i have configured some 1142n's, everything works in terms of .n but the reported client connection on the AP does match the published MCS definitions.eg so what does "Current Rate (Mb/sec) m6-4" actually mean in terms of MCS connection

I have two clients with the same cards (Intel 4965agn, latest driver) and I got transfer rates at 144 Mbps with both radios working (2.4 and 5GHZ on the E4200). When I try to use 5Ghz only it drops to 54 Mbps and for 2.4Ghz it drops for 130 Mbps. Could I reach better transfers rate with a Intel 4965agn card (300 or 450 Mbps)?

View 6 Replies View RelatedA Cisco RV220W router/firewall connects the local LAN to the internet. The router is connected to a new Cisco SG300-28P switch configured in Layer 2 mode. There are two new AIR-1142N wireless access points running in autonomous mode connected to 2 ports on the SG300 powered through PoE. The AIR-1142N access points are running the latest firmware version 15.2(2)JB. There are two VLANs defined: VLAN1 is the native on all devices, and VLAN2 is for wireless guest traffic to provide access to the internet only.Internal/staff traffic is on 192.168.100.x, and the wireless SSID is MYNetS.Guest traffic is on 192.168.200.x and the wireless SSID is MyNetG.IP addresses are being assigned by the RV220W.
All works well with one exception. Wireless clients on the internal SSID are able to ping/access the switch, router, and other clients on wired ports on the switch. The router, switch, and wired clients can ping wireless clients. However, wireless clients, on the same SSID and the same 1142N cannot ping/access one another. They are being isolated from each other. We absolutely need to have this capability.The SG300 does not have port security enabled on any port. none of the workstations/laptops have a firewall enabled. These laptops are all Macs btw. I have checked that neither of the 1142N access points have Public Secure Packet Forwarding enabled on either of the VLANs.I am at a loss as to why the wireless clients are being isolated.
I have a customer that have trouble with the update of the position of a client. Even if the clients walks across the whole building, the client will stay at the same place for several minutes. Is there any way to tune the refresh rate? When I push the load button in the map, the clients position will refresh, or it did when I was on the site, now they just test with an application.

I would like to be able to allow a specific client to only associate at 6mbit/s -is this possible using the wlc controller 5508? Another option would be to limit a whole w lan ssid to 6mbit/s but i can't find a way to do that either.
Other w lan ssid's on the same access points/controller need full data rates, so i guess i can't use the RF-profiling for this.
I need a WCS report that will actually give me the top n Wireless Access points that have too many clients trying to authenticte to them.We have some serious capacity issue in meeting rooms but we need a ball park figure of how many WAPs might be affected.
I know I can interogate the WCS to drill down and find out that WAPs are exceeding their threshold I just need to have a decent report generated.I have searched the reports from WCS 6.0.202.0 and cannot seem to find anything that suits.
In the EA6500 Device Tab of the connected devices all the information should be considered as wrong or incomplete. The router and all devices set to static ip addresses work fine but you should use another information source as to what and where devices are connected on your network. Cisco says they are aware of the bug and are working on a firmware update.Also, reported to Cisco, when and if using Windows 8 and IE 10 the restore function does not respond with the IE 10. Works fine in Chrome and earlier Internet explorer.
Bugs are to be expected in any new device, but time will tell as to how fast Cisco fixes these issues and timely releases firmware updates to us their consumers. The connected device tab information bug needs a quick fix because anyone relying on the information would be working to connect devices that are already on the network or maybe listed with the wrong mac or ip address.

I have two computers connected to DSL with a modem and a 4 port ethernet switch.Only one computer is on the switch at the moment because the other is getting parts repaired. About a month or two ago, we had problems with our ISP because the main tower in town was having work done so connections were spotty.With the work being done for a month, I've still been having problems and I am not sure if it's related to my ISP or modem/ethernet port or what. I got this error when connecting: TCP/IP CP reported error 738: the server did not assign an address. It took around 10 redials for it to connect. I've gotten this error before (along with other errors I don't recall as it's been awhile) and my internet will randomly slow way down.
I just had an svchost.exe error that I got resolved via the techsupportforum virus section, where my computer would freeze when trying to connect, and I hadn't had any connecting errors for awhile. But now that the infections are gone, I am getting errors again. It seems quite odd.I rent a modem from my ISP and it stopped working before so I got a new one. They said I had hit the reset button on their modem and that was probably my problem and could have also messed up my ethernet switch. So I'm wondering if that is an issue also, as I am using the same switch with a new modem.

