i upgraded my internet package home from 1 mb to 4 mb and i wanted to confirm some thing what is the general range in download speed for a 4mb connection (400 kbps to 450kbps) or 345 kbps?

The plan which my ISP is providing me comes with a speed of 4Mbps upto first 20 GB and then 512Kbps after that, every month. My problem is that I am getting only 65-70 Kbps download speed. (tested over various sites and torrents). My router (Nokia Siemens) settings show that my Downstream speed has been assigned as 7999 Kbps but still I am not getting the speed anywhere near that and I have not consumed the 20GB limit as yet.

At my workplace, we have high speed internet (dsl). We don't have Wifi or a full time tech guy at the moment. I was thinking about proposing it since I generally handle most of the technical items at my job, but wanted to verify a few things first. First of all.. on a work network.. is it any more difficult than your average home network to set up a wifi router? Anything special I should know before attempting to set one up?

I have forwarded all the necessary ports to the device (and I have even tried DMZ) but the device is unable to connect to some servers due to "NAT issues". The device uses lots of ports simultaneously to connect and I am wondering maybe possibly the router can not handle the number of open ports. The ISP only blocks port 25 which the device does not use. Could it be that the ISP limits the number of ports that are in use? Or maybe the ISP limits the amount of bandwidth that can pass through certain ports?

I have been asked to analyze and report as well on the way the Qos Policy is written, and to provide any recommendations on how they can improve performance.There is a statement within the Qos Policy as it exists at each end on the 3825 routers. The statement is called "shape average percent". Here is the policy from one side:

I'm attempting to configure qos on our ASA 5505 and I'm not sure how to determine what our average and burst rates should be.The applications being used will be RDP over a ipsec tunnel, so it is somewhat sensitive to latency.The final setup will be a 1.54Mb T1 line, but in testing I have a DSL connection with .70Mb U/L speed.

I have two clients with the same cards (Intel 4965agn, latest driver) and I got transfer rates at 144 Mbps with both radios working (2.4 and 5GHZ on the E4200). When I try to use 5Ghz only it drops to 54 Mbps and for 2.4Ghz it drops for 130 Mbps. Could I reach better transfers rate with a Intel 4965agn card (300 or 450 Mbps)?

I'm assuming it's some sort of virus or something...I ran McAfee and it found nothing. When I tried connecting yesterday, it gave me all kinds of different reasons why it wasn't connecting when I diagnosed it. Now however, when I try to connect to it, it says the network key is incorrect, which it isn't.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my computers hardware which included a new motherboard, ever since installing this new motherboard my internet connection has been unreliable. The motherboard ( Gigabyte p67-ud4-b3) has an inbuilt NIC which i connected to my router via a standard cable.I first started noticing the interruptions when download files any bigger than 20MB as they would randomly go down to 0kb/sec and I would have to restart the download. I bypassed this by using a download manager but i have noticed it happening on youtube streams now which is getting rather annoying.The only thing i've changed for this to start happening is the motherboard and a new installation of windows 7.I've tried various things to fix this by fiddling with router settings and even updating the router software but nothing has worked ( I have also done various virus scans all showing no viruses)

Now, I am on Hughesnet for internet service, can not get on DSL, wont happen already asked. Now, I am running a router, only way my wife and son can access the internet. They have laptops windows 7 and build-in Wireless Cards. I have a desktop windows 7. My updates are scheduled in the morning hours about 5AM so their is no reason for the computer to update. Same goes for my wife and son, their are set for early morning hours as well. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 3825 with a 16 port etherswitch card installed that I'm trying to setup rate-limits on. Interface G0/0 is the connection to the outside world and int g0/1 has a couple of 2950 switches attached to it.
The etherswitch card, f1/0, f1,1 etc has corresponding vlans, 902, 903 etc each with an IP 10.110.1.x, 10.110.2.x and all part of access-group 111. The switches connect on sub-interfaces g0/1.101, g0/1.102 etc and have IP's 10.55.1.x, 10.55.2.x and part of access-group 101.
What i'm trying to achieve is that every port / IP that is on access-group 111 shares 3Mb of bandwidth in/out and access-group 101 shares a separate 3Mb of bandwidth in/out.
I've created two access-lists as follows;
access-list 101 permit ip 10.55.0.0 0.0.255.255 any
access-list 111 permit ip 10.110.0.0 0.0.255.255 any
And on int g0/0 I've created the following rate-limits;
rate-limit input access-group 101 3072000 64000 64000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
rate-limit input access-group 111 3072000 64000 64000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
rate-limit output access-group 101 3072000 64000 64000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
rate-limit output access-group 111 3072000 64000 64000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
Now instead of both access-groups having 3Mb each they all seem to be sharing 3Mb! I've tried class-maps and policy-maps but to no avail..
our company has 1 mbps lease line for internet connectivity. but while monitoring i saw it goes up to 1.4 - 1.6 mbps. how can i reduce the access rate and maintain it below 1 mbps ???

The plan is to replace the router with a new 2951 router and a NM-T3/E3 card.After the router was replaced, I configured the NM but the circuit remained dow/down. I am looking for information on how to properly configure rate limits on a Cisco 2821 so that I can set different Service levels by IP address. For example I want to limit a block of IPs to 1 Mbps Down and 512 kbps Up. I am doing point to point networks from our router (ISR 2821) to another router that is assigned a static IP. The other router connects to our router through a Fast Ethernet port on a NM 16 port switch card. The routing end point for the network is on a VLAN interface. Currently we are using bonded T1's but are about to turn up a Metro-E circuit.
