View 1 RepliesFor months now, my ping has been randomly spiking at an inconsistent rate. I can be good for an hour, and down for a week. My usual ping is a solid 15, but it has gone as high as 1000. I've gotten a new modem, and that has changed the problem a little bit(I no longer suffer extreme download and upload loss when my ping drops) but I have yet to find a fix for the problem.

Each WAP shows connected at 1GB but when I am sitting within a couple feet of the WAP and attempt to transfer a 972MB file it takes around 9 minutes to complete. speeding this up? All 4 AP's are setup as a cluster as well.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had a DIR-655 for years, and this is a treat - channeling everything from IPTV, to a fast fiber connection, transfers - no sweats.
Then I had to setup a router for a friend, and recommended the DIR-615.
Setup the router, and max it would connect with was 150mb - I changed the settings accordingly: auto channel scan channel width: auto 20/40mhz
So this "opened" up the 300mb speed - however only for 5 mins, then it falls down to 150mb.
My laptop (lenovo) connects to the dir-655 just fine at full speed, and this is also the machine I used for testing the dir-615.
It's ax Hx firmware, FW: 8.04
What I can conclude by using inssider, and xirrus wifi inspector is that it generates 2 channels - and then after 5mins of connectivity looses a channel, and then the speed drops.
I got a new router from the dealer, same issue. Then a friend of mine lent me an ancient dir-615, and interestingly enough this had the same configuration option of "Transmission rate" in the wireless settings page! Just like the dir-655. and also connects at 300mb...
I have a home network running on a Linksys WAG320n and i have attached to it a WD MyBookLive (w Gigabit Ethernet). I am connected on the network via my Dell with a Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN. I am not able though to connect on N range. I have installed the latest drivers from Intel but nothing changed. When i try to copy a file from my computer to the WD Network drive the transfer rates are very slow. I get Max 2MB/s - 3MB/s while if i connect my computer with a wire the speed goes up by 3-4 times more.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a customer that have trouble with the update of the position of a client. Even if the clients walks across the whole building, the client will stay at the same place for several minutes. Is there any way to tune the refresh rate? When I push the load button in the map, the clients position will refresh, or it did when I was on the site, now they just test with an application.
The setup:
WiSM 7.0.220
WCS 7.0.220
MSE 7.0.220
They use the API for MSE to get the location information to the external application, and that will show the information on a cisco 7925 IP phone.know a way to increasing the refresh rate?
I've spent parts of the past five days buying and exchanging several WAP4410N units because I was not able to achieve anything close to a 300Mbps data rate. I also tried various wireless-n network cards which were known to be configured correctly for 300Mbps speeds with no luck.
The highest speed I was able to achieve was 130Mbps, which is an indication that channel bonding is not in effect.
Then I came across another post in the forums:
WAP4410N does not exceed 130Mbps in N mode at close range.
where the OP mentions recently upgrading to firmware 2.0.4.2, though not treating that as the cause of his problems.
On a lark, I tried downgrading to both firmware 2.0.2.1 and firmware 2.0.3.3, and to my surprise, I was able to achieve the full 300Mbps data rate with both firmware versions.
When I reverted back to 2.0.4.2, I was not able to achieve the full 300Mbps data rate.
So, right now, I downgraded to firmware 2.0.3.3 so I can get the higher data rate, though there are other quirks to deal with.
Furthermore, when I do a web search of reviews, I can see that the inability to achieve the 300Mbps data rate is a huge source of complaints.
i have configured some 1142n's, everything works in terms of .n but the reported client connection on the AP does match the published MCS definitions.eg so what does "Current Rate (Mb/sec) m6-4" actually mean in terms of MCS connection

View 1 Replies View Relatedthe only way i can get 300mbps from this router is by having these settings, it seems the only valid settings to get 300mbps from the router are the following:
Network Mode: mixed
Channel Width: auto (20mhz or 40mhz)
Channel : 1
if i leave the channel to auto it won't show up as 300.on top of that it doesn't want to stay at 300mbps for very long, sometimes its max rate in inSSDer is only 144 or 156mbps. its the weirdest thing, i think this version of the firmware seems to forget to check for how fast its wireless transmit speed is.When it reboots it only transmits at 144 or 156mbps. i have to go in the basic wireless page and just save the settings to reset it to 300, i don't even have to change anything, it resets its max rated speed back up to 300mbps.and more importantly, are the devs aware of this problem for the e1200 v2 ?

