What is the average memory usage for a Cisco 5508 with 500 APs (mostly 3502s) running 7.0.116.0 code? I am currently at 450 access points and have 80% memory usage should I be concerned?
View 6 RepliesI'm having a problem with the memory and also trying to create some rules on the CISCO ASA. The version that I got installed was the 8.2.5.33 on a CISCO 5520 with 512 RAM, the memory usage is on 99% used, 1% free and because of that when I'm trying to create a new rule the firewall brings me the next error..So what I did was a downgrade to the version 8.2 (4) 4 and the memory went down a little (82% used, 18% free) but I still got the error when I'm creating an access rule on the device. One thing and I'm not sure if this could affect on the performance are the number of access list and the object groups that are created.
I already open a case with CISCO TAC and they are checking if the problem is with the memory capacity or maybe a memory leak.Also the doubt that I got is with the memory that I got now available should I can create access rules or 82 is still to hig to create a rule or and object group?
however recently when i check my internet usage log on my wireless company (Rogers) the usage is totally off from what my bandwidth tracker shows me. So i decide to turn off my wifi and see what happens, there has always been this weird wifi connection appearing whenever my wifi appears, then afterwards when i turn off my wifi the suspicious wifi connections disappear. is this possible that someone is using our wifi? i might just be overreacting but it has brought me to concern that if the usage continues my family will have to end up paying over $30 for extra internet use. it is very frustrating me because when i check my DHCP client table it only shows 3 connection, ethernet - my desktop which is not turned on, 2 wireless connection - my laptop and my sister's laptop.

I have been asked to analyze and report as well on the way the Qos Policy is written, and to provide any recommendations on how they can improve performance.There is a statement within the Qos Policy as it exists at each end on the 3825 routers. The statement is called "shape average percent". Here is the policy from one side:

At my workplace, we have high speed internet (dsl). We don't have Wifi or a full time tech guy at the moment. I was thinking about proposing it since I generally handle most of the technical items at my job, but wanted to verify a few things first. First of all.. on a work network.. is it any more difficult than your average home network to set up a wifi router? Anything special I should know before attempting to set one up?

I have forwarded all the necessary ports to the device (and I have even tried DMZ) but the device is unable to connect to some servers due to "NAT issues". The device uses lots of ports simultaneously to connect and I am wondering maybe possibly the router can not handle the number of open ports. The ISP only blocks port 25 which the device does not use. Could it be that the ISP limits the number of ports that are in use? Or maybe the ISP limits the amount of bandwidth that can pass through certain ports?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI just pulled the AP out of the box and haven't received support contracts yet. I connected the AP to the LAN and added it to my 4402 controller (version 5.2.178.0) with no problems. Once I set it the mode to H-REAP and it rebooted, it went loopy. Actually, it boots up, shows a bunch of debug info, then reboots. The console output is below. I've tried reimaging (image c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JA2.tar) but still have the same problem. I checked and although the controller software is old, the AP is supported.

Why do I have to keep my laptop power cord plugged in in order to not lose an internet connection? I configured settings for maximum performance in both the adapter configurations and advanced power settings.Could it have some thing to do with my wireless router?I don't experience this problem at wi-fi hotspots.

4402's been running quite happily until recently. I have 11 wlan's configured, but only 5 are enabled at this moment in time.
There are 26ap's connected to the 4402, a mixture of 1130's and 1142's. The memory error in the subject is popping up quite frequently.
No reference I can find on this forum or other Cisco.com.

I'm having trouble setting up a wireless internet connection for my computers, I connected the patch cable from my modem to a wireless router, then connected to that network with a usb for my computer.I was able to connect to the network, but couldn't seem to actually get into the internet. Is there any solutions to this?

I am a bit of a noobie and am considering buying a TL-WR1043ND router/access point, but I have read that this router will not connect directly to my ISP over DSL.I have fiber optic to my home from a local telephone company. Whether it will or will not act as the gateway to the Internet. If not, does it connect to another router that acts as a gateway to the Internet? Or what?Secondly, do you recommend this model which, considering features, appears to be good value at arount $50, but would like to know what others think about it.
Why my E3200 is (for lack of a better word) "throttling" my internet speeds.I'm signed up for my ISP's 50Mbps data plan. When I hook up my laptop directly to the cable modem (via LAN cable), I see close to 50Mbps as the internet speed (measure via speedtest.net). When I hook up my router to the cable modem, and connect via LAN cable to the router, the internet speed comes down to around a maximum of 26Mbps. NOTE, that I am still talking about a wired connection and not a wireless access. Speed tests with the wireless access do yield the same results as well. To rule out the obvious, I've confirmed that there aren't any other devices on the network and no other bandwidth hogging applications running while I performed these tests.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just have an experience to relate. I was provided the Cisco DPC 3825 unit for my home by my ISP. I couldn't get a strong enough signal to reach my smart tv about 50 to 60 away from the unit, which is in my office for computer uses. I purchased a Netgear extender to extend the signal. I was having trouble connecting the extender to the Cisco unit and get an internet connection. So I phoned my ISP and was told by the person on the phone that their Cisco unit cannot connect to this extender.
I found out that the Cisco unit was set to hidden by my son. After changing this setting I was able to easily connect the Netgear extender to the Cisco unit and get internet and a strong enough signal to my smart tv.
I would like to use my WUSB54GC ver2 adapter with a WIN7 ultimate 64-bit PC. Do I have any chance to use it on this computer? Linksys' website says that only ver3 adapters can use the WIN7 driver.

I thought I had it right when I went into the routers setup page and assigned what I thought was a staic Ip (on the setup page where it said static dns 1) outside of the DHCP range. This seemed to work fine.However, when I booted up the next day I had no internet connection and had to undo everything and put it back the way it was.Is there a how to out or guide there with pictures that shows completely how to do this.
