wireless controller (either 2500 Series or 5500 Series), as well as other standard network infrastructure.

In this network, the client (mobile/wireless) devices must be able to detect when they change what access point they are communicating through, while also requiring a seamless transition.  Ie, if the client device is communicating via access point A, and displaying the application menus for A, when the user walks to the area services by access point B, it must detect that sot he application can display menus for B, without the user having to select "B".

Is there a way for the client device to detect which access point it is using and provide that to an application? Or alternatively a way for a host service residing on a server to get that information from the wireless controller?