in Utilities (activity monitor)I'm only getting 9 megabytes per second , why is it so slow? I feel like it's taking forever. e3200 says it does up to 300 megabytes per second. any possible settings causing this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to allow a specific client to only associate at 6mbit/s -is this possible using the wlc controller 5508? Another option would be to limit a whole w lan ssid to 6mbit/s but i can't find a way to do that either.
Other w lan ssid's on the same access points/controller need full data rates, so i guess i can't use the RF-profiling for this.
I need to control the rate at which my WUSB600N adapter connects to my access point. By default, it rate adapts through negotiation with the access point based on a set of possible rates. Can I restrict the set of rates my adapter can use (without re-writing the driver ). I've looked at netsh which provides stats about the rate my adapter is actually using but doesn't appear to allow me to set the desired rate. I'm using Windows Vista by the way.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just bought an E3000 router when my old router died last week. I am having two problems:
1. The data rate slows down after a period of time (long message trail elsewhere)
2. I cannot see everything on the network.
I have several Win 7 computers, two win xp computers, three NAS devices (linux based), and a printer sitting on the network, along with two switches to cope with all the traffic (not to mention iPods, iphones etc.)With my old router, I couold see everything plugged into the network from my main Win 7 computer. (note: the win 7 network map does not always work, but the windows explorer window of the network always showed everything). With the E3000 router, I can only see 1 or 2 of the devices on the network. If I reboot the router, then sometimes all of the devices appear on the windows explorer window (sometimes not)I am running a workgroup (not a domain) and i am not using win 7's homegroup because that will not work with the non-win 7 devices. Is there a setting that will see all of the devices in Win 7 (either on the router or on the computers). I suspect it is a router issue as it worked with my old Zyxel router.

I have bought tp-link wdr-4900 for several days and encounter the following problems
1) nfs is not work, whenever I set up the nfs server (using hanewin nfs server), the media player fails to read the media file. (Problem does not appear for the previous ASUS n56u)
2) When there is large traffic rate (e.g. BitTorrent), the whole machine is very unstable, LAN and Wireless dies (SSID disappears, and LAN appears "ERR Connection" and "DNS not respond"), give me a feeling that the router cannot handle high traffic rate and the whole machine slows down and fails.
We have been deploying 3502 APs remotely to locations with full T1s that backhaul to where I sit at HQ. Both the foreign and anchor controller are here at my location.
I am seeking to rate limit per user the bandwidth each client will get on the guest internet ssid. As you know this traffic is encapsulated in capwap between the AP and the controller so I cant use a standard ACL on the switch or router.
We are trying to keep the guest internet access usage in check on the T1 at any given site so the other ssid's & local lan traffic is not overly competing for the bandwidth.
I found the place to edit the default profiles in the controller but the documentation really isnt clear on best practices.
So I put it to you my fellow wireless engineers to suggest how you are implementing bandwidth management on your wireless guest internet.
Oh and here is my hardware & software levels.

Which Intel network cards runs well with E4200 (latest FW)? I mean good connection and transfers rate. I have two clients with the same cards (Intel 4965agn, latest driver) and I got transfer rates at 144 Mbps with both radios working (2.4 and 5GHZ on the E4200). When I try to use 5Ghz only it drops to 54 Mbps and for 2.4Ghz it drops for 130 Mbps. Could I reach better transfers rate with a Intel 4965agn card (300 or 450 Mbps)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new 3560G to set up a small network for a remote site. I configured the vlan and an SVI as the gateway. The switch is also the DHCP server for the LAN. I configured Gi0/2 as L3 port, connecting to the nearest neighbor. My network runs EIGRP so i advertised the routes into the EIGRP process. The switch forms EIGRP neighbors and learns all routes in the enterprise network. The problems I'm having now are: 1. The switch learns all routes in my enterprise LAN and can ping devices in the enterprise LAN, but I can’t ping any interface on the switch from the enterprise LAN. 2.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI set this up and I can ping all the gateways but never the hosts. I was hoping I could make these links between 6500's a mix of L2 and L3. Check it out. They are connected in a linear fashion R1--->R2--->R3. I can ping from R1 to R3's SVI4 gateway but I can never ping a host on that SVI4. I was hoping that I could use the port-channels between 6500's as routed links or as trunk links depending on the type of traffic....thought it would ease the migration. I suppose I could always get rid of the port-channels and just make separate L2 and L3 links between the 6500's.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 3825 with a 16 port etherswitch card installed that I'm trying to setup rate-limits on. Interface G0/0 is the connection to the outside world and int g0/1 has a couple of 2950 switches attached to it.
The etherswitch card, f1/0, f1,1 etc has corresponding vlans, 902, 903 etc each with an IP 10.110.1.x, 10.110.2.x and all part of access-group 111. The switches connect on sub-interfaces g0/1.101, g0/1.102 etc and have IP's 10.55.1.x, 10.55.2.x and part of access-group 101.
What i'm trying to achieve is that every port / IP that is on access-group 111 shares 3Mb of bandwidth in/out and access-group 101 shares a separate 3Mb of bandwidth in/out.
I've created two access-lists as follows;
access-list 101 permit ip 10.55.0.0 0.0.255.255 any
access-list 111 permit ip 10.110.0.0 0.0.255.255 any
And on int g0/0 I've created the following rate-limits;
rate-limit input access-group 101 3072000 64000 64000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
rate-limit input access-group 111 3072000 64000 64000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
rate-limit output access-group 101 3072000 64000 64000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
rate-limit output access-group 111 3072000 64000 64000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
Now instead of both access-groups having 3Mb each they all seem to be sharing 3Mb! I've tried class-maps and policy-maps but to no avail..