I have the following problem in LMS 4.0. I see a lot of CDP syslog messages about Native Vlan Mismatch, but the LMS doesn't report it in the disrepancy report. Why?? The similar problem is with TRUNK VLAN Mismatch. The customer doesn't use VTP in his network. All switches are in the VTP transparent mode.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have run into a major issue with an autonomous Cisco 1142AP. We were in the midst of a firmware upgrade when something went wrong and caused the AP to reboot in an error mode. Basically the unit was flashing Blue, amber, red. We unmounted the unit from the wall, connected to the console, and it would now only flash red over and over. We pulled out the cisco guides and performed a factory reset on the unit. This still does not work. and the contents of our flash directory is empty. All we get is a ROMMON AP prompt on the unit. If I issue a set command, I can see the default settings for IP, netmask, etc.
I cannot access the unit via the network, even after setting IP info and matching it up to my laptop. Since I have no network connectivity, I can't TFTP a new IOS file to the unit. I am stumped. How to get the config as if it was out of the box, or an alternate way to TFTP to the unit? [code]Notice the lines in red, I must have typed someting incorrectly.Now once the unit boots after being reset, I cannot even type in the CLI. Someting majorly screwed up here. Can the bootstrap be reinitialized?
Now, with all the unified communications, voice, video and data are in the same device, and I try to give priority to voice and some applications, but in the WLC I can not find the way to mark all that kind of packets.
Is it possible to do that? like in a LAN making the marking as voice, signaling and any kind of application? as I marked in all the LAN.

I have one management vlan 5 & User VLAN for WIFI VLAN 10 . The problem is when i make the POE port which is connected to the AP as trunk port means : [code]I am not able to ping the management IP allotted from VLAN 5 . However when i make it as access i am able to ping the managament IP . But for both the VLANs to work it should be in trunk mode & in cisco i can either assign the port as access or trunk .Post this i would configure the 1142 N with Cisco SG300-10P POE Switch . I guess if issue with my 4510 gets resolved the same way i can configure SG300-10P as well .
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an Aironet 1142n and need to configure/set it on one subnet in our WAN and ship it to another subnet on the WAN.
I have not been able to access the unit using a network cable from a pc direct connected to the Aironet. The pc's ip address is set to 10.0.0.2 I can not get to the access point thru the web interface using 10.0.0.1.
When I attempted to access it using a Hyper terminal connected to serial port and console port it loaded a list of software and updates and then reported that it shut down and I could not do any thing with it.
What must I do to be able to configuer a static IP and assign it an SSID and Security settings? How can I access the web interface? I have reset it by uplugging the power cord and holding down the Mode button while I plugged back in the power cord and holding it until the light turned amber/orange. Currently the light is solid green with the ethernet port direct connected to the nic card on a desktop.
I have a question with the CAPWAP command. Typically, when I get 1142N from our provider, they have no configuration on them and all I need to do is enter 4 lines of code all starting with CAPWAP and then I have them join the controller and finish the config. This one I just received looks like it has an IOS image or configuration on it. (You can do a show run). I can: show CAPWAP - but I can not enter any CAPWAP commands. They are invalid input detected at marker. How to I get to the point where I can enter my CAPWAP commands ??

I have setup the AP, and read about some issues with Multicast and Apple Bon. Services.
I ran the "no ip igmp snooping" command and it allowed be to access our AirPlay Devices (Apple TV, AirPort Express, Etc), however our 2 AirPrint devices (Xerox 6125N, & Canon IR3220 via AirPrint Activator) are not showing up at all when connected to the 1142 (they work everywhere else).
Everything is on the same subnet, and 1142 is connected to the same switch has the airprint devices, and one Apple TV.
Both our 3500 Series switches are connected via fiber, AP and AirPrint/AirPlay devices are in the same VLAN.
10 Access Pointd 1142N setup on vlan 10 and the controller management is in vlan 10.
They get DHCP IP addreses from the controller itself!! I do not have another DHCP server.

I am testing our new wireless network using 1 Cisco 2504 wireless controller with 5 licenses 4 Cisco Air LAP 1142N Access Point I configured it very simple for testing There is only one interface and vlan is untaggetd There is also only one WLAN with one SSID Currently security setting is WPA + WPA2 + PSK (I also tested with no security setup) Wlan session time is diabled and controller user idle timeout is set to 1000000 (Max)AP boot version is 12.4.23.3 and ISO version is 12.4(23c)JA3 Problem is clinet(iphone) does not automatically associate with 1142N Access Point even after it learned network. Phone has to be authenticated again to connect to network same iphone can automatically associate with old 1220 Access point but not with New AP if I urn off and turn back on wifi from iphone, it does see the network but does not connect but I have to manually reconnect to it with password I want iphone to connect known network without reauthentication process after iphone's wifi function is turn on?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy co-workers and I have been trying to diagnose a problem that recently started occuring on our AP1141N and AP1142N units. I have found a handful of posts that talk about this issue, but none with a solid solution. It seems that as often as every 24 hours, the radio interfaces change state to down, for seemingly no reason. Once this occurs, the only way to bring the radio interface back up is to reboot the AP. As far as we know, this wasn't happening until recently, when we enabled the "N" speeds. Things were working correctly for a year or two while the APs were configured just for b/g operation. The following is the only seeminlg-relevant thing that shows up in the logs:
*Nov 12 00:53:02.508: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to reset

Some additional info:
